  • Marvel Officially Details ‘Amazing Spider-Man #1000’ As The Milestone Hits Retailers This Fall

The long countdown is over, and Marvel is officially pulling back the curtain on what it’s calling the biggest issue in Spider-Man history.

Marvel Comics has detailed the landmark AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #1000, a giant-sized, star-studded spectacular set to arrive in comic shops on September 16, 2026. Marking the first time a mainline Marvel series has crossed the quadruple-digit finish line, the publisher is bringing together an unprecedented lineup of legendary creators to celebrate Peter Parker’s legacy while charting his next 1,000 issues.

    The Creative Lineup

The cornerstone of the milestone issue is a massive main story from the current flagship creative team of writer Joe Kelly and artist Pepe Larraz. According to Marvel, this pivotal story serves as both a grand culmination of their run so far and a launchpad for the web-slinger’s next era.

Writing AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #1000 has stirred up a lot of emotions for me, but gratitude is chief among them. It’s a true honor to have the opportunity to contribute to Spidey’s legacy with a huge milestone like this. And special bonus – we get to introduce a new villain?! Amazing. Ravage is layered and complex and mysterious, and I can’t wait to unleash him on the readers with this monumental issue!

    -Joe Kelly

The issue will also feature a powerhouse anthology of special anniversary tales from an absolute murderer’s row of Spider-Man royalty, including Frank Miller, Dan Slott, J.M. DeMatteis, Brian Michael Bendis, Noah Hawley, and even Marvel Universe architect Larry Lieber.

    The New Threat

This isn’t just a retrospective victory lap. Kelly and Larraz are using the milestone to introduce a brand-new supervillain named Ravage.

Described by Kelly as “layered, complex, and mysterious,” Ravage is set to unleash a history-shattering power that forces Peter Parker to confront his greatest fear and question his entire superheroic legacy. Rumors among the fandom suggest this personal battle might tie directly back to long-simmering family secrets—specifically involving Aunt May.

    The Cover Situation

The road to #1000 hasn’t been completely without web-fluid clogs. Marvel originally announced a unique, pedestrian-perspective main cover penciled by John Romita Jr. and painted by Paolo Rivera. Following mixed feedback from the fan community regarding the abstract composition, Marvel modified the strategy.

The issue will now prominently feature two primary “A” covers: the Romita Jr./Rivera jam cover alongside a striking traditional piece by Pepe Larraz and colorist Marte Gracia. Additionally, industry giants Alex Ross and Mark Bagley will provide blockbuster variant covers celebrating Spidey’s most iconic moments and his legendary rogues’ gallery.

    The Release Details

    • Lead Creators: Joe Kelly & Pepe Larraz
    • Contributing Creators: Frank Miller, Brian Michael Bendis, Dan Slott, J.M. DeMatteis, Larry Lieber, Noah Hawley, and more.
    • Format: Oversized giant-size spectacular (Expected 72–100 pages)

  • Marvel Announces Savage ‘Infernal Hulk Vs.’ One-Shots in the “March to Hulk War”

Marvel Announces Savage ‘Infernal Hulk Vs.’ One-Shots in the “March to Hulk War”

The Green Goliath has been replaced by something infinitely worse, and now the entire Marvel Universe is about to suffer the consequences. Following an official announcement on Marvel.com on June 18, 2026, writer Phillip Kennedy Johnson and artist Nic Klein’s acclaimed, horror-drenched saga is pivoting toward its final act with a brutal four-issue series of Infernal Hulk Vs. one-shots.

Kicking off on September 9, 2026, the March to Hulk War will feature the devastating, systematic defeat of Marvel’s greatest heroes as the demon-possessed behemoth prepares to tear reality apart in early 2027.

The narrative picks up directly from the core Infernal Hulk title, where the ancient, primordial evil known as the Eldest has completely severed Bruce Banner from his alter-ego, taking full control of the monster’s physical form to usher in a new “Age of Monsters.”

The terror begins with Infernal Hulk Vs. Wolverine #1, featuring visceral, heavy-hitting interior artwork from Stormbreaker Jonas Scharf (Ultimate Endgame).

