    Jude Law Teases a “Glorious Ending” to ‘Skeleton Crew’

    Lucasfilm’s upcoming Star Wars streaming series, Skeleton Crew, sets out to do something that’s rarely been done in nearly 50 years of storytelling set in a galaxy far, far away: chronicle an adventure from the perspective of a child. Outside of the exploration of Anakin Skywalker’s youth in Star Wars: Episode I-The Phantom Menace, live-action Star Wars projects have always been about adults. Given that The Creator has said that he developed Star Wars FOR kids, it’s especially strange that more projects haven’t featured them.

    It was supposed to be a kid’s movie for 12-year-olds that were going through puberty, who don’t know what they’re doing, and are asking all the big questions: “What should I be worried about? What’s important in life?” And Star Wars has all those things in there. They’re buried in there but you definitely get it, especially if you’re young.

    According to star Jude Law, part of the charm of the eight-episode series is seeing the four young leads exploring that “Star Wars environment.” Skeleton Crew co-creators Jon Watts and Christopher Ford have built out a corner of the Star Wars galaxy that star Law calls “a fun place to be” as well as “thrilling and very, very unique” while also honoring the projects that came before. And it sounds as though before the series finale hits, part of the homage to George Lucas‘ original work is a heavy dose of surprising revelations.

    In an interview with Collider, Law teased that his character, Jod Na Nawood, is a bit of a mystery and one that Watts and Ford were in no hurry to unravel. In fact, according to Law, the true nature of his character isn’t revealed until the penultimate episode, which he calls his favorite.

    “I’ve only seen them through once, so that’s quite a hard question for me,” said Law when asked by Collider which episode he enjoyed the most. “I think it’s [Episode] 7 because so much comes to a head, and you find out an awful lot very quickly about my character.”

    “It’s not that it’s all about me, but, by doing that, it pushes the relationship with the kids to a whole new level,” said Law of impact the reveal of his character’s true identity will have.

    Star Wars: Skeleton Crew follows the journey of four kids who make a mysterious discovery on their seemingly safe home planet, then get lost in a strange and dangerous galaxy. Finding their way home—and meeting unlikely allies and enemies—will be a greater adventure than they ever imagined.

    Set during the same New Republic time period as The Mandalorian and Ahsoka, it’s still unclear just how big of an impact Skeleton Crew will have on the overarching narrative those projects share. Whether the events of the project will lead to a second season or will have a major impact on Dave Filoni‘s New Republic era film isn’t clear at this point; however, Law is confident that fans will like what they see when the series debuts on December 2nd.

    “They’ll want more. That’s what they’ll say,” said Law of his expectations of how fans will receive the series. “They’ll say, ‘When can I get more of this?’ I think they’ll be confounded, and kind of, I hope, a little bit upset. But it’s also obviously got a kind of Star Wars glorious ending to it, too. But there are layers. A lot happens and a lot is revealed.”

    DC Studios Streaming Project Gets Frustrating Update

    Over the past several weeks, DC Studios co-chair James Gunn has made it clear that the relatively newly formed production company has one very important guiding principle: no DCU project is given the green light until a finished script has been turned in. As a result, some projects that were not part of the studio’s original list of upcoming projects have moved ahead of those that were. For example, Luca Guadagnino‘s Sgt. Rock film seems to have far more momentum at the moment than the studio’s first Batman and Robin story, The Brave and the Bold.

    Whether it’s a lesson learned from his time at Marvel Studios, one he’s learned since announcing a slate of 10 DCU projects that has already seen it’s order rearranged or a combination of the two, it’s something that’s clearly important to Gunn and will ultimately cause less consternation and confusion among fans.

    Perhaps the best example of how quickly even the best laid plans can change is the Viola Davis-led streaming series, Waller. Originally announced as the project set to follow Creature Commandos and planned to take place between Seasons 1 and 2 of Peacemaker, progress on Waller was slowed significantly in 2023 by a pair of protracted work stoppages in Hollywood. As a result, Season 2 of Peacemaker, which recently completed principal photography, jumped up in line while work continued on Waller.

