  • Benedict Cumberbatch on How ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’ Became “a Sam Raimi Picture”

Benedict Cumberbatch on How ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’ Became “a Sam Raimi Picture”

Marvel Studios has built up a reputation for how they tackle their projects. For some time, it was commonly called the “Marvel formula” due to similarities being enforced on earlier projects through the special committee put in place by Marvel CEO Isaac Perlmutter. Ever since Captain America: Civil War, there’s been a stronger shift and we got more creative projects like Thor: Ragnarok, Black Panther, and more. Even now, the latest trailer for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness promises a darker tale and a deep dive into the horrors of the multiverse, as Sam Raimi takes over the reins of this project.

And it seems once he took over from director Scott Derrickson, who left the project due to creative differences, that shift became a strong focus for everyone involved. In an interview with Empire, Benedict Cumberbatch shared how the director joining shifted the project to make sure his talents and horror roots are reflected in his work. As the actor puts it:

Once it became Sam, it was always about making it a Sam Raimi picture. Your head’s going to be spun.

    Benedict Cumberbatch

The trailer certainly promised some creative camera work and horror elements like the potential tease of a new Zombie Strange. It’s unclear if it’s the same from What If…? or even a zombie to begin with. Though seeing a Variant of Strange being slowly turned into one would make for quite the memorable visual. It’s a shame Derrickson couldn’t bring his vision to life, but it would be great to see him potentially tackle a different project with horror elements.

  • ‘Multiverse of Madness’ Trailer Hints at Doctor Strange Visiting an Animated Universe

‘Multiverse of Madness’ Trailer Hints at Doctor Strange Visiting an Animated Universe

We might be able to write all night about all the small details that are included in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’ Super Bowl trailer. We just shared an article that the trailer may have hinted at the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s take on the Savage Lands, but mere seconds before that you can actually see a star-shaped portal. Strange and America Chavez are falling through the multiverse and if you look closely, it almost seems like they are dropping out of a universe that seems to be animated or at least drawn.

There’s no clear point of reference to figure out what it may be hinting at, but with their revival of the 90s X-Men animated series, they could be using this as a point of connection. It’s certainly closer to hand-drawn animation rather than the CGI designs we got with What If…? but something that almost seems like it’s taken from the 60s Spider-Man series with its color palette. We might never find out until the film releases, but speculation is going to be fun to figure out where exactly they are falling out from. There’s also the chance that is a purposeful placeholder to keep viewers on the edge of their seat deciphering what secrets the film might have in store for us.

  • ‘Doctor Strange’ Trailer May Have Teased the Savage Lands

‘Doctor Strange’ Trailer May Have Teased the Savage Lands

There are a lot of interesting details to take away from the new trailer for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. I might even be running out of ideas on how to start these articles, but there is one more really interesting detail that might have bigger implications moving forward for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Besides the biggest reveal in the trailer, there’s a small moment that actually may have hinted at an iconic location from the comics that finally finds its way into live-action.

In a blink-or-you-miss-it moment, Strange is seen floating alongside America Chavez from one portal to another. What stands out is that a tyrannosaurus rex is standing in the background ready to let out a powerful stream. No, it’s not a crossover with Jurassic World: Dominion but rather the first introduction of the continent known as the Savage Land. In the comics, it’s set in Antarctica and is a prehistoric land that has remained hidden through volcanoes surrounding it.

We don’t get a confirmation that this is definitely the Savage Land, but as the story is about dimension-hopping and not time travel, the MCU could introduce this land as part of its own pocket dimension similar to what we saw in Shang-Chi and the Legend of Tomorrow‘s Tao Lo. Chavez might be the reason they are being catapulted from one dimension to another, but it’s a great little addition in case the land makes a return in a future project. There’s still the chance it may simply be a dimension where dinosaurs continue to thrive but one can dream.

