Marvel Announces Savage ‘Infernal Hulk Vs.’ One-Shots in the “March to Hulk War”

The Green Goliath has been replaced by something infinitely worse, and now the entire Marvel Universe is about to suffer the consequences. Following an official announcement on Marvel.com on June 18, 2026, writer Phillip Kennedy Johnson and artist Nic Klein’s acclaimed, horror-drenched saga is pivoting toward its final act with a brutal four-issue series of Infernal Hulk Vs. one-shots.

Kicking off on September 9, 2026, the March to Hulk War will feature the devastating, systematic defeat of Marvel’s greatest heroes as the demon-possessed behemoth prepares to tear reality apart in early 2027.

The narrative picks up directly from the core Infernal Hulk title, where the ancient, primordial evil known as the Eldest has completely severed Bruce Banner from his alter-ego, taking full control of the monster’s physical form to usher in a new “Age of Monsters.”

The terror begins with Infernal Hulk Vs. Wolverine #1, featuring visceral, heavy-hitting interior artwork from Stormbreaker Jonas Scharf (Ultimate Endgame).

When the X-Men discover the location of several mutants who have been systematically abducted and horribly corrupted by the Infernal Hulk to build his dark army, Logan takes the mission personally. The deadliest X-Man sets out to free his people by the most violent means imaginable—pitting the ultimate mutant killing machine against the literal Father of Horrors.

This isn’t just a random rampage. Johnson revealed that the true purpose of these battles is for the Eldest to crush Earth’s mightiest heroes and forcibly transform them into his twisted, monstrous faction of Infernal Avengers ahead of the upcoming Hulk War crossover event.

Marvel has already mapped out the entire monthly bloodbath leading into the winter:

  • October 2026: Infernal Hulk Vs. Fantastic Four #1
  • November 2026: Infernal Hulk Vs. Spider-Man #1
  • December 2026: Infernal Hulk Vs. The Avengers #1

The March to Hulk War serves as the deliberate, hard-hitting conclusion to the macro-narrative Johnson and Klein first launched way back in Incredible Hulk #1 in 2023.

Johnson has been incredibly candid about the sheer level of gore and psychological dread baked into this crossover roadmap, teasing that the creative team had explicit corporate discussions about exactly how violent they could legally go. “I want to keep ramping up the horror vibe of the Hulk series, and for our readers to see things in these one-shots they’ve never seen before,” Johnson promised.

Editor Mark Paniccia described the premiere issue as an “absolute knockout” of unrelenting action, while Johnson explicitly warned fans to brace themselves for a final page twist in the Wolverine book that he expects to completely “shock” the fandom.

For the past year, Infernal Hulk has been an absolute masterpiece of body horror and mythological dread. By spinning the title out into isolated, monthly slugfests where the Hulk actively defeats and corrupts icons like Logan, Peter Parker, and the Fantastic Four, Marvel is establishing the Eldest as an apex threat. It gives the upcoming Hulk War event a genuine sense of despair—our heroes aren’t just fighting a monster; they are fighting their own twisted, infected allies.

With a powerless Bruce Banner currently running on pure intellect to try and outmaneuver his former body, the stakes couldn’t be higher. By the time the Avengers one-shot wraps in December, the Marvel Universe will be completely defenseless, paving a flawless narrative runway for Hulk War to be a can’t miss event this January 2027.