When the X-Men discover the location of several mutants who have been systematically abducted and horribly corrupted by the Infernal Hulk to build his dark army, Logan takes the mission personally. The deadliest X-Man sets out to free his people by the most violent means imaginable—pitting the ultimate mutant killing machine against the literal Father of Horrors.

This isn’t just a random rampage. Johnson revealed that the true purpose of these battles is for the Eldest to crush Earth’s mightiest heroes and forcibly transform them into his twisted, monstrous faction of Infernal Avengers ahead of the upcoming Hulk War crossover event.

Marvel has already mapped out the entire monthly bloodbath leading into the winter:

    • September 9, 2026: Infernal Hulk Vs. Wolverine #1 (Art by Jonas Scharf, Cover by Nic Klein)
    • October 2026: Infernal Hulk Vs. Fantastic Four #1
    • November 2026: Infernal Hulk Vs. Spider-Man #1
    • December 2026: Infernal Hulk Vs. The Avengers #1

The March to Hulk War serves as the deliberate, hard-hitting conclusion to the macro-narrative Johnson and Klein first launched way back in Incredible Hulk #1 in 2023.

Johnson has been incredibly candid about the sheer level of gore and psychological dread baked into this crossover roadmap, teasing that the creative team had explicit corporate discussions about exactly how violent they could legally go. “I want to keep ramping up the horror vibe of the Hulk series, and for our readers to see things in these one-shots they’ve never seen before,” Johnson promised.

Editor Mark Paniccia described the premiere issue as an “absolute knockout” of unrelenting action, while Johnson explicitly warned fans to brace themselves for a final page twist in the Wolverine book that he expects to completely “shock” the fandom.

For the past year, Infernal Hulk has been an absolute masterpiece of body horror and mythological dread. By spinning the title out into isolated, monthly slugfests where the Hulk actively defeats and corrupts icons like Logan, Peter Parker, and the Fantastic Four, Marvel is establishing the Eldest as an apex threat. It gives the upcoming Hulk War event a genuine sense of despair—our heroes aren’t just fighting a monster; they are fighting their own twisted, infected allies.

With a powerless Bruce Banner currently running on pure intellect to try and outmaneuver his former body, the stakes couldn’t be higher. By the time the Avengers one-shot wraps in December, the Marvel Universe will be completely defenseless, paving a flawless narrative runway for Hulk War to be a can’t miss event this January 2027.

  • Marvel TV Boss Takes the Reins in Massive Marvel Leadership Restructuring

Marvel TV Boss Takes the Reins in Massive Marvel Leadership Restructuring

The line separating the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the comic book source material just got a lot thinner. In a monumental corporate restructuring announced on Marvel.com, Brad Winderbaum has been promoted to the newly created position of Head of Marvel Television, Animation, Comics & Franchise.

The promotion effectively hands the creative steering wheel of Marvel Comics over to the executive who championed the streaming renaissance of X-Men ’97 and Daredevil: Born Again. Concurrently, the studio announced the retirement of longtime Marvel veteran Dan Buckley and the arrival of Disney’s David Abdo.

After nearly 30 years shepherding the brand through bankruptcy, corporate buyouts, and the ultimate explosion into Hollywood royalty, Dan Buckley is officially stepping down. Buckley isn’t walking out the door immediately. He will remain with Marvel through mid-2027 in an advisory role to ensure a smooth transition of the publishing empire. In an official statement, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige praised Buckley’s immense footprint, noting his stewardship of legendary publishing events ranging from Civil War and House of X to the upcoming Midnight imprint.

Brad’s exceptional creative leadership and David’s deep experience in operations and digital innovation will be a powerful pairing as we begin building out the next 90 years of Marvel’s comic book legacy,” said Marvel’s One Above All. “Brad brings a proven ability to lead creative teams and craft ongoing, episodic narratives that resonate with our fans around the world, while David offers a strong track record of operational excellence and strategic growth. I’m excited for what they’ll be able to do together.

Winderbaum’s ascent within Marvel has been nothing short of meteoric. Having started his journey during the production of 2008’s Iron Man, Winderbaum became the architect of Marvel’s Disney+ television and animation output in 2021.

While Winderbaum now commands the creative blueprint, David Abdo is stepping in to run the physical business as the new General Manager, Comics & Franchise. Abdo moves over to Marvel following a highly successful tenure as General Manager of the Disney Music Group, where he was credited with driving massive revenue growth and digital innovation. Abdo will report directly to Winderbaum, focusing heavily on digital distribution, subscription models, and expanding Marvel’s global footprint into newer multimedia sectors.

