  • New ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ Storyboard Reveals Mysterio’s Original Role

New ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ Storyboard Reveals Mysterio’s Original Role

Spider-Man: No Way Home may have gone through some of the most changes throughout its production. A multiverse storyline featuring former Spider-Man villains was strongly dependent on actor availability that could make the film work. Plus, some may have only joined later in the pre-production schedule which may have also led to many last-minute changes to make it work.

Somehow the film still managed to pull it off and offer a nostalgic but very personal storyline about loss. Storyboard artist Phil Langone has shared a new storyboard from the film’s earliest days that reveals Jake Gyllenhaal‘s Mysterio originally had a role in the film. It seems that he was going to be responsible for the death of Aunt May, which would eventually carry over to Willem Dafoe‘s Green Goblin in the final product.

The mention of “one of” further hints that there may have been quite a few more different potential scenarios on how this sequence came to be. There’s also a chance that they were creating different scenarios to ensure that not every detail would manage to leak online, as the film was surrounded by quite a few leaks building up to its release.

Still, there’s a lot of potential for knowing that there are plans for Mysterio potentially to return. Of course, this could’ve also been a version from another dimension, as it would’ve been fun to see Sam Raimi‘s original vision for the character with Bruce Campbell in the role. Perhaps we’ll see if some concepts return in the inevitable fourth entry.

  • ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’s Matt Murdock Gets a New Funko

‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’s Matt Murdock Gets a New Funko

Spider-Man: No Way Home was a major release back in 2020, as it not only brought back one of Marvel’s most iconic characters to the silver screen but also acted as a gateway into the multiverse storyline of the new Marvel Cinematic Universe saga. Yet, the film managed to be so much more than that with some great performances from the MCU characters and those that made their grand return from past entries of the many iterations this franchise has seen.

Somehow, in a film with Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire, it does seem like the return of Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock stole the show. Not only was it the first time the actor made his cinematic appearance but it also finally added some weight to the Netflix series happening. It seems the character is going to make a return ahead of his new Disney+ series, as a new Funko has been unveiled for the character inspired by his look in the film.

Matt Murdock always had a signature style and it’s great to see the love put into bringing his Funko to life. It’s not the first one from Cox‘s version of the character but it’s still something fans will definitely want to get their hands on. It’s also interesting that a whole line of new figurines is coming out from Spider-Man: No Way Home, especially for those that haven’t gotten one due to Sony trying its best to stay tight-lipped on their appearance in the film. The Funko is a limited edition over at Entertainment Earth so get it while its hot.

  • New ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ Storyboard Reveals Vulture in Scrapped Finale

New ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ Storyboard Reveals Vulture in Scrapped Finale

It’s not new that Marvel Studios’ productions go through a variety of changes. Not only do they rewrite the scripts before production starts, but they aren’t strangers to also adapting on the fly if necessary. That especially became a necessity during COVID, as the pandemic didn’t make it easy for any production to stay on schedule or even remain in its original slot, forcing it to adapt story elements to adhere to the bigger Marvel Cinematic Universe.

In the case of Spider-Man: No Way Home, we always wondered just how much was changed throughout production, especially with the inclusion of a variety of actors from legacy projects. There was one aspect that stood out from No Way Home and that was the lack of any villains representing Tom Holland‘s Spider-Man. As it turns out, Storyboard artist Phil Langone shared a drawing from one of the finales that seemingly includes Michael Keaton‘s Vulture as part of the ensemble.

It was always funny how the film had the opportunity to establish the Sinister Six but ended up short one member. Perhaps during or before production started, they simply couldn’t get the version of the story together as they intended. Perhaps Keaton wasn’t available for the film, as he did end up reprising the role in Morbius. Whatever the case might be, we’re sadly stuck with what could’ve been off seeing a fully formed Sinister Six and the return of a great villain. Perhaps a future project could see his long-awaited return.

  • RUMOR: New ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ Funkos to Include All 3 Spideys

RUMOR: New ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ Funkos to Include All 3 Spideys

Sony probably was quite excited when they saw the hype surrounding the return of Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire in Spider-Man: No Way Home. They were fan favorites for a reason and if they didn’t have to keep it a secret, the marketing executives probably would’ve been quite happy to get merchandise ready just in time to bank on that hype. Yet, the wait was a long one for anything related to the two characters.

Luckily, there’s a chance that Funko Pop collectors might be able to get their hands on Peter 2 and Peter 3, as @mariobros612TWT has shared that a new line of Funko’s from that film is going to get released. These will feature some exclusives but it does seem like all three Spider-Men are getting their own Funkos alongside Green Goblin with a pumpkin bomb.

It’s hilarious that Ned Leeds is also getting his own Funko just for the few seconds the Cloak of Levitation helped him out, but it feels perfect for those that want something a little unexpected in their collection. It’s great to see some additional Funkos in production and if they had these planned for the initial premiere, they’d likely have leaked early on confirming the many rumors already making the rounds.

