  • ‘Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse’ Will “Push the Animation Medium Even Further”

‘Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse’ Will “Push the Animation Medium Even Further”

Animation has been proving time and time again how relevant it is to the current cinematic landscape. There are some strong contenders for this year’s Animation Oscard, and among them is the latest Sony animated venture by directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller titled The Mitchells vs. the Machines. Of course, as it is considered a frontrunner, the directing duo was also interviewed on their future ventures. Of course, the discussion also included their next entry in the Spider-Verse series, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse Part One.

While still shying away from any details, Phil Lord did highlight that they are certainly going to push the bound arise of animation with the upcoming project. We technically already got a preview of how Miles’ adventure through the Spider-Verse may reinvent each new universe with a different animation style. He stated that:

It’s been really fun to have the confidence to go even harder and push the [animation] medium even further and take Miles to places that you couldn’t have imagined whilst making the first film.

    Phil Lord

It’s certainly ambitious and it’ll be interesting to see just how far they can push the medium. We have no idea how many dimensions Miles may visit in his travel, or even how relevant some may be to the story. In the first entry, we saw that those that came from different dimensions took their animation style with them. It’s a much bigger undertaking changing the animation style with every new world our hero visits.

  • ‘Blade’ Pre-Production Meeting Photos Surface Online

‘Blade’ Pre-Production Meeting Photos Surface Online

Here’s a curious detail that found its way online. There are many exciting projects in the works for Marvel Studios and we’re all wondering how different the future might look. With so many in development, there have been a few projects that were a bit quieter over the last couple of months. Among them is the Mahershala Ali-led Blade film, which we’ve been anticipating some updates on. Well, it seems that a meeting between the team has found its way online.

In the first image, it seems that Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige, vice president Louis D’Esposito, Screenwriter Stacy Osei-Kuffour, and the director Bassam Tariq among others are discussing the film which may be gearing up for pre-production or is already in the process of it.

There’s another image shared by Osei-Kuffour on her Instagram that features Blade himself, Ali, in the call. The image, however, is no longer available in her teams as she probably deleted it shortly after posting it. Feige and D’Esposito are absent though. This image, as was the first, was shared by @SPNBladeNews.

It’s still unsure how far they are already in development with the project, but it seems likely that they’re about to, or have already started pre-production. If they are meeting up like this, they may be discussing some final details before they jump into the project. We can’t wait to see how they’ll tackle this iconic franchise and how they may build upon the cinematic legacy left behind by the original franchise, as well as build up a new section within the MCU.

  • ‘Beavis and Butt-Head’ Revival for Paramount+ in the Works, First Look at Titular Characters Revealed

‘Beavis and Butt-Head’ Revival for Paramount+ in the Works, First Look at Titular Characters Revealed

It looks like some classic icons from our childhood are making a comeback, as Paramount+ is working on a revival of Beavis and Butt-Head. The adult animation was originally part of a short film before becoming a mainstay on MTV with seven seasons. It ran from 1993 until 1997 but even got a revival in 2011 that sadly never got a second season. while it is supposedly getting another renewal over on Comedy Central, our wait for the icons might not be too long after all.

Creator Mike Judge has shared that they are working on a new film that’ll premiere on the streaming service Paramount+ sometime this year. It’ll be the second film based on the characters after 1996’s Beavis and Butt-Head Do America. There is still no title or details on the project outside of our first look at the returning characters, who are seemingly in their middle ages now.

Many streaming services have been banking quite a bit on nostalgia-filled content. Paramount+ is no stranger to it, as they recently released two of a series of new films that explore the future versions of popular South Park characters. The films Post Covid and Post Covid: The Return of Covid also continued the franchise’s classic humor but explored the characters’ future selves. Of course, Beavis and Butt-Head hasn’t aired in some time. So, the approach might be quite a bit different and it’ll be exciting to see how they reinvent the classic characters.

