The future adventures of Kamala Khan beyond The Marvels may be happening sooner rather than later on Disney+. Following the critically successful first season of Ms. Marvel earlier this year, questions had begun to circulate if a season two would be in the works. Fans may now have a more clear answer thanks to the primary directors of the series. Adil El Arbi shared on Instagram a minute-long sizzle reel discussing the success of the first season of the show, though the main point of intrigue comes from his comment of asking “who’s ready for season 2?!”
It shouldn’t come as any real type of surprise that Ms. Marvel would receive a second season. The format of the show served as one of Marvel Studios’ first real triumphs in capturing the spirit of a television series (as opposed to segmented films) since producing content for Disney+. As well, there has been an overwhelmingly positive response from especially younger audiences towards the Iman Vellani-led ensemble cast.
One question that can be asked following this potential confirmation is which (if any) other Marvel Studios series will receive follow-up seasons. So far, Loki is the only other project with a confirmed season two, which is currently in production and is slated to air in the summer of 2023. Moon Knight and She-Hulk: Attorney at Law specifically appeared to be primed to have continuing stories set on Disney+. It ultimately remains to be seen when they would officially be announced, though, as with season two of Ms. Marvel itself.
Thankfully, fans of Kamala Khan won’t have to wait as long as the potential season two for her to return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Vellani is set to co-lead in The Marvels alongside Brie Larson and Teyonah Parris. That film is scheduled to release theatrically on July 28, 2023.
The wave of Disney pushing back release dates for theatrical projects continues even with the gradual decline of the pandemic. It has officially been revealed that multiple projects are moving around from their initially announced release dates.
Most notably, the untitled Marvel Studios film initially scheduled to release on February 16, 2024, has moved back a few months into September 6, 2024. It has yet to be revealed what film would’ve filled this date (especially with the other later releasing 2024 films being revealed earlier this year at San Diego Comic-Con), but it has been speculated by some that this would’ve been the date for the Deadpool sequel film in development and apparently nearing the start of production. As well, Haunted Mansion will be moving up from its scheduled August 11, 2023 release to March 10, 2023.

One point of concern in all these moves comes with the removal of Patty Jenkins’ Rogue Squadron from Disney’s release schedule. The film had previously been earmarked for a December 22, 2023 release, but essentially no updates have been made for the film in an extended period of time. This certainly doesn’t mean that the film is canceled, but it serves as an indicator that the highly anticipated film in the Star Wars franchise is much further away than Lucasfilm had initially planned for.

The Blade Runner universe is about to open up a major,r new corner. It has been officially announced that the series Blade Runner 2099 has been picked up for active development by Amazon’s Prime Video. Ridley Scott, director of the original film in the franchise, is set to serve as an executive producer for the new series. Silka Luisa has written the script and will also be an executive producer. In addition, Alcon Entertainment and Scott Free Productions will be working with Amazon Studios to produce this new series.
Blade Runner, which was based on the novel Do Androids Dream of Electric Sleep?, released in 1982 and followed the tale of Harrison Ford’s Rick Deckhard tracking of fugitive bioengineered human replicants in a dystopian 2019 Los Angeles. The sequel, Blade Runner 2049 starred Ryan Gosling as a replicant and his investigation into a societal-level conspiracy.
Producing a live-action series in the Blade Runner universe has long been a priority for Amazon. Vernon Sanders, the head of global television at Amazon Studios, spoke about the company’s excitement to be working on this new series.

