EXCLUSIVE: Elvis Presley Heads to the CW’s ‘Legacies’

Like its predecessors, The Vampire Diaries and The Originals, the CW’s Legacies has been known to go off the rails a bit from time to time. So, it shouldn’t be too surprising then that the series is looking to bring in the King.

We here a Murphy’s Multiverse can exclusively reveal that the eighth episode in Legacies ‘ fourth season will bring in Elvis. How and why Elvis is coming? Well, that remains to be seen. However, the King has the potential to become a recurring character in the fourth season. The character breakdown for the episode simply says the series is looking for a male actor to portray Elvis Presley in his 40s. Despite being the King in real life, Elvis now finds himself humbled in the Afterlife. As it stands, the role is a co-starring role specifically for this episode, however, the actor does have the potential to land a recurring gig on Legacies as Elvis. Unsurprisingly, the series is encouraging Elvis impersonators to audition.

Filming on the fourth season of Legacies will begin on Dec. 15 with the series breaking after the 19th for the holidays. Production will begin again on Jan. 2 and continue through Oct. 22. As usual, filming will take place in Covington, Georgia.

Who would you cast as Elvis? Send us your suggestions!

  • EXCLUSIVE: ‘Morbius’ Filming Additional Scenes Involving Michael Keaton’s Vulture

EXCLUSIVE: ‘Morbius’ Filming Additional Scenes Involving Michael Keaton’s Vulture

Recently, during an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live, Michael Keaton told the host that he would soon be reprising the role of Adrian Toomes, a character he first played in 2017’s Spider-Man: Homecoming and then again in Sony’s Morbius, which is set to release late next month. Keaton’s nonchalant, matter of fact delivery of the news set fans abuzz as they began to speculate on what property he might be working on. Fans began to wonder if we was doing some additional photography on Morbius or if he might be joining Spider-Man: No Way Home or if he was joining some unknown, mystery project.

While I have yet to hear Keaton’s name attached to Spider-Man: No Way Home, we can exclusively reveal that his work on his role in Morbius is still ongoing with just 7 weeks until release. Though we don’t have details on whether Keaton was working on reshoots or additional photography, the work isn’t done quite yet as scenes with the character will be filmed next week.

To this point, Keaton’s appearance in the footage that’s been released for Morbius point towards the character making what amounts to an extended cameo. However, if Sony has been filming scenes with the character for the past two weeks, it would seem like an attempt to beef up the role in the upcoming film. With Venom: Let There Be Carnage opening a way for character’s from Sony’s Marvel films to crossover into the MCU and with Amy Pascal indicating that Sony and Marvel Studios are continuing their collaboration, anything is possible in terms of what to expect from Keaton’s role in the future.

  • EXCLUSIVE: First Details on Pete Davidson and James DeMarco Horror Film ‘The Home’

EXCLUSIVE: First Details on Pete Davidson and James DeMarco Horror Film ‘The Home’

While the headlines right now surrounding Pete Davidson are about his seemingly new dating life with Kim Kardashian, he has also been busy with quite a few projects throughout the last few years. he made a name for himself during his time on Saturday Night Live, he’s also appeared in quite a few films, including the recent release of James Gunn‘s The Suicide Squad. He’s also going to appear in the upcoming film Meet Cute and has a horror film in the works. Luckily, we can exclusively share the first details on his upcoming project The Home.

Davidson will take on the main role of Max, who is given a community service assignment at a local retirement home, which also explains the film’s title. The elderly residents are surprisingly full of life and he believes he may have gotten his hands on a good gig. But, it is a horror film after all, something far sinister is lurking in the shadows.

The Purge veteran James DeMonaco wrote the script alongside actor Adam Cantor, who is also going to have a role in the project. It is already in production in New York and New Jersey but is eyeing a production end in January or at the latest in March of 2022. It’ll be interesting to see what a dark and sinister retirement home might offer in the form of a horror film. It sounds like a similar concept that M. Night Shyamalan explored in The Visit, but on a much bigger scale. So, nightmares are certainly abound once the project releases.

