‘Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes’ Wraps Production With New Set Video

It feels like it was yesterday when it was announced that director Wes Ball was going to revive the Planet of the Apes franchise with a new continuation taking place many years after War for the Planet of the Apes wrapped. Titled Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes (wonder just how long these titles will become as the franchise continues to grow), the film will explore the legacy left behind by Caeser in a world where apes have become the dominant species.

It feels like yesterday when they first announced the project with some concept art, but it seems that production has already wrapped on the project. Director Wes Ball took to his personal Twitter account to share that they have finished production with a nifty little video showing some of the early CG used to bring the various apes to life. They are seemingly reusing the technology made famous by the last trilogy, which was a standout blockbuster franchise due to the involvement of The Batman‘s Matt Reeves and it’s fun to get a little look at how they film with these CG-based characters.

We also get a good look at the production title “Forbidden Zone” which may be a hint at where this Kingdom may take place in the canon of this new franchise continuation. It’ll be interesting to see how he carries on the franchise and if it’ll live up to the standard set by the previous ones. It’s also the first of this new adaptation that won’t feature Caeser as its main character, who was brought to life by the always-talented Andy Serkis. We’re entering a new era or rather a new kingdom.

  • ‘Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes’ Adds ‘Severance Actress

‘Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes’ Adds ‘Severance Actress

The upcoming continuation of the iconic Planet of the Apes trilogy is moving full steam ahead, as the 20th Century Studios production has added one more member to its cast. The Hollywood Reporter has unveiled that Dichen Lachman, known for her recent work on the series Severance, has joined the production of Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes, which will explore the aftermath of 2017’s War of the Planet of the Apes long after Caesar’s reign.

In this continuation, we’ll explore two apes on their unique journey as one uncovers human technology and the other is on his way to find freedom. Though, a human woman seemingly becomes essential to his quest and has her own goals. Production is already happening in Australia and Lachman joins the rest of the cast which consists of Freya Allan, William H. Macy, Kevin Durand, and Owen Teague.

As of now, Lachman‘s role remains unclear, but Lachman is a good get for the series. She was recently seen on Jurassic World Dominion as a black market dealer, and even voiced General Atitaya in Raya and the Last Dragon. She also made a big splash with her recent work on the Apple TV+ series though she’s also going to be busy filming the second season of Severance. So, she might have a supporting role in the Planet of the Apes sequel.

William H. Macy Joins ‘Kingdom of The Planet of the Apes’ Cast

The next chapter of the Planet of the Apes franchise has added a Hollywood stalwart to its ranks. William H. Macy has joined the cast for the 20th Century’s Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes in a currently unknown role. He will be joining Owen Teague, Freya Allan, and Peter Macon in the latest installment. Wes Ball, who helmed the Maze Runner film series, is set to direct based on a screenplay written by Josh Friedman, Rick Jaffa, Amanda Silver, and Patrick Aison.

Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes is set to be both a sequel and a new chapter in the film saga after the previous reboot trilogy, with the last two films directed by Matt Reeves. This film franchise has long been one of the most important for the studio since the original Planet of the Apes film in 1968. This will be the first film released following 20th Century was acquired by Disney.

William H. Macy has recently finished an 11-season run for Shameless on Showtime during which he received multiple Emmy nominations for his performance as the lead character, Frank Gallagher. In addition, he played a supporting role in the hit Hulu limited series The Dropout. The star actor is likely best known for prominent roles in films such as Fargo, Air Force One, and Boogie Nights. ‘Planet of the Apes’ Sequel Adds Five New Cast Members

The Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes just gained five more inhabitants. Travis Jeffery, Neil Sandilands, Sara Wiseman, Lydia Peckham, and Ras-Samuel Weld A’abzgi have all joined the cast of the upcoming Apes sequel, which is set to begin a new chapter in the decades-long saga. • ‘Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes’ Adds ‘The Strain’ Star

‘Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes’ Adds ‘The Strain’ Star

It looks like Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes is kicking into high gear, as they are adding quite a few to the cast just after announcing the project. Wes Ball is set to direct the continuation of the original Planet of the Apes trilogy for the 20th Century and it has now added The Strain star Kevin Durand to its cast.

Durand is now the latest to join the cast which now includes Peter Macon, Owen Teague, and Freya Allen. Jessica Jones star Eka Darville was also announced to have joined the cast earlier today. there’s no word if Andy Serkis might be involved in some manner, as he spearheaded the original trilogies as the ape Caeser, but this film with a 2024 planned release technically takes place many years after the original.

It’s definitely going to be interesting to see just how they explore the titular “kingdom” and how humanity co-exists alongside the apes. There’s a lot of potential with this franchise as it moves away from the original that mainly acted as a more modern retelling of the origin from the original films, which wasn’t explored until the fourth entry, Conquest of the Planet of the Apes in 1972. So, perhaps this film acts as the set-up for where we originally got introduced to the science fiction franchise.

Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes will be directed by Wes Ball from a screenplay by Josh Friedman (War of the Worlds), Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver (Rise of the Planet of the Apes), and Patrick Aison. • Owen Teague to Star in New ‘Planet of the Apes’

Owen Teague to Star in New ‘Planet of the Apes’

Deadline has announced that Owen Teague is set to lead the new Planet of the Apes movies for 20th Century. The actor will play the role of the lead primate in the new series of films. Wes Ball (The Maze Runner) is set to direct the film, with production expected to begin later this year.

According to the outlet, details regarding the latest installment are sparse, however, Planet of the Apes has been a hot property for 20th Century since Disney acquired the studio. The hope was to get a new film underway as soon as possible following the acquisition. Ball was hired to write and direct the film in 2019. He’s been hard at work on the script since then, delivering a script to the studio earlier in the summer that is said to have pleased studio executives. Casting on the film began shortly thereafter, with casting for the lead roles officially beginning ahead of the July 4th weekend. The studio is still casting for the human role, but Teague landed the lead primate role in recent weeks after his screen test was said to wow executives.

Teague has built up an impressive resume thus far. Not only has he appeared in both IT films, where he played Patrick Hockstetter, but he’s also appeared in Black Mirror, Locke & Key, and The Stand where he played Harold Lauder. Up next for the actor is Reptile, which he’ll star in alongside Alicia Silverstone, Eileen with Anne Hathaway, and Beth and Don alongside Julia Louis-Dreyfus.