Not much is currently known about what the specific plot of this series may entail. Though as one can notice from the title, it’s set 50 years after the events of Blade Runner 2049, the Denis Villenueve-directed 2017 sequel.
It has been a busy year for David Harbour, and his slate is set to grow with a new marquee film project. The actor has been announced to be starring in a film adaptation of PlayStation’s Gran Turismo video game franchise. The project is set to be co-produced by Sony Pictures and Playstation Productions, based on a screenplay by Jason Hall and Zach Baylan with Neill Blomkamp set to direct.
The film is said to be based on the true story of a teenage gamer who subsequently became a competition-winning professional race-car driver thanks to it. It’s unknown at this time how Harbour’s role will play into the narrative.
The Japanese-originated franchise Gran Turismo released its first game, created by Kazunori Yamauchi, in 1997. The franchise has been praised for revolutionizing the racing genre of video games through its authenticity to the driving experience. The most recent game in the franchise, Gran Turismo 7, was released for Playstation consoles on March 2, 2022.
For Harbour, this adds another notable role to his calendar, shortly after it was announced that he was set to return as Alexei Shostakov, a.k.a. The Red Guardian, for Marvel Studios’ Thunderbolts. Harbour continues this hot streak after 2022’s fourth season of Stranger Things , and will subsequently return for the fifth and final season.
Gran Turismo is currently scheduled to release theatrically on August 11, 2023.
Following his appearance in Eternals, questions have been raised about the status of Kit Harrington’s Dane Whitman in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The film’s post-credit tag definitely set the stage for his character to take on the superheroic mantle of the Black Knight. Between seemingly being about to reveal his family lineage to Sersi (before her abduction by Arishem the Judge) and retrieving the Ebony Blade, Marvel Studios made it clear there are bigger plans for his character beyond his supporting role in Eternals.
According to Kit Harrington, however, the plans for when he would return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe remain unclear. In an interview with the Happy Sad Confused podcast, the actor discussed his uncertainty about what Marvel Studios has planned for him.
I don’t know how much they’re planning. And you know, I hope to be involved in future stuff, with that character, with Dane Whitman, and that he might go on and be the thing that everyone quotes at me in the street. But I honestly don’t know. I don’t know what their plans are. I know they’re going into a kind of Phase 5.
Kit Harrington
While one can certainly take his quote at face value, a fair amount of skepticism that there are currently no plans for Kit Harrington to return as the Black Knight can also be applied. This is based on the well-documented history of actors feigning ignorance about their future at Marvel Studios, only to subsequently be revealed to be in a notable role for an upcoming project. A most recent example of this is Wyatt Russell’s denial of having any plans to be brought back as John Walker, and then being revealed just months later to be a lead in the upcoming Thunderbolts film.
With that in mind, the most obvious place to anticipate a return for Harrington would be 2023’s Blade. It would serve as the obvious connection after the film’s star Mahershala Ali provided a voice cameo for the post-credit scene of Eternals. Though whether or not Kit Harrington does show up in Blade, it will be interesting to follow what character direction is taken with the Black Knight.
With D23 officially in the past, the waiting game for the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe slate moves forward. With that in mind, one of the most heavily anticipated projects for Phase Five of the MCU is Daredevil: Born Again. Audiences have long been clamoring for Charlie Cox to reprise his role of Matthew Murdock in the Marvel Cinematic Universe since the cancellation of the original Netflix series in 2018. And by the point in which casual fans had generally resided themselves to the notion that the Netflix universe of characters was fully finished, Marvel Studios dropped two bombshells late last year with the return of Murdock in Spider-Man: No Way Home and Vincent D’Onofrio’s Wilson Fisk in Hawkeye. And now following Charlie Cox’s upcoming involvement in She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, Matt Murdock will once again star in his own series with Born Again.
Following D’Onofrio‘s return in Hawkeye, his fate was left in question with the finale of the Disney+ series. It has since been confirmed, however, that Wilson Fisk will be involved with both Echo and Daredevil: Born Again. And when it comes to Born Again, D’Onofrio has been outspoken in his excitement for his involvement with Charlie Cox. In a tweet today, the actor discussed his return and has promised fans that the revival will be worth the wait.
It certainly is a lofty promise from Vincent D’Onofrio about Daredevil: Born Again. Though with three times the episode count of the other Marvel Studios Disney+ franchises and the quality of most of the original Netflix series, it’s certainly not impossible to match. The concept of these characters being fully present in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the larger-than-life nature of the franchise certainly could become a major point of interest. At this time, not much is known about what Born Again may entail and if anyone else from the original Netflix series (or other Marvel Netflix franchises) will be involved.
Daredevil: Born Again is currently scheduled to begin filming next year and release its 18-episode run in the Spring of 2024.
While much of the entertainment zeitgeist has followed the events of D23 today, Ubisoft Forward has also been chugging away with an array of announcements for their video game studio. Though one bit of news that will stir up some discussion is Ubisoft’s plans for the television platform.
It has been confirmed at the online showcase that a live-action Assassin’s Creed series is scheduled to be produced for Netflix. Head of Ubisoft Film and Television Jason Altman further elaborated on the planned series.