  • EXCLUSIVE: ‘Farewell Amor’s Ekwa Msangi Directing an Episode of Showtime’s ‘Three Women’

EXCLUSIVE: ‘Farewell Amor’s Ekwa Msangi Directing an Episode of Showtime’s ‘Three Women’

Showtime has been working on an adaptation of Lisa Taddeo‘s Three Women since 2019. The story of three women’s sexual and emotional experiences across the United States became a best seller in its debut. Even more impressing if you consider it was Taddeo‘s debut publication. The story of Lina, Maggie, and Sloane caught Showtime’s eye and it wasn’t until July that they gave it a series order with Shailene Woodley, DeWanda Wise, and Betty Gilpin taking over the role of our main trio. We can now exclusively share that the production has added Tanzanian-American filmmaker Ekwa Msangi to direct an episode of the series.

Msangi made a name in the industry for her work on the TV movie All My Friends Are Married, and her work on the film Farwell Amor back in 2020. Her work featured strong female leads exploring their place in the world, which makes her a perfect addition to the creative team aiming to bring Three Women to life. Her TV movie All My Friends Are Married explored women in their thirties trying to avoid turning into spinsters in New York City. Farewell Amor explored the story of an Angolan woman, as she bonds with a stranger through their love for dance.

Taddeo spent around eight years working on the novel and explored the locations that are the focus of each character’s life. Lina is a suburban mother from Indiana while Maggie is a high school student from North Dakota. Sloane lives in the Northeast of the United States, where she has a very peculiar relationship with her husband.

The episode is set to film late this year and into 2022. The series began production earlier this Fall and currently has no set release date.

  • EXCLUSIVE: Character Descriptions Hint at ‘Tyler Perry’s Sistas’ Zatima Spinoff’s Story

EXCLUSIVE: Character Descriptions Hint at ‘Tyler Perry’s Sistas’ Zatima Spinoff’s Story

We just recently broke the news that Tyler Perry is already working on a spinoff of his popular BET series Sistas. It’ll focus on the fan-favorite couple of Fatima and Zac, who are given the couple nickname Zatima. DeVale Ellis and Crystal Hayslett‘s characters got together in the third season’s midseason finale, which became a fan-favorite moment and most likely inspired the series’ creator to give them their series. Well, we’re not quite done as we can also exclusively offer some insight into the characters that’ll join the duo.

The series is currently casting for a December production start. The character of Angela, who is described as “Fatima’s best female friend.” Coincidentally, she is dating one of Zac’s best friends, Jake. Once she meets him, she’ll realize that she “heard all about the shady corners of Zac’s life.” So, Fatima and Zac’s relationship might face some bumps early on, as they decide to move together. There’s also the character of Belinda, who used to date him and is another close friend of Fatima’s.

We’ll also meet some of Zac’s basketball friends, such as Nathan, who is “married to Carolyn, who treats him like a dog on a short leash.” There is also Tony, who generally “has an extremely negative view of marriage.” There’s also another recurring role given to a character named Deja, who’ll rent Zac’s duplex. Yet, her interest in her new neighbor might end up leading to some trouble down the line.

These characters offer some insight into what we might expect from the spinoffs story. It looks like the whirlwind romance between Fatima and Zac will remain turbulent, especially with Angela’s knowledge of Zac’s looming over them. So, we might have to expect some conflict in the upcoming series that challenges their love but also explores the relationships forming around them.

  • EXCLUSIVE: ‘Tyler Perry’s Sistas’ Zatima Spinoff Ordered to Series

EXCLUSIVE: ‘Tyler Perry’s Sistas’ Zatima Spinoff Ordered to Series

We have a treat for fans of Tyler Perry’s Sistas. There was a lot of pull for DeVale Ellis‘ Zac and Crystal Hayslett‘s Fatima to get together and it wasn’t until the third season’s midseason finale that Zac confessed and “Zatima” was born. Their popularity made them fan-favorites and it looks like Tyler Perry wants to explore their relationship a bit more, as we can exclusively share that a series focused on the two is currently in development.

