  • ‘Mission Impossible 8’ Delayed by a Year, New Name Potentially

‘Mission Impossible 8’ Delayed by a Year, New Name Potentially

The strikes are turning 2024 into a wasteland at this rate. While some projects were pushed back, the hope that perhaps everything gets cleared in time to promote major releases is becoming a major issue. Marvel Studios is still sticking to its The Marvels release but it’s not been rosy for theaters looking towards the next year, or even 2025.

Still, it seems Tom Cruise’s next major entry in the Mission: Impossible franchise has been delayed by an entire year as Paramount has also pushed A Quiet Place: Day One back around two months. Seems they are being quite cautious going into next year. The other bizarre decision is that Dead Reckoning Part Two is going to get its own title. That is kind of a weird way to react after already naming the previous one Dead Reckoning Part 1.

It seems production wasn’t finalized on the film, which has now been bumped back to May 23rd, 2025 from its initial June 28th, 2024 release. There’s also a high expectation of other major releases getting pushed back even further. Even Spongebob Squarepants’ new film has been pushed back to December 19th, 2025, as it gave its release date to Mission Impossible. We’ll have to see what remains of next year’s slate.

  • ‘Hereditary’ Star Alex Wolff Joins ‘A Quiet Place: Day One’

‘Hereditary’ Star Alex Wolff Joins ‘A Quiet Place: Day One’

Alex Wolff, breakout star of horror movies such as Hereditary and Old, has joined the cast of A Quiet Place: Day One, a prequel spin-off to John Krasinski‘s acclaimed horror franchise. Wolff is set to star opposite Stranger Things and Black Panther favorites Joseph Quinn and Lupita Nyong’o, who both boarded the project in November of 2022. Day One will be directed and written by Michael Sarnoski, who recently worked with Wolff on the indie hit Pig, for which both received much praise. The film will be the first entry in the Quiet Place pantheon not to be helmed by Krasinski himself. While nothing is publicly known about the film’s plot, its story is reportedly set to be based on an idea from Krasinski that will help set up a full-blown Quiet Place cinematic universe for the future.

Also in development is third film in the original franchise, titled A Quiet Place III, with Krasinski back to direct. However, that film will be an entirely separate project from Day One. Neither Krasinski nor fellow franchise star Emily Blunt are expected to reprise their roles from previous films. But for now, fans can rest easy knowing that the future of the Quiet Place franchise rests on the more than capable shoulders of talents like Wolff, Quinn, and Nyong’o.

A Quiet Place: Day One is set to hit theaters on March 8th, 2024. Currently undated, A Quiet Place III is set to release sometime in 2025.

  • ‘Stranger Things’ Star Joseph Quinn Joins ‘A Quiet Place: Day One’

‘Stranger Things’ Star Joseph Quinn Joins ‘A Quiet Place: Day One’

Eddie Munson is back to fight more monsters, only this time, he won’t be able to shred on his guitar. Stranger Things breakout star Joseph Quinn has joined the cast of A Quiet Place: Day One, a prequel spin-off to John Krasinski‘s acclaimed horror franchise. He is set to play a leading role opposite Black Panther favorite Lupita Nyong’o, who boarded the project earlier this month. Day One will be directed by Michael Sarnoski, who recently received praise for his indie hit Pig, making it the first entry in the Quiet Place pantheon not to be helmed by Krasinski himself. However, though nothing is publicly known about it’s plot details at this time, the film’s story is reportedly set to be based on an idea from Krasinski that will help set up a full-blown Quiet Place cinematic universe for the future.

A Quiet Place Part III is also in development, with Krasinski back to direct, but is an entirely separate project from Day One. It is highly unlikely that either Krasinski or fellow franchise star Emily Blunt reprise their roles from previous films, if not completely impossible. For now, fans should find themselves very content with talents like Quinn and Nyong’o leading a new adventure through the horrific silence of the Quiet Place world. This will be the former’s first major role since his Stranger Things character threw him into the international spotlight.

A Quiet Place: Day One is set to hit theaters on March 8th, 2024. A Quiet Place Part III will follow sometime in 2025.