    Like Peacemaker, the idea of Waller, a spinoff of Gunn’s 2021 film The Suicide Squad, predates the existence of the all-new DCU. In development since 2022, Waller is being written by Christal Henry (Watchmen) and Jeremy Carver (Supernatural, Doom Patrol). Gunn has said the series “won’t be as much a comedy as Peacemaker” while adding that it is “really fantastic and HBO loves it.”

    While the series obviously hasn’t been completely cast with no firm production start innsight, a few key characters will make their returns beside Davis’ Amanda Waller. One of those will be Steve Agee‘s A.R.G.U.S. agent John Economos, who played a key role in Season 1 of Peacemaker and will make an appearance in Creature Commandos. While promoting the latter in an interview with Screen Rant, Agee updated the progress on Waller.

    “I think they’re still doing scripts, so there’s no set time yet, and James won’t start something until he’s absolutely happy with the scripts and they’re they’re ready to go,” explained Agee. “So once they’re ready, I’m sure he’ll announce a start time – as an actor who loves to work, it can’t happen soon enough, though, for me!“

    And so a project once on track for a 2025 release date is currently undated and, as of now, still being written. While there’s no doubt that Waller will eventually make its way to HBO, it stands as a great example of why, moving forward, Gunn has decided to keep projects under wraps, at least officially, until they’re ready to roll.

    Marvel Studios Reportedly Moving Forward with a Second Season of One of Its Highest Rated Streaming Series

    The first three years of Marvel Studios foray into live-action streaming television were marked with highs, lows, hits, misses, many memorable moments and others that were entirely forgettable. Many of the shortcomings of the first wave of series (WandaVision, Season 1 of Loki and The Falcon and The Winter Soldier) could easily be attributed to the studio navigating in uncharted waters while also dealing with the uncertainty of the impact made on Hollywood productions by the global COVID-19 pandemic. While the first three series all began production ahead of the worldwide shutdown, principal photography on the fourth D+ series, Hawkeye, which had already faced delays in getting started, kicked off in New York City nearly five months late.

    Delays be damned, the Clint Barton and Kate Bishop team up turned out to be well worth the wait. One of Marvel Studios most complete and consistent streaming series, Hawkeye also stands as the second-highest rated D+ production, boasting a 92% Fresh rating. Though the six-episode season put a bow on Clint and Kate’s first adventure, director Rhys Thomas teased the possibility of a second season. Earlier this year, rumors began to swirl that the studio had ordered up a second season of the series and now a new report provides some details about a potential timeline for its arrival on D+.

    I cannot speak to future plans in the tradition of secrecy. Again, the show coming out, you never know how it’s going to be received and it has been amazing to see how warmly people have taken it and enjoyed it. And it’s been great to see Hailee’s character embraced and sort of land so firmly in the MCU. I sincerely look forward to where that character goes next. And yes, I loved walking on the streets of the MCU and would gladly enjoy doing it again.

    According to MCU insider Daniel Richtman, Marvel Television is targeting a Fall 2025 start of production for Season 2 of Hawkeye with an eye on a late 2026 or late 2027 release.

    A second season would mark the return of Renner to the role for the first time since a near-fatal accident in 2023. Outside of Renner and Steinfeld, the original rumor provided no information on the potential return of other characters from the first season of Hawkeye. However, given the positive fan response to his character, Jack Duquesne, it would be surprising if Tony Dalton was not approached about reprising the role.

    Though Richtman’s new report didn’t touch on the potential premise of Season 2, the original rumblings indicated that the new episodes will take inspiration from the 2011 movie The Raid and see the Hawkeyes pinned down in “one location.” Additionally, Clint’s brother, Barney Barton, was rumored the bet set up to play a “major role” in the sophomore season.

    ‘Andor’ Creator Reveals Scrapped Plans for D+ Series

    Lucasfilm’s D+ streaming series Andor was an immediate and improbable hit for the studio. Though Rogue One was relatively well-received when it hit theaters in 2016, it didn’t seem to fit the mold of the type of project either the studio heads or fans would be looking to explore further. As a direct prequel to Star Wars: Episode IV-A New Hope, Rogue One told the story of a group of Rebels willing to give it all to see the Death Star destroyed. They all died. We know what happens next. The end. Except it wasn’t and the galaxy far, far away is all the better for it.

