  • New ‘Deadpool 3’ Set Photo Offers First Look at Hugh Jackman in Comic-Accurate Wolverine Suit

New ‘Deadpool 3’ Set Photo Offers First Look at Hugh Jackman in Comic-Accurate Wolverine Suit

Just recently, we had a first look at Ryan Reynolds‘ new Deadpool costume in the upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe threequel. As the entry was moving away from 20th Century Fox, many were hoping this meant we’d also get Hugh Jackman‘s Wolverine to finally wear a comic-accurate costume of his own. His return gave many the hope that we’ll finally give the actor the chance to have one last go after Logan to be a bit closer to the comics.

Luckily, the latest set photos from the production have finally confirmed that he will, in fact, wear the iconic yellow outfit from the comics. It seems strongly inspired by the Astonishing X-Men run and it’s crazy to see the actor actually wear a costume that isn’t just black leather or a brown jacket. Even X-Men: Days of Future Past only gave him some yellow highlights and remained true to the 2000s X-Men franchise.

It is bonkers to think that he’s been playing the character for over 20 years and never had the chance to actually don the iconic suit. Deadpool 3 is the perfect time for his character to return and get that iconic look, as it blends the two worlds together in a potential multiversal storyline. Plus, it would’ve been a shame for these two giants not to meet with the entire Deadpool franchise building up to their eventual meeting.

  • REPORT Marvel Studios ‘X-Men ’97’ Series May Be Eyeing an Early 2024 Release

REPORT Marvel Studios ‘X-Men ’97’ Series May Be Eyeing an Early 2024 Release

Marvel Studios took quite a step back during 2023 with their Disney+ ventures. While we still have three live-action series set to release, it’s been a while since She-Hulk, Attorney at Law found its way into the service back in August. We’re still some weeks away until Secret Invasion will release, but it seems their latest animated venture might take just a tad bit longer than initially expected. Originally set for a Fall 2023 release during last year’s San Diego Comic-Con, it seems we might have to wait until January of next year.

It seems that the US Copyright Office may be the leaker this time around. First discovered by @ScarletWitchUpd on Twitter, the series is seemingly scheduled to release on January 3rd, 2024. There’s a chance that it might just be a placeholder release date set by the copyright office for the pilot episode, as it supposedly is a pre-registration. Still, it wouldn’t be too surprising given that Echo is now set to release in November as a binge release.

Marvel Studios’ animated ventures have been showcased as something separate from the rest of their projects with the exception of What If…?. We’re still waiting for the second season of that series to release, but they generally have gone quiet on the various entries. We’ll have to wait just a bit longer but perhaps a trailer will arrive sometime in the fourth quarter that confirms the release date.

  • 2 Familiar X-Men Set to Return for ‘Deadpool 3’

2 Familiar X-Men Set to Return for ‘Deadpool 3’

It looks like we have some familiar faces returning for Deadpool 3. Even while Shawn Levy is taking over directing duties and the film is set to be produced by Marvel Studios, the franchise is still continuing from its 20th Century Fox roots, as Ryan Reynolds continues to build upon what the previous two Deadpool entries set up. Now, we have the confirmation that we’ll have two familiar faces from the X-Men that were introduced in previous films.

Brianna Hildebrand is back to once again play Negasonic Teenage Warhead, the mutant we first met during her traineeship under Colossus in the first Deadpool film. She’ll be joined by Shioli Kutsuna, who played her girlfriend Yukio, a Japanese mutant. We sadly didn’t spend too much time with Yukio outside of a few scenes so it would be great if this new film will give her a bit more to do.

Reynolds, Levy, Paul Wernick, Rhett Reese, and Zeb Wells all had a hand in writing the script for the third Deadpool film. We’re seeing Marvel Studios return to some old habits of adapting its various projects with the help of a variety of writers to help bring the script together. It’ll be produced by Kevin Feige and while plot details are still tightly kept under wraps, we do know that we have a few franchise veterans returning, such as Rob Delaney, Morena Baccarin, Karan Soni, Leslie Uggams, and Stefan Kapicic.