  • Ultron Sentry Return in ‘Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness’ Trailer

Ultron Sentry Return in ‘Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness’ Trailer

The latest trailer for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness has finally dropped and it includes quite a lot from what we can expect in the upcoming sequel. The biggest reveal came in the form of a simple voice clip of a voice everyone might recognize, but there was one part of the multiverse that stuck out quite a bit in the trailer in the form of Ultron Sentry making their return. We can clearly see them escort Strange after he was arrested for his crimes against reality. It’s not sure what exactly is going on and where he is, but some of the leaks may help clarify what is going on.

What is worth pointing out is the silver, slick design of these Ultron bots. It’s very reminiscent of Superior Iron Man’s design. As we don’t know who the other members of this council are beside the one major reveal, there’s a chance that an alternative version of Tony Stark could make an appearance. We’re talking about the multiverse, which opens up a lot of possibilities for Marvel Studios to explore. The trailer finds that perfect balance to give away nothing while making us scratch our heads what exactly is going on.

  • New ‘Multiverse of Madness’ Poster Teases Live-Action Debut of Captain Carter

New ‘Multiverse of Madness’ Poster Teases Live-Action Debut of Captain Carter

When Haley Atwell returned to voice Captain Carter in Marvel Studios canonical animated series, What If…?, it wasn’t long before rumors began to swirl that the character would eventually make the jump to live-action. In fact, we even speculated here that the What If…? Marvel Legends wave might have pointed in that very direction. Thanks to the new poster for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, fans need speculate no longer.

The magnificent new poster for the upcoming film shows what would seem to be the after effects of Strange’s spell in Spider-Man: No Way Home that broke open the multiverse. Among the images reflected on the shards of the broken window of the Sanctum Sanctorum, we can see the shield wielded by Captain Carter in What If…?.

What role will Captain Carter play in the film? Rumors have her among the members of the Illuminati who were revealed in the latest trailer. We’ll all find out together when Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness hits theaters on May 6, 2022.

  • New ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’ Trailer Confirms [SPOILER] Return

New ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’ Trailer Confirms [SPOILER] Return

The Super Bowl hasn’t even started yet, but Marvel Studios decided to drop the new trailer for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. It’s probably one of Marvel’s best but what really stands out is we briefly get a moment that Benedict Cumberbatch’s Strange is put before a mysterious council. It’s hinted that he’s on trial for destroying reality as we know it. We don’t clearly see who makes up this council, but we do hear a very familiar voice say the words “We should tell him the truth!”

    Image

While we don’t see his face, the voice is definitely that of Patrick Stewart. Of course, there’s only one role he is potentially taking on and it seems likely to say this is Marvel Studios’ way of teasing the recent rumors that Professor X a.k.a. Charles Xavier will make his return in the upcoming Marvel sequel. It’s a clever way to tease his addition without actually showing him which will definitely quell quite a bit of discussion online.

  • Disney+ to Add ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’ This Summer

Disney+ to Add ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’ This Summer

It seems we may have missed a little detail from yesterday’s Disney Earning all. while most o our focus was primarily on the impressive growth that Disney+ had in the last quarter of 2021. Yet, there was also a brief mention of the fact by Disney CEO that Bob Chapek confirmed the upcoming release of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness will land on Disney+ in the summer. Of course, the film won’t release until May of this year but it’s great to have a confirmation that it will release on the streaming service in a similar time window that we saw with Eternals or Shang-Chi. The confirmation was shared by @azalben on Twitter.

    https://twitter.com/azalben/status/1491528514788544513?s=21

Disney has generally focused on shortening the release window between their projects, as they are not only trying to bank on the box office success but also growing their internal streaming service. Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness will likely be filled to the brim with easter eggs and Disney+ will be the best place to start looking for what one might’ve missed while watching it in theaters.

Disney+ has become the home for all of Disney’s IPs but during the Earnings Call, Chapek hinted that they want to also include the Spider-Man films, but Sony’s dealings are going to keep them from doing so. We know Spider-Man: No Way Home is heading to Starz first and Sony does have a deal that their projects will eventually land on Disney+, but there’s still no clear time window when we can expect it. So, for now, we’ll have to wait for further confirmation.

