After weeks of teasing the next film in his Superman Saga, DC Studios co-chair James Gunn took to social media to announce the title and release date of the project.
Man of Tomorrow is set to hit theaters on July 9, 2027, and is expected to pit Superman against Lex Luthor once again…and also team up with him?
The announcement was accompanied by a fresh piece of art by DC Comics CCO and legendary comic book artist Jim Lee which shows David Corenswet‘s Superman in hs DCU suit next to Luthor in a fully-realized Warsuit.
The very successful launch of DC Studios Superman provided real momentum for the all-new, all-different DCU. Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav recently told shareholders that the “DC vision” was clear and teased “an ambitious, 10-year plan of interconnected sequels and spinoffs,” which he said included a “Super -Family” film written and directed by Gunn. Shortly after, Gunn teased that the next film in his four-film Superman Saga would head into production “much sooner rather than later,” and feature “the group of characters we’ve already met.” That now includes Nicholas Hoult’s Lex Luthor, who was taken into custody and to Bell Reve Correctional Center in the final act of Superman.
Corenswet and Hoult both took to Instagram to share additional artwork celebrating the announcement:
Man of Tomorrow will hit theaters just two days shy of two years after the release of Superman; it will also release two weeks ahead of an untitled Marvel Studios film, just as Superman opened two weeks ahead of The Fantastic Four: First Steps.
