  • Will Poulter Hints at Adam Warlock’s Golden Skin in ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3’

Will Poulter Hints at Adam Warlock’s Golden Skin in ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3’

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.3 is set to begin principal photography. The cast and crew of James Gunn’s space outlaws are currently making their last preparations for productions. With Will Poulter having recently joined the cast as Adam Warlock, there are lots of questions about how he is going to be involved beyond emerging from the cocoon we saw in the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 post-credit scene.  Poulter was on The Jonathan Ross Show promoting his upcoming Hulu miniseries Dopesick, where host and Marvel fan, Jonathan Ross, was on hand to field a variety of questions about Poulter’s MCU character.

The actor was typically evasive as most are as part of their MCU contracts, he jokingly stated that that he is “feared for the safety of his family” because he’s “sworn to secrecy.” After confirming Marvel Studios and James Gunn won’t change the character’s name, Ross was giving him the grilling any Marvel fan would, particularly about whether Warlock will be the gold color of The Sovereign. The actor points out the gold sofa he is sitting on, stating “this is a lovely sofa is what I’ll say” perhaps indicating he will in fact have his traditional gold comic-book appearance. The actor also hinted that he is in the process of buffing up for the project.

Adam Warlock | Character Close Up | Marvel Comic Reading Lists

Whether Warlock remains the superweapon against the Guardians that The Sovereign intends him to be or switches sides as he does in the comics, remains an open question. Also with a few years that have passed between the end of the second film and where we’ll catch up with the Guardians, it is curious to wonder whether we might see Warlock in The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special. Wherever we see Adam Warlock turn up it will be interesting to see what route his story takes in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Will Poulter Excited to Play Adam Warlock in ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3’

With Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 slated to enter production next month, the cast and crew are gearing up to return to James Gunn‘s world of outlaw heroes. Set to join them on this installment is franchise newcomer Will Poulter, who will portray Adam Warlock in the threequel. While Gunn has shared his excitement over Poulter’s casting, the actor has not publicly commented on the casting until now.

In a recent interview with FlipYourWig.net, to promote the Hulu series Dopesick, Poulter showcased his excitement over getting cast in the role. “I feel very, very lucky,” Poulter said. “I’m very honored to have been welcomed into the Marvel family, and particularly into a franchise like Guardians of the Galaxy, which I regard to be incredibly creative and very, very unique. James Gunn is someone I really, really admire so I feel very lucky.”

  • James Gunn Confirms ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3’ Has Finished Casting

James Gunn Confirms ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3’ Has Finished Casting

It feels like fans have been waiting a lifetime for the release of Marvel’s highly anticipated Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. Luckily Chris Pratt teased that production is soon underway in a brief video from set today. Shortly before, Gunn took to Twitter today to reveal that the third installment in his sci-fi trilogy has completed it’s casting process, which supposedly started all the way back in April. The news from Gunn comes on the heels of a big announcement about the casting of Will Poulter as Adam Warlock, a perfect being created by Elizabeth Debicki‘s Ayesha who was teased during the end credits of Vol. 2.

    https://twitter.com/JamesGunn/status/1450460839077625866?s=20

The phrasing of the tweet seems to hint at multiple new additions to the film, presumably on top of Poulter‘s Warlock. It’s unknown who these other new actors are, or who they might be playing, but it’s likely this information will come to light as the start of production quickly approaches. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 will see the return of all the franchise’s major players, including Chris Pratt‘s Star-Lord and Zoe Saldana‘s time displaced Gamora, on the heels of their guest appearance in Taika Waititi‘s Thor: Love and Thunder. The film currently has a release date of May 5, 2023, though it is yet to be seen if that will be impacted by the recent delay of Marvel’s other Phase 4 entries like Doctor Strange In the Multiverse of Madness and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.

Chris Pratt Shares Video From ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3’ Set as Production Starts

James Gunn has actively been teasing the production start for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 throughout the last few weeks. After the casting of Will Poulter as Adam Warlock got announced, it looks like they already entered production. Chris Pratt shared a video from the set through Team Coco’s Twitter account confirming that production has started. Sadly, he doesn’t reveal much, as it’s mainly there to promote a look back at his famous Parks and Recreation character Andy Dwyer. Still, it’s good to know that production has finally kicked off for the long-awaited threequel.