    Following the anxiety-inducing Season 1 finale, Star Wars fans have been patiently awaiting the arrival of the second season of Andor.  With the recent announcement of its April 2025 release, Lucasfilm has already started what’s sure to be an all-out publicity blitz for the sophomore season which will flesh out the title character’s rise as one of the Galaxy’s most important revolutionaries. However, as fans prepare for the final 12 episodes, creator Tony Gilroy made a shocking admission about his original plans for the series.

    Andor, the acclaimed thriller, returns for its long-awaited conclusion. The twelve episodes of Season Two will carry the story of Cassian Andor and the emerging rebel alliance over the climactic four years that lead to the discovery of The Death Star and the events of Rogue  One. Season One followed Cassian’s reluctant journey from cynical nobody to revolutionary volunteer. Andor Season Two will see him transform from soldier to leader to hero on the way to his epic destiny. From the very first scene, Cassian’s story has activated an ever-widening ensemble of allies and enemies. Season Two will see these relationships intensify as the horizon of galactic war draws near. Everyone will be tested and, as the stakes rise, the betrayals, sacrifices and conflicting agendas will become profound. Who will live to see their dream realized? Who will realize what that dream cost?

    While discussing the second and final season of the streaming series with Empire, Gilroy revealed that he originally conceived of Andor as a five-season run consisting of 60 total episodes.

    Though Gilroy pitched Andor to Lucasfilm as a five-season series, it didn’t take long for him to realize he needed to reconsider. Gilroy explained to Empire that during the point in production on Season 1 where he started to think ahead to Season 2, the enormity of what he was planning to undertake hit him. “Oh my God, we are going to have to come up with another 12 hours of story?” he recalled thinking before realizing that another 36 hours would have to come after that. “So I was already panicked,” Gilroy shared. “We already said we were going to do five years, that was the concept. How do you get out of that?“

    The solution, which crystalized while Gilroy and series star Diego Luna discussed “how fucked” they were, was to turn the second season into years 2 through 5 of the original plan. To do so, the season was shot in four blocks of three episodes each, each covering one year until they catch up to Rogue One‘s opening scene. “There’s no mystery about where we are going,” said Gilroy. “We are going to end up on that walk out to the ship with K-2 and go to the Rings of Kafrene and start Rogue One.”

    Though Andor‘s endpoint is known and plenty of familiar faces from Rogue One are set to appear in Season 2, the final 12 hours of the series may be the most anticipated content set in the galaxy far, far away in a long, long time. Andor: A Star Wars Story will premiere on Disney Plus on April 22, 2025.

    James Gunn Adds Two Previous DC Projects to the New DCU Timeline, Confusing Dozens

    Before it even begins, the new DCU is causing confusion among fans. Set to kick off on December 5th with the animated Max streaming series Creature Commandos, DC Studios’ new attempt to bring the characters and stories of DC Comics to life already has quite a few projects lined up for fans over the next few years. However, according to DC Studios’ co-chair James Gunn, a pair of projects that were relased prior to the creation of the studio should be considered canon, too…kind of…for the most part.

    In an interview with IGN, Gunn muddied the timeline waters of the all-new DCU by explaining that the events of a pair of projects he created will be considered canon to the new connected universe.

    “Now in Creature Commandos, you’ll hear them talk about things that happened in [The] Suicide Squad or Peacemaker,” shared Gunn. “Well then, those things automatically become canon.”

    Released in 2021, The Suicide Squad introduced John Cena‘s Peacemaker to fans as part of a second team of degenerates sent by Amanda Waller to Corto Maltese. The events of The Suicide Squad, including the death of Rick Flag at the hands of Peacemaker, serve as the set up for Season 1 of Peacemaker, an HBO streaming series that debuted in 2022 and saw Cena return as the offbeat character. With Amanda Waller, who was featured in both projects, and Rick Flag’s father both appearing in Creature Commandos, and again in Season 2 of Peacemaker, a clear line of continuity can be established from one project to the next. Until it can’t.

    As it turns out, not ALL of the events of Season 1 of Peacemaker are to be considered canon to the new DCU, which hasn’t started yet but did start in 2021 with The Suicide Squad. “The truth is almost all of Peacemaker is canon with the exception of Justice League… which we will kind of deal with in the next season of Peacemaker,” said Gunn of the shadowy appearance of the Snyderverse’s team of heroes.

