  • Kevin Feige Teases Marvel’s Post-‘Secret Wars’ Slate Which Runs Through 2032

Kevin Feige Teases Marvel’s Post-‘Secret Wars’ Slate Which Runs Through 2032

Marvel Studios won’t be making a splash by revealing its upcoming slate in Hall H during SDCC this weekend but that doesn’t mean the powers that be at the studio aren’t working hard on putting it together. As of now, the studio has only scheduled films through 2028, but as always, Marvel Studios’ One Above All, Kevin Feige is kicking the can quite a bit further down the road. “It’s traditionally a five-year plan,” he said. “I think it goes to 2032 right now.

With the studio looking to release between 1 to 3 films a year and having only officially commented on a few projects in the works (Black Panther 3, X-Men and the long-delayed Blade film), that leaves quite a few holes to fill on that new slate. Given the looming success of The Fantastic Four: First Steps, a sequel to that film seems all but a sure thing and there are plenty of other projects that have either been rumored or known to be in development but, as of now, Feige would only offer up a tease of how the studio hopes to return to one of its greatest strengths.

We were talking about a structure of an upcoming post-‘Secret Wars’ movie that I won’t name,” he said during a recent press event. “But I will say, like Shang-Chi, [it’s] getting back to what genre haven’t we done and want to do and how could this movie be that genre? [We would] focus on a singular storyline by embracing a certain genre we haven’t seen in a while. [It’s] remembering what cinema is and what movie going is and what entertaining audiences is,” said the Marvel boss.

While that’s about all he gave away in terms of teasing upcoming projects, Feige did reveal that the seven-year plan will see 2027’s Multiverse Saga finale, Avengers: Secret Wars, “reset” the Marvel Cinematic Universe rather than reboot it.” “Reboot is a scary word,” said Marvel’s Big Cheese. “Reboot can mean a lot of things to a lot of people. Reset, singular timeline — we’re thinking along those lines.”

According to Feige, resetting the MCU means recasting roles, some of which have been filled by beloved actors for more than a decade…or two. “X-Men is where that will happen next,” he revealed while talking about the studio’s upcoming film, which he confirmed will be helmed by Thunderbolts* director Jake Schreier. However, the future won’t just feature new actors as Cyclops and Jean Grey; it will also include the studio eventually recasting the roles of Captain America, Iron Man and Black Panther, among others.

They have been a place to tell stories about young people who feel different and who feel Other and who feel like they don’t belong. That’s the universal story of mutants, and that is where we’re going.

-Kevin Feige on Marvel Studios X-Men

Amy Pascal and David Heyman are now searching for a new James Bond,” said Feige of Sony’s efforts to relaunch the 007 franchise. “David [Corenswet], the new Superman — he was awesome. That will always be the case,” Feige said of seeing new names take over roles from previous stars. “I think it’s hard for anybody to do that when an actor has done such a great role,” he said of replacing actors such as Chris Evans and Robert Downey Jr. in iconic roles before adding. “How are they going to ever replace Sean Connery [as James Bond], right?

It’s interesting that Feige chose to sat down with reporters rather than attempt to thrill fans at SDCC; however, given the major changes to the plans the studio revealed at SDCC ’19 and SDCC ’22, the days of the major slate reveals may be behind Marvel Studios or, at the very least, they’ll be done in much smaller doses. For now, it’s clear that the bulk of the studio’s attention is being directed toward making sure Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars leave fans satiated with the Multiverse Saga before taking yet another step into the unknown in 2028.

  • Kevin Feige Reveals Why Miles Morales Has Yet to Appear in the MCU

Kevin Feige Reveals Why Miles Morales Has Yet to Appear in the MCU

Since first appearing in Marvel Comics Ultimate Fallout #4 in 2011, Miles Morales has become one of Marvel’s most popular and important characters. In addition to becoming a major player for the publisher, Morales is also the centerpiece of both a video game franchise and an animated movie trilogy by Sony, while also appearing in a handful of other animated projects. In less than 15 years, Miles Morales has developed into one of Marvel’s most marketable characters and has popped up everywhere…except in a live-action film.

In 2023, producer Amy Pascal indicated that Sony was developing a live-action Miles Morales feature film and in 2024, Marvel Studios’ Big Cheese, Kevin Feige, shared his hopes that the character would one day appear in a live-action MCU film once the animated Spider-Verse trilogy concluded. Now, in a wide-ranging press event, Feige has revealed why the character has not yet appeared in a Marvel Studios film despite being referenced in Spider-Man: Homecoming.

