With cameras set to roll on Lucasfilm’s next Star Wars film, Shawn Levy‘s Starfighter, the studio has cast Doctor Who and House of the Dragon star Matt Smith opposite Ryan Gosling. According to Deadline, Smith is set to play “the next great villain in the Star Wars universe.”
Officially revealed at Star Wars Celebration 2025, Star Wars: Starfighter is set approximately five years after the events of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker and will feature Gosling as a brand-new character. Mia Goth, who was cast in June, is also reportedly playing a villain in the film which is due in theaters on May 28, 2027.
