  • ‘Fatal Attraction’ Series Adds to Ensemble Cast

‘Fatal Attraction’ Series Adds to Ensemble Cast

The upcoming series reviving the Fatal Attraction brand continues to round out its growing cast. The upcoming Paramount+ series has cast David Meunier and Dee Wallace in ensemble roles. Meunier is set to play Richard Macksey, a psychology professor with personal ties to characters in the series. Meanwhile, Wallace will portray Emma Rauch, a retired professional with a charming personality to those around her, sans main character Alex (played by Lizzie Caplan).

The rest of the main cast includes the likes of Joshua Jackson, Amanda Peet, Alyssa Jirrels, Wanda De Jesus, Walter Perez, Toby Huss, Reno Wilson, and Brian Goodman. Alexandra Cunningham is serving as showrunner after having written the series from a story co-written with Kevin J. Hynes.

Fatal Attraction is said to be a psychosexual thriller akin to the classic 1987 film and explore the themes of marriage and infidelity from a modern lens with different societal sensibilities. The series is a remake and reimagining of the film and not a continuation of the original Michael Douglas and Glenn Close-led project. For the series, the roles of Dan Gallagher and Alex Forrest will be played by Joshua Jackson and Lizzie Caplan respectively.

Filming for the series began during the summer of 2022. With that in mind, audiences should look to expect Fatal Attraction on Paramount+ to premiere at some point in 2023.

  • 20-Year Old ‘Kingdom Hearts’ Pilot Animatic Released Online

20-Year Old ‘Kingdom Hearts’ Pilot Animatic Released Online

Seth Kearsley has recently opened up about the Kingdom Hearts animated series that never was. It has been 20 years since he worked on the project and it was something he held quite dearly, which is why he no longer wanted to keep it a secret from the world. In a surprising twist, however, instead of just talking about the project he went on to release the entire animatic for the world to see online, which you can check out here:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Iyg6gQZFhc

It’s definitely a bold move, as he highlights that he doesn’t own the right to publish this. Disney holds onto the rights even with Square-Enix being the creator of this Disney-Final Fantasy mashup. Many have long wondered why we never got an adaptation of any kind, but it’s great to get a look at what could have been after all these years. Kingdom Hearts has lived on as a massive franchise spanning books, multiple consoles, and ongoing musical concerts but still no cinematic or TV adaptation.

While this move won’t lead to the series getting a renewal after all these years, there is still the potential for them to consider an adaptation. Disney+ may unshackle them to explore many different types of stories and such a massive IP would definitely be the perfect touch, no matter if they go an animated or even live-action route. Kingdom Hearts still remains as one of Square Enix’s popular entries and we’ll see if the upcoming fourth entry alongside this leak potentially reviving interest to explore a project based on it after all.

  • Russo Brothers’ Italian ‘Citadel’ Entry Adds Matilda De Angelis as its Lead

Russo Brothers’ Italian ‘Citadel’ Entry Adds Matilda De Angelis as its Lead

Russo Brothers have been quite busy with their various projects and it looks like they are already eyeing to kick off their Amazon Prime Video series, Citadel. Once again taking a step into the world of spies and thrillers, they have cast the rising Italian star, Matilda De Angelis, as its lead, who recently made her name with her work on Susanne Bier‘s The Undoing. The project has now started production and was announced by Amazon Studios at Rome’s MIA content market.

For those wondering, Citadel is part of a wider event series with a U.S.-based main series and various spinoffs. Currently, Prime Video plans to expand it into India and Mexico as well with Arnaldo Catinari spearheading this project based on head writer Alessandro Fabbri‘s scripts. ITV Studios’ Cattleya is also currently producing the series with Gina Gardini set as its showrunner and executive producer alongside Marco Chimenz, Giovanni Stabilini, and Riccardo Tozzi.