While some purists may worry about the MCU-ification of the comic line, Winderbaum’s recent creative successes—particularly the deep reverence for comic history displayed in X-Men ’97—suggests the publishing house is in the hands of a true believer. With Buckley easing out through 2027, this transition prepares Marvel Comics for a heavily synchronized future just as Avengers: Secret Wars looks to reshape the corporate canvas.

  • Jonathan Hickman to Architect ‘Midnight’, Marvel’s “Absolute Horror” Line

Jonathan Hickman to Architect ‘Midnight’, Marvel’s “Absolute Horror” Line

The light has had its turn. In a follow up scoop to Marvel’s cryptic reveal, Bleeding Cool’s Rich Johnston shared word that Marvel is preparing to launch Midnight, a standalone “Absolute Horror” universe.

Coming this fall, the line is being positioned as Marvel’s direct answer to both DC’s “Absolute” universe and the prestige maturity of the classic Vertigo imprint. Leading the charge? None other than Jonathan Hickman, the architect behind the current Ultimate Universe and House of X.

According to the report, Marvel is pivoting away from Hickman’s 2024 Ultimate Universe (which was designed with a two-year lifespan in mind) to this new dark frontier. Hickman is joined by Phillip Kennedy Johnson and Benjamin Percy, both of whom have recently signed exclusive deals with Marvel to build this horror landscape.

Much like DC’s Absolute line, Midnight will feature radical reimaginings of classic characters. Don’t expect the 616 versions of these heroes; expect “sons and daughters of Midnight Sons” reimagined for modern fears.

While specific titles haven’t been officially announced, the report points to a lineup of Marvel’s heavy hitters in the supernatural and occult space. Blade, Ghost Rider, and Werewolf By Night are potential flagship titles. Given the space being explored, The Darkhold, Dracula, and Morbius are also possibilities for the initial rollout, suggesting a universe that leans heavily into the monstrous.

Jonathan Hickman doesn’t just write books; he builds worlds. By giving him the keys to a horror-centric universe, Marvel is betting that the occult side of their IP—which has been largely secondary to superheroes for decades—can sustain its own massive, interconnected mythology. If Midnight has the bite of an Absolute book and the strangeness of a Vertigo title, it could redefine Marvel’s publishing strategy for the next five years.

  • Marvel’s ‘Avengers: Armageddon’ to Bundle Exclusive MTG Card; Red Hulk Leads the “Origin of the End”

If you thought Marvel’s publishing house was done with “industry-shaking” events after the fallout of One World Under Doom, think again. The publisher has officially pulled back the curtain on its next massive crossover, Avengers: Armageddon, and they are bringing the heavy hitters from the tabletop world along for the ride.

Marvel confirmed that every first-printing copy of Avengers: Armageddon #1—hitting shelves on June 3, 2026—will come sealed in a special polybag containing an exclusive Magic: The Gathering promo card.

The exclusive card, titled Warstorm Surge, features stunning new artwork by Marvel superstar Ryan Stegman. The art depicts a desperate battle in the ruins of Latveria, with Wolverine, Iron Man, and Spider-Man attempting to halt a rampaging Red Hulk.

A dramatic turning point in Avengers history, AVENGERS: ARMAGEDDON promises to change the face of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes in a way not seen since Avengers Disassembled and leads directly into a new era of Avengers kicking off later this year.

    -Official synopsis for Avengers: Armageddon

This isn’t just a random pull; the card is a direct tie-in to the upcoming Magic: The Gathering | Marvel Super Heroes set launching globally on June 26. By bundling this promo with the comic, Marvel and Wizards of the Coast are essentially creating a collector’s must-have that bridges the gap between the direct market and the booming TCG scene.

This is a major cross-media play that signals Marvel is treating Armageddon as the definitive turning point for the 616. Tying a watershed comic event to a massive Magic: The Gathering launch is a move straight out of the 90s hype playbook, but with modern prestige.