The notion of a live-action Assassin’s Creed series is certainly not a brand new announcement. Word of a partnership between Ubisoft and Netflix can be traced all the way back to October 2020. Beyond the announcements that the series itself is happening, not much is known in terms of the narrative that Netflix will choose to adapt. Though hopefully for fans of the franchise, this new reconfirmation from Ubisoft is a promising sign that plans are beginning to actually move forward. If any further developments arise about this series, they will be reported on here at Murphy’s Multiverse.
As She-Hulk: Attorney at Law continues its run on Disney+, much speculation has arisen about where the plot of the series will go next. The fourth episode, which premiered earlier today, left off with Jennifer Walters having a lawsuit filed against her by a newly released Titania over the trademarked name of “She-Hulk”. Audiences who are anticipating a continued focus on the legal aspects of the series from this revelation should be excited for what’s in store. Actress Ginger Gozaga, who plays the role of Jen Walters’ best friend Nikki, spoke with TVLine about what audiences can expect for the second half of the series.
Yes, that hot legal action with pens and highlighters that you’ve all been asking for! [Laughs] The show is now definitely switching into what it looks like when you have petty, idiot supervillains and superheroes who are either antagonizing you or need to be represented by you. The thing about working in a superhuman law division is we can represent anyone, so we get comic book characters that haven’t entered the Marvel Universe yet, that you haven’t seen in any of the trailers. And you get to see the idiocy of the ridiculously fun superheroes who have legal trouble and may or may not listen to their attorneys. I’m really excited for people to see these guest stars that are in the comic books.
Ginger Gonzaga
Based on what Gonzaga has described, She-Hulk: Attorney at Law is fully swinging into the perspective of the “legal comedy” that the series was initially previewed to be. Specifically, a legal battle between the characters of She-Hulk and Titania could very well become a more central arc that the show can take on for the remainder of its first season. This is something that Jameela Jamil seemingly alluded to as early as the red carpet premiere of the series.
Ultimately, fans of She-Hulk: Attorney at Law will have to wait till next week to find out more about this direction of the series as the fifth episode is set to premiere on September 15 on Disney+.
Once thought to be a lost remnant of Marvel Television, the character of Daredevil has become a recent and sudden mainstay in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Between the addition of a second brief scene with the character in the theatrical re-release of Spider-Man: No Way Home and the anticipation for his involvement in She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, Charlie Cox’s portrayal of the character has become a major talking point for the online fan landscape. The gradual return of Matthew Murdock is ultimately set to culminate in the revival series of Daredevil: Born Again, which is currently set to arrive on Disney+ in the Spring of 2024.
A major question being discussed is how much of the supporting ensemble of the original Netflix series (or any of the shows set within that specific pocket of the universe) will be returning for the show. At this time, it’s only confirmed that Charlie Cox will return in the titular role and that Vincent D’Onofrio will return to portray Wilson Fisk, a.k.a. The Kingpin. Though if she had her way with the series, actress Rosario Dawson would like to return to her role of Claire Temple. The actress sat down with The Hollywood Reporter to discuss her desire to return for Daredevil: Born Again and be part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Oh yeah. For sure. You don’t even see her in that last ‘tell Claire to go home’ moment on LukeCage. So what is that? You know it’s terrible. So, yeah, I’d be super curious, but I’m just so stoked for everybody, though. It’s been a long time coming. I was really excited to know that all of our shows are actually part of the MCU now, with Charlie [Cox] and Vincent [D’Onofrio] coming over into these different projects now. So, yeah, 18 episodes [of Daredevil: Born Again]? I’m there! Disney, Marvel, Star Wars, they know where I am.
Rosario Dawson
It’s not a massive surprise for someone working in the entertainment industry to have a desire to be part of a marquee franchise project. And she already has a working connection with Disney through her recent involvement in the Hulu series Dopesick and her widespread involvement as the live-action Ahsoka Tano in the greater Star Wars universe. It ultimately remains to be seen if a return in Daredevil: Born Again will happen, but it certainly will have people talking even more in anticipation of the series.
SPOILER WARNING: This article will discuss spoilers from Spider-Man: No Way Home alongside the additional footage released in the extended cut.
With the official re-release of Spider-Man: No Way Home this Labor Day Weekend, Sony added extra incentive for audiences to get back into theaters by folding in previously unseen footage into an extended cut. Whether or not this was worth removing from the digital and Blu-ray release of the film remains to be seen, but nonetheless, there are some interesting new facets to discuss coming out of it. Before getting into the film itself, audiences are treated to an introduction via a video conference call from Tom Holland, Andrew Garfield, and Tobey Maguire. It’s a fairly straightforward exchange of pleasantries and gratitude about the experience of working on Spider-Man: No Way Home. Now a breakdown of the new footage.