The series has already cast Bernhard Schütz, Lorenzo Cervasio, Thekla Reuten, Julia Piaton, Filippo Nigro, and Maurizio Lombardi in undisclosed roles. This is the first local production to start and the U.S.-based series has already added Stanley Tucci, Richard Madden, and Priyanka Chopra Jonas. It’s unclear if they will all be under the same title of Citadel or potentially each get their own titles moving forward but the project is certainly ambitios.

  • Colin Farrell’s Penguin Spinoff Deals With the Aftermath of ‘The Batman’

Colin Farrell’s Penguin Spinoff Deals With the Aftermath of ‘The Batman’

Colin Farrell has been quite busy lately and will soon return to The Batman franchise with his very own spinoff. After a long bout of silence, the project has quickly picked up the pace with Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D.’s Lauren LeFranc set as its showrunner and slowly adding directors. In an interview with Variety, Farrell surprisingly lets a few topics loose and reveals that the series takes place right after The Batman‘s ending.

It starts about a week after ‘The Batman’ ends. So, Gotham is still, somewhat, underwater. I read the first script of the first episode and it opens up on my feet splashing through the water in Falcone’s office. Even that alone, when I read it, I was like, ‘Oh, Jesus!’

    Colin Farrell

We still haven’t heard much about what we can expect in the sequel from Matt Reeves, but it’s interesting that the spinoff series might be the one to focus on a flooded Gotham. Perhaps the return of Robert Pattinson‘s Batman might take place at the same time, but we won’t know until they start working on the project. Still, Farrell is quite excited bout the project and praises showrunner LeFranc‘s work.

It’s lovely. It’s so well-written. Lauren LeFranc has done such an extraordinary job, and she’s writing the whole thing and show-running. She is formidable. It’s just an exciting prospect. I love that character. I was greedy with it. I felt like I didn’t have enough. I wanted to do it more and more and more.

    Colin Farrell

We’re definitely excited to see what the project might explore, but a power vacuum left in the wake of Falcone’s death and a flooded Gotham is definitely the perfect direction for this project. Here’s hoping we get to see some other iconic mobsters from this universe. Perhaps we’ll get a few set-ups of future confrontations with Black Mask, White Shark, The Hammer, Cosa Nostra, and many more.

  • ‘The Winchesters’ is The CW’s Most-Watched Series Debut This Season

‘The Winchesters’ is The CW’s Most-Watched Series Debut This Season

The CW debuted its Supernatural prequel series, The Winchesters, on Tuesday and while the numbers weren’t exactly anything to write home about – the series did earn the title of The CW’s most-watched debut so far this season in total viewers. The series premiere reportedly averaged 757,000 viewers. That makes it the network’s most-watched series debut since Naomi‘s premiere in 2022. The show’s premiere was also the CW’s most-watched telecast in its time period since June 2022 – a title formerly held by Superman & Lois.

The Winchesters is the network’s prequel series to the long-running Supernatural, which came to a close after fifteen seasons in November 2020. While the latter series centered on Dean and Sam Winchester, played by Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki, respectively, the prequel centers on their parents – John and Mary.

The Winchesters was one of many spinoff shows put into development at the CW over the years. Supernatural: Bloodlines was originally being developed to run during the 2014-2015 season, but the series was never picked up. While Wayward Sisters was announced as being in development in 2018 – that series, like Bloodlines, was passed over.

The Winchesters hails from the Supernatural trio of Robbie ThompsonJensen Ackles and Danneel Ackles. Thompson serves as a writer and showrunner on the series. Ackles’ Dean narrates the prequel series that is being called an “epic, untold love story of how John met Mary and how they put it all on the line to not only save their love but the entire world.”

  • ‘Dahmer’ Series is Netflix’s Second-Biggest English Series Ever

‘Dahmer’ Series is Netflix’s Second-Biggest English Series Ever

As it turns out, people have been obsessed with Ryan Murphy‘s adaptation of Jeffrey Dahmer’s story. Evan Peters takes on the title role and has seemingly pulled in quite the audience throughout the weeks, as the series Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story is now Netflix’s second-biggest English TV show of all time. In its third week, the series has held on the top 10 spot. With 701.37 million hours viewed, the series is only behind Stranger Things 4, which stands at an amazing 1.35 billion hours viewed within 28 days.