    Given Gunn’s creativity and the time he’s had to solve the issue of decanonizing a scene he wrote, explaining away the Justice League shouldn’t be much of a problem…at least until it happens.

    Creature Commandos kicks off the all-new DCU–or does it?–on December 5th while Season 2 of Peacemaker will begin streaming in August 2025.

    Marvel Reveals Full Cast List for the Final Season of Its First Animated Series

    After struggling to find consistency in its first season, Marvel’s multiverse-hopping canonical animated series, What If…?, hit its stride in Season 2. However, as the Multiverse Saga speeds toward its end, so indeed will Marvel Animation’s efforts to tell stories spread throughout it which means the third season of What If…? will be its last.

    The series won’t go out with a whimper, however, as the new season will expand into territory that the previous two avoided by including alternate takes on characters and stories outside of the Infinity Saga. To that end, the cast of the series has grown, adding a massive number of Phase 4 and 5 stars to the list of returning talent. According to an official project profile shared by Disney, What If…? will feature Hayley Atwell, Anthony Mackie, Sebastian Stan, David Harbour, Mark Ruffalo, Teyonah Parris, Kathryn Hahn, Kumail Nanjiani, Samuel L. Jackson, Seth Green, Laurence Fishburne, Dominique Thorne, Simu Liu, Hailee Steinfeld, Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston, Devery Jacobs, Michael Rooker, Karen Gillan, Tessa Thompson, Dominic Cooper, James D’Arcy, Josh Brolin, Oscar Isaac, Wyatt Russell, Walton Goggins, Clark Gregg, Emily VanCamp, Meng’er Zhang, Taika Waititi, Rachel House, Kat Dennings, Alison Sealy-Smith, Ross Marquand, Gene Farber, Hamish Parkinson, Tom Vaughn Lawlor and David Kaye with all reprising their respective roles in Season 3.

    The studio also shared a synopsis for the new season which promises “bigger spectacles” which is exactly what fans have hoped for in the final go-around.

    Marvel’s animated series What If…? returns in Season 3 for its culminating adventure through the multiverse. Watch as classic characters make unexpected choices that will mutate their worlds into spectacular alternate versions of the MCU. The Watcher (voice of Jeffrey Wright) will guide viewers as the series traverses new genres, bigger spectacles, and incredible new characters.

    One would be forgiven if one counted themselves among the many who questioned why Lucasfilm developed and produced Andor. A prequel to Rogue One, which itself was a prequel to George Lucas‘ original Star Wars film, it seemed an odd decision to work backward to tell the story of a man whose fate was already known. However, despite what may have been perceived to be working against its success, Andor became the gold standard for the studio’s streaming efforts, delivering a tense, boots-on-the-ground look at the birth of the Rebel Alliance. Driven by the passion of star Diego Luna, Season 1 of Andor was truly must-watch TV for Star Wars fans, leaving them ravenously anticipating its second and final season.

    After some hope that it might debut in 2024, Season 2 of Andor was bumped to 2025 following the Hollywood work stoppages that ground the film industry to a halt in 2023. With the revelation of its April 22, 2025 premiere date at D23 Expo Brazil fresh in the minds of fans, Disney has taken advantage of the buzz by releasing an official synopsis for the series and working with Empire to tease what fans can expect in the new, 12-episode season.

    Following his conversation with Stellan Skarsgård‘s magnificent bastard, Luthen Rael, in the Season 1 finale, it’s clear that Cassian is now ready to do what he must to take down the Empire and that’s where he picks up in Season 2. “He’s a man fully committed to the Rebellion,” said Luna in an interview with Empire Magazine. “It’s someone who has to ascend. There’s a huge mountain for him to climb in order to [become] the guy we meet in Rogue One,” explained the actor, referring to the 2016 film to which the two seasons of Andor serve as a prequel.

