‘John Wick Chapter 4’ Release Delayed Until 2023

In a move meant to avoid competing at the box office with Tom Cruise’s Top Gun sequel, John Wick Chapter 4 has moved out of 2022 entirely. Originally set for a Memorial Day 2022 release, the fourth film in the franchise is now slated for a March 24, 2023 bow. The news was revealed in a teaser that was unexpectedly released on social media today.

The film, helmed by returning director Chad Stahelski, recently completed principal photography and now, as is the case with many films, will spend a significant amount of time in post-production. The franchise has been incredibly successful and has now spawned both a spinoff film and streaming series.

  • REVIEW: Zoro Finally Takes Down King in ‘One Piece’ Chapter 1035

REVIEW: Zoro Finally Takes Down King in ‘One Piece’ Chapter 1035

Queen is beaten, only King remains. That is how the latest One Piece chapter kicks off, as we see Queen still flying in the air from Sanji’s final kick. The opening of the chapter acts as a nice epilogue from that battle, as we get a cute moment of Sanji making sure that the mouse Chuji is safe and even a callback to his time feeding the poor animals while living under his father’s rule. After everything he went through, it’s nos surprise that he would pass out, but we’re still left wondering how much this fight has cost him.

Speaking of, Zoro is still in the middle of his battle with King, as Enma continues to drain his Haki at an alarming rate. Yet, he has found a way to control it, as he builds upon his newly awakened Conqueror’s Haki. It also seemed like he figured out the weakness of King’s base abilities, as he is slowly overtaking him. This may be the first time that Zoro is meeting his limit in a fight and it’s great how it balances out the elements that are presented here.

King turns out to be a man named Alber, who has a similar tattoo to the Skypians we met all those years ago. It looks like he and Kaido were experimented on in Punk Hazard, as Oda sneaks in a small flashback. We get a very different look at the leader of the Beast Pirates, who even had a smile on his face at one point before becoming the guy we meet today. Perhaps his Joy Boy reference earlier on was referencing his own failure.

The fight is surprisingly simple, as the focus is mainly on the long-awaited reveal of what was hiding behind King’s gimp mask. Right after the revelation on his past, we get a few interesting attacks between the two. Didn’t realize that his sword can shift design to potentially break Zoro’s swords, which he promptly reacts to. It’s interesting that there is a lot of attention given to that very fact before he finally lands a hard-hitting strike on the menacing King.

He even manages to push him into a corner, which was great to see, as our favorite first mate is forced to figure out how the flames affect the Lunarian’s ability. The final takedown including a dragon made of pure fire inspired by his captain was a great touch, as it highlights Zoro’s ability to cut even fire, which was teased earlier on, but also means that if the first mate can take down a dragon, his captain will manage the exact same. The visual with the Haki-covered swords look amazing, especially on the final page. It looks like he not only broke King’s sword – probably a retaliation on his obsession of breaking his – but even takes out a wing. It’s a fantastic moment to end the chapter on, and here’s hoping we finally see how Luffy’s fight is going in 1036.

Joe and Suki return to discuss Sanji’s big moment in chapter 1034, as he finally takes a final kick to take down Queen. Of course, they also discuss the latest news on Netflix passing on Tomorrow Studio’s Cowboy Bebop, who is also working on One Piece.

  • Tom Holland on Working With Tobey Maguire, and Andrew Garfield’s on ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’

Tom Holland on Working With Tobey Maguire, and Andrew Garfield’s on ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’

It’s crazy to think that all the rumors circulating throughout the internet turned out to be true. Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire made their grand return as Peter Parker at the moment you would at least expect it. Of course, the current Spider-Man actor, Tom Holland, was quite excited to meet those that defined the shoes he stepped into back in Captain America: Civil War and shared some thoughts on their return. To kick it off, he talked about how excited Maguire was about returning to the role and once again putting on the suit, which started it all off.

He was really excited to be back. You could tell it really meant a lot to him. Him putting the suit on again. Us getting back together. It was awesome.

    Tom Holland

Of course, there was also his meeting with Andrew Garfield, who may have given the most heartfelt performance in the film. The actor originally played the character with potential hints at crossovers planned early on, but his trilogy was cut short and the project seemed like the perfect way to find some closure as highlighted by Holland.

