Marvel Studios Adds to the  Ongoing Collection of ‘Agatha’ Titles

UPDATE: The post has since been removed by Marvel Studios

Marvel Studios next Disney Plus streaming series will feature Kathryn Hahn’s return as Agatha Harkness but at this point, fans might have a better idea of the series’ plot than its title. After originally being introduced as Agatha: House of Harkness, the show has seen a series of different titles emerge over the past year. Now, we can add another to the list.

In a new post across its social media platforms, Marvel Studios has rolled out another “new” title for the streaming series.

    https://twitter.com/MarvelStudios/status/1790049609877729500?t=fEKlqdnqVWAlPA57JuKCJg&s=19

The new title, Agatha: The Lying Witch with Great Wardrobe–which is clearly a spin on The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe–, is the latest in a line of titles that fans have started to believe will ultimately be the names of the individual episodes of the show. It joins Agnes of Westview, Agatha: Coven of Chaos, Agatha: Darkold Diaries and Agatha among the six different titles revealed…so far. If thr fan theory is correct, we should expect to see 3 more title cards before the show hits D+ this Fall.

  • Mark Strong Confirmed to Appear in a Mystery Role in ‘The Penguin’

Mark Strong Confirmed to Appear in a Mystery Role in ‘The Penguin’

In a now-deleted Instagram post, Mark Strong‘s personal trainer, Giacomo Farci, confirmed that the star has a role in the upcoming MAX streaming series, The Penguin. While it’s not the first time the actor’s name has been associated with the project, Farci’s comments are much more believable than when Strong was listed as part of the cast on IMDB a couple of months ago. Now, the real question is, of course, who will the actor be playing?

With Shazam! baddie Doctor Sivana and Green Lantern goober Sinestro among the roles on his resume, Strong already has a notable history portraying DC villains. While there’s no indication by Farci who Strong will be playing in The Penguin, it seems more likely than not that it will be yet another villain given what’s known about the project. Given that the streaming series will serve to bridge the gap between 2022’s The Batman and 2026’s The Batman Part II, it’s also possible Strong’s character could appear in the Matt Reeves‘-helmed sequel and though he didn’t share the identity of Strong’s character, Farci did leave one hint for fans to decipher.

When asked which character his client was playing, Farci said he was unable to answer the question but then encouraged the fan who posed the question to “watch Gotham” which he then said was “a good series for DC lovers.” Then, to make sure the fan caught the hint, Farci capped off the sentence with a cute winky face emoji.

Over 5 seasons, the Fox series Gotham used a whole slew of villains from Batman’s rogues gallery. Some of those make more sense for Strong than others, such as psychopath Victor Zsasz, Mr. Freeze, Hugo Strange or even Clayface; however, given that The Penguin seems very mob-centric, it’s also possible Strong might play any number of mafioso types who could be vying for power after Carmine Falcone’s death. We’ll all find out together when The Penguin streams on MAX later this year.

  • George Miller Reveals One Marvel Studios’ Project He’d Be Willing to Direct

George Miller Reveals One Marvel Studios’ Project He’d Be Willing to Direct

Director George Miller is one of Hollywood’s true icons. His Mad Mad trilogy stands as exemplar in the world of dystopian visions and he’s not done yet. Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga is expected to rock the box office this Memorial Day weekend and another installment in the franchise, Mad Max: The Wasteland, is already in production. There’s more to Miller than just the Mad Max franchise, of course; after all, this is the man who directed Happy Feet and Happy Feet Two, as you know. However, due to a twist of fate, Miller has yet to tackle a superhero film despite being attached to helm Justice League: Mortal before the project fell apart. While it seemed like Miller’s time to tackle something in the genre may have passed, the director recently revealed there is one project that he’d consider directing.

In an interview with Comic Book, Miller revealed that he would be interested in working with Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga star Chris Hemsworth on Thor 5.

I would work with Chris on anything. I really would. He’s a wonderful actor. He’s got the full range of all the skills,” said Miller when asked if he would be interested in helming Hemsworth‘s next Thor film. “I mean, you’ve got to be athletic, physically. But, you also gotta be athletic emotionally and intellectually to take on these very, ultimately fairly complex, any role really,” he continued. “So, I was very lucky with all my cast and particularly in the way that Anya [Taylor-Joy] and Chris matched each other. Particularly towards the end of the month.

