  • Major Animated Character Confirms ‘Andor’ Season 2 Role

Major Animated Character Confirms ‘Andor’ Season 2 Role

One of the most interesting aspects of Lucasfilm’s Star Wars streaming series Andor was how it tied into not only the live-action film Rogue One but also the beloved animated streaming series. One character who tied into both eras is Saw Gerrera, played by Forrest Whitaker, and it seems that the character is destined for another go around in Andor Season 2.

Locations for Season 2 of Andor have indicated that the streaming series would find a way to incorporate not only major characters from the animated series but also the transitional live-action series as well. Despite the bad news facing them and according to Whitaker, Gerrara is set to appear in Season 2 of Andor.

As for what Whitaker’s Gerrera might be up to ahead of Andor Season 2, it is absolutely tied to the events of Rogue One. The first season of the show deals a significant amount of growth for Diego Luna‘s Cassian Andor. At some point soon, Andor will be faced with the totality of his actions and we all will be left to judge its success!

  • Disney+ Not Moving Forward with ‘National Treasure’ Season 2

Disney+ Not Moving Forward with ‘National Treasure’ Season 2

Disney+ has decided not to move forward with a second season for the National Treasure spinoff show, Edge of History. Disney Branded Television and ABC Signature tried to grow the classic film franchise that starred Nicolas Cage. Lisette Olivera headlined the series opposite Catherine Zeta-Jones and even starred some original cast members from the films.

It’s a shame to see the series not move forward, as it was a unique offering giving the streaming service a unique project with an adventure vibe. Many have hoped to also see Nicolas Cage return to the role of Benjamin Franklin Gates in an upcoming season. Still, there’s always the opportunity that they may try to bring back the franchise as a theatrical release given it’s a well-established IP.

Disney+ has recently been on a canceling spree, as they’ve let go of series like Big Shot, The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers, Diary of a Future President, Turner & Hooch, as well as the Mysterious Benedict Society. It’s unclear if this is due to a lack of viewership or also the streaming service reducing its focus on streaming spend given the new direction for Disney’s future investments.

  • Disney and Victoria Alonso Settled Over Recent Firing

Disney and Victoria Alonso Settled Over Recent Firing

Marvel Studios is going through quite a bit of change. Not only did it have to work its way through the pandemic and Bob Chapek’s leadership, but it also was suddenly seeing a familiar face at the top once more with Bob Iger. The company is undergoing some harsh firing waves and many were shocked when long-time VFX chief Victoria Alonso was fired from her position. While the Internet obsessed with the topic believed this would start a new era for VFX works, many different allegations have come forth on the topic.

Some stated Alonso was a kingmaker that kind of destroyed their relationship with VFX agencies, while others claimed she played a big role in keeping projects together. Nothing concrete ever came out of it but the firing certainly lead to some wild accusations of “consequences” by Alonso’s lawyers. Multiple statements have been shared on why she was fired, which included her work on a project and seemingly neglecting responsibilities; a report that has never been confirmed.

Now, it seems that Disney and Alonso have settled with a multi-million compensation over her firing. It was seemingly reached just recently after many discussions surrounding her 17-year tenure at Marvel Studios and work in Argentina, 1985. We’ll likely never find out what exactly the threatening “consequences” are for Disney and Marvel Studios, but perhaps it’s only a matter of time before a report pops up with a claim about what it might be. For now, it seems that there won’t be further discussions or public announcements of Disney moving forward until the next major figure is fired.

Sinead Daly to Pen ‘Twilight’ TV Series for Lionsgate Television

Following the news that Lionsgate Television is looking to return to Forks, The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that the series has nabbed a writer. Sinead Daly, who has worked on Tell Me Lies, The Walking Dead: World Beyond, Raised by Wolves, Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency and The Get Down, has boarded the project. ‘Twilight’ TV Series in the Works

Lionsgate is looking to return to Forks, Washington. The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that Lionsgate Television is in early development on a Twilight television series. Summit Entertainment, which is owned by Lionsgate, helped to bring author Stephenie Meyer’s incredibly popular book series to the big screen back in 2008. Now, the studio is looking to revisit the series and try to reignite the sparkle of the film franchise.