Andrew Garfield, the legend himself.  He’s such a lovely guy. I think this film was his way of making peace with Spider-Man It was such a privilege to work with him. I know that it meant a lot to him

    Tom Holland

Zendaya also gave her thoughts on watching the three actors come together and the respect they had for carrying this very specific role. It also seems like they bonded quite a bit throughout production.

It was so beautiful. [Tobey, Andrew, and Tom] care so deeply about the characters, and what their characters— what their journey had been as Spider-Man. It was so beautiful to see all of you guys connect on that and be able to talk to each other about such a special experience that very few people have been able to don the suit. It was great to see how much you guys all really cared and had each other’s back. It was really sweet.

    Zendaya

We’re about to head into a new era for Holland‘s take on the character. So, it seemed like a surprisingly perfect time for the past to push him forward. It’s great to see what each actor brought to the project, especially Garfield making up

  • EXCLUSIVE: Djimon Honsou Talks Training for His Action Scenes in ‘The King’s Man’

EXCLUSIVE: Djimon Honsou Talks Training for His Action Scenes in ‘The King’s Man’

The King’s Man is opening in theaters across the country todayOur own Hunter Radesi recently got a chance to sit down with stars Djimon Hounsou and Rhys Ifans for an extensive interview. Talk naturally turned to their roles in the prequel film in Matthew Vaughn’s acclaimed Kingsman series where Ifans is playing the villainous Grigori Rasputin, while Hounsou is playing Shola, one of the first King’s men. In the interview, Hounsou talked about some of what fans can expect regarding the fight scenes and how he made sure it was him doing the fighting.

Of course I did quite a bit of extensive training. Rhys and I had different times scheduled for training, but we knew the choreography going into it. We’ve never gone off on each other like that though, so we were trying to save that for later so that we wouldn’t hurt one another. That’s one way to look at it, but it was a tough one to do.

The conversation naturally pivoted to Hounsou’s experience in fight scenes, beginning with Blood Diamond and then being fleshed out in other films:

I’ve obviously done a lot of fight sequences before. Action is something that I like and that I enjoy doing, but on this one with Matthew (Vaughn), I had no idea to what degree he requests and demands the action to be more epic than we’ve ever seen. More different and more engaging than we’ve ever seen. That came with a bit of a price tag, in terms of physicality.

As Hounsou said, he’s no stranger to action sequences, having starred in the films in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the Fast and the Furious franchise; however, as the trailers have indicated, audiences are in for something special with what he’s put on film in The King’s Man which is now playing in theaters.

  • ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ Already Passes $300M Domestically, May Pass $500M By Christmas

‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ Already Passes $300M Domestically, May Pass $500M By Christmas

Spider-Man: No Way Home is dominating the box office even as there still remains some uncertainty surrounding the pandemic’s current development. As mentioned in the previous coverage, the film managed to already pass $600M. Well, it continued its momentum into its Monday showing with the third-best fourth-day release, as it garnered $37.1M right behind Black Panther‘s $40.2M and Star Wars: The Force Awakens $40.1M. It is currently following a similar trajectory to both films and is showcasing some promising development, as highlighted by @GiteshPandya overview.

With its Tuesday release, the film has now managed to cross the $300M mark domestically by garnering $31.4M and has now passed $700M worldwide. It’s uncertain how far it’ll go at this point, but a billion box office seems like a certainty. At this rate, there’s a good chance that it may pass the mark by next week, as its trajectory is going towards a $500M by the end of its second weekend. Plus, as pointed out above, there’s the holiday weekend boost that’s on the horizon. So, we might be looking at a potential $1.5B run at least.

The only real competition the film has is the latest Matrix entry and Sing 2, but they don’t fully share the same core audience. At this rate, it is also performing incredibly well overseas, as it’s going to pass F9 and No Time To Die‘s international grosses (including China) to become the biggest international success since Frozen II.

  • Michael Keaton Returning in ‘Batgirl’

    Michael Keaton Returning in ‘Batgirl’

For a while now there’s been a lot of back and forth regarding just who would be donning the cape and cowl as the main universe Batman. Ben Affleck is set to reprise the role, for what’s believed to be a brief cameo in The Flash, while Michael Keaton will co-star alongside Ezra Miller and Sasha Calle in the film. The big question is just what actor will continue on forward in the DCEU following The Flash and Warner Brothers 2022 press release may have given us the answer we were waiting for.