FIRST ACT
The very beginning of the film remains the same as the original, with the first additions coming in the form of extended investigations done by Arian Moyaed’s Cleary with Peter Parker and company. The most noticeable difference is with Cleary having extended conversations with Peter about his previous ventures and his penchant for being in action near popular monuments. In addition, the infamous Night Monkey is addressed in the interrogation process.
The first outright new scene brought into this cut of No Way Home is the notably cut scene involving Harry Holland’s drug-dealing character being stopped by Spider-Man. The main focus then switches towards the civilians in the surrounding area accosting Peter Parker despite stopping a criminal which is built around a debate about the morality and culpability of Spider-Man being erroneously claimed to be a 14-year-old child. This scene closes out with the green paint being thrown on the suit of Spider-Man (as opposed to it just being part of a Daily Bugle montage).
The most distinct additions in this new cut are scenes at Midtown High School. Essentially every scene is expanded upon with new lines of dialogue from supporting and background characters expressing their excitement or disdain towards the webhead. One moment of note is Hannibal Buress’ Coach Wilson loudly goading Peter Parker to climb a wall during gym class with other classmates gawking onwards. This ultimately culminates in a new extended montage of interspersed sit-down interviews done by Betty Brant with supporting members of the Midtown ensemble. Of note here is the comically terrible green screen akin to the wonky production quality seen at the beginning of Spider-Man: Far From Home. The montage provides Buress, Martin Starr, and J.B. Smoove time to flex their comedic chops in the way of one-off cutaway lines. Additionally, audiences further dive into the vapid psyche of Flash Thompson in the midst of selling his new autobiography and receive some awkward closure between the Ned Leeds and Betty Brant relationship.

SECOND ACT
After leaving Midtown High, this version of No Way Home has no real changes to the structure of the film for a considerable amount of time. There are only two tangible additions of note. Firstly, there is a brief segment from J. Jonah Jameson on the Daily Bugle interviewing a construction worker on-site during the fight between Spider-Man, Sandman, and Electro. However, the construction worker comedically refers to it being a conflict between Spider-Man with a sparkle web fighting Dirt Man and a Power Monster (to the bemusement and confusion of Jameson). This scene is essentially an extension that leads into J. Jonah Jameson receiving the tip about the location of Peter Parker at the F.E.A.S.T. facility.
And then, this is followed up with the long-rumored second scene involving Charlie Cox’s Matthew Murdock. The lawyer is seen representing and defending Happy Hogan while under investigation from Cleary and his team at Damage Control. However, Hogan is distracted by watching the arrival of Peter Parker, May, and the villains into his condominium on the security camera via his phone (this scene is spliced with the original cut version of Peter and co. entering the condo). Murdock accosts Hogan for being distracted and closes by insisting on Jon Favreau’s character to stop sweating so much.

THIRD ACT
Following the new Matt Murdock scene, there are no new full scenes added to the film in the new cut. However, audiences will come to find a few new brief exchanges between the Spider-Man variants while on the Statue of Liberty scaffolding. These are all extensions of conversations already seen in the original No Way Home. Of note, Andrew Garfield’s variant continues his motif of being uber-excited about being able to interact with two versions of himself and is already planning a future meet-up between the trio. In addition, there are further points made about Tobey Maguire’s ability to create organic web-fluid and the unconscious process in which he generates it. Audiences will likely find a brief, yet tender exchange between Maguire and Garfield’s versions discussing the thought of being able to have second chances on past mistakes to resonate most strongly out of all of the additions. Once the villains then arrive for the final battle, the film remains the same course with no changes or additions abound.

POST CREDIT SCENE
Though there still remains one last surprise for audiences who stick around to the end of the film. A new post-credit scene is introduced that adds an interesting perspective to the resolution of Spider-Man: No Way Home. It takes the point of view of a final school news broadcast from Betty Brant celebrating the graduating class of Midtown High. In it, she discusses all the various events that they’ve gone through during their years, including The Blip (with Betty and Jason Ionello dusting and returning during news broadcasts). Though what’s most notable is the presence (or lack thereof) of Peter Parker. To slightly dispute the leak description from Reddit, Tom Holland’s character is technically present but is conventionally barely cut out of frame in every photo he is in (or has birds flying in front of his face). And of course, there is no mention or memory of him during the scene.
This helps bring new insight and understanding towards the nature of Doctor Strange’s spell and how the memory of Peter Parker was wiped from the minds of everyone in the world. And of course, provides a discreetly somber reminder of the lonely place Spider-Man is in at the end of the film.
THOUGHTS AND OPINIONS
Ultimately, the extended edition of Spider-Man: No Way Home was a fun experience, but certainly not game-changing in any way. As one can infer from the breakdown, a vast majority of the new scenes come from the first act of the film and at Midtown High School. While all the scenes brought new perspectives and enjoyable moments, director Jon Watts and his team made the right call in making the opening of the film as succinct as it was. Confirmation that Angourie Rice’s Betty Brant is an unsung hero in this first Spider-Man trilogy in the Marvel Cinematic Universe is almost certainly the main takeaway. The only scene that could be considered worthwhile to have been included in the original cut was the Matt Murdock-Happy Hogan scene and the new lines from the Spider-Man variants solely from how little was changed via their additions. It will come down to the individual viewers to determine if the extended cut of Spider-Man: No Way Home was worth a full-on new theatrical release. However, if a fan is interested in being able to see the film again on the big screen as it was designed, it’s certainly an enjoyable experience either way.