It’s crazy to think how long it took us to get to this moment. After James Gunn left the production due to controversial tweets, the franchise’s future was in jeopardy. Now, the director has seen a resurgence with his work on The Suicide Squad, HBO Max’s Peacemaker series, and the return to the third Guardians of the Galaxy film. Of course, there’s the question if they are already starting work on The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special for Disney+, which was confirmed to shoot simultaneously.

Perhaps, they are currently getting a few specific shots through and then tackling the special throughout the production depending on what actors they require for different scenes. Gunn did tease that we’ll get quite a few special secrets in it, as it also builds into the threequel. As production starts, here’s also the hope we might get a glimpse at the production and what we can expect from the potentially last entry in this franchise.

  • Will Poulter Joins ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3’ as Adam Warlock

Will Poulter Joins ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3’ as Adam Warlock

Here’s a rather curious casting, as James Gunn‘s upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 has found its Adam Warlock. After getting a brief tease in a post-credit sequence in the last entry, Will Poulter will bring the character to life in the upcoming sequel. He’ll join the returning cast of Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Bradley Cooper, Vin Diesel, Karen Gillan, and Pom Klementieff. There have been rumors reported in the past that may have hinted at his inclusion and it seems it came to fruition. Borys Kit added some more information on who was included in the earlier shortlist:

It’s probably the last name one might’ve expected connected to the character, but Poulter has proven he’s got acting chops in the past to take on this role. The plot still remains under wraps, but his inclusion does mean the Sovereign are definitely returning in the sequel. So, we can also expect Elizabeth Debicki to reprise her role. There’s also the question if he might have a first appearance in the upcoming Holiday Special heading to Disney+, which is confirmed to be canon. Still, the confirmation is quite an interesting one as James Gunn publicly discussed a piece by Illuminerdi back in March where he seemed to confirm and deny his inclusion.

Deadline goes on to highlight that Gunn and Marvel Studios have been eyeing an actor since the end of August. They’ve had quite a few auditions, which includes the above-mentioned actors, but Poulter‘s performance put him on top of the list. He’s worked on various projects such as The Revenant and Detroit. Though he’s also had some more TV-oriented projects in the works like Hulu’s Dopesick alongside Michael Keaton and Amazon’s The Underground Railroad.

  • James Gunn Teases Secrets in ‘The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special’

James Gunn Teases Secrets in ‘The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special’

After a long wait, we’re finally getting the third and final entry of the Guardians of the Galaxy trilogy. James Gunn will return to the director’s chair after his time with DC’s The Suicide Squad. The best part, we’re also getting a Disney+ Christmas Special ahead of the third film’s release. Gunn did confirm in July that it’s going to connect with Vol. 3, but it seems some curious secrets will be revealed in the upcoming special.

    https://twitter.com/JamesGunn/status/1441421919199264770?s=19

Of course, he doesn’t reveal what exactly that means, but the special will likely connect Thor: Love and Thunder with the third film. So, we’ll get our first hint a the main plotline that will drive the Guardians on their final journey. The secrets in question might also reference some curious revelations between the team, such as the origin of Rocket. There were some hints that the upcoming threequel will focus on Gamora and Nebula, which could come into play as well.

  • ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3’ to Focus on Gamora and Nebula

‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3’ to Focus on Gamora and Nebula

Even after countless delays, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is still quite a mystery. Director James Gunn has hinted that the story will take a stronger look at Rocket’s secret past that was only briefly given a focus in the first film. Now, it seems there might be a bit more to it as Seth Green, who voices Howard the Duck in the franchise and currently running the What If…? series, revealed that the series will offer a stronger focus on Gamora and Nebula’s story. In the interview with ComicBook.com he shared the following:

I don’t know if Howard’s a part of it, I haven’t heard anything about that. The only thing I know is that it’s the girls’ story, it’s the sisters’ story, that it’s Gamora and Nebula’s story. So I don’t know if it’s a prequel, or if it comes off in the new timeline that’s splintered post-the Time Heist. Honestly, I don’t know anything about it.

    Seth Green

It’s a curious statement as it contradicts the focus on Rocket that was teased by the director. Of course, it’s ending a trilogy and might focus on all members. Guardians Vol. 2 was about Peter Quill meeting his father just as much as it was Gamora and Nebula confronting each other. There’s simply a chance that the core of the story, especially considering it’s not the same Gamora from the MCU’s main timeline, is about finding her for Quill and Nebula.

