SGF: New Look at ‘Resident Evil 4’ Remake Released

While it wasn’t much, we did get a new look at the upcoming remake of Resident Evil 4 that promises to take what made the original classic and add a new flair to rejuvenate the classic. While Capcom is still playing a bit coy on the project that is eyeing a March release next year, we did at least get a tease of what’s to come with the new entry. One thing is for sure, we’ve come a long way with the RE Engine and the atmosphere is definitely something to keep players hooked once it releases.

  • ‘Persona’ Return Also Set for Steam and PlayStation

‘Persona’ Return Also Set for Steam and PlayStation

Just yesterday, we got the big announcement that not only will Persona 5 Royal finally make its way to Xbox, but it’ll be joined by Persona 3 Portable and Persona 4 Golden. The two games have been popular requests for ports on many platforms but it turns out that the showcase was just a confirmation that the ports are happening and are available on Xbox Game Pass. Yet, the official statement has seemingly hinted at the games also heading to Steam and PlayStation.

The press release includes the statement “These beloved games will also be heading to Steam and PlayStation 5” which is an interesting surprise but good to hear for those from other consoles hoping to get their hands on it. Yet, the biggest surprise is that even the oldest entries aren’t joining Nintendo Switch. Persona 4 Golden is already available on Steam and likely set the path of these classics getting added on consoles.

Ever since Joker became a playable character in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, it seemed a definite that they’d find their way to the console. Even Banjo-Kazooie somehow managed to get added. Yet, the recent announcement does not include the Nintendo console that only provides the Strikers sequel that continues the story of the first Persona 5 entry even though the game is not available either. We’ll have to see if they may announce something in the near future.

  • ‘The Last of Us’ PS5 Remake Reportedly Coming in September

‘The Last of Us’ PS5 Remake Reportedly Coming in September

It looks like Naughty Dog isn’t done with The Last of Us. After what seemed like years of rumored development, PlayStation Direct inadvertently confirmed that Naughty Dog was indeed releasing a remake of their original masterpiece for the PlayStation 5 and PC. The revelation was uploaded today before being quickly taken down, indicating the company was not yet ready for the information to be known. According to the now-deleted post, the remake will be branded as The Last of Us Part 1, and will release for the PS5 on September 2nd of this year. The PC release will come at a later, unknown date.

A salvaged description of the game reveals that Naughty Dog intends it to be “a total overhaul of the original experience, faithfully reproduced but incorporating modernized gameplay, improved controls and expanded accessibility options”. It will also feature improved effects, exploration, and combat. The “Firefly Edition” of the re-release will come with the full game as well as the prequel chapter Left Behind, a steel book display case, early in-game unlocks, and the complete The Last of Us: American Dreams comic series with brand new art.

This will be the third official release of the initial The Last of Us story. It originally dropped on the PS3 in 2013, before being remastered for the PS4 a year later in 2014. The Last of Us Part II released to equally critical acclaim in 2020.

  • RUMOR: New Leak Hints at Hideo Kojima’s Next Game

RUMOR: New Leak Hints at Hideo Kojima’s Next Game

It looks like Hideo Kojima is returning to his horror roots. After his more experimental game, Death Stranding, a new article by Try Hard Guides seemingly hints at what may be the next entry of Kojima Production’s gaming slate. There have been rumors on what might be their next game, such as a potential revival of Silent Hills or even Norman Reedus confirming a sequel is being worked on for their first game. Yet, it seems an original project is on the way.

Try Hard Guides claims that they have seen footage of a game starring Margaret Qualley, who played Mama in Death Stranding, wearing a blue dress and walking through dark corridors. It seems she is holding a flashlight and it ends with a “GAMEOVER” before the title is revealed, Overdose. Supposedly, they have been in talks with publishing their next game over on Xbox which hasn’t been verified yet and theories are that the next reveal will be during Summer Game Fest.

The creator of the event, Geoff Keighley, is close friends with Kojima and even appeared in the last game. Many are expecting big announcements and it’s been three years since the release of Death Stranding. So, it wouldn’t be too surprising if they already are ready to announce their next project sometime soon. Without an E3 this year, SGF seems like the perfect time to tease what the future has in store for us.

SGF: ‘Street Fighter’ 6 Trailer Reveals New Adventure Mode

Here’s a surprise it looks like the first trailer for Street Fighter 6 has dropped during the PlayStation State of Play, and it gave us not only a look at some returning favorites, but it also will let you run around freely. It’s unclear how much you can explore, but an adventure mode is something that has been sorely lacking in fighting games. Plus, the visuals overall look quite promising as the combat looks very vibrant and like we truly entered the next gen.
