Marvel Television’s ‘Nova’ Takes Flight Again Under Veteran MCU Scribe

More than eight years have passed since Marvel Studios’ One Above All, Kevin Feige, first claimed that Nova was a character with “immediate potential” to debut in the MCU. After several starts and stops, it looks like the Human Rocket is being prepared for launch again, this time with a Marvel Studios veteran scribe at the helm.

we have a big board with a bunch of characters that have more immediate potential, Nova is on that board. Because of the connection to the Guardians universe, because there are more than one examples to pull from in the comics that are interesting. And you’re absolutely right, he was in the earliest drafts of the [Guardians of the Galaxy].

    -Kevin Feige, April 2018
According to the Writers Guild of America West (and located by a Murphy’s Multiverse Discord user) , Loki creator and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness writer Michael Waldron, who has also helped Stephen McFeely and the Russo brohters shape the narratives of Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars, has taken over writing duties on Nova.

First developed as a film with Moon Knight writer Sabir Pirzada working on the script in 2022, Nova was transitioned to television a year later and put on hold while the studio began restructuring its streaming plans. With a new roadmap in place, things started moving on Nova in late 2024, veteran TV writer Ed Bernerowas tasked with bringing the Human Rocket to D+

While Bernero’s take would reportedly introduce the classic Marvel Comics villain Annihilus and pit the Bug-Lord against Richard Rider and a young team of Nova Corpsmen. It’s unclear if Waldron‘s pitch would follow this route or be something entirely different.

Given the dates listed, it looks as though Marvel Television might be looking at beginning production sometime this year with a potential 2027 release date for the series. Neither Disney nor Waldron’s reps responded to requests for confirmation at the time of publishing.

  • Jack Mulhern’s Mystery Villain Caught in Action on the Set of  ‘Daredevil: Born Again’; Kingpin Connection Revealed

Jack Mulhern’s Mystery Villain Caught in Action on the Set of  ‘Daredevil: Born Again’; Kingpin Connection Revealed

In February, Painkiller and Mare of Eastown star Jack Mulhern joined the cast of Daredevil: Born Again as a mysterious villain codenamed “Phillip.” Described as “a smart and scrappy New Yorker who’s sweet and lovable with a hidden rageful side”, fans immediately speculated that Mulhern may be playing Wilson Fisk’s illegitimate son, Butch Pharris. A new batch of videos and photos from the New York City set of the series has provided a first look at Mulhern‘s character and it seems as though Pharris may have been a good first guess.

The new peeks show a bloodied Mulhern squaring off with Elektra before running away while she’s restrained by Daredevil. Interestingly, it seems as though Vincent D’Onofrio‘s Wilson Fisk was on set as well, though it’s not quite clear how he was involved in the action.

In Chip Zdarsky’s acclaimed Daredevil run, Byron “Butch” Pharris is introduced as a prominent Hell’s Kitchen enforcer. Eventually, it’s revealed that Butch is actually the illegitimate son of Wilson Fisk, a lineage that drives his deep ambition to inherit the city’s criminal throne. Following the climax of the Devil’s Reign crossover event—where a disgraced Mayor Fisk flees New York City—The Kingpin explicitly passes the torch of his underworld empire down to Butch. Given what can be gleaned from the set photos, Mulhern certainly looks to be a good fit for Pharris.

‘Daredevil Born Again’ Set Photo Reveals The Man Without Fear’s All-New, All-Different S3 Suit

After a low-quality video and partially obscured images of Charlie Cox‘s suit made their way online from the set of Season 3 of Daredevil: Born Again, a new, higher quality and much clearer look at the suit has been released.

The new red and black suit sports a clearly defined DD logo and while it doesn’t seem to be a direct adaptation of any particular suit from the comics, it does have some shares aesthetics with the armored variant the character first wore in Daredevil #321.

With little to go on in terms of bread crumbs about the new season’s plot, it’s unclear how Matt–whose identity as Daredevil is no longer a secret–makes his way out of prison, much less resumes his work as a vigilante by night. But it is clear that he’ll look good doing it.

