Quantum Leap is coming back for more. The Hollywood Reporter announced today that the NBC series has been given an order for six more episodes. The series, which is a reboot of the classic series of the same name, launched in September to 3.35 million viewers. The reboot stars Raymond Le as Dr. Ben Seong, a scientist and a man of faith who is part of a team trying to revive the project which saw the disappearance of Dr. Sam Beckett (Scott Bakula) almost 30 years ago.

Le, Ernie Hudson, Caitlin Bassett, Mason Alexander Park and Nanrisa Lee star in the rebooted series. While original series star Scott Bakula was expected to return for the reboot, he has since confirmed he is not involved with the project, despite his image being used in the pilot episode.

Per Deadline, Ernie Hudson is set to join the cast of the pilot for NBC’s reboot of Quantum Leap. He will play a lead alongside Raymond Lee, who joins the series as a character named Dr. Ben Seong. Hudson’s role will be that of Herbert “Magic” Williams, a Vietnam veteran and head of the time travel project at Quantum Leap. His character is said to use a “bit of politicking and his military know-how to keep the Pentagon at bay” in order to help Ben bring back after he gets stuck in the 80s.

  • NBC’s ‘Quantum Leap’ Revival Adds Raymond Lee

NBC’s ‘Quantum Leap’ Revival Adds Raymond Lee

NBC is pushing forward on its remake of the cult classic sci-fi drama from the 90s, Quantum Leap. It looks like they have found their successor to Dr. Sam Beckett (Scott Bakula) in actor Raymond Lee, who will take on the leading role of Dr. Ben Seong. His character will not only be a scientist but also a man of faith, as he is part of a new team trying to revive the project which saw the disappearance of Becket almost 30 years ago. The only tease for the film’s plot is that their experiment will see Seong get stuck in the late 1980s with amnesia.

The series will take place in the current time with nods to the original with La Brea executive producers Steven Lilien and Bryan Wyndbrandt writing the script The original creator Don Bellisario is also involved alongside co-narrator Deborah Pratt. Universal Television is producing the project alongside I Have an Idea! Entertainment, Belisarius Productions, and Quinn’s House Productions.

Lee has been busy with his work on AMC’s Kevin Can F*** Himself, which is going to come to an end in its second season. He also has worked on projects like Here and Now, Mozart in the Jungle, Made for Love, Scandal, and Prodigal Son. It’ll be interesting to see how his character steps into the shoes of Beckett and how they might twist the original concept in a way that adds more tension to his travel into the past.

  • NBC Orders Pilot for ‘Quantum Leap’ Sequel

NBC Orders Pilot for ‘Quantum Leap’ Sequel

NBC is looking to bring back the hit series, Quantum Leap.

It was announced early Thursday that the network has given a pilot order to a Quantum Leap sequel. The potential series would be set 30 years after the original television show, which ran for a total of five seasons on NBC between 1989-1993. The new project will reportedly bring back Scott Bakula as Dr. Sam Beckett, judging by the synopsis, although NBC has yet to confirm his involvement.

The sequel takes place 30 years after the events of the original series, where Dr. Sam Beckett stepped into the Quantum Leap accelerator and vanished. Following his vanishing, a new team is brought in to restart the project to try and understand the mysteries behind the machine and the man who built it. As it stands, the order from NBC is only for a pilot episode. However, this is the first major movement on any Quantum Leap revival since Bakula teased the potential project last year. At the time, the actor cited the rights as the reason a revival hadn’t happened yet. Now, though, it would seem that problem has been sorted.

Creator Don Bellisario will serve as executive producer for the sequel series, while Steven Lilien and Bryan Wynbrandt (Gotham) serve as the showrunners. Should the project move forward, it will be a part of NBC’s 2023 line-up.
