  • ‘Fast X’ Heading for a Soft $66M Opening Weekend with a B+ CinemaScore

‘Fast X’ Heading for a Soft $66M Opening Weekend with a B+ CinemaScore

It’s looking more and more like blockbuster fatigue is showing its fangs, as even the latest entry of the Fast & Furious franchise, Fast X, is kicking off its domestic run softly. Louis Leterrier is directing the latest entry in the franchise that came in with a soft B+, which means the action hit is getting some mixed reviews from audiences. It’s the same grade that F9 got previously during the pandemic but it’ll be curious to keep an eye on what this means for its box office.

The film took in $27.5M and is currently 8% behind F9. With a B+ score, it seems like the film is likely going to roll out around $66M over the weekend. That of course isn’t great with Vin Diesel recently trying to promote that he’s decided they’ll spin out a trilogy out of Fast X, which originally was setting up the final entry to the franchise. It’s hard to say if the two-year wait and the overall soft embrace of the previous entry may have played a key factor in its box office.

Outside of Super Mario Bros. Movie and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, big releases have been struggling a bit this year. The latter is also showing another stronghold with a 46% drop even going up against this direct competition from Universal. Mid-budget investments have performed better than expected in April as people were preparing for the summer, but perhaps we’re about to face an average 100M opening moving forward with the franchise going above or below depending on the marketing push behind, as even former franchise giant, Transformers: Rise of the Beasts, is only projecting around a $40M opening weekend.

  • Vin Diesel Seemingly Confirms ‘Fast X’ as First Part of a Trilogy

Vin Diesel Seemingly Confirms ‘Fast X’ as First Part of a Trilogy

You can always count on Vin Diesel’s enthusiasm to keep a franchise going even as everyone else expects it to wrap up. Originally, The Fast Saga was announced to wrap up with its upcoming eleventh film as production started on Fast X which would set up the final entry. There has been speculation these two films are more of a “Part 1” and “Part 2” deal, but it seems that Diesel has expanded upon his idea.

On the red carpet for Fast X, the franchise’s main star has seemingly confirmed that the last entry is no longer setting up the final part but rather is the first of a three-part finale. So, it seems we are getting a trilogy to wrap up the mainline Fast Saga even if there’s a good chance he may just expand upon it if this is his way of promoting a new entry into the car-driven action franchise.

It’s certainly a bizarre move as they made quite a big deal out of wrapping it up with these upcoming two films. There’s no word if director Louis Letterier will also return for the sequels after the fallout that occurred on production with original Fast X director Justin Lin. The film already has to make up a lot of money for the delays that occurred due to Lin’s exit and who knows how long this franchise will keep the engine going.

  • “No Conversations” on a Potential Sequel to the ‘Fast and Furious’ Spinoff ‘Hobbs and Shaw’

“No Conversations” on a Potential Sequel to the ‘Fast and Furious’ Spinoff ‘Hobbs and Shaw’

Fast and Furious, or also known as the Fast Saga, has been coming to an end but there’s a lot of expectations of more future entries on the project. Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw was the first attempt with Jason Statham and Dwayne Johnson taking on the leading roles this time around. Yet, due to quite a bit of drama Johnson has seemingly left the entire franchise behind and it seems that producer Kelly McCormick doesn’t have any motivating words to add in regards to the future of this spinoff.

While promoting the upcoming Violent Night film, she confirmed that while they’d be all-in for a new entry, “there’s no conversations at this time” as confirmed by McCormick. With one of its leading stars out of the picture, it’s not too surprising but Statham is a household name and could easily carry on the franchise with a new addition replacing Johnson as the new co-lead. She goes on to highlight that it was meant to set up more stories in this universe, especially with Ryan Reynolds and Kevin Hart joining in the spinoff.

I do feel like there were a lot of seeds planted to try to create a spinoff in a way that included a Kevin Hart and a Ryan Reynolds and sort of all that kind of stuff. And that was intentional but not necessarily because we had plans in mind just because it would be fun to have different players for them to play with if anybody or we wanted to go for it in a different way. So, you know, I don’t know, I mean Dwayne’s a really busy guy and you know, he would be the one to motivate all of that. So, you know, we’re ready if he wants to and until then he’s just dominating so all power to him.

For now, it seems that the future of the Fast Saga will be on hold, or they’ll start pitching ideas as soon as the final film starts rolling towards cinemas. Perhaps we’ll enter the next Saga for the franchise with the Furious Saga.

  • Daniela Melchior Teases “Epic” ‘Fast X’ With New BTS Video

Daniela Melchior Teases “Epic” ‘Fast X’ With New BTS Video

the latest entry in The Fast Saga has been going through quite the rough patch after director Justin Lin left production just as it was getting started. Rumors had pointed to what was the cause, especially with internal strife in regards to its main star Vin Diesel, but they swiftly added Louis Leterrier to pick up the pieces.

We haven’t heard much since on how the project is progressing, but things have seemingly died down quite a bit. That was until actress Daniela Melchior took to Twitter to share a video from the ongoing production. It doesn’t show much outside of a shot of her driving, as she jokingly points out she can’t really share more but wanted to let everyone know that “Fast X is gonna be EPIC.”

It’s great to see that production has not slowed down since Leterrier joined the production, as there were hints that every day without a director costs the production teams millions. It’ll be interesting to see how much pressure will be on the film to pull at the box office, especially as Lin was originally also going to direct its sequel and final entry in The Fast Saga.

Melchior has been swiftly making her mark in Hollywood after a kickstart with her work on The Suicide Squad. Joining a franchise as big as The Fast Saga was that extra push she needed and we’ll likely see a lot more of her in the future. It’ll be interesting to see what role she has in Fast X and if she might also return for the sequel as well.
