UPDATE: Pedro Pascal In Talks for ‘Fantastic Four’

UPDATE: After /Film revealed that Pedro Pascal has signed on for Fantastic Four, Deadline has reportedly shared that while he is definitely in talks: “a deal is far from done.” Supposedly it is heading in the right direction and while he’s busy the next year, scheduling will work out for him to take on the role. So, unless some big surprise drops, it seems very likely he’ll have the role.

Earlier today, there were rumors that a new frontrunner has emerged for the role of Reed Richards in the upcoming Fantastic Four film. Many have supposedly declined the role since the first wave of castings started but The Mandalorian’s Pedro Pascal surprisingly came out as the next potential person to take on the role.

Well, a new report by /Film has seemingly stated that not only was he offered the role but according to their sources he’s already signed on. The rumor started with Daniel RPK sharing that he was the next in line shortly followed by Jeff Sneider supporting the rumor. Though that’s not including the crazy rumors that have piled on before and during the pandemic.

For now, it’s still not a full confirmation but further hints that Marvel’s First Family might be slowly coming together on the big screen. A variety of actors have supposedly been up for the role ranging from Adam Driver to Matt Smith, as well as MCU veternals like John Krasinski (who even played a Variant of the character in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness) and Spider-Man’s Jake Gyllenhaal.

The big question though is how he’ll juggle his roles in other projects like The Last of Us, The Mandalorian, and many more. He hasn’t been actively showing up in the Star Wars series and mainly focuses on voicing the character of Din Djarin, but scheduling conflicts with The Last of Us’ second season is definitely going to impact when Marvel Studios can start work on the Fantastic Four. Though given current developments it was going to need a bit more time anyway.

  • Ridley Scott’s ‘Gladiator’ Sequel Adds Pedro Pascal

Ridley Scott’s ‘Gladiator’ Sequel Adds Pedro Pascal

Pedro Pascal has been piling on project after project. He’s been seeing a slew of major projects pile on with The Mandalorian, the recent HBO series The Last Of Us, The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent, and many more. It’s crazy to think how far his career has come since Narco and Game of Thrones. Now, he has seemingly added one more big production to his belt in the form of Ridley Scott’s return to Gladiator.

It seems he is using the breaks between the production of the first and second seasons of The Last of Us to film the untitled Gladiator sequel. He’s joining a stacked cast that includes Barry Keoghan, Joseph Quinn, Denzel Washington, Connie Nielsen and is spearheaded by recent breakout Paul Mescal. There is, sadly, no information on what role exactly he’ll have in the film but it’s definitely great to join a production that famously was a career-builder for Russell Crowe many years ago.

It seems he’ll have just enough time to film before The Last of Us starts filming next year and he was weighing out quite a few options before tackling that project. Luckily for The Mandalorian, he mostly appears with his helmet, and isn’t necessary to film every scene. So, if they are moving forward with a fourth season, they aren’t dependent on the actor’s direct performance as part of the production. His next projects include Strange Way of Life, which recently released a trailer, Drive Away Dolls in September, and Freaky Tales sometime this year.

  • Pedro Pascal is Down to Become a Marvel Hero

Pedro Pascal is Down to Become a Marvel Hero

Marvel Studios remains a hot commodity for actors, especially as they are busy preparing for the next era of projects that lead into the new duo of Avengers films. Marvel Studios has not only been casting new talent in the industry but also saw a pivot to include already well-established actors such as Mahershala Ali leading a Blade film; whenever it gets the cameras rolling. Now, it seems that Pedro Pascal is also excited to potentially join the franchise.

In an interview with WIRED, the actor got to talk about the upcoming The Last of Us series and generally look back at his career. In one moment, he was asked if he had gotten where he is now when he was younger if he’d want to avoid a “traditional Marvel role” with CG, to which he swiftly answers: “but I do want that. I want to be in movies.” He also goes on to highlight how he views what being a hero means.

There’s so many ways to misunderstand people and to forget that, at the end of the day, your neighbor is very likely to give you the shirt off their own back. The interchanges that you have with strangers are, more often than not, human. But then you can go and look shit up and be terrified by how divided we all apparently are. To comfort myself, I just remember that everybody I come in contact with is sort of, in their own way, heroically kind.

Pascal has already had the chance to join the DC Extended Universe, where he played the character of Maxwell Lord in Wonder Woman 1984. Yet, he hasn’t had the chance to become a hero and it seems he’s ready to wear a CG cape to jump into the Marvel Cinematic Universe though he doesn’t specify which Marvel universe.