When asked to update the status of the live-action Morales-centric project, Feige provided a blunt response. “That is nowhere,” he stated, before adding some context.”Sony has their brilliant, genius, incredible Spider-Verse animated franchise going and until that finishes, we’ve been told to stay away,” Feige explained, dampening hopes for the character to make an appearance in next year’s Spider-Man: Brand New Day.

Sony’s Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse, the finale of the Spider-Verse trilogy, will release on June 25, 2027, six months before Marvel Studios wraps up the Multiverse Saga in Avengers: Secret Wars on December 17, 2027. Perhaps coincidentally, both films have seen their release dates changed in the past few months, creating the opportunity for Morales to debut in Avengers: Secret Wars, should Sony and Marvel Studios be able to agree upon a fitting entrance. Given the lengths Marvel has gone to include characters from non-MCU films in the Multiverse Saga and the fact that the Spider-Verse franchise is also rooted in the Multiverse, it’s entirely possible that there’s more than serendipity at work and that a dovetail from the Spider-Verse to Secret Wars may be carved, allowing the popular animated version of the character to enter the live-action fray.

  • New Report Reveals Mephisto’s Next MCU Stop

New Report Reveals Mephisto’s Next MCU Stop

Sacha Baron Cohen‘s secret role in Marvel Television’s Ironheart was one of Hollywood’s worst-kept secrets. Despite efforts to keep the true identity of Cohen‘s “Mystery Man” from leaking, word of the actor portraying the role of Mephisto made its way online in early 2022, more than three years before the Great Corrupter popped up in the Ironheart series finale.

Cohen brilliantly brought Mephisto to life, bringing a superficial graciousness to the character whose only true goal is collecting souls. With major changes to Marvel Studios’ plans between the production and release of Ironheart, fans have been theorizing when–if at all–Mephisto May next appear and it seems as though there may not be an answer.

According to Marvel Studios insider Daniel Richtman, Cohen will step back into the shoes of the Master of Malice in the long-rumored supernatural team-up film, Midnight Sons.

Though Marvel Studios has never officially addressed the property, a Midnight Sons film has been rumored to be in development since 2022, with Werewolf By Night director Michael Giacchino having originally been attached to direct. In 2024, Fede Álvarez‘s name popped up on the radar as a potential director with Logan scribe Michael Green working on a screenplay for Marvel and the studio hoping to fast track the project.

With the studio potentially looking to get Midnight Sons off the ground ahead of the long-troubled Blade reboot, it tracks that they’d be starting to move toward putting together a cast and having Cohen’s Mephisto front and center as a major antagonist is a great start.

  • Marvel Studios Has Reportedly Solved Its Blade Problem

Kevin Feige‘s announcement that Marvel was developing a Blade film with Mahershala Ali on board as the Daywalker was not only the highlight of SDCC ’19 but also one of the studio’s biggest-ever Hall H bombshells. However, six years later, fans are still waiting to see Ali in action as the studio struggles to crack the story. While the studio may well continue to develop the film, a new report claims the character may end up on the big screen in the maybe-sort of-near future.

According to Marvel Studios insider Daniel Richtman, Ali’s Blade will appear in the supernatural ensemble film, Midnight Sons.

Buzz around a Midnight Sons project dates back several years, though the studio has remained mum on the possibility. In February 2024, Richtman reported that Werewolf By Night director Michael Giacchino was lined up to direct the film.

First assembled to battle Lilith in 1992’s Ghost Rider #31, the roster of the Midnight Sons/Midnight Suns team has changed greatly with each iteration though the mission has mostly remained the same: stop supernatural shit from happening on Earth. And that’s where Giachhino fits in.

On the subject of the roster, Richtman also reported that Midnight Sons will feature the MCU’s Ghost Rider, who is rumored to appear in Avengers: Doomsday and possibly played by star Ryan Gosling. Should that work out, a team led by Gosling, Ali and Oscar Isaac‘s Moon Knight would provide plenty of star power to bring audiences to the theater.

  • Sadie Sink’s Latest Rumored ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ Role Could Bring the Spider-Verse into Live-Action

Sadie Sink’s Latest Rumored ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ Role Could Bring the Spider-Verse into Live-Action

Since it was reported that Sadie Sink joined the cast of Spider-Man: Brand New Day in mid-March, rumors have had the actress portraying just about every high-profile female Spidey character from Mary Jane Watson to Mayday Parker and more in between. While Sink has kept quiet about her role, rumors continue to fly, including a new one which could potentially lead to a tie-in with Sony’s successful, animated Spider-Verse franchise.