The timing of Miller’s comments could not be more perfect as Hemsworth recently revealed he’d like to return for another Thor film as long as Marvel Studios was willing to move away from the sillier tones of Thor: Love and Thunder. And with Disney big shot Bob Iger‘s mandate to have Marvel Studios look back at existing franchises that have delivered in the past–especially Avengers and Avengers-related one–Thor 5 does seem likely and it’s highly unlikely that Taika Waititi would return to direct. That means Miller may just get his crack at a superhero movie sooner rather than later.

  • This Is Most Definitely the Way: Sigourney Weaver in Talks to Join ‘The Mandalorian & Grogu’

This Is Most Definitely the Way: Sigourney Weaver in Talks to Join ‘The Mandalorian & Grogu’

The cast of The Mandalorian already counts modern-day sci-fi queen Katee Sackhoff as one of its key characters in Bo-Katan Kryze. Now, as the streaming series prepares to make the jump to the big screen comes word that the OG sci-fi queen is in talks to step into a role in the galaxy far, far away.

According to Jeff “The In” Sneider, Sigourney Weaver is in talks to join Lucasfilm’s next Star Wars movie, The Mandalorian & Grogu.

Weaver’s potential role in the Jon Favreau-helmed flick was not revealed though it is reportedly a “key role.” The Mandalorian & Grogu will begin production soon ahead of a scheduled May 22, 2026 release.

  • BTS Photo Provides First Look at Sebastian Stan’s Bucky Barnes in ‘Thunderbolts*’

BTS Photo Provides First Look at Sebastian Stan’s Bucky Barnes in ‘Thunderbolts*’

Earlier this year, Sebastian Stan‘s absence from the set of Marvel Studios’ Thunderbolts* and the reports of him not being a key member of the titular team caused quite a stir. Fans speculated that Marvel Studios had decided to write the character off, potentially even killing the fan favorite. While none of that seems likely, fans can now rest easy that Stan does indeed play some role in the film.

As production on the film made its way outdoors in Atlanta, photographer Atlanta Filming caught the first look at Stan’s Bucky Barnes.

It’s definitely not the type of costume fans have grown accustomed to seeing on Barnes, however. Looking more like he’s headed to some sort of Congressional hearing that into battle, Stan was captured sporting significantly longer hair than in his last appearance in The Falcon and The Winter Soldier as well as a fresh new bit of facial hair. Given Thunderbolts* will feature a significant amount of flashbacks, it’s not entirely clear if this set photo is capturing something taking place in the past or in whatever passes for the MCU’s present day.

Thunderbolts* is in production now and is set to hit theaters on May 2, 2025.

  • Frank Grillo Joins the Cast of DC Studios ‘Peacemaker’ Season 2

Frank Grillo Joins the Cast of DC Studios ‘Peacemaker’ Season 2

Having been cast as Rick Flag Sr. In the upcoming streaming series Creature Commandos, Frank Grillo is already a part of the all-new DCU. And as audiences wait for the animated Max series to debut, they can also look forward to Grillo’s first live-action appearance, too.

As revealed on Instagram by DC Studios’ co-chair James Gunn, Grillo has joined the cast of Peacemaker Season 2.

As is expected to be the case with the entire cast of voice actors on Creature Commandos, Grillo will portray the live-action iteration of Flag Sr. in the John Cena lead streaming series. Production on the second season of Peacemaker kicked off last month.

Gunn created the series and directed five of the first season’s eight episodes. While he will be unable to carry that load on Season 2 due to his commitment to Superman, Gunn will still direct some episodes. Though no release window has been set, Peacemaker Season 2 is expected to stream on Max in 2025.

  • ‘X-Men ’97’ Showrunner Reveals How Many Seasons He Had Planned, Teases a Major Potential Storyline

‘X-Men ’97’ Showrunner Reveals How Many Seasons He Had Planned, Teases a Major Potential Storyline

Not since WandaVision has a Marvel Studios’ streaming project generated as much positive online hype as X-Men ’97. The animated revival has been overwhelmingly well-received and has fans clamoring for more projects set within a connected animated universe. With Season 1 nearing the end of its run, fans are already looking ahead to Season 2, which is deep in development. A third season of the series was recently given the green light but with a comic book history as deep and storied as that of the X-Men, it’s a series that could certainly make a long run. Just how long is unclear but it seems as though there was a clear plan in place at one point.