  • FIRST LOOK: New ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’ Merch Hints at Classic Comic Design

FIRST LOOK: New ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’ Merch Hints at Classic Comic Design

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is just a few more months away, as Marvel Studios has been busy getting their merchandise out for the upcoming film. We’ve seen a strong focus on the film’s upcoming supporting cast and the tease of the many Strange variants we’ll see in the film. One of them is even strongly inspired by the Defender run of the character. A new piece of merchandise may have revealed another classic comic costume.

A new line from the Titan Hero Series Doctor Strange and the Scarlet Witch. What stands out is that Strange’s design includes a very familiar blue design that fans of Greg Pak and Emma RíosDoctor Strange: Season One might be familiar with:

For those not familiar, Doctor Strange: Season One was a retelling of the iconic character’s origins. Pak and Ríos gave new life to help new readers catch up on the Sorcerer Supreme’s early beginnings. The cover art featured a blue design that seems to be an inspiration for the upcoming film’s take on the character.

It’s great to see the films pull in more designs from the comics, and it’s certainly a deep cut to pull from. There’s still a chance that the version in this merchandise isn’t the one we’ve been following since the first Doctor Strange film, as we already know it’ll feature a variety of Variants. So, we’ll see if we get a better look once the next trailer releases.

  • Latest ‘Multiverse of Madness’ Promo Art Focuses on Doctor Strange and His Variants

Latest ‘Multiverse of Madness’ Promo Art Focuses on Doctor Strange and His Variants

Quite a few bits of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness merchandise have found their way online featuring mostly a look at the supporting cast of the upcoming May release. Yet, there’s also some promotional material that focuses primarily on not one, but three Variants of Benedict Cumberbatch‘s Doctor Strange. So far, the initial trailer teased two different versions of the character from the multiverse with the Defender version getting quite a bit of promotion even though he was only briefly teased in the initial trailer. The big standout is the inclusion of the evil version of Strange that appeared in the trailer’s ending.

The designs are great, especially with how all three versions of the character phase in and out of each other. The third design especially highlights the small differences between the character, such as the white stripe in the hair instead of his usual sides. The evil version also has a bigger beard connected to his goatee. It’ll be interesting to see if we might get other versions besides these three in the film. Plus, who knows who else might have a Variant of their own waiting to meet them in the multiverse. Here’s hoping we might get similar designs once they are revealed in the upcoming film. It’s going to be exciting just how mad the multiverse is going to end up once it releases in May.

  • New ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’ Merch Offers New Look at Mordo and Rintrah

New ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’ Merch Offers New Look at Mordo and Rintrah

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is only a few more months away, and Marvel Studios is still pushing out merchandise to build up to its release. We haven’t gotten a full trailer just yet, as most of your understanding of the film comes from the teaser trailer that got attached to Spider-Man: No Way Home. We’ll get reintroduced to some familiar faces and even some new ones. The big return is with Chiwetel Ejiofor’s Mordo. We’ve previously got a chance to see his updated design, but it looks like he also has reached the rank of Master at some point according to the new piece of merchandise.

Of course, in a story all about the multiverse, there’s always a chance that he isn’t the Mordo we last saw in the post-credit sequence of Doctor Strange. In the teaser trailer, he did seem like he was on friendly terms with STrange, but we also don’t know what path he went down. There’s also the question of the new character we are getting introduced to in the form of Rintrah. Some new merchandise offers a new look at the character, who might have a big role in the upcoming film.

We still know very little about the project, but it’ll be interesting how all these characters play into the madness that will be unleashed with the multiverse. Plus, there are also the Variants that we’ve seen of the film’s main protagonist, which opens up the door to any of the newly introduced characters stemming from across the multiverse. We’ll see if the new trailer might offer a better look at what the film has in store for us.
