A New Report Claims Another Fox X-Men Star Has Joined the MCU

Even though Kevin Feige and his creative friends in the Marvel Parliament have their own designs for the X-Men down the road in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, they’ve shown they have no problem holding on to nostalgia in the meantime. Patrick Stewart led off by appearing as Charles Xavier in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Kelsey Grammer recently returned to voice Beast in The Marvels and Hugh Jackman is popping the claws once again as Wolverine in Deadpool 3. Now a new report indicates that another former Fox X-Men star will be joining them in the MCU.

According to insider Daniel RPK, Spanish actress Dafne Keen has joined the impressive cast of director Shawn Levy’s Deadpool 3. Keen starred in 2017’s Logan as a child clone of the title character known as X-23. Following Logan’s death, X-23, also known as Laura, skedaddled off into the woods. For some time, rumors persisted that an X-23 spinoff was in the works, however, with the conclusion of the Fox-verse of X-stories coming shortly after, it seemed Keen–who recently said she was hopeful she’d get a chance to reprise the role in Deadpool 3–was done with the role.

I’m 100 percent hopeful. I’m trying not to get my hopes up too high in case it doesn’t happen, but I really do hope it does because I loved playing Laura. She holds a very special place in my heart and she’s an incredible character. And to be fair, the whole Deadpool 3 situation really, really made me happy because, obviously when Disney bought Fox, I suspected they weren’t going to do any more R-rated films, but then greenlighting Deadpool is a great sign for other R-rated movies.

Dafne Keen on her hopes for returning to the role of X-23

Given the father-daughter relationship that developed onscreen between Logan and Laura, it wouldn’t be surprising to see Logan fight to find and possibly save her whatever fate is awaiting some of these universes visited in Deadpool 3. Should Marvel Studios have future plans for X-23, Keen, who is now 18 years old, certainly has the chops and desire to continue playing the character.

Deadpool 3 is currently slated to hit theaters on July 26, 2024.