While the MTG card is a massive draw, the narrative stakes of Armageddon are what should have 616 fans worried. Written by Chip Zdarsky (Captain America, Daredevil) with art by Frank Alpizar and Delio Diaz, the five-issue event is being internally compared to 2004’s Avengers: Disassembled.

The story kicks off when General Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross seizes control of the vacuum left in Latveria following the death of Doctor Doom. His aggressive, security-first takeover triggers a global geopolitical crisis that forces the Avengers, the Fantastic Four, and Wolverine into a conflict that Marvel promises will leave the team fundamentally transformed.

As the official solicitation puts it:

There will be a pre-Armageddon Marvel Universe and a post-Armageddon Marvel Universe. Be here to bear witness to the transformation.

Zdarsky has spent the last year in the pages of Captain America and, now,  Wolverine: Weapons of Armageddon seeding the idea that a Hulk operating with state authority is the ultimate ticking time bomb. This isn’t just a physical fight; it’s a battle over who gets to decide the fate of nations. If this truly is the “Origin of the End” for Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, the Marvel Universe is about to look very different by July.

  • Marvel Revives Ms. Marvel as a Mutant, Disney+ Star Writing the New Comic

Marvel Revives Ms. Marvel as a Mutant, Disney+ Star Writing the New Comic

It’s safe to say that the “death” of Ms. Marvel was probably one of the most controversial decisions by Marvel Comics. Yet, it seems they had some big moves happening while the special issue Fallen Friend: The Death of Ms. Marvel remains a sour spot for some, there was a pretty expected strategy. Just as we were mourning the fallen hero, we already have an update on what we can expect from her comic’s future.

The big reveal is that Iman Vellani, who plays Kamala Khan in the Disney+ series, is actually co-writing the project alongside Sabir Pirzada, who worked on the series. Carlos Gomez and Adam Gorham are providing the art with Sara Pichelli involved with the comics’ main covers. As part of the reveal, Vellani reveals what it was like moving on from writing fan fiction to the real thing.

This was way scarier than joining the MCU for me. Those projects feel like they live in their own dimension, so I guess I can separate myself easier. But you can hold a comic book! I’ve never written anything before in my entire life, but I have read many comics, so I just wrote what I would want to read. I was given a very professional tool to write what is essentially my own fan fiction.

    Iman Vellani

Check out the cover for the new series.

As the cover unveils, Ms. Marvel is moving on from her Inhuman story towards embracing a new identity. The first Muslim superhero for Marvel is now a mutant, just as it was revealed in the Disney+ series. For those still mad at this revelation, it was the creator’s original intention to have her a mutant but ended up as an Inhuman due to the story that was written at the time. Of course, we’ll see just how long Kamala is going to stick around with the X-Men before once again embracing her Captain Marvel roots, which will be the focus of the upcoming The Marvels film.

  • Al Ewing and Leonard Kirk Set to Open ‘Avengers Inc.’

Al Ewing and Leonard Kirk Set to Open ‘Avengers Inc.’

Immortal Hulk, Guardians of the Galaxy and Ultimates writer Al Ewing and Sabretooth and Sabretooth & The Exiles artist Leonard Kirk are launching a brand new take on the Avengers this Fall featuring one of the founding members of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes. OG Avenger Janet Van Dyne will headline Avengers Inc., an ongoing series that will see her “out to solve the most amazing, fantastic and uncanny whodunnits the Marvel Universe has to offer!” according to Ewing.

Her name is Janet Van Dyne. She’s a hero. She’s a celebrity. She’s hunting a killer. His name is Victor Shade. He’s a villain. He’s an enigma. He just got killed. And together, they’re out to solve every mystery in the Marvel Universe…starting with their own.

    Marvel.com

The new book–which will feature “direct connections” to Jed MacKay and C.F. Villa’s main Avengers title–will begin “with a deadly conspiracy rooted in the ghosts of the Avengers’ past that only founding Avenger Wasp can solve. But she won’t be alone as she finds a new partner in Victor Shade! This former alias of Vision mysteriously resurfaces just as Janet discovers a score of Super Villain murders. Will he guide Wasp to the truth or is his familiar guise hiding the very clues Janet needs to crack the case?