According to a new rumor from Jeff “The In” Sneider, Sink’s character could be an “alternate-universe Gwen Stacey.” While Sneider didn’t provide any further details or speculation, one interesting possibility–should the rumors be accurate–would be Sink playing the Spider-Woman of Earth-65, as seen in Into the Spider-Verse and Beyond the Spider-Verse.

Voiced by Hailee Steinfeld, Earth-65’s Gwen Stacey is a key character in the Spider-Verse franchise and has gained prominence across multiple Marvel-produced genres.  Sony has been rumored to have interest in bringing some of the more popular Spider-Verse characters into live-action and could be using Spider-Man: Brand New Day, which they co-produce with Marvel Studios, to test the waters with a character whose popularity has already been proven.

By casting an actress of Sink’s caliber, Sony would likely have had something larger than a one-off role in mind. If that’s the case, the Spider-Woman/Spider-Gwen/Ghost Spider version of Gwen Stacey would be a great fit. Should audiences take to Sink’s portrayal of the character, Sony would have the opportunity to use the appearance as a stepping stone to another attempt at producing their own live-action Spider-Man universe, this time with actual Spiders!

  • Ryan Reynolds’ New X-Team Reportedly Revealed…and It Includes the MCU’s Rumored Wolverine

Ryan Reynolds’ New X-Team Reportedly Revealed…and It Includes the MCU’s Rumored Wolverine

Earlier this month, THR broke the news that Ryan Reynolds was “quietly plotting his return” as Deadpool. While the star has made it clear that he believes another solo Deadpool film would be superfluous, it turns out he’s been working toward a script for an MCU-based ensemble film that would include “three or four X-Men characters.” Now, a new rumor from one of social media’s busiest news might have revealed exactly what Reynolds has in mind.

According to My Time To Shine Hello, Reynolds has been writing a script for a potential MCU-set X-Force film that would feature his Deadpool teaming up with Josh Brolin‘s Cable, Hugh Jackman‘s Wolverine and an all-new actor as Storm.

If the new information is accurate, it meshes with a late-2024 report from Marvel Studios insider Daniel Richtman, who claimed that Jackman was set to carry on as the MCU’s Wolverine in the studio’s upcoming Avengers films and beyond.

Like nearly every team in the pages of Marvel Comics, the roster of X-Force has been a revolving door since the team first appeared in 1991. Founded by Cable, X-Force often takes a more proactive, militaristic, and covert approach to dealing with threats to mutantkind, often involving missions that the mainstream X-Men would deem too morally ambiguous or violent. While the X-Men typically strive to protect and integrate mutants peacefully, X-Force is essentially the “black ops” arm of the mutant world.

Introducing multiple X-teams is a must for Marvel Studios as it launches Kevin Feige‘s reported 10-year plan for the massive roster of characters obtained when Disney purchased 21st Century Fox in 2019. By reuniting Reynolds and Jackman, who drove Deadpool & Wolverine to become the highest-grossing R-rated film of all-time, and bringing back Brolin, who certainly made a compelling case to continue on as the Askani’son, whole also introducing a new actress as Storm, the studio would certainly be putting its best foot forward its efforts to provide the new Saga with a strong foundation.

  • New ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ Set Reportedly Reveals the Return of One of the MCU’s Heavy Hitters

New ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ Set Reportedly Reveals the Return of One of the MCU’s Heavy Hitters

Though she wasn’t part of the Marvel Studios’ stunt that revealed 27 members of the cast of Avengers: Doomsday, Brie Larson seems as safe a bet as any to join the cast of the 2026 film. Larson was among 33 additional names Jeff “The In” Sneider reported would be part of the studio’s next wave of reveals and given the ending of The Marvels, that certainly seems a safe bet.

The 2022 Captain Marvel follow-up saw Carol’s best friend’s daughter, Monica Rambeau, stranded on an alternate Earth after helping seal a rift in spacetime. It’s all but a sure thing that Carol will make some effort to find her friend and that sort of inter-dimensional travel can cause some issues. Whatever the case, Carol’s presence in Avengers: Doomsday is a no-brainer and a new report from a trusted insider indicates it won’t be long before Larson is on set.

Following a report from longtime set photographer Atlanta Filming which indicated that a spaceship was being built near the Dark Wood in Windsor in Berkshire, England, insider Daniel Richtman has revealed that the ship will belong to Larson’s Carol Danvers.

While Richtman’s report doesn’t explicitly say it, the ship is likely the Hoopty, Carol’s home in space since 1996. Should the report be accurate–and there’s no reason to believe it is not–Larson will likely be joining the cast in the UK soon.

As one of the heaviest hitters in the MCU–if not the heaviest–Danvers will certainly prove invaluable as the mightiest  heroes of Earth-616 take on Doctor Doom and, perhaps, the X-Men of Earth-1005.