Per THR, as the project is still in the early stages, there isn’t a writer or television studio yet attached to the project. • Marvel Snipers Be Damned: Patti Lupone Reveals the Identity of Her ‘Agatha: Coven of Chaos’ Character

Marvel Snipers Be Damned: Patti Lupone Reveals the Identity of Her ‘Agatha: Coven of Chaos’ Character

To hear the stars of Marvel Studios film and streaming projects tell it, somewhere out there exists an omnipresent Nick Fury Man on the Wall-esque character out there ready to silence them the moment they dare even consider sharing information about their projects. If he is real, Patti Lupone is not afraid of him. Lupone is starring in the upcoming Marvel Studios streaming series, Agatha: Coven of Chaos, a project about which very little information has been made publicly available by the studio. During a visit to The View, Lupone changed all that pretty quickly.

While discussing the project, Lupone revealed the identity of her character, one of a coven of witches who team with series lead Kathryn Hahn’s Agatha against some less than good witches. “Well it’s a coven of witches, and I play Lilia Calderu, who apparently is in the Marvel world,” said Lupone. “And I researched her, she’s hot! She’s really hot! She is! She’s got a great body, raven hair.” Calderu, The Witch-Queen of the Gypsies, is hardly a household name but is indeed ripped right from the pages of the Marvel Comics. Fortunately for Lupone, her research on the character was pretty easy as Calderu made one brief appearance in the comics before dying. While that might mean Lupone’s character’s time in the MCU will be short-lived, it also provides the opportunity for Marvel Studios to give the character a brand new story without being held to any standard from the comics.

Lupone didn’t stop there as she went on to detail just who else was part of Agatha’s coven of witches and what role Joe Locke will play in that coven. “We are a coven of witches, and the witches are Kathryn Hahn, Aubrey Plaza, and the familiar — if anybody knows ‘Heartstopper’ — is Joe Locke,” explained Lupone. “And Sasheer Zamata, Ali Ahn, and myself. And I play Lilia Calderu, a 450-year-old Sicilian witch, whose power is divination, and whose trial is tarot.” It is widely believed (ok, it’s known) that Locke is playing Billy Kaplan, aka the Young Avenger known as Wiccan, in the series so it’s interesting to see that he’s referred to as the coven’s “familiar” here. That means Billy will begin the series as nothing more than a companion to the witches before likely beginning to discover his true nature which, in the comics, is fairly convoluted.

Lupone’s willingness to share details about the project probably came as quite a shock to Marvel Studios; however, given the lack of positive buzz around the studio at the moment, they’ll hopefully be a bit forgiving with the actress. Agatha: Coven of Chaos is expected to stream on Disney Plus sometime in 2024.

  • First Details and Cast as Knuckles’ ‘Sonic the Hedgehog’ Spinoff Starts Filming

First Details and Cast as Knuckles’ ‘Sonic the Hedgehog’ Spinoff Starts Filming

It’s been a hot minute since Paramount announces its plans to expand its video game adaptation of Sonic the Hedgehog with its first spinoff series. Besides the early confirmation of a threequel, the newly introduced Knuckles, voiced by Idris Elba, will get his own Paramount+ original.

After a long pause, we suddenly have more details on not just the story but also its cast and even the confirmation that it started filming. The official Sonic the Hedgehog account has shared the news that Sonic the Hedgehog director will tackle the pilot episode and includes a familiar hat for long-time fans.

The story will focus on Knuckles, who “agrees to train Wade as his protégé and teach him the ways of the Echidna warrior.” Sadly, we don’t have any further details but it wouldn’t be too surprising if they use the series to further explore that part of the franchise’s mythology.

Adam Pally will once again reprise his role of Wade Whipple with Elba also set to return. They will be joined by Edi Patterson, Julian Barratt, Scott Mescudi, and Ellie Taylor. John Whittington wrote the screenplay of the pilot and is also the head writer on the series. Brian Schacter and James Madejski also wrote episodes of the series.