Perry will return as director and writer for the series that is currently eyeing a production start in December. It’s perfect timing as Sistas recently got renewed for a fourth season by BET. The new series is currently going to run for ten episodes with BET+ and Tyler Perry Studios involved with the production. Perry has worked on quite a few TV series including House of Payne, Young Dylan, The Oval, and many more. Sistas started in 2019, the same year as The Oval.

It’s great to see how much momentum the show has built over the years. While DeVale Ellis has been playing Zac since the series began, Crystal Hayslett‘s Fatima Wilson only had a recurring role during the first season before joining as a regular in its second. Perry has worked on quite a few TV series including House of Payne, Young Dylan, The Oval, and many more. Sistas started in 2019, the same year as The Oval which was quite a busy year for the producer, actor, and director.

  • EXCLUSIVE: Tidbits on the Evil Skrulls in ‘SECRET INVASION’

EXCLUSIVE: Tidbits on the Evil Skrulls in ‘SECRET INVASION’

Earlier this year, trades broke the news that 2020 breakout star Kingsley Ben-Adir would be joining the cast of Marvel Studios Disney Plus streaming series Secret Invasion as a villain set to go up against Nick Fury and his Skrull buddy Talos. The 35-year old actor landed a role for which Marvel Studios had checked on names such as Gary Oldman (who the studio has been interested in for several roles) and hoped for star power on the level of Denzel Washington. In short, this is a major Marvel Cinematic Universe role, but one about we know very little. Murphy’s Multiverse has uncovered a bit of information on Ben-Adir’s role and how it connects to Killian Scott’s, who joined the cast last Spring.

As fans have speculated, Ben-Adir is indeed playing a Skrull that will find himself up against Nick Fury and Talos throughout the series. The interesting bit here, however, is that Ben-Adir’s Skrull character will be revealed to have a long history with Ben Mendelsohn‘s Talos. Prior to the Kree Accusers’ destruction of the Skrull’s homeworld of Skrullos, Talos was a Skrullian general who had spent his lifetime fighting in the Kree-Skrull War working alongside Kree scientist Mar-Vell to find refuge for a group of Skrulls. Given the Skrull’s generational hatred for the Kree, it seems very likely that Ben-Adir’s Skrull character might find Talos’ taste in allies unsavory.

While Marvel Studios is working to keep the identity of Ben-Adir’s character a secret, the fact that he has a history with Talos could give fans clues as to who he might be portraying. Given it’ll have been at least 30 years since the destruction of Skrulls, it’s reasonable to assume that other Skrulls could have reestablished themselves elsewhere, perhaps Tarnax IV, and readied their invasion of Earth.

If that’s the case, Ben-Adir could be portraying the Skrull spy Paibok, who was himself a Skrullian military captain in the comics. Should they, however, wish to take the “go big or go home route,” Ben-Adir could be portraying one of the Skrull’s most decorated military heroes: Kl’rt. While most people know Kl’rt as the Super-Skrull, it wasn’t until later in his career that he became the first Skrull to carry that designation after being granted the combined powers of the Fantastic Four. Then again, it may be premature to introduce the Super-Skrull version of Kl’rt before the Fantastic Four are established. However, having a disgraced Kl’rt return home with his tail between his legs might give him the necessary motivation to become “super” in the future.

Joining Ben-Adir’s Skrull in his battle against Fury and Talos will be Scott’s character. While his identity is similarly a tightly kept secret, his character is a crony of Ben-Adir’s, meaning he’s likely a Skrull himself. Given Scott’s very everyman looks, he’s possibly playing someone like Klrr. In the comics, Klrr is a Skrull spy who infiltrated Stark Industries and whose family, under the guise of the Warners, helped prepare for a Skrull invasion. Old rumors pointed to the 2019 series Meet the Skrulls as a potential inspiration for Marvel Studios Secret Invasion, so it wouldn’t be too surprising to see some of those characters, like Klrr who posed as Carl Warner, show up here.

