Rob Huebel Joins Disney+’s ‘Goosebumps’ Series

According to Variety, Disney’s live-action Goosebumps series has added Rob Huebel to its cast in a recurring guest star role. The outlet states that Huebel will play a character named Colin, who is the father of Isa Briones‘ Margot. The character is described as “a well-intentioned high school guidance counselor who is about to discover the world is a lot bigger and scarier than he ever imagined.”

Huebel is perhaps best known for his work on the show Children’s Hospital, for which he was nominated for an Emmy. He has also appeared in I Know This Much Is True, The Goldbergs, and The Sex Lives of College Girls. On the film side, he has starred in films such as The Descendants, I Love You Man, and Seeking a Friend for the End of the World.

The live-action series is said to follow a group of five high schoolers who accidentally unleash supernatural forces upon their town. In order to save the town, they will all need to work together, learning much about their own parents’ teenage secrets in the process. This will mark the second time that the Goosebumps books have been adapted for television, as there was a series that aired between 1996 and 1998. However, unlike that series which took an anthology approach, the Disney+ series will focus on five of the most popular Goosebumps books.

Disney+’s ‘Goosebumps’ Series Adds Isa Briones, Zack Morris and More

The cast for the upcoming Disney+ series adapting the iconic children’s horror books Goosebumps is growing, as the project has now added to its cast. Just recently, we learned that Justin Long was going to be part of the film’s cast and now they have added quite a few more. The cast now includes Zack Morris, Isa Briones, Ana Yi Puig, Will Price, and Miles McKenna.

The series follows a group of five high schoolers who unleash supernatural forces upon their town and must all work together — thanks to and in spite of their friendships, rivalries and pasts with each other — in order to save it, learning much about their own parents’ teenage secrets in the process.

Morris has been cast as the football player Isaiah while Briones takes on the role of Jane, who is the series’ bookworm. • Justin Long Joins Disney+’s ‘Goosebumps’ Series

Justin Long Joins Disney+’s ‘Goosebumps’ Series

Disney+ may have kicked off its streaming service with Star Wars and Marvel, but they have been quite busy expanding their available IPs. They purchased 20th Century Fox for a reason and aren’t wasting any time to also add a few other recognizable franchises to their list. Now, they are actively working on a new series based on the iconic Goosebumps franchise by R.L. Stine and it seems they already have their casting locked, as Justin Long is set to join the series.

The series will reportedly be inspired by five fo the popular Goosebumps books, and Disney has provided the following logline for the series.

The series follows a group of five high schoolers who unleash supernatural forces upon their town and must all work together — thanks to and in spite of their friendships, rivalries and pasts with each other — in order to save it, learning much about their own parents’ teenage secrets in the process.

Long is taking on the role of a school teacher, who ends up connected with a “decades-old supernatural murder” named Nathan Bratt. The series will seemingly adopt an overarching narrative rather than having each entry act as its own retelling of the iconic books. There have been quite a few adaptations throughout the years with Jack Black as a fictionalized version of Stine back in 2015. It even got a sequel that would release in 2018.

Disney is continuing to build up its intellectual properties, as Variety has now unveiled that the House of Mouse picked up a live-action Goosebumps TV series. R.L. Stine‘s iconic book franchise will be brought to the streaming service in the form of a ten-episode season. Nick Stoller and Rob Letterman are attached as executive producers and writers for the series.

Letterman is also going to direct the first episode – fitting as he directed the 2015 film – but there is no word who will tackle the rest of the season. Original Film Neal H. Moritz is joining the production as an executive producer, which is noteworthy due to his involvement with the 2015 and 2018 live-action films based on the popular children franchise.

With its, it’s the second live-action Goosebumps show to ever air, as the original ran for four seasons for two years starting in 1996. It went on to tell different stories based on the book series in 74 episodes. It’s also not the first Stine adaptation heading to the streaming service, as Just Beyond also premiered back in October based on his graphic novels.