  • ‘Black Panther’s Lupita Nyong’o to Star in ‘A Quiet Place’ Spinoff

‘Black Panther’s Lupita Nyong’o to Star in ‘A Quiet Place’ Spinoff

While Lupita Nyong’o is busy promoting Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, a film that also acts as a tribute to the late Chadwick Boseman, she has seemingly already set her eyes on the next major franchise. In a new article by Deadline, they reveal that Nyong’o is in final negotiations to take on the lead role of A Quiet Place prequel titled Day One. Michael Sarnoski of Pig fame is set to direct the film based on an idea by series creator John Krasinky.

There’s no word exactly how this new entry would fit into Krasinski‘s franchise, who directed the first two entries. While it does seem like they still hope to have a third entry for the main franchise out by 2025, this film is likely to establish a cinematic universe for the horror franchise. Emily Blunt and Krasinski are likely not to appear in the film; though its title could hint at them as potential background characters for an Easter egg during the events that would lead to the original films.

It’s definitely a curious direction to establish a cinematic universe based on this horror concept. Ever since Marvel Studios coined the term for its films, many have been chasing that very potential. We’ll see if there truly is enough material to mine out of A Quiet Place to establish a cinematic universe, but the promise of Sarnoski directing the film is already offering something promising.

  • ‘Mission: Impossible 7’ and ‘A Quiet Place’ Spinoff Official Titles Revealed

‘Mission: Impossible 7’ and ‘A Quiet Place’ Spinoff Official Titles Revealed

It’s Paramount’s turn at CinemaCon to announce a few projects. While they already had their own event that was chock-full of announcements, they used the opportunity to announce the official titles for two of their upcoming flagship franchises, Mission: Impossible and A Quiet Place. Not only did we get the title for the seventh entry in the franchise but also a good hint of what the spinoff is all about.

Let’s start with the big announcement and that is that Tom Cruise appeared on screen to announce that his upcoming film is titled Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One. Now, the name may have some major implications, as there have been some behind-the-scenes statements that hinted that the first film’s production isn’t officially ended as they push back the release dates and try to keep investments open for both parts. So, the title “Part One” may add that additional pressure on the executives.

That’s not all, as the upcoming A Quiet Place spinoff also finally gets a name, which is simply A Quiet Place: Day One. As many suspected, the project will explore the early days of the invasion that would change the lives of many. Keep in mind, that this isn’t the actual third entry, which isn’t set to release until 2025. Day One will be directed by Pig‘s Michael Sarnoski, who took over from Jeff Nichols. So, it’s great to finally get the confirmation on what the film will focus on.

  • ‘A Quiet Place 3’ to Release in 2025

‘A Quiet Place 3’ to Release in 2025

ViacomCBS – who has now rebranded to Paramount – is currently busy announcing its future plans and just throwing one piece of news out after another. Among their many iconic IPs is the horror franchise A Quiet Place, which John Krasinski kicked off and is slowly evolving into its own cinematic universe. The first spinoff, which just added Pig director Michael Sarnosky is eyeing a release in 2023, but it looks like the official third entry will be heading to theaters in 2025. Sadly, no further details were given.

It’ll be interesting to see how exactly the spinoff might connect to the upcoming third entry. We know that Krasinski is set to return alongside Emily Blunt in the next entry of the franchise, which is theorized to take place before the events of the original film. So, it may build up some connections that may pay off in the release of the third entry that further expands the world that suddenly fell silent.

  • ‘A Quiet Place’ Spinoff Release Date Pushed Back

‘A Quiet Place’ Spinoff Release Date Pushed Back

It was just recently that we learned that Pig director Michael Sarnoski was taking over directing duties of A Quiet Place spinoff. Originally, Jeff Nicholas was going to tackle the project that was going to be Paramount’s gateway into creating a horror-based cinematic universe. Yet, it wasn’t until this month that they managed to find a replacement. As production hasn’t started yet, they have now also pushed the release date back by quite some months.

It’s interesting that they decided to push back Mission: Impossible films – which have already been filmed mind you – back by an entire year, but A Quiet Place has now moved from March 31 to September 22, 2023. Of course, there’s the possibility that this is a film they’ve already worked on for some time and secretly filmed, or that production for Sarnoski‘s project will begin rather shortly.