As Ewing explains, “Avengers Inc. takes the beating, buzzing heart of the original Avengers, teams her up with an undead mystery man with an identity so secret even he doesn’t know it, and sends them both out to solve the most amazing, fantastic and uncanny whodunnits the Marvel Universe has to offer!” “It’s kind of a classic ‘will-they-won’t-they’ crime-solving partnership—or it would be if the ‘will-they’ in question was ‘save the world from…’ Well, that’d be telling. See you in September!” teased the author.

I am unsure what can be said of Avengers Inc. without spoiling anything for the readers,” said Kirk. “I can say this is a fun and intriguing take on some familiar characters that leans more into detective skills over super strength, wit rather than eye beams and cunning instead of small, genetically mutated, furry creatures. Al is doing a bang up job with this and I am having a load of fun. I hope the audience does too.

  • Marvel Comics Reveals That a New Ultimate Universe Will Spin Out of ‘Ultimate Invasion’

Marvel Comics Reveals That a New Ultimate Universe Will Spin Out of ‘Ultimate Invasion’

In October 2000, Marvel Comics modernized its classic heroes through its line of Ultimate comics. Those comics significantly influenced the Marvel Cinematic Universe (and may continue to do so when the X-Men make their way into the MCU) and were a major part of Jonathan Hickman‘s 2015 event, Secret Wars. Now, as Hickman and Bryan Hitch‘s 4-issue Ultimate Invasion prepares to launch, Marvel has revealed that the series will lead into a relaunch a new line of Ultimate Comics.

After the Maker’s desperate attempt to restore the Ultimate Universe unleashes massive, unintended consequences, a group of Marvel’s heroes are caught in a war between timelines. As universes collide, the foundation of a new line of ULTIMATE COMICS will be built.

To no one’s surprise, the Ultimate version of Reed Richards, known as The Maker, will be front and center in Ultimate Invasion and it seems his actions will be key in the creation of the new line of Ultimate Comics. That line will kick off in November with a one-shot, Ultimate Universe #1, written by Hickman and illustrated by Stefano Caselli. Much like the 2000 launch, the Ultimate Universe will modernize Marvel’s major players.

“The breathtaking epic will introduce readers to this new line that will be home to an array of brand-new hard-hitting series. A fresh start for a new generation, prepare to see your favorite characters redefined for today’s world. Stay tuned in the coming months for more information about this exciting new universe crafted by some of today’s greatest comic book visionaries.”

It’s kind of shocking how much the world has changed in that period of time [since the 2000 launch of the original Ultimate Universe],” said Hickman. “The idea of what it would be like to see the genesis of Super Heroes in a brand new world is a really fascinating exercise.” According to Hitch, familiarity with the old version of the Ultimate Universe isn’t necessary to enjoy this “brand new world”. “You don’t ever have to have read any of the Ultimate Universe to enjoy this,” Hitch explained. “There’s some great comics in there, but this doesn’t need you to be familiar with that stuff. You just need to get in on page one and enjoy this because the story takes you where you need to go.”

The first of the four-issue Ultimate Invasion hits retailers on June 21st and Ultimate Universe #1 will be on shelves in November.

  • J. Michael Straczynski to Return to Monthly Marvel Comics

    J. Michael Straczynski to Return to Monthly Marvel Comics

After a long hiatus from Marvel Comics following the controversial One More Day mini-series he co-created with Joe Quesada, J. Michael Straczynski has returned to writing a monthly ongoing series for the publisher. In an interview with Gizmodo, Straczynski revealed that he and artist Jesús Saiz, who most recently worked with Jason Aaron on The Punisher, will be the creative team behind the new Captain America series launching in September.

The new book will launch following the completion of the current Cold War crossover series which is running between both of the publisher’s current Captain America titles, Captain America: Sentinel of Liberty and Captain America: Symbol of Truth. Straczynski‘s return to Marvel Comics, for whom he wrote ongoing Thor and Spider-Man solo books, is major news and, according to the writer, was a slow-developing process. “Like most things, the process was incremental,” said Straczynski of his return to monthly Marvel Comics. “It started when Wil Moss asked me to do a short piece for the big Thor anniversary issue, which ended up getting a fair bit of attention. Then he asked me to do a Thanos story for that big issue, which also drew a lot of eyeballs, which led to me writing yet another piece for Marvel Age 1000 coming out soon. During all this, Wil Moss asked if I’d write a six-issue mini-series that would be a bit of an Event.  I did so, it was a ton of fun for everyone involved, and Wil gave Alanna [Smith, Marvel comics editor] one of my scripts that involved Captain America.