  • Netflix’s ‘One Piece’ Screen Testing Rumors Have Been Debunked

Netflix’s ‘One Piece’ Screen Testing Rumors Have Been Debunked

The internet is no stranger to creating an onset of concern for upcoming projects. Especially when it comes to live-action adaptations of anything. Marvel has been a main source of constant leaks and scoops popping up left and right without much knowledge what could truly be taken seriously or not. Now, it has even reached Netflix’s One Piece adaptation.

Some time ago a Twitter user by the name of Divinity Seeker has made bold claims that test screenings weren’t looking good for the adaptation but also included contradictory statements like Taz Skyler’s roots showing with his blonde hair even though he bleached his hair and wears a blond wig as shown in the official poster.

While the “scooper” has been debunked by James Gunn and even others that dabble, it hasn’t stopped the Internet of spreading the unreliable information. Yet, now more information has surfaced to shoot down the claims surrounding the test screenings.

Greg Werner took to his Twitter account to debunk the claims, as he is someone that frequently collaborates with Shueisha and the One Piece brand.

He’s not the only one as content creator Rogersbase has also taken to his account to denounce the claims shared by Comic Book Resources. It is noteworthy that he has already visited the Netflix series’ set and has close ties to showrunner Matt Owens.

So, it seems that the test screening rumors have quickly been debunked and fans excited for the adaptation can breathe a little easier moving forward as we anticipate news on Geeked Week’s return with hopefully the first look at the series.

  • James Gunn Confirms When ‘Creature Commandos’ Will Kick Off the New DCU

James Gunn Confirms When ‘Creature Commandos’ Will Kick Off the New DCU

When James Gunn revealed part of DC Studios Chapter 1: Gods and Monsters slate, it was revealed that the animated Max series Creature Commandos was the first project to get the green light. When the series was announced, Gunn has already completed scripting all seven episodes and with casting just recently announced, it’s been pretty consistently clear that it would be the project that launched the new DCU. Now Gunn has given fans an idea of when they can expect to see the motley crew.

While participating in one of his favorite pastimes (interacting with fans on Twitter), Gunn revealed that Creature Commandos is slated for a 2024 release on Max, the new name of the combined streaming services HBO Max and Discovery.

Gunn and Peter Safran have made it clear that the plan is for the talent who lend their voices to Creature Commandos to also portray the characters in live-action. It was made clear that Rick Flag Sr., voiced by Frank Grillo, will show up in other projects and it’s likely he won’t be the only one. With the streaming series Waller likely the next project in the queue, and Viola Davis part of the cast of Creature Commandos, it’s possible we might see Flag Sr. in live action sooner rather than later.

  • ‘It’ Prequel ‘Welcome to Derry’ Continues to Expand Its Cast

‘It’ Prequel ‘Welcome to Derry’ Continues to Expand Its Cast

The cast for Welcome to Derry is continuing to grow, as it has now added Revenge’s Madeleine Stowe and Daredevil’s Stephen Rider. The project still technically doesn’t have an official name and the “Welcome to Derry” is more a working title for now, but it wouldn’t be too surprised if it gets the It moniker added as other franchises do nowadays, such as Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery.

The two additions are joining a cast that currently consists of Chris Chalk, Jovan Adepo, James Remar, and Taylour Paige. We currently have no details on who exactly they are set to play and the details are still under lock and key on just how much it’ll explore the history of Derry. It’s very likely going to act as a prequel to the story of Pennywise and how the Dancing Clown came to be but Bill Skarsgard has denied any involvement of far.

The project is from the mind of the latest It films’ director Andy Muschietty, who developed the HBO Max Original series with Jason Fuchs, who is acting as the series showrunner, and his wife Barbara Muschietti. There’s a lot of potentials to explore this series in a Lovecraftian way as we slowly uncover the creature’s growing hold over Derry and the ones that stood up against him when no other could.
