    One of DC’s newest heroes is already making her way to the small screen via the CW. Naomi McDuffie was created by Brian Michael Bendis, David F. Walker and Jamal Campbell in 2019 and the CW series was ordered just over 2 years later. Kaci Walfall will play Naomi, a multiversal metahuman who ends up on Earth-0.

    Naomi McDuffie was born on an alternate earth but sent to the main universe to
    protect her from Zumbado, the man who conquered her earth and killed those with powers.
    Naomi works to uncover her origins and where she really came from, all while developing her
    newfound abilities that allow her to manipulate energy

  • ‘Batgirl’

    ‘Batgirl’

    Another DTC film headed to HBO Max, Batgirl, written by Birds of Prey writer Christina Hodson, will introduce another version of Barbara Gordon, played by Leslie Grace. In October 2021 it was announced that Jacob Scipio had joined the show in an undisclosed role.

    Untitled Rian Johnson ‘Star Wars’ Trilogy

    Since 2017 that it’s confirmed that Rian Johnson is to return to the Star Wars universe with three new films. Johnson will develop a brand new trilogy and will take it upon himself to both write and direct the first of the three movies, after doing the same for 2017’s The Last Jedi.

  • Lando

    In December 2020, Lando was announced as a Disney+ limited series with Justin Simien attached to write the show.

    As of May 2022, the series is still in development at LucasFilm with President Kathleen Kenedy confirming that production would be waiting until Donald Glover managed to free up his schedule in order to go through with the promise of a Lando Calrissian show on Disney+.

    In a 2023 interview, Kennedy said the series was still in the works. Later that year, Simien revealed he hadn’t heard anything about the series since 2020.

  • Rogue Squadron

    One of the biggest surprises of the Disney Investor Day on December 10, 2020, was the official announcement that Patty Jenkins would direct a Star Wars feature film, becoming the first-ever woman to do so. The story will focus on a new generation of starfighter pilots as they earn their wings and risk their lives in a boundary-pushing, high-speed thrill-ride, and move the saga into the future era of the galaxy. Later on, writer Matthew Robinson (The Invention of Lying) joined the project.

    In November of 2021, it was revealed that Rogue Squadron would be delayed indefinitely to accommodate Jenkins’ schedule. In early 2022, following the announcement of Disney’s upcoming cinematic release schedule, which goes as further as 2028, Rogue Squadron is seen still eyeing a release on December 22, 2023.

    As of September 2022, Rogue Squadron was officially taken off the Star Wars movie release schedule. In 2023, Kennedy stated that the film was still “on the books” and implied that the studio was taking its time because they wanted it “to be great.

    While nothing official has been revealed about the project, a Star Wars film written and directed by Taika Waititi has been in development since May of 2020. Lucasfilm had three dates put aside for Star Wars theatrical releases with Patty JenkinsRogue Squadron taking the 2023 slot. With Taika’s project being the only other referred to at the Disney Investor Day on December 10, 2020, it’ was once thought that his feature might be the one released in 2025.

    In an interview with Total Film in May 2022, Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy confirmed that the upcoming Taika Waititi-directed film is currently slated to be the next theatrical release for the Star Wars franchise. Lucasfilm is now aiming to have the film released in late 2023, but Kennedy made note that nothing was officially locked in during the interview. The film was originally expected to begin production in 2023 but was pushed back as Waititi continued to work on the script and focus on his next project, Klara and the Sun.

    Taika is still working away. He’s writing the script himself. He doesn’t really want to bring others into that process and I don’t blame him. He has a very, very unique voice. So we want to protect that and that’s what he’s doing. But we’re going to make that one day.

    In May 2023, Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy gave an update on the project and there was some hope that production might start in 2024.

    While nothing official has been revealed about the film, it is believed that director Shawn Levy‘s film will begin filming in late 2025 and be the next film to follow The Mandalorian and Grogu into theaters.

    In September of 2019, Marvel Studios One-Above-All, Kevin Feige, struck a deal with Lucasfilm to develop a yet-untitled film set in the Star Wars universe. Little is known about the project, said by Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy to be “a ways off” yet, but Feige has teased that he already has a high-profile actor in mind for a key role in the film.