  • ‘Multiverse of Madness’: Promotional Art Shows Off Wong’s Newest Look

‘Multiverse of Madness’: Promotional Art Shows Off Wong’s Newest Look

Marvel Studios’ foray into the cinematic multiverse will have its biggest showcase yet with the upcoming Doctor Strange sequel, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, and everyone’s favorite Sorcerer Supreme will be along for the ride. I refer, of course, to the great and powerful Wong, who was revealed as the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s latest head wizard during the events of Spider-Man: No Way Home. The character, portrayed by Benedict Wong, has been known to be a part of Multiverse of Madness for some time, but fans are only now just getting a good official look at the hero through some recently released promotional art. Wong looks more or less the same as we’re accustomed to seeing him, with perhaps a few minor changes that include a fresh haircut.

Last we saw the Sorcerer Supreme, he was warning Benedict Cumberbatch‘s Dr. Stephen Strange of the dangers of casting a reality-altering spell. He’ll likely be unhappy with the results of Strange’s experiment when we see him next. Wong has become an unexpected bind for the MCU, appearing in multiple projects over the last year alone. Fans were delighted to see him pop up in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings as an opponent and teacher for Tim Roth‘s Abomination, before bringing Shang-Chi himself into the world of The Avengers. It’s still unknown where that plot point will lead, but it does seem as though Kevin Feige and Marvel Studios have bigger plans for Wong than anyone would have expected.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, directed by Sam Raimi, arrives in theaters on May 6, 2022.

  • ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ Concept Artist Shares a Possible Look at Tom Holland in the Venom Suit

‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ Concept Artist Shares a Possible Look at Tom Holland in the Venom Suit

Spider-Man: No Way Home is filled to the brim with Easter eggs to the cinematic history of the iconic webhead. Yet, the biggest surprise came in the form of the first post-credit sequence where Tom Hardy‘s Venom makes an appearance before vanishing once again. Well, he doesn’t vanish until a small part of the symbiote remains in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It opens the door to the arrival of his iconic black suit and luckily concept artist Thomas du Crest, who worked on No Way Home shared a possible first look at their design:

The Venom design looks great on Holland, especially with the iconic logo from the comics. It’s uncertain if they’ll wait some time to build upon that tease, but it’s great how they took the suit’s Secret Wars origin by having it be from another dimension. As du Crest points out he doesn’t have the go on the actual No Way Home concept art, this is probably something he made in his spare time that could become relevant once they tackle that specific storyline later down the line. Still, it’s an exciting possible first look at how the film’s Venom designs would work in the MCU.

  • Xolo Maridueña Already Tried on the Blue Beetle Suit

Xolo Maridueña Already Tried on the Blue Beetle Suit

Warner Bros. has been busy preparing for their next line of DC films. While The Batman is their next major release, they’ve been busy preparing their other projects, such as the once HBO Max exclusive, Blue Beetle. Actor Xolo Maridueña will take on the title role in the Angel Manuel Soto-directed film, which is now heading for a theatrical release. Little is known about the project, but in a recent interview on the latest season of Cobra Kai, the actor confirmed that they’ve already tested out the suit in an interview with USA Today.

We’ve done two suit fittings. They’re hoping that I get more buff by the time we actually start filming. But I’ve seen the suit, and it looks awesome.

    Xolo Maridueña

He’s certainly excited about the role and it’s great to hear that the suit will have practical elements. It won’t be an easy design to adapt even if the concept art shared during DC FanDome is quite promising. We can’t wait to see how they bring the organic living suit to life and if they’ll even play around with the fact that Jaime Reyes’ design originally doesn’t include a nose when he’s in his suit. It’ll be interesting to see how they bring that element to life.

  • RUMOR: Viola Davis Will Return as Amanda Waller in ‘Peacemaker’

RUMOR: Viola Davis Will Return as Amanda Waller in ‘Peacemaker’

Viola Davis just recently made her return as Amanda Waller in The Suicide Squad, where she assembled yet another Task Force X for a mission into Corto Maltese. Davis is considered one of the best parts of the first Suicide Squad film, praised for her performance in bringing the character to life, and without her, there really is no squad. So, many were wondering if we might see her return sooner rather than later.