  • RUMOR: ‘X-Men ’97’ Eyeing Fall Release, Eyeing 4 Season Run

RUMOR: ‘X-Men ’97’ Eyeing Fall Release, Eyeing 4 Season Run

The Marvel Rumor mill is at it again, as we’re slowly getting some hints at the future of Marvel Studios’ ventures. While they are generally taking a bit of a step back to readjust, we’re still getting some hints at what is heading our way on Disney+ at some point in 2023. Geeks Worldwide’s KC Walsh has just shared that the next live-action series Secret Invasion may be currently eyeing a May release, but that isn’t all.

He also took to his Twitter to announce that they are hoping to release the animated X-Men: The Animated Series revival by the Fall of 2023. Not only that, but he also hints that X-Men ’97 is currently eyeing a four-season run. That is quite an exciting reveal given that there have been rumors we may expect them to also dial down their animated projects as we haven’t heard anything on them since the Season 2 renewals back in 2022’s San Diego Comic-Con.

Of course, his wording means “it’s expected to go” which hints that it’s not a definite renewal for all four seasons. There’s also the chance they may see a lot of potential to run longer, as the animated series wouldn’t be beholden by the ever-expanding Marvel Cinematic Universe. We still don’t know what exactly their plans are for the animated projects, but it does seem like they are hoping to go all in with these adaptations. Here’s hoping an official announcement isn’t too far off.

  • Wolverine Voice Actor Offers Update on ‘X-Men ’97’ Season 2

Wolverine Voice Actor Offers Update on ‘X-Men ’97’ Season 2

Marvel Studios has started many different projects since COVID hit, and it has disrupted their usual release schedules. As we’re entering an era where less will release,e we still have no word on what exactly will happen to the various animated projects moving forward like X-Men ’97.

During San Diego Comic-Con, Marvel Studios pretty much renewed most of their animated projects for a second season. That was, however, followed by rumors that they may not be moving forward with them until seeing if their projects even managed to pull in an audience, which is not conducive for any animated project.

Luckily, it seems that at least X-Men ’97 is moving forward even though we still have no update on the first season release. To showcase that it is moving forward, Wolverine voice actor Cal Dodd has taken to his Twitter account to share a little update on what’s been happening with the iconic voice and even sporting some familiar claws.

    https://twitter.com/realcaldodd/status/1626683842881781761

If they are already starting on the second season, Marvel Studios seems quite impressed with the work their team has brought to life. We still are waiting for some kind of trailer or release date but animation takes quite a bit of time to bring to life. So, they might still take some time and are recording in advance while they continue work on the production. These projects are being treated separately from the mainline Marvel Cinematic Universe and as such aren’t going to be as affected by the restructuring.

  • Marvel Veteran Hints Ian McKellen Already in Talks to Return as Magneto

Marvel Veteran Hints Ian McKellen Already in Talks to Return as Magneto

Sir Patrick Stewart‘s cameo in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness wasn’t the biggest secret for a long time, but the potential return of Ian McKellen as Magneto also made the rounds. At one point, it was even theorized to be Michael Fassbender. Yet, once the project was released though, he was the only mutant as part of the Illuminati.

Still, it seems Ian McKellen might already be making some plans for the future as revealed by Patrick Stewart in an interview with ET Online. While asking if he got any feedback from his long-time collaborator returning to the role of Charles Xavier, he drops the rather curious mention of “we got plans.”

Actually, it went very well. He did say something like [‘Hey, I would’ve done this!’], yes that’s true. But we’re not done, Sir Ian and myself. We’re… we got plans.

    Sir Patrick Stewart

This isn’t a confirmation of course, but the tease is quite unsubtle. It wouldn’t be too surprising for Marvel Studios to map out all the cameos they want or need to be prepared once they start rolling on some of their true multiversal projects. Not only is there Avengers: Secret Wars, which might be the most obvious place to have both reappear, but also the rumors surrounding Deadpool 3.

Not only is he being reunited with Hugh Jackman‘s Wolverine but it’s potentially going to include others from the 20th Century Fox line of mutants and characters. There have even been rumors that they’ll use this opportunity to create the Deadpool Kills the Marvel Universe storyline without it affecting the actual MCU and as a great segway for him into the overarching franchise. It’s unclear if Marvel Studios would even go that far with a film, but theorizing is going to get crazy the closer we get to these projects.