According to Beau DeMayo, who served as the showrunner for Season 1 and the yet-to-be-released Season 2 before being relieved of his duties, there was a 5-season plan in place for X-Men ’97.

Though he’s no longer officially associated with the series, DeMayo has been incredibly active on social media. Whether addressing fan questions and concerns, explaining creative decisions or supplying fans with weekly “homework assignments” to prepare them for the next episode, DeMayo has been a major part of the weekly water cooler discussion. When asked this week if the impending Season 1 finale would end of a cliffhanger, DeMayo skirted the question while also providing a very interesting bit of information.

While we’ll have to wait until next week to see how things will be left, it seems as though the studio, at one point in time, had big plans for the series. Whether or not the studio will go through with DeMayo’s original plan remains to be seen but with the amount of positive attention the show has received to date, it’s hard to imagine they won’t milk it for everything they can.

With Season 1 ending soon, fans are already looking ahead to what future seasons may hold. While the most recent episode has generated a lot of speculation about the Marvel Comics villain Onslaught making an appearance, another major X-Men villain has been the subject of most fan theories for quite some time: Apocalypse. When asked by a fan if adapting the villain’s most famous story, Age of Apocalypse, into a future season of X-Men ’97 was part of the plan, DeMayo made it pretty clear things are headed in that direction.

Of course, there’s plenty left to wrap up in next week’s season finale and with the fast pace of the animated series, it’s not as though an adaptation of Age of Apocalypse–or any other revered comic book story–would last an entire season. However, given the success of the series, it’s good to know that even though he’s no longer part of the team, DeMayo may have left behind a very complete road map to success for future seasons.

  • Two More Names Emerge as Potential Scribes for Marvel Studios’ ‘X-Men’

Two More Names Emerge as Potential Scribes for Marvel Studios’ ‘X-Men’

Recent rumors have pointed to Marvel Studios bumping their X-Men reboot to the front of the line with an eye on rolling it out as part of the Multiverse Saga. With each passing day, it looks as though there may just be some merit to that as more rumblings surface about the studio’s search for a creative team for the project. It’s not always easy to separate facts from bullshit but it does seem clear that the studio is indeed narrowing down the pool of potential writers for the film. Now, a new report provides a pair of surprising names that might be in the mix as well as a potential timeline.

According to Jeff “The In” Sneider, Rafe Judkins and Michael Lesslie are among the names on Marvel Studios’ shortlist to write the screenplay for their X-Men reboot. Sneider also believes that the studio could settle on a scribe for the project by the end of the month.

Judkins, who wrote 5 episodes of the ABC melodrama Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and the Tom Holland-led Uncharted, has most recently served as the showrunner for Amazon’s Wheel of Time adaptation. Lesslie recently wrote the screenplay for The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes and, in 2016, the screenplay for Assassin’s Creed.

Sneider has made no claims about the studio favoring one or the other of the two and it’s important to remember that there’s no indication of how many other writers are on the shortlist. Ryan Coogler, whose name was recently floated as a potential director for the X-Men project, would likely also prefer to write the screenplay for the project were he to in fact be hired to helm it. With a project as big as X-Men, you can be sure the trades are doing everything they can to find out as much as possible about it so if Sneider’s report has merit to it and the studio is closing in on a writer, a trade breaking the news would be expected.

  • Marvel Studios Finds Its Galactus

    Marvel Studios Finds Its Galactus

With The Fantastic Four set to begin production this summer, Marvel Studios has been busily rounding out what’s become a stellar cast. Now, after months of rumors about the film’s villain and who was in line to play him, Marvel Studios has settled on their Galactus.

According to trade reports, British actor Ralph Ineson has joined the film as the Devourer of Worlds.

Ineson has become somewhat of a horror icon over the past several years having appeared in films such as The Witch, The First Omen and The Pope’s Exorcist.

Without seeing a second of whatever Ineson will bring to the Hunger That Does Not Cease, there’s no doubt Marvel Studios’ version of the character will be better than the ethereal fart cloud that appeared in Fox’s Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer.