While some fans are still expecting a direct adaptation of the Secret Invasion comic event and looking for an Avenger cameo-fest, Kevin Feige has stated the MCU adaptation will play heavily with the themes of distrust and paranoia. On that note, fans can look forward to Christopher McDonald throwing gas on the fire as a discord-sewing, “tough talk” talking head TV figure. This one is starting to sound like it’s going to be a blast.

Secret Invasion is expected to stream sometime in the second half of 2022.

  • EXCLUSIVE: Details on Olivia Colman’s ‘Secret Invasion’ Character

EXCLUSIVE: Details on Olivia Colman’s ‘Secret Invasion’ Character

Information on Marvel Studios Secret Invasion streaming series has been tough to come by with little more than a handful of casting announcements making their way out via the trades. Of those announcements, Academy Award-winning actress Olivia Colman’s generated a great deal of buzz. Her role, like co-stars Emilia Clarke’s and Kingsley Ben-Adir’s, have been kept secret, but Murphy’s Multiverse is now able to share a few tidbits about Colman’s character.

While Disney and Marvel Studios are working hard to keep her character’s identity a secret, we can share that Colman is portraying a mysterious spy with a commanding “Fury-esque” presence. Indeed the series will be as spy-heavy as expected, with a half-dozen spy roles, including this one. Like Fury, Colman’s character will be a bit of a puppeteer who does and has done a lot of her dirty work behind the scenes. We’ve also learned that in addition to Colman’s character being a major player in Secret Invasion, she’s also set to return in the role in other projects down the road.

We’ve already seen Marvel Studios introduce Julia Louis-Dreyfus‘ Valentina Allegra de Fontaine into the mix of shadowy characters with their own agendas; adding Colman as another master spy with a bit of a European influence (as you know from previous reports, Secret Invasion is doing a lot of location filming in and around the UK) will expand the universe and also make it a little less trustworthy. Secret Invasion should begin principal photography soon and is expected to stream on Disney Plus in 2022.

  • EXCLUSIVE: ‘Daredevil’s Marc Jobst to Direct Netflix’s ‘One Piece’ Pilot Episode

EXCLUSIVE: ‘Daredevil’s Marc Jobst to Direct Netflix’s ‘One Piece’ Pilot Episode

Eiichiro Oda‘s One Piece has recently passed the 1,000 chapter mark and has been going strong since 1997. The journey of a young and ambitious pirate named Monkey D. Luffy spirals into an adventure unlike any other. With the end of its current Wano arc on the horizon, Netflix is trying its hand at bringing this iconic franchise to the west as a live-action adaptation. It’s been quiet since it first was announced in 2017 but picked up some pace a few months ago with the first look at their One Piece logo.

The Critical Order: One Piece: Unlimited Retrospective - East Blue Pt. 2

There are still some questions on the upcoming production and who might bring this series to life. Early on, Steven Madea joined as showrunner alongside Luke Cage writer Matt Owens. We can now exclusively confirm that the series’ pilot episode also has found its director in Daredevil and Black Sails‘ Marc Jobst. He and Owens have some shared history, as the director also worked on the Luke Cage episode from season two titled “Wig Out,” which Owens wrote. His experience with Black Sails, a Starz series that explored the golden age of piracy, is also a great plus. He may have hinted at his involvement back in March in a Q&A with Newcastle University.

The project is currently working under the title “Project Panda,” which seemingly has changed at one point in pre-production as it was teased as “Project Roger” in May. It’s a fun reference to Oda‘s joke character Pandaman that he hides as an easter egg throughout the manga. Production was eyeing an August production start in Cape Town last year but got delayed due to the pandemic. The first season will explore the East Blue saga in ten episodes, as Luffy recruits the first members of the Straw Hat pirates before he sets out into the Grand Line.