    And of course, as the series moves toward its end it must do so in a way that puts all the right people in all the right places…which means it might just become more Star Warsy than the first season. “We move in space more than ever — the amount of planets and sets you’re going to get to see. There are some familiar and new locations,” explained Luna, teasing a major shift from the first season’s various planetary settings, though there is one very familiar planet that will serve as a key location. “I mean, we have to end up in Yavin, right?” said series creator Tony Gilroy, referring to the planet that housed the Alliance’s base of operations seen in Rogue One and in Star Wars: Episode IV-A New Hope. “So, we’ll tell the story of Yavin. No one has quite dealt with Yavin the way we will be doing it.” With Gilroy’s knack for keeping fans on the edges of their seats, it’ll be fun to watch how it all unfolds even when the endgame is already in sight.

    Season 2 of Andor will debut on Disney Plus on April 22, 2025.

    Marvel Studios Reveals Voice Cast, Synopsis for Animated D+ Series ‘Eyes of Wakanda’

    Developed almost entirely in secret, Marvel Animation’s Eyes of Wakanda was revealed to the public by Marvel Studios Head of TV, Streaming, and Animation Brad Winderbaum in December 2023 during the studio’s What If…? Season 2 red carpet premiere. Set throughout the MCU’s Sacred Timeline, the four-episode series was originally described as the story of “brave warriors” who “throughout Wakandan history have been tasked to travel the world retrieving dangerous vibranium artifacts.”

    One of the rarest metals on the planet, Vibranium came to Earth 2.5 million ago as a series of meteorites crashed into Africa and the Atlantic Ocean. Wakandans mined the Great Mound and learned to refine the precious metal which quickly allowed them to become the most technologically advanced civilization on the planet. Though they worked hard to keep the Vibranium a secret, artifacts have made their way outside the isolationist nation. Captain America’s shield, created by Howard Stark, was made of Vibranium that a group of researchers from Stark Industries located in Africa; aided by N’Jobu, Ulysses Klaue stole a quarter ton of the substance in 1992; and, as seen in Black Panther, a Vibranium Wakandan warhammer was on display in the Museum of Great Britain until it was taken by N’Jadaka.

    Over the past year, it was revealed that the series was set to share “the history of Wakanda as told through the War Dogs,” referencing Wakanda’s global intelligence network whose number has included Nakia, Zuri and Prince N’Jobu. Now, as part of a 2025 Preview Kit, Disney has released an updated official synopsis for the series as well as members of the impressive voice cast for Eyes of Wakanda.

    Marvel Animation’s new action-adventure series Eyes of Wakanda follows the adventures of brave Wakandan warriors throughout history. In this globe-trotting adventure, the heroes must carry-out dangerous missions to retrieve Vibranium artifacts from the enemies of Wakanda. They are the Hatut Zaraze and this is their story.

    Created under Black Panther franchise writer/director Ryan Coogler‘s Proximity Media banner and directed by Todd Harris, Eyes of Wakanda “fits right into our sacred MCU timeline continuity,” according to Winderbaum, and has the unique opportunity to reframe the MCU’s known continuity. As seen in Black Panther, the history of Wakanda stretches back to 28,000 B.C. though the meteorite that brought Vibranium to Africa and the Atlantic Ocean fell from the sky much earlier in 2,500,000 B.C. While projects such as Eternals, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings and each of the Thor films have included flashbacks that predate Captain America: The First Avenger‘s WWII setting–and even predate the flashbacks in Black Panther–they are primarily set in “the present” and, as such, are placed far further down the timeline than Cap’s first MCU adventure. According to reports, one of the four 30-minute episodes of Eyes of Wakanda is set during the time of the Trojan War. While it seems historians are all over the place when trying to pin down exactly when the Trojan War took place–if at all–an episode set during it would likely take place in the 12th or 11th century B.C., stretching the known timeline of the MCU.

    According to a press release, Eyes of Wakanda will feature the voices of Winnie Harlow, Cress Williams (Black Lightning) as The Lion, Patricia Belcher (Bones), Larry Herron (Hello Neighbor: Welcome to Raven Brooks), Adam Gold, Lynn Whitfield (The Chi), Jacques Colimon (The Society), Jona Xiao (Hightown), Isaac Robinson-Smith (X-Men ’97), Gary Anthony Williams (Batman: Caped Crusader), Zeke Alton (Dungeon Masters), Steve Toussaint (House of the Dragon) and Anika Noni Rose (the voice of Jasmine in the Princess and the Frog).