Warner Brother released a slew of tidbits on upcoming DC projects, including Batgirl. In the press release for the film, Warner Brothers has officially listed Michael Keaton in the cast, seemingly confirming that he will be the Bat to stick around following the events of The Flash. A while back the directors of Batgirl confirmed that Batman would indeed appear in the film, but when asked who would only disclose that it was “The Real Batman.”

The DCEU will definitely be taking an interesting path forward with Keaton reportedly taking on a ‘Nick-fury type’ role following his return in The Flash.

Batgirl currently has no set release but with a Christmas theme in many of the photos, it does seem like it could indeed be a December 2022 release. The film will be direct by Bilall Fallah and Adil El Arbi with Leslie Grace starring in the titular role.

  • Barry Keoghan Confirmed to Appear in ‘The Batman’

Barry Keoghan Confirmed to Appear in ‘The Batman’

We are only a few months away from Matt Reeves‘ adaptation of The Batman. Robert Pattinson will offer us a new look at the iconic Caped Crusader, as he faces off against a new take on the Riddler played by Paul Dano. It seems like that the long-rumored appearance of Barry Keaghan has finally gotten a confirmation, as Warner Bros. shared an official cast listing on their official website which includes as part of their 2022 preview showcase.

While they do highlight most of the actors in their respective roles, his inclusion is only in the overview. So, there’s no confirmation what role he is specifically playing and they might be busy trying to keep that a secret ahead of the film’s March premiere. He just recently appeared in a comic book adaptation of Eternals as Druig, and it’ll be interesting to see what he brings to the latest DC adaptation.

  • Michael Shannon Joins The Cast of ‘The Flash’

Michael Shannon Joins The Cast of ‘The Flash’

The MCU’s multiverse blew up this year thanks to Loki, What If…?, Spider-Man: No Way Home, and soon, the DCEU will follow suit with The Flash. While characters like Supergirl and Michael Keaton‘s Batman are expected to return, one particular villain is set to make an unexpected appearance as well. The official Warner Bros. listing of the film has Michael Shannon as one of its cast members. This likely means we’ll be seeing more of General Zod.

Zod won’t be the only evil Kryptonian making a return as Faora-Ul, played by Ante Traue, is listed next to Shannon as well. Their return bodes for some interesting problems Ezra Miller‘s Barry Allen will have to face. Perhaps we could see a variation of the events of Man of Steel, through the eyes of a time-traveling Barry Allen. Maybe there’s an Earth where Zod and his army successfully terraform our planet.

  • New ‘Doctor Strange’ Trailer Includes Updated Version of Original Marvel Fanfare Used in ‘X-Men’, ‘Spider-Man’, And More

New ‘Doctor Strange’ Trailer Includes Updated Version of Original Marvel Fanfare Used in ‘X-Men’, ‘Spider-Man’, And More

Here’s a rather curious detail. For some time, Marvel Studios has been highlighting its intros in new and creative ways, as fanfare has become an essential aspect of any Marvel viewing experience. It also makes them distinct from other studios that used the logo, such as Sony who included the “In Association With” during airings of their spinoffs like Venom. Interestingly enough, the first trailer has dropped for next year’s ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and it includes an interesting detail.

In the brief showcase of the fanfare getting split apart by what is likely the multiverse, similar in design to What If…?’s crystal effect, you can spot the original Marvel opening that was used for the original X-Men, Spider-Man, or any classic Marvel film. Early on, even Marvel Studios used it only adding the “Studios” part to make it distinct.

It’s not a direct reference, but the logo nowadays includes the live-action characters in its opening rather than comic depictions. It looks like an updated or slightly altered version of the original, if you compare it to Logan, for example.

The current version is quite a bit different, as it opens up with the comic logos but doesn’t showcase the Marvel logo until much later. What is interesting is that you can see a 3D version of the classic logo included as well. Perhaps we get a unique intro fanfare in the Doctor Strange sequel, which would make it stand out even more. It would be fun for them to explore different versions of their intro to highlight what the series or film focuses on, as they expand with cosmic and grounded storylines.