Back in Black (?)-BTS Photos Reveal Charlie Cox’s ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ S3 Look

Well before Marvel Studios intended everyone to find out (before the Season 2 finale of Daredevil: Born Again debuted on D+), Mike Colter revealed that Matt Murdock would be spending some time sporting a brand new suit in the upcoming third season of the streaming series, this time trading the traditional DD gear for an orange jumpsuit. With Season 3 adapting Ed Brubaker‘s “The Devil in Cell Block D”, Murdock–who revealed himself as the Devil of Hell’s Kitchen in the Season 2 finale–will find himself spending quality time behind the same bars as many of the folks Ol’ Hornhead put there.

That change in the status quo will allow for fellow Defenders Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Danny Rand to step up to protect the streets of New York from emerging threats but Murdock was never going to be in prison forever and now, new photos from the NYC set of Season 3 have provided a first look at Cox back in the suit…sort of.

While the video is a bit blurry and the shots shared of the suit so far have been intentionally obscured, it seems as though Murdock will be wearing a suit similar to the one from Season 2 though it does appear as though it’s slightly updated. From what can be seen, the cowl appears predominantly black with red/maroon accents.

With The Hand once again operating in New York and Elektra confirmed to be returning for Season 3 along with The Defenders, it wouldn’t be entirely surprising to find out that the series is headed toward an adaptation of Shadowland. If that’s the case, this could be our first look at Matt trading his painted black suit for one that represents a more permanent darkness taking hold.

‘Daredevil: Born Again’ Season 3 Set Photos Reveal a Major Defenders-Verse Character’s Return to Hell’s Kitchen

Not even Daredevil and Defenders star Elodie Yung was sure what ultimate fate befell Elektra Natchios following her appearances in Netflix’s Defenders-verse series…now it seems she–and everyone else is about to find out.

With Kingpin in exile and Matt Murdock behind bars, the return of Elektra in Marvel Studios Daredevil: Born Again seemed inevitable and now, set photos have confirmed that the former leader of the Hand will indeed factor into Season 3. Photos and videos from the New York City set of the series have provided the first look at Yung‘s return to Hell’s Kitchen.

Seen wielding her trademaek sais and sporting a new costume reminiscent of the character’s look from Chip Zdarsky and Marco Checchetto acclaimed Daredevil run, Elektra was caught heading into an entrance to an unknown location the same night a bloodied Wilson Fisk makes his return to New York.

After dying in the Daredevil Season 2 finale, Elektra’s corpse was placed in a resurrection chamber by the Hand. She is brought back as an empty vessel with no memories of her past life. The Hand’s leadership, led by Alexandra Reid, trained Elektra to be their ultimate weapon. However, as Elektra interacted with Matt Murdock, her past memories began to return. She turned on her captors, killing Stick and Alexandra to assert her own independence.

Seeking to use the Hand’s secrets of immortality, Elektra attempted to force Matt to leave Hell’s Kitchen with her. During the final battle of The Defenders, Elektra and Matt fought beneath Midland Circle but when explosives were detonated to destroy the dragon bones underneath, the building collapsed, leaving both trapped in the rubble. While Matt managed to survive, Elektra’s fate was left ambiguous…until now.

Daredevil: Born Again Season 3 is expected to stream on D+ in March 2027.

‘X-Men ’97’ Season 2 Episode Titles Tease Weapon X, Danger and the Return of a Major Character

His name is Gambit and he told you to remember it…and it sounds like he’ll be back to haunt the X-Men in the final two episodes of X-Men ’97 Season 2.

X user @hexfacilitycom has spilled the details on the release dates, episode titles and brief synopses for the new batch of episodes and they indicate that the former X-Man, who sacrificed himself in the attack on Genosha, will indeed return as a Horseman of Apocalypse in Episode 8, “Dead Man’s Hand.”

    https://x.com/i/status/2068348750548848812

The episode, which is scheduled to stream on August 5th, will see “the X-Men confront a ghost from their past.” And it seems that episode sets up the season finale in which the team’s “past comes back to haunt them.” The finale is almost certainly a reference to the fallout of time travel shenanigans in the first four episodes.

Days of Past Future (July 1)
A Force to be Reckoned With (July 1)

  • Review: ‘X-Men ’97’ Season 2

    Review: ‘X-Men ’97’ Season 2

If Season 1 of X-Men ’97, Marvel Animation’s revival of X-Men: The Animated Series revived the heart of the beloved classic cartoon, Season 2 reanimates its soul…at least that’s what it seems like through the first four episodes of the sophomore season.