  • REPORT: ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ Re-Release May Replace ‘Doctor Strange 2’ Post-Credit Scene

REPORT: ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ Re-Release May Replace ‘Doctor Strange 2’ Post-Credit Scene

Spider-Man: No Way Home is returning to theaters with a new re-release version that includes a variety of new scenes that were cut from the original. There’s been no word on just how much it may affect the film, but we’ve got a few teases of what may have been added in. With it heading our way in just a few days, potentially going to compete with Top Gun: Maverick for the top spot this weekend, it seems leaks have already made their way online teasing what may have been added.

According to a Reddit post as shared by The Direct, the upcoming re-release will include a completely new post-credit sequence that replaces Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness sequence. It seems that this one might clear up some confusion on just how exactly the spell works that Strange conjures at the end of the film. While it was hinted that the world would forget who Peter Parker is, we never really got to see that brought to life besides the brief exchange with MJ. It kept many wondering if he’d still be in photos but no one could really remember who he is.

Well, the new post-credit sequence would showcase Betty sharing her last news segment before graduating, which would include pictures from their previous adventures. The one key difference is that Peter Parker is not seen in any of them, such as the Decathlon from Spider-man: Homecoming and Far From Home‘s Europe trip. So, it clears up just how the entire world would truly forget who Peter Parker is and also highlight how

  • ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ Re-Release Includes 11 Minutes of New Footage

‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ Re-Release Includes 11 Minutes of New Footage

It’s been a while since we first heard that the upcoming re-release of Spider-Man: No Way Home would include brand new footage. There was some controversy on this move, as many expected it as part of the Blu-ray release that was marketed quite heavily given the film’s box office success. Now, Fandango’s Erik Davis has revealed that the upcoming re-release will include 11 minutes of new footage. Tickets are expected to go on sale this Tuesday.

The film still stands at an amazing $1.8B and with this re-release, it may be Sony’s chance to get closer to that $2B. Domestically, it also pulled in $804M with only Top Gun: Maverick being the only release that can rival it in any way currently. We’ll see if this new footage is just the thing to pull in an audience besides just hardcore fans but with pre-release tickets on the horizon, we may even get a number hinting at where the film will stand.

No Way Home is definitely the film that found the perfect balance between nostalgia and strong storytelling. The return of Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire was handled in a way that not many projects can, which also added a lot to the project’s emotional core. Tom Holland gave his best performance in his MCU career and it’ll be exciting what else he might do in the future.

  • Jamie Foxx Reflects On Almost Spoiling ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’

Jamie Foxx Reflects On Almost Spoiling ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’

The release of Spider-Man: No Way Home was shrouded in studio secrecy. Multiple major characters were returning from previous films, including all three live-action Spider-Men, and the information was being kept under heavy wraps. However, despite the studio’s best efforts, rumors about a multiversal team-up taking place in the film were making the rounds almost from day one. This was in huge part because, very early in the production process, Jamie Foxx announced his own return to the franchise as the villain Electro, with an Instagram post that included an image of more than one Spider-Man.

The post was quickly deleted, but the damage was irreparable. Foxx’s social media became ground zero for a storm of theories and Internet whispers that were ultimately mostly correct. Speaking with CinemaBlend about the incident nearly two years later, the actor admits he made a mistake in almost blowing Sony’s cover:

It was crazy. It was like a- it was like a rock concert, when we did that film. And I thought Sony did a fantastic job of mystique. You know what I’m saying? Holding things, keeping things – you know, I kind of almost blew it… But I think they did a great job in doing that, bringing some mystique. And I think that that’s what was needed to get people back in the theater.

    Jamie Foxx

Foxx also commented on what it was like to see Tom HollandAndrew Garfield, and Tobey Maguire suited up together for the first time. The excitement of the moment almost made the Django Unchained star “blow it” again, until someone else on set put a stop to what could have been the most infamous spoiler in film history:

As soon as I got on the set and there was all three Spider-Mans, I was like this (picks up cell phone). ’Oh, we up in here, baby, ‘bout to go live…’ And somebody just dove on me like I was a fire. I was like, ‘What the hell?’ ‘Shh! No one’s supposed to know.’ ‘Okay, my bad. Okay, we ain’t supposed to know that all three of them are here!’

    Jamie Foxx

Holland is well-known for his history of spoiling, but it looks like he wasn’t the one Sony should have been worried about. Now that the secret is out, however, fans can experience all the thrilling action again in Spider-Man: No Way Home – The More Fun Stuff Version, an extended cut of the film that hits theaters on September 1st.