  • Giancarlo Esposito is Ready to Roll into the MCU

Giancarlo Esposito is Ready to Roll into the MCU

It’s not a surprise that Giancarlo Esposito became one of the “top actors” that fans want to see joining the big Marvel family because of his excellent performance in shows such as Breaking BadBetter Call Saul, and The Mandalorian, to the point that the actor himself it’s interested in receiving that Disney money but not in the way that MCU fans think.

Even though everyone is on board to see Esposito on the big screen as Dr. Doom, he recently expressed interest in taking on a very different role; the 64-year-old actor is keen on playing Charles Xavier, leader of the X Men.

“I love what Marvel does. I love that the fans can see me in this universe and are proposing not only one character, possibly Magneto, possibly [DC’s Dr.] Freeze. And the biggest ask is Charles Xavier”

Giancarlo Espocito on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon

Some people may find this statement confusing since we recently saw Charles interpreted by Patrick Stewart in the latest installment of the Doctor Strange franchise, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. And yes, that’s a valid point. Still, we must remember that we saw him coming back as the Professor because Feige wanted to give the fans what they had been praying to see for years; this doesn’t mean that he might be Professor X from the MCU universe. He might be a variant. Hence, the door for someone different to play this character is still wide open (as we know).

“I want to play a good guy. Charles is smart. He’s good. But I feel as if there may be some mileage with me and Marvel. I know I love what they do. I know I love creativity. So who knows what could happen? Keep putting it out there”

Giancarlo Espocito on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon

As Mr. Esposito said, the only thing we can do is make our voices heard, so the people at Marvel give us what we want.

  • Marvel Studios Exec Names Two X-Men Who Could be Key to the MCU Reboot

Marvel Studios Exec Names Two X-Men Who Could be Key to the MCU Reboot

Executive Producer and Parliament member Nate Moore has had an incredible run at Marvel Studios. Moore has worked on four of the studio’s most successful and well-received films (Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Captain America: Civil War, Black Panther and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever), Eternals, The Falcon and The Winter Soldier and is currently prepping Captain America: New World Order, which begins production this spring. While nothing has been announced officially, it’s likely that Moore will have a big role in shaping what’s sure to be the studio’s next big thing after the Multiverse Saga: the X-Men! Disney acquired the live-action rights to the X-Men and related characters in 2019 and while they’ve mixed in some of the characters here and there, they’ve yet to dive in other than announcing that “mutants are coming.” But that’s going to change soon…

In an interview with Deadline’s Anthony D’Alessandro, Moore was asked what stories he’d like to see told in the MCU’s future involving Black superheroes and he didn’t hesitate to name to of the X-Men’s most powerful members. “There’s no secret the X-Men are coming home,” said Moore, “and boy, if you talk about Storm and Bishop, those are two of the great characters in that franchise that I certainly ould pitch you ideas all day.

Both characters appeared, in name, over the course of Fox’s reign of terror as the right’s holder and sole producer of the X-Men films. While neither character was given proper treatment, the fact that they sit in the front of Moore’s mind when discussing the future of the MCU gives hope. However, fans shouldn’t get too excited to see them any time soon as Moore reminded Alessandro that Marvel Studios is “early, early, early days” in terms of preparing the X-Men to ascend to their rightful place atop the comic book movie hierarchy.

  • 12 Days of X-Mas: Day 12, Wolverine

    12 Days of X-Mas: Day 12, Wolverine

The X-Men are coming to the Marvel Cinematic Universe and Marvel Studios has no small task ahead of them in making sure that the iconic team can lead the franchise in Phase 7 and beyond. Marvel Studios is also sure to make every effort to separate their adaptation of the team(s) from what came before. To celebrate the 12 Days of Christmas, we’ve decided to put together a list of which characters might play a key role and how Marvel Studios can ensure nobody will confuse them with their Fox counterparts or, in this case, one that should play a key role this time around as well.

The Best There Is at What He Does

Hugh Jackman‘s Logan was the central character of Fox’s nearly two-decade run of X-films. Wolverine was the central character of the original trilogy, headlined three solo films (can they be called a trilogy when they seem so disconnected?), appeared in one and cameoed in another and was even referenced in the two Deadpool films. So what in the world is he doing here? Hopefully suiting up in one of the most iconic comic book costumes of all time!