While Season 1 provided a nostalgic trip to the 90s, full of feel-good releases of dopamine and serotonin, Season 2 delivers a far more intoxicating rush, releasing a surging cocktail of chemicals for those who loved not only the original show but the true vastness of the X-Men’s comic book lore.

The first four episodes manage to address the Season 1 cliffhanger with multitudinous references to the original series while also priming the audience for something entirely new. And so, the first four episodes of Season 2 work as a fulcrum between the return to the emotional center of Season 1 and the very intentional shift in the purpose of the new episodes, which seems to be to remind audiences of the incredible depth and breadth of the X-Men mythology.

Whether in the comics, live-action or animation, the mutant have never needed to interact with the rest of the Marvel universe. As fun as the crossovers can be, the mutants have their own interesting heros and villains capable of leading some of The House of Ideas greatest stories and Season 2 makes it clear that Cable and Apocalypse are chief among them.

Full of the timey-wimey shenanigans that have long been a staple of their stories, Season 2 of X-Men ’97 fully embraces the full weirdness of the X-Men’s time travel adventures. By taking on En Sabah Nur/Apocalypse in the past, present and future, the sophomore season holds the potential of seeing each team dealing with the fallout of the others’ actions across time…and it also clearly seems to set the stage for an impending schism not only between Charles and Magneto but also between core members of the team.

Though it’s just four episodes, X-Men ’97 feels like a fresh spin on a classic X-Men tale. The animation remains top tier and the action sequences continue to be inventive and show that there are plenty of ways to continue to let these mutants evolve on screen.

  • Rumored ‘ViSiONQUΞST’ Synopsis Teases Man on the Run

Rumored ‘ViSiONQUΞST’ Synopsis Teases Man on the Run

Though it has been in development since late-2022, details about the Paul Bettany-led Vision-centric series–including an official title–proved difficult to pin down. That all changed during New York Comic Con 2025 when Bettany made a surprise appearance to discuss the series, now confirmed as VisionQuest. With the project now set for an October 14th debut, details have begun to emerge, including a potential synopsis that sets the stage for Vision to be a synthezoid on the run.

Shared by social media scooper My Time To Shine Hello, the synopsis indicates that while Vision is attempting to reconnect with his memories, a bounty forces him to change course.

The Vision, rebooted and having escaped those who sought to use him as a weapon, has been in hiding. His quest for new meaning and discreet existence is interrupted when a bounty is placed on his head, forcing Vision to forge real connections and embrace found family if he’s to survive

    -Possible synopsis for VisionQuest

Showrunner Terry Matalas previously explained that the series would follow a “Vision who has died and come back to life…going through a bit of an identity quest.” Part of that quest will involve a heavy dose of artificial intelligences that, like Vision, are part of Tony Stark’s legacy, including Henry Lewis as D.U.M.-E, Jonathan Sayer as U, James D’Arcy as J.A.R.V.I.S., Orla Brady as F.R.I.D.A.Y., Emily Hampshire as E.D.I.T.H, and James Spader as Ultron, all of whom may be the “found family” teased in the synopsis.

And if that won’t put enough on the plate if the Synthezoid Avenger, the soul of his son Tommy is now inhabiting the body of Thomas Shepard, played by Ruaridh Mollica. Suffice it to say, there will be quite a bit going on in VisionQuest, however, where and when it takes place may just make things even more complicated.

  • ‘Daredevil:Born Again—BTS Photos Reveal Bullseye’s Ultimate-Inspired Costume

    ‘Daredevil:Born Again—BTS Photos Reveal Bullseye’s Ultimate-Inspired Costume

When Daredevil: Born Again star Wilson Bethel took to social media to tease his character’s new Season 3 costume, fans were giddy at the thought of a more comic-accurate look for the villain. And now it’s clear they’ll be getting it.

Just hours after Bethel‘s Instagram post, the actor was seen on set in New York City sporting his new costume which comes complete with a Bullseye-logo on the forehead of his cowl!

While it’s not a one-to-one adaptation (nothing in the MCU ever really is), the new costume seems to draw heavy inspiration from the Earth-6160 version of the character by artist Marco Checchetto that appeared in the recent Ultimate Spider-Man run.

Following a an attempt at redemption in Season 2, the chaotic wild card’s journey took a turn as he found himself working for Matthew Lillard‘s Mr. Charles which means he’s serving the interests of Valentine Allegra de Fontaine…which in the scene in question appear to be a bit concerning for some of the Defenders.