While we all await news on just what that event that his six-issue mini-series might be, Straczynski reminded everyone that he’s always had Cap on the brain. “Alanna liked how I handled the character, and sends an email asking if I’d like to take over the monthly Captain America book…and that was pretty much the best thing ever, because I’ve always had a strong affinity for Cap, which is why I would sneak him into just about everything I wrote for Spider-Man and Thor.” Longtime fans of Marvel Comics will remember that Straczynski slipped Cap into Amazing Spider-Man #537 where the character gave one his most memorable speeches…one that made its way into Captain America: Civil War.

As for what he has planned for Steve Rogers in the new book, Straczynski says “it’s all about servicing the main character first and foremost.” That’s going to entail tackling a period of time never before explored in depth in Cap comics: Cap’s early, transformative years. “One thing about Steve Rogers that’s never really been addressed is the period between when his parents died, and when he became Captain America. We’re talking about a sickly, skinny 17-year-old kid, trying to survive on his own for because he’s stubborn and independent, on the street for several years, hustling for any gig he can get, even if it’s bigger than he is, trying to afford food and a place to stay. So we will counterpoint a present-tense story in which Captain America faces off against a new villain of supernatural origin, with a story about his younger self, with both stories tightly interwoven.

By exploring those years, Straczynski hopes he’ll get at what makes Steve Rogers–not Captain America–tick. “Because there’s one other, key aspect to that period that we will be addressing. The years young Steve was on his own were the same years during which the American Bund – for all intents and purposes the Nazi Party in America – was growing very powerful in real-world New York, blocks from where he lived. They held public marches and rallies, harassed people, and spread hate, all part of an effort to get America on the side of the Nazis, a campaign that came to a head with the biggest Nazi rally on American soil in history, as tens of thousands of people, Nazis and Nazi sympathizers, crammed into Madison Square Garden to celebrate their dream of a thousand-year Reich.

And Straczynski hopes that by exploring that era, he’ll find in Steve the same type of motivation to be a hero that Peter Parker found after the death of his Uncle Ben. “We are going to put young Steve right into the middle of that real-life vortex, where despite terrible odds he will make a crucial difference at an even more crucial moment. For a young Peter Parker, the murder of his uncle Ben was a transformational event putting him on the path to becoming Spider-Man. This story will be equally transformational, putting a young Steve Rogers on the path to being the hero he eventually becomes.”

It’s a novel pitch from Straczynski and one that could either go a long way in redefining the character or threaten to anger hardcore fans. See for yourself when Captain America #1 hits stores this September.

  • Xosha Roquemore Joins ‘Captain America: New World Order’

Xosha Roquemore Joins ‘Captain America: New World Order’

According to a trade report, actress Xosha Roquemore (Precious, The Mindy Project) has joined the growing cast of Captain America: New World Order. Roquemore’s role was not revealed in the report, but it’s possible she could be playing a member of the Serpent Society, an organization that was recently rumored to appear in the film.

Little has been officially revealed about the film, which will tell the next chapter in Sam Wilson’s (Anthony Mackie) story as Captain America. Danny Ramirez and Carl Lumbly, who debuted in the streaming series The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, will reprise their roles as member of Wilson’s support network while newcomer Shira Haas joins the MCU as Israeli hero Sabra. New World Order will also see the return of Tim Blake Nelson as Samuel Sterns and Harrison Ford stepping into the role of Thaddeus Ross, previously filled by William Hurt.

Rumors about the film’s plot have revolved around the discovery of the precious metal Adamantium on the corpse of the Celestial Tiamut and the pursuit of it by organizations around the world. Should the Serpent Society be in the film, the 38-year-old Roquemore may potentially have landed the role of Rachel Leighton. In the comics, Leighton was a member of the Serpent Society who ended up in a romantic relationship with Steve Rogers. Though Rogers’ time in the MCU is up (for now), the same scenario could unfold with Sam, putting both him and Leighton in jeopardy.

Captain America: New World Order is slated to begin production on one of the thirty-one days of March and is currently slated to land in theaters May 3rd, 2024.