The film is still quite a mystery, as the more, we hear about it, it seems that it may explore the days when the alien invasion first started. John Krasinski and Emily Blunt are set to return. Given the fate of the former, it seems likely to state that this might spin off the events before the first film and might introduce a few new protagonists moving forward.

  • ‘Pig’s Michael Sarnoski In Talks to Tackle ‘A Quiet Place’ Spinoff

‘Pig’s Michael Sarnoski In Talks to Tackle ‘A Quiet Place’ Spinoff

There was quite some uproar when Jeff Nichols left A Quiet Place spinoff project, but that hasn’t deterred Paramount Pictures from finding a replacement. It looks like their search has finally come to an end, as hot off of his success with the Nicolas Cage-led film Pig, director Michael Sarnoski is in negotiations to take over the project. It’s still a mystery what the project will be about, as it’s mainly based on an idea from John Krasinski that won’t continue the storyline from the previous two entries.

Currently, Paramount Pictures is hopeful that this new entry in the franchise might expand a new cinematic universe in the vein of the Marvel Cinematic Universe or the DC Extended Universe. They also hint that Emily Blunt and Krasinski are set to return, which hints at this storyline potentially acting as a prequel to the events that kicked off the franchise’s main storyline.

It’ll be interesting if they have enough to work with to create an entire universe, especially with the limiting concept that defines the reason it has its name. Though, it would be funny if we start getting spinoffs with different titles that change out the “quiet” in A Quiet Place. With a director in final negotiations, it hopefully means we might get some information in the near future.

  • ‘A Quiet Place’ Spinoff Loses Director Jeff Nichols

‘A Quiet Place’ Spinoff Loses Director Jeff Nichols

In 2018, John Krasinski‘s A Quiet Place started off a new franchise where we explore a post-apocalypse world where noise-based creatures took over Earth. After the sequel made quite the mark in this year’s box office, a third entry was getting quite the traction. Yet, it looks like Paramount Pictures will have to find a new director as Jeff Nichols will not direct the threequel as previously announced in 2020. They reveal he is eyeing to tackle a new sci-fi project, but will remain with Paramount and has been getting fast-tracked.

Of course, they are already actively looking for a replacement that’ll tackle the untitled sequel. It won’t continue where the recent release ended but act as a separate spin-off. Paramount is hoping to kick-start a new cinematic universe with this horror franchise. There are even hints that Emily Blunt and Krasinsky might return to reprise their roles as it explores the world in its earliest days of the invasion.

Platinum Dunes will continue to produce with Michael Bay, Andrew Form, and Brad Fuller acting as producers. The big question also remains how much they can pull from this base concept. Horror franchises aren’t new to this venture and there’s a lot of potentials to build upon the base concept. It would be funny if they gave us a prequel building up to the moment the world changed and they called it “A Loud Place.”

  • Third ‘A Quiet Place’ Film In Development Eyeing 2023 Release

Third ‘A Quiet Place’ Film In Development Eyeing 2023 Release

Paramount Pictures isn’t done with A Quiet Place just yet. The studio has given a release date to a third installment in the popular horror franchise, which may or may not act as the series’ first spin-off. According to insider Erik Davis, the project will drop on March 31, 2023. The news comes shortly after A Quiet Place: Part II successfully helped ring in the return of movie theaters across the United States. The untitled project will be helmed by Jeff Nichols, who is best known for his dramatic work with films like Mud and Loving. The script is based on an original story by Nichols and franchise creator John Krasinski. This will make the film the first Quiet Place feature not to be directed by Krasinski himself.

A Quiet Place released in 2018 to critical acclaim and focused around a family attempting to survive in a world populated by noise-sensitive monsters. The sequel was intended to come out in 2020 but was delayed over a year due to the unexpected global pandemic. A third film has been in the cards for a long time, with Nichols’ potential spin-off being announced in November of 2020. In terms of continuing the franchise past 2023, series star Emily Blunt stated recently that husband Krasinski had a “whole arc of ideas” for more films. She was quoted as saying:

I think he just wanted to see how people responded to [the second one] before he fully engaged his brain on the third one. But he has a couple of great ideas.

Whatever the case may be with this next movie, it seems likely that A Quiet Place is here to stay.