  • New ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ Concept Art Offers Closer Look at Green Goblin’s MCU Design

New ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ Concept Art Offers Closer Look at Green Goblin’s MCU Design

There’s always something fun about getting a look behind the scenes on projects. Marvel Studios goes through quite a few concepts and ideas as they finalize whatever design they are trying to nail for the adaptation of a popular character from Marvel comics to live-action. In a new batch by artist Phil Saunders gives us a good look at the updated designs for Norman Osborn’s Green Goblin.

Willem Dafoe was a fantastic addition o the cast and gave us one of his best performances as the iconic character. While he doesn’t get a fully realized costume from the comics, they play around with a concept that feels like the perfect middle blend of his original Spider-Man costume with some updated design choices. Here’s an image of him on his glider:

And another gives us a detailed look at the design, such as how damaged parts of his suit are covered with wrappings from the former purple hoodie that would add that final comic-accurate touch from the comics.

the design definitely might go down as one of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s best, especially given the ties to nostalgia for many that grew up with the original Spider-Man films by Sam Raimi. It was an experience to see some iconic villains return alongside former Spider-Men and it might not be something that could be so easily replicated dueto just how special this franchise is. We’ll see if perhaps Avengers: Secret Wars brings back some familiar faces.

  • Sam Raimi on How ‘WandaVision’ and ‘No Way Home’ Impacted ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’ Production

Sam Raimi on How ‘WandaVision’ and ‘No Way Home’ Impacted ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’ Production

COVID has made quite a mess out of many things, and a franchise that builds upon itself being shifted around willy-nilly may have faced many more consequences than it initially expected. We’ve heard in the past that the release schedules between Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and Spider-Man: No Way Home ended up forcing their hand to rewrite both projects to better fit the overarching narrative. Still, it made many wonders how that exactly impacted the production.

In a lengthy interview with Rolling Stone, director Sam Raimi got a chance to sit down and talk bout his experience working with Marvel Studios and within the MCU playbox. He has already praised the work in the past and is even open to returning for a future project. Yet, he also highlighted how the pandemic’s influence on two interconnected releases, previously-mentioned No Way Home and the Disney+ series WandaVision, impacted the writing process.

Yes, it was all on the fly. “Now this is happening. Now that’s happening.” It was a fun juggling game. I guess it must be like that for all of the directors and writers of these very big Marvel properties that now have a long history. It was a very chaotic, wonderful, creative — I don’t want to use the word “mess,” because that’s unfair — but it was just a cascade of ideas. We’d take the best ones and quickly weave together the fabric of this universe. It was very exciting, actually.

    Sam Raimi

In a way, it sounds like they were able to weave their story even with the “cascade of ideas” weaving out of these projects. One has to admire the work these creatives go through to bring an entire franchise to life and the way Raimi is praising it sounds like it helped them become even more creative. It seems that WandaVision also only became a factor during the writing process, as that series was also facing changes and delays due to COVID.

I’m not really sure what the WandaVision schedule was or how it changed. I just know that halfway, or maybe three-quarters of the way into our writing process, I’d first heard of this show they were doing and that we would have to follow it. Therefore, we had to really study what WandaVision was doing, so we could have a proper through line and character-growth dynamic. I never even saw all of WandaVision; I’ve just seen key moments of some episodes that I was told directly impact our storyline.

    Sam Raimi

As he highlights, things changed a lot behind-the-scenes and it’s to be expected when any projects are currently in development,w which also influence each other on a character and story basis. Raimi highlighted that these changes created a potential for creativity, which highlights a core aspect of these story elements. He highlights that he was heavily involved with the writing process alongside Loki‘s Michael Waldron and it makes the exciting prospect of what story they ended up within that playfield

  • ‘The Batman’ Digital Release Ends ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ Five-Week Dominance

‘The Batman’ Digital Release Ends ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ Five-Week Dominance

It looks like Spider-Man: No Way Home’s reign of the digital market has now also slowly come to an end. After dominating the top position for five weeks in a row, it has now been toppled to the third spot. The Batman has now taken the top spot of Vudu’s home entertainment chart, as shared by Fandango’s Erik Davis. There have been hints that the latest DC film has also been a massive player over at HBO Max, where the film landed not too long ago.

It’s no surprise that the film would dominate as much as it did, especially with the fanfare it received upon its release. The 3-hour film is also perfect for those that wanted to break it up into pieces and were a bit shy about checking it out by spending that much time in a theater. Families with kids definitely used the chance to finally catch up on it, as they could also watch it in installments. It’ll be interesting to see how long it’ll hold on to that top spot moving forward.

Dog joining at the second pot is an interesting addition, as the Channing Tatum film did manage to get quite an audience upon its release. Sing 2 is the only other film to hold on as long as Spider-Man did in the top ten. Jackass Forever is a fitting strong performer for home releases, especially with its level of absurdity being perfect for those not sure what to watch.