According to leaker MyTimeToShine, Davis will reportedly return to the DCEU in Peacemaker, reprising her role as Amanda Waller, but the extent of her role is unknown. She is the one who Assigned John Economos and Emilia Harcourt to Peacemaker on an all-new top-secret mission, due to their insubordination in defying her orders to extract the Squad from Corto Maltese.

Not much is known about the plot of Peacemaker aside from this new Task Force of presumably ARGUS agents working together to take down an alien threat known as the Butterflies. Shine also reveals that Peacemaker will presumably take on a massive worm in the series. There’s a chance it may be connected to the main threat in some way. The series could see Waller dealing with the fallout of the Suicide Squad since her team was caught on camera fighting Starro, and Bloodsport was able to get away with dirt on her.

  • BREAKING: Sony Delays ‘Morbius’ to an April Release Amidst Omicron Concerns

BREAKING: Sony Delays ‘Morbius’ to an April Release Amidst Omicron Concerns

It looks like the few Morbius fans will have to wait just a bit longer, as the film was once again pushed back over concerns with the ever-growing Omicron variant. The film has already been pushed back quite a bit after the pandemic hit and it’s uncertain if they also want to have Spider-Man: No Way Home make as much as it can, as other releases are still struggling at the box office. The film is now scheduled to release on April 1st rather than its initial January 28th release.

The bigger issue for the film lies in its competition, as April is a stacked release with much-anticipated sequels like Sonic the Hedgehog 2. It’ll also release around a month after the next major superhero release in The Batman, which is a sure-fire hit going by early reception and anticipation. Given its marketing’s focus on highlighting the Spider-Man connections, it’ll be interesting to see if this delay gives them time to define more clearly with which version of the character is connected due to Venom now confirmed from a different dimension.

  • New ‘Doctor Strange’ Merch Offers Closer Look at Scarlet Witch’s Updated Design

New ‘Doctor Strange’ Merch Offers Closer Look at Scarlet Witch’s Updated Design

The upcoming new entry in the ever-expanding multiverse storyline of the Marvel Cinematic Multiverse is only a few more months away. Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness will further expand our understanding of Marvel Studios’ venture that started in Loki, and we’ll see quite a few familiar faces returning. It’ll also act as a sequel to WandaVision, which introduced the world to Wanda’s transformation into the Scarlet Witch. While we got a good look at her costume in the series, the first merchandise has arrived that offers a glimpse at some of the tweaks and changes that were made to her design for the upcoming sequel.

We’ve gotten quite a lot out of this merchandise dump, such as a closer look at Gargantos’ design, who may be one of the film’s main antagonists. Wanda is getting quite the focus in the merchandise, which may highlight just how large her role is. We don’t know yet how the post-credit sequence leads into the film, as the teaser did hint that it was Strange that recruited her. There’ll be a lot of moving pictures in the film and it’s exciting to see how it may turn out.

  • New ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’ Offers Closer Look at Gargantos

New ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’ Offers Closer Look at Gargantos

We’re only a few months away from Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’ releasing in theaters, as it continues from where Spider-Man: No Way Home left off our favorite sorcerer. His venture into the multiverse won’t be an easy one, as the next Marvel Studios entry takes inspiration from horror-themed cinema. As we inch closer, we also get more merchandise that offers a glimpse at what’s to come, and luckily @BRMarvelNews shared some of it on Twitter.

That’s not all, as @DrStrangeUpdate also shared a new look at a comic-inspired cover that showcases the battle between Strange, Chavez, and Wong against the Shuma Gorath look-a-like, Gargantos.

A long time ago, most of our theories pointed to Shuma-Gorath being the main antagonist in the upcoming film. The fact the character visually resembles the iconic tentacle monster may hint at there being more at play. Back in July, a casting leak hinted that there might be more than one which could mean that Gargantos are potentially offspring of the main monster. So, while it is being highlighted as the main antagonist, there might be more to this and they are distracting us from the film’s main threat.