Jackman will get the chance to be the one to wear that suit when he becomes the first of Fox’s X-Men (that we know of at least) to show up in the MCU when the untitled Deadpool and Wolverine movie hits theaters in November 2024. It’s almost impossible to imagine that Kevin Feige, who worked with Fox on the early X-films, won’t address one of the greatest travesties in comic book movie history and get Jackman in the spandex. But what’s next after that? Surely Jackman might stick around for another appearance in Avengers: Secret Wars, but he isn’t going to play Wolverine forever…

If rumors about Tiamut, the big corpse in the ocean at the end of Eternals, being made of Adamantium (or perhaps bringing it up from the Earth’s core, where he was growing) are true and the events of Captain America: New World Order and Thunderbolts revolve around the governments of the world trying to get their hands on the metal, the road to Wolverine in the MCU has already begun to be paved. Restarting the Weapons Plus program now seems imminent with the MCU and while Logan probably won’t be the only experiment, he’s the most well-known. Will the MCU waste time on a retelling of his origin story in detail or will they want to get to the dozens of potentially great and unexplored stories that Fox skimmed over? Shadowcat and Ogun. His father-daughter relationship with Jubilee. His horrible relationship with his own son, Daken. Hanging out with his bestie, Kurt. Serving on X-Force with Deadpool, Fantomex, Betsy and Angel. There are so many great Wolverine stories to adapt to the MCU that Marvel Studios need not touch whatever people believe the legacy of Fox’s Wolverine to be. But I’m guessing they’ll let Jackman be the one to take on the Hulk!

  • 12 Days of X-Mas: Day 10, Forge

    12 Days of X-Mas: Day 10, Forge

The X-Men are coming to the Marvel Cinematic Universe and Marvel Studios has no small task ahead of them in making sure that the iconic team can lead the franchise in Phase 7 and beyond. Marvel Studios is also sure to make every effort to separate their adaptation of the team(s) from what came before. To celebrate the 12 Days of Christmas, we’ve decided to put together a list of which characters might play a key role and how Marvel Studios can ensure nobody will confuse them with their Fox counterparts or, in this case, an X-Men fixture that Fox left on the bench.

    The Genius

The Cheyenne Indian known as Forge never appeared in Fox’s X-films and that’s probably a blessing in disguise. Every super team needs an idea guy and Forge is an idea guy on a  level that would rival the greats like Tony Stark and Reed Richards. The kind of work Forge would do was either completely absent from the X-films or relegated to Hank McCoy who while also a genius in the comics, wasn’t the intuitive engineering genius that Forge was.

Described best in his own words, Forge’s true mutant gift was “to make the impossible real” something he often did without possessing a true understanding of the process he was working through. Thanks to his mutation, Forge sees what others cannot and what Forge can see, Forge can create. As you can imagine, this gift can be both beautiful and terrifying and Forge has made more than his fair share of terrifying devices, including one that neutralized mutant powers. Forge has recently played a major role in the X-Men’s resurrection protocols and has found a new outlet for his talents in creating bio-organic weapons with the help of Krakoa.

Adding Forge to the mix of X-Men in the MCU shouldn’t be a problem. His status as a member of the Cheyenne Tribe works well with Marvel Studios’ ongoing efforts to add diverse characters to the MCU, something very in line with Stan Lee’s original work with the X-Men. His past as a wounded soldier who experienced severe trauma also adds a layer of depth to the character and one not much different from current MCU fan favorite Bucky Barnes. Like Barnes, Forge sustained some gruesome war injuries; unlike Barnes, Forge is essentially part cyborg now but that mixture of man and machine fits so well with his mutant power that it must be part of his story. Beyond that, he’s a must-have character whose brilliance as an inventor will allow the X-Men to stay sharp and develop weapons to take on the alien races they’re sure to encounter (and that Fox decided to ignore). Including Forge also provides the opportunity for one of his inventions to fall into the wrong hands and endanger mutants everywhere. Forge has been a member of the core team, X-Force and X-Factor and has a pretty underrated relationship with Wolverine. It’s truly hard to believe that he hasn’t somehow been brought to live-action yet, but Marvel Studios should definitely change that in the very near future.
