Syfy has given an early Season 3 renewal to Resident Alien. The news comes courtesy of The Hollywood Reporter with the outlet noting the renewal comes three weeks ahead of the premiere of the show’s second half of Season 2.

Resident Alien stars Alan Tudyk as Harry, an extraterrestrial sent to Earth on a mission to destroy all humans. As it turns out, though, following a crash landing, he assumes the identity of a doctor and finds himself struggling to follow through on his mission. The series also stars Corey Reynolds, Elizabeth Bowen, Levi Fiehler, Meredith Garrettson, Alice Wetterlund, and Judah Prehn.

The Syfy series has proven to be a success for the network, averaging 2.3 million viewers per episode – that includes delayed viewing. Across all platforms, Syfy has revealed that Resident Alien manages to grow to nearly 11 million viewers.

The back half of Season 2 will hit Syfy on Aug. 10th. Audiences can stream new episodes of Resident Alien through the Syfy app or on Peacock the day after they air. • Glen/Glenda to Return in ‘Chucky’ Season 2

Glen/Glenda to Return in ‘Chucky’ Season 2

It looks like an icon will make their return in the second season of Chucky, as SyFy has announced that Lachlan Watson will take on the role of Glen/Glenda in the season. They are the genderfluid child of Chucky and Tiffany that made their debut in Seed of Chucky. While they were briefly referenced in the first season, this will mark their first return since 2004, when Billy Boyd voiced the Chucky offspring. Check out the special message from Watson on taking on the role:

It’s unclear how they’ll make their return to the franchise, especially given where we last saw the character. They join an already stacked cast that already saw the return of Brad Dourif and Jennifer Tilly. The first season continued where Curse and Cult of Chucky left off, which set up a new direction for the murdering kid’s toy.

The series was pitched as a new take on the mythos and characters, especially after a remake was put in place that tried to reinvigorate the franchise on the silver screen, but just couldn’t bring the same kind of magic as the original. So, the series offered what everyone was hoping for and continued the franchise with the creative minds that made it an iconic part of everyone’s horror collection.

  • Devon Sawa Returns to Syfy’s ‘Chucky’ Season 2 as a New Character

Devon Sawa Returns to Syfy’s ‘Chucky’ Season 2 as a New Character

If you thought Chucky was unkillable, it seems the same could be said of actor Devon Sawa. After being killed twice in the first season of the new Chucky Syfy series, he’ll return in the next entry as well. After playing the now dead twins, Logan and Lucas Wheeler, he will take on a new role in the second season. The actor shared a video where he read his invitation to return, which was written in a way that Chucky sent him the letter.

I don’t usually make these videos but I just wanted to read this email from my costar, so you can see what I go through,” explains Sawa in the clip. “It says, ‘Dear Gavin Sawa, I hope this email finds you well, I just want you to know that the only reason that you’re here is because I allowed it. Have a great season 2. Love, Chucky. P.S. Just kidding, you suck.

    Gavin Sawa

Sawa has quite a history with horror films, as he’s also appeared in Final Destination, Black Friday, and many more films. It also looks like he left quite an impression with show creator Don Mancini, the creator of the Chucky‘s main character. He’s had the habit of recasting actors in the past, such as Jennifer Tilly not only playing the doll’s girlfriend Tiffany Valentine but even a version of herself.

Fiona Dourif, the daughter of Chucky voice actor Brad Dourif, also played Nica Pierce in the 2013 film Curse of Chucky but went on to appear in the first season as the human form of the original serial killer that would become Chucky, Charles Lee Ray. So, Mancini has his fun with bringing actors back in creative ways.

  • Syfy and USA Network Renews ‘Chucky’ for Season 2

Syfy and USA Network Renews ‘Chucky’ for Season 2

Looks like USA Network and Syfy were quite satisfied with the first season of Chucky, as it just got renewed for a second season. The sequel series that continues to explore the story of the killer doll, who first was introduced in the Child’s Play franchise, will return in 2022 with the new season. Series creator, Don Mancini who also created the original franchise, shares his excitement about the renewal:

We’re thrilled to start pulling the strings on a second season of puppet mayhem with ‘Chucky. Many thanks to our partners at USA, SYFY and UCP for their incredible support and guidance bringing ‘Chucky’ to the small screen, bigger than ever. And to the fans, Chucky sends his still-undying thanks, and a message: ‘This isn’t over, not by a long shot. You better watch your backs in 2022

    Don Mancini

The series sees Chucky pushing a small suburban town into chaos after getting picked up in a yard sale. Of course, his arrival means murder isn’t far that haunts the locals in ways they never expected. Brad Dourif returned to voice the doll once again and is also treated by other franchise veterans Devon Sawa and Jennifer Tilly. It’ll be interesting to see how the second season builds upon the events of the first and where his story might be heading once he returns in 2022.