She now has the chance to take the role her sister did for her when she was lost in the darker side of what their father taught them. In their travels, they may end up getting wrapped up in whatever Rocket’s secret past is. Gunn has always been talented in interweaving multiple storylines that share common themes. We can’t wait to see how this story comes together in 2023.

  • James Gunn Talks Rocket’s Tragic Origins in ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3’

James Gunn Talks Rocket’s Tragic Origins in ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3’

Even if you consider the long delay for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, we still know very little about the final entry of the iconic space opera franchise. James Gunn has dropped some hints here and there, but he gave us an update in an interview with Josh Horowitz on his Happy Sad Confused podcast.

After discussing his turbulent journey into making The Suicide Squad, and the inspiration of starting the first Guardians film, he offered a tiny insight into the emotional core of the franchise that is Rocket Raccoon, and how the threequel will explore his history before the events of the first film.

Well, I think we get to know where Rocket, you know, at the very first movie, we see Rocket take his clothes off. We see those scars on his back. We see that he comes from a place very difficult. To me, me, that’s always been the center of the Guardians. How do you make a raccoon talk and make him real. It sort of ended up being the saddest story of all time.

He also goes on to hint that the story will be quite a sad experience, and it “kills him every time.” Gunn has voiced his love for the character and confirms that we’ll explore his past and where he is from. The other Guardians will get a focus, but it seems that Rocket is at the core of this story. It will end the trilogy that he started back in 2014. Hopefully, these words don’t spell an untimely end for the loveable raccoon with anger issues in the MCU once the film releases.

  • James Gunn Shares First Details on ‘The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special’

James Gunn Shares First Details on ‘The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special’

James Gunn has been busy working on his DC film The Suicide Squad and the HBO Max spin-off, Peacemaker. His next project will finally be his grand return to the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise to end the trilogy he started back in 2014. Marvel Studios even wen one sep above and we’ll get the franchise’s first Holiday Special ahead of the release of the third enry. In an interview with Collider, Gunn offered our first insight into what we can expect from the upcoming film.

It’s in canon. It’s about the Guardians. You’ll learn stuff you’ll need to know ahead of Guardians 3.

It made sense that the storyline would take place in the mainline continuity. We still don’t know if the I Am Groot special will also be part of it, but even the first animated series What If takes place in the multiverse. We might get to explore the history and backstory of the team that might tie directly into the film. Star Wars‘ infamous Holiday Special featured Life Day as the Christmas equivalent for the galaxy far far away. So, we might also learn how the galaxy celebrates it and how they spent it growing up.

He also confirms that they will film the special at the same time as the third entry of the film. Gunn’s team will reuse the same actors and sets. So, they will make use of that during production. It is set to release ahead of the film. So, we might even get some teases of which characters will appear in the threequel. The special won’t be long as he teased it’ll be shorter than 40 minutes. It’ll be interesting to see if other franchises might also join in on the fun in the future.

  • Sylvester Stallone Returning for ‘GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 3’

Sylvester Stallone Returning for ‘GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 3’

Sylvester Stallone’s appearance as Stakar Ogord in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 was a pretty tightly kept secret up until just a few months before the film’s release. Stallone’s Ogord, who was incredibly loosely based on Marvel Comics character Starhawk, an enormously strange and powerful member of both the 31st century and “present day” Guardians of the Galaxy, was a Ravager captain who exiled Yondu after the blue space hillbilly broke the Ravager code by trafficking children. Yondu’s funeral served as an impromptu reunion for Stakar’s old Ravager buddies who decided to reteam and get back to thieving together.

Gunn has always hinted that we’d see more of the Ravagers in the future and now, according to director Randall Emmett, a close personal friend of Stallone, it looks like Stakar (and presumably the rest of the gang) will be back for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. In a Zoom Q&A following a screening of his new film Midnight in the Switchgrass, Emmett revealed that Stallone is working on “the next Expendables and Guardians of the Galaxy.” The threequel is confirmed to begin work in Atlanta this November and is expected to be Gunn’s last go with the franchise, so it’s not surprising that he’ll have the team of Ravagers, including Michael Rosenbaum’s Martinex, Ving Rhames’ Charlie-27, Michelle Yeoh’s Aleta Ogord, Mainframe and Krugarr back to wrap things up.