Avengers: Doomsday is now in production and will be released on December 18, 2026.

  • The Hulk’s ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ Role Reportedly Revealed

The Hulk’s ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ Role Reportedly Revealed

The news that Spider-Man: Brand New Day will feature Mark Ruffalo in a “substantial role” has generated some serious hype for the 2026 film. After years of rumors about the film’s potential plot and cast, fans seem to believe that Bruce Banner to finally meeting up with Spider-Man after nearly a decade of them failing to cross one another’s paths is a recipe for success. Now, a new rumor sprinkles even more spice into the mix.

According to a pair of rumors making their way around, Ruffalo‘s Hulk will serve as the main villain of Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Though it’s unclear why, the rumors suggest the Savage Hulk will return and that the showdown between him and Spider-Man will be central to marketing the film.

With one part of the rumor reportedly stemming from a conversation with Chris Higashi, an entertainment journalist who claimed that Boomerang, Scorpion and Tombstone were revealed as part of Spider-Man: Brand New Day at the recent Disney Blockbuster Consumer Products presentation, also comes word that Tarantula will have a role in the film as well.

Although the timing of these recent rumors can and should be questioned, fans have already begun to theorize what might cause Banner to revert to the Savage Hulk, and that the film will launch the MCU’s long-rumored World War Hulk project. With the film not set to hit theaters until July 31, 2026, expect plenty more rumors like these to emerge, and keep in mind that multiple reputable insiders leaked accurate information about Spider-Man: No Way Home that was initially disregarded until the film’s release.

  • ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ Adds a Pair of MCU Vets to Its Cast

‘Avengers: Doomsday’ Adds a Pair of MCU Vets to Its Cast

Despite having its release date significantly delayed, Marvel Studios Avengers: Doomsday is deep into production. While there have been plenty of looks at a set that seems to show a downed Sentinel and a video taken by a fan who was able to sneak onto the studio lot, MCU fans are still waiting to catch a glimpse at some behind-the-scenes action. With the studio supposedly taking measures to keep prying eyes away from the action, those glimpses may be hard to come by; however, set photos and videos aren’t the only way to glean information about projects in production.

As the cast of Avengers: Doomsday prepares to film on location in Bahrain, actress Mabel Cadena and actor Alex Livinalli, who played Namor and Attuma, respectively, in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, were spotted at dinner with other members of the cast.

With Anthony Mackie, Letitia Wright, Tenoch Huerta, Danny Ramirez, Simu Liu, Winston Duke and Hannah John-Kamen in Bahrain along with Cadena and Livinalli, it seems as though the Avengers will be turning to the Wakanda-Talokanil alliance for some assistance in solving the “space crisis” teased in Thunderbolts*.

Bahrain’s unique location and architecture have fans theorizing that the capital of Manama could be used as a stand-in for Madripoor, which is believed to be visited in the film.

While fans wait for another large-scale casting announcement, the returns of Cadena and Livinalli serve as a good reminder of just how large the scope and scale of Avengers: Doomsday will be. In addition to the rumored 60 “stars”, there will be plenty of other additions to the cast as the inhabitants of Earth-616 learn what’s coming their way.

  • Marvel Studios Shifts Release Dates for Next Two ‘Avengers’ Movies

Marvel Studios Shifts Release Dates for Next Two ‘Avengers’ Movies

On Thursday evening, Marvel Studios announced that the next two Avengers movies have been delayed. Avengers: Doomsday, which is currently in production, was initially meant to be released on May 1, 2026. Instead, the movie will now open on December 18, 2026. While Avengers: Secret Wars has been delayed to December 17, 2027 from its original release date of May 7, 2027.

While it isn’t entirely clear why the films were moved, it’s suspected that the delay is to help production. Both Doomsday and Secret Wars are huge production for Marvel Studios, and the move comes as the studio is keen on putting its focus back on quality over quantity. Thunderbolts*, which was well received among critics and fans alike, is the first step in the right direction for the Marvel Cinematic Universe after suffering a few recent missteps. Previously, Marvel Studios has often scheduled releases a year out from the start of production, leaving little room for era both with the production and visual effects. The slight delays should prove beneficial for both titles, especially given the large cast expected in both films.

Joe and Anthony Russo, the directing duo behind some of Marvel Studios’ biggest hits, return to helm the next two Avengers installments. Production kicked off on Doomsday back in April, following Marvel Studios’ cast reveal via use of set chairs. While Marvel Studios has yet to unveil any official footage from the film, it was revealed that the first official look at Robert Downey Jr. as Doom was unveiled during the recent Disney Blockbuster Consumer Products show.