    Marvel Animation’s Eyes of Wakanda will debut on Disney Plus on August 6, 2025.

    ‘Marvel Zombies’ Sets Premiere Date

    First announced in November 2021 as part of Disney Plus Day, Marvel Animation’s four-episode TV-MA project Marvel Zombies has been slow in making its way to the screen. Originally planned for a 2024 release, the series, created by Zeb Wells and Bryan Andrews fell off the radar a bit after being absent from several consecutive convention presentations by Marvel Studios.

    However,tThe project was recently revealed to be part of Marvel’s 2025 Disney Plus slate with a promise that fans would be able to view the episodes in time for Halloween. Now, you can go ahead and fill out your calendars with an official release date.

    Via an official 2025 Preview Kit shared with members of the media, Marvel Zombies will premiere on Disney Plus on October 3, 2025.

    The animated series will feature a voice cast that includes Awkwafina, David Harbour, Simu Liu, Elizabeth Olsen, Randall Park, Florence Pugh, Hailee Steinfeld, Dominique Thorne, Iman Vellani reprising their respective MCU roles and Todd Williams as Blade.

    Marvel TV Boss Reveals ‘Wonder Man’s Episode Count

    Wonder Man continues to be one of Marvel’s most enigmatic projects. Announced via trade report in June 2022, the series was created by Destin Daniel Cretton but was never acknowledged by the studio until Marvel Parliament member Stephen Broussard confirmed it was happening in a 2023 interview. Incredibly enough, despite being filmed on location in and around Los Angeles, production began and ended with very few set photos or plot leaks, leaving only rumors and speculation about the show’s true nature and some to believe it only to be a product of the Mandela Effect.

    Those rumors included buzz that Wonder Man, which was produced under the Marvel Spotlight banner, would consist of ten episodes. With both WandaVision and Agatha All Along rolling out nine episodes, Wonder Man looked poised to have the highest episode count of any live-action streaming series in Marvel’s D+ era; however, as it turns out, that will not be the case.

    In an interview with Phase Hero, Marvel Studios’ Head of TV, Streaming, and Animation, Brad Winderbaum, set the record straight on the episode count of Wonder Man. “I think Wonder Man is eight episodes. I think it’s an eight-episode series,” said Winderbaum, who also gave some new insight into the project which was recently announced to be headed to Disney Plus in December 2025.

    “It’s a two-hander between two amazing characters, this odd couple of Simon Williams and Trevor Slattery and you get a little bit of glimpse of that in the trailer,” explained Winderbaum, referencing Marvel Studios D+ Look Ahead teaser that was released on October 30th. While Winderbaum’s comments about Slattery’s role in the project were a little revealing, the TV boss wasn’t giving much else away. “I don’t want to go too much into the story details,” he said. “It’s very fun to see people speculating about what they think the plot is. That is part of the fun of it.” To this point, very little information about the plot of the series has made its way online with only an official logline really providing any insight into what to expect.

    Based on the character of Wonder Man, one of Marvel’s oldest characters, first introduced in 1964 in the pages of Avengers No 9. Known as Simon Williams, a celebrity actor and stuntman. In a nutshell, it is a story of two actors struggling to make it in the Hollywood of the MCU, [asking] the big question what does Hollywood look like in a world where super heroes are real?

    [Wonder Man will] be definitely influenced by the comics. One of the things that we’re excited about it is that it’s going to feel very unique. It’s not going to feel like anything you’ve quite seen in the MCU before. And the kind of stories we can tell on Disney+, which has been fun. Like streaming, serialized storytelling is a totally different muscle. So, we’re having a blast making that one.

    Winderbaum did take the opportunity to give fans a little bit of homework to do ahead of the series’ 2025 release. Illuminating comments made by Broussard, Winderbaum revealed which comics provided inspiration for the Wonder Man series. “If you’re a fan of the West Coast Avengers, you know a little bit about Simon Williams…you’re going to be very excited to see how much homage to the source material there is actually in the show,” teased Winderbaum.

    With over a year to go until its release on Disney Plus, it’ll be interesting to see just how much Marvel reveals about Wonder Man and how much they choose to continue to keep under wraps about the mysterious series.
