Disney + Day: Animated ‘Marvel Zombies’ In Development

After making their MCU debut in What If…?, the Marvel Zombies are headed to Disney Plus in their own animated series. The announcement came today as part of Disney Plus Day.

Mark Millar, who introduced zombies to Marvel Comics during his run on Ultimate Fantastic Four, recently teased the potential for live-action plans for the flesh-eaters. Following their debut in the Ultimate line, The Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman took them into their own 5-issue series which took place on an alternate Earth, Earth-2149, and featured zombie versions of the Avengers, Fantastic Four and X-Men after they were infected by a being from another dimension. Kirkman returned for 5-issue sequel series before Fred Van Lente took over writing duties for 4 further sequels, including 2009’s Marvel Zombies Return. The zombies also made an appearance in 2015’s Secret Wars in their own tie-in miniseries.