As of now, the latest Netflix drama has been viewed more times than the first two seasons of Shonda Rhimes’ hit series Bridgerton in just four weeks. Squid Game still remains the undisputed record holder with 1.65 billion ours viewed in 28 days, but Netflix makes a distinction between its English-language and foreign-language projects when it structures its Top 10 lists.

It’s crazy to see the popularity of this story, as the ten episodes follow the real-life serial killer who went on to kill 17 people between 1978 and 1991. While the series is massive with viewers, the fact that it has a 52% on Rotten Tomatoes is quite an interesting development. It’s not uncommon that fans and critics have different feelings about projects, as the Transformers franchise went on to be critically hated but still was a sure-fire win at the box office.

Yet, Dahmer may have also pulled in audiences due to the controversies of adapting a story that isn’t too long ago and still shows real-world repercussions to this day. The recency of this story and the curiosity surrounding it may have drawn in quite a few eyes, especially with some of the reactions that we’ve seen online.

  • Disney+’s ‘Goosebumps’ Series Adds Isa Briones, Zack Morris and More

Disney+’s ‘Goosebumps’ Series Adds Isa Briones, Zack Morris and More

The cast for the upcoming Disney+ series adapting the iconic children’s horror books Goosebumps is growing, as the project has now added to its cast. Just recently, we learned that Justin Long was going to be part of the film’s cast and now they have added quite a few more. The cast now includes Zack Morris, Isa Briones, Ana Yi Puig, Will Price, and Miles McKenna.

With the new cast announcements, we also got an expanded official logline that offers a closer look at what the main cast will be up to in this new take on the franchise:

The series follows a group of five high schoolers who unleash supernatural forces upon their town and must all work together — thanks to and in spite of their friendships, rivalries and pasts with each other — in order to save it, learning much about their own parents’ teenage secrets in the process.

Morris has been cast as the football player Isaiah while Briones takes on the role of Jane, who is the series’ bookworm. The roles for the rest of the cast have not been announced yet but it’s safe to say we might see some of the classic horror archetypes in this adaptation. Nick Stoller and Rob Letterman will act as the executive producers and are the co-creators of this adaptation. Neal H. Moritz is also attached as an executive producer, who also was a producer on the 2015 and 2018 films.

  • Paddy Considine Reveals What Killed King Viserys

Paddy Considine Reveals What Killed King Viserys

With the conclusion of the eighth episode of House of the Dragon came the conclusion of a season-long journey toward death for one of the series’ main characters. After a long and gradual decline in health over the first season, King Viserys I Targaryen died in his sleep in the final moments of Sunday’s latest episode. In an interview, actor Paddy Considine gave some insight into the cause of the suffering and death for the now-deceased King of Westeros.

He’s actually suffering from a form of leprosy. His body is deteriorating, his bones are deteriorating. He is not actually old. He’s still a young man in there. He’s just, unfortunately, got this thing that’s taken over his body. It becomes a metaphor for being king, and the stress and strain that it puts on you, and what it does to you physically, what it does to you mentally.

    Paddy Considine

This shouldn’t really come as a surprise to viewers based on the telltale signs of Viserys’ body gradually falling apart as the season progressed. It was certainly noticeable in this past episode in which the king had to wear a golden mask to hide the fact he had lost an eye due to the disease. Considine’s physical performance in struggling with leprosy and his overall portrayal of the character should place the actor high in award consideration in 2023.

Ultimately, the death of Viserys is the gateway for the civil war brewing amongst the Targaryen family. The conflict between Rhaenyra Targaryan and Alicent Hightower has been the main storyline of House of the Dragon to this point and while this episode left the two characters at potentially the closest they’ve been since the premiere, the feelings of resentment have been passed down to their children which makes the upcoming boiling point all the more inevitable. With two episodes remaining, it certainly will be interesting where the status quo stands heading into the future of the series with the Dance of the Dragons.
