‘Grand Theft Auto 6’ Leak Confirmed, Among Gaming’s Biggest

It’s been a heavy day for Rockstar Games, as one of their biggest upcoming releases has seemingly leaked, Grand Theft Auto 6. We don’t know what exactly led to it but it seemed unreal that so much footage would find its way online, as it seemingly is from the actual developers. It offered some first looks into the long-rumored game that’s been seemingly in development for quite some time.

To some degree, it just seemed surreal and many were uncertain if it was actual footage of an earlier version of the game. As it turns out, Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier has seemingly confirmed that this is indeed from an earlier build of Grand Theft Auto 6, which may be one of the biggest leaks in gaming history.

While some are excited about the first footage of the game, this isn’t something to really be excited about. Small hints or teases have become part of the overall way for the Internet to build up momentum but never to such a degree. It’s heavy for the first look to be an unlikely very early version of the game that is purely meant for the developers. Other devs like Naughty Dog’s Neil Druckmann have reached out to support Rockstar through these hard times.

It definitely should not be something to drag down the talented staff at Rockstar Games and discourage anyone from bringing their projects to life. Those that have spoken out about the quality and it being “unfinished” should also keep in mind that this is indeed the case. We have very little insight into the complexities of game development, and this is definitely not in any way the finished product as that would only be the case once Rockstar Games decided to actually reveal it to us on their own terms.

  • RUMOR: First ‘Grand Theft Auto 6’ Footage Potentially Leaks, Further Hints at Return to Vice City

RUMOR: First ‘Grand Theft Auto 6’ Footage Potentially Leaks, Further Hints at Return to Vice City

The Internet has always been unpredictable, especially in the day and age of leaks and scoopers rising in popularity. Still, gaming mainly was safe outside of small elements finding their way online such as skin leaks from Marvel’s Avengers. This time around, one of the biggest leaks may have happened as the first footage has found its way online from the long-rumored Grand Theft Auto 6. We still have to take it with a grain of salt but it’s certainly looking to be quite real given just how much has been revealed.

The game is seemingly going for a Bonnie and Clyde storyline, as the game features male and female protagonists, Jason and Lucia. It also is seemingly taking place in Vice City with some familiar locations teased like Malibu Club. Twitter user @Okami13_ has shared some of the details that were noticed in the footage provided online. There’s also a full video of a diner takeover that was seemingly leaked where the player takes control of Lucia.

This footage seems to be from a dev build and it’s unclear just how someone was able to get their hands on it. That isn’t the only footage, as @Who2Pitts has also shared what seems like a conversation between NPCs highlighting that this is indeed the dev version with a debug menu included.

If this turns out to be real, it’s definitely one of the biggest leaks we’ve seen in a while for a game this deep into development. Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier has seemingly also added fuel to the fire by pointing out that a lot that has leaked also connects with what he’s heard about the game, which includes two protagonists and Vice City as the main location. For now, we’ll have to see if Rockstar will make a statement in regards to these leaks eventually or if they might still keep a potential reveal a secret until it’s ready.

  • REPORT: ‘Ms. Marvel’ Renewed For Second Season

REPORT: ‘Ms. Marvel’ Renewed For Second Season

It looks like Iman Vellani is here to stay. According to a new report from Daniel RPK, Marvel Studios may have just given the green light to another season of Ms. Marvel, one of the latest Marvel Cinematic Universe series to drop on Disney+ and a hit with fans earlier this year. The show, centered around Vellani’s teenage hero Kamala Khan as she grows up in Jersey City, was initially believed to just be an origin story for the character. However, if true, this news would indicate Marvel has changed course and will alter the live-action title from “limited” to “ongoing.”

Vellani can next be seen in 2023’s The Marvels, a sequel to 2019’s Captain Marvel that features Khan teaming up with Brie Larson’s Carol Danvers and Teyonah Parris’ Monica Rambeau after the trio’s powers begin to malfunction. It’s likely a second season of Ms. Marvel would pick up after the events of the film, with Khan resuming her personal life in New Jersey and continuing to grow into her new role as a superhero. There are plenty of loose threads left hanging from the first season that another batch of episodes could help resolve, taking the pressure off of future team-up films to do the heavy lifting when it comes to Kamala’s character arc within the MCU.

Aside from Vellani, the cast of Ms. Marvel includes Matt Lintz and Yasmeen Fletcher as friends Bruno and Nakia, as well as Zenobia ShroffMohan Kapoor, and Saagar Shaikh as members of the Khan family. Laurel MarsdenRish Shah, and Aramis Knight also have supporting roles. Former Batgirl directors Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah directed most of the first season with Meera Menon and Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy. Bisha K. Ali served as head writer.

  • REVIEW: ‘Slaughter Day’ is Proof People Should Make More Movies with Their Friends

REVIEW: ‘Slaughter Day’ is Proof People Should Make More Movies with Their Friends

The horror genre is known to dip into low-budget territory, but 1991’s Slaughter Day is on a completely new level. Written by the brothers Blake and Brent Cousins, and directed by the latter, this insanely obscure little gem is now available on Blu-Ray disc for the very first time – even if it still looks like a home video from another world. For the uninitiated, and there are probably a lot of uninitiated, Slaughter Day is a micro-budget movie shot with consumer-grade equipment about a pair of teenagers who find themselves battling a group of murderous construction workers after they’re possessed by forces flowing from a mysterious occult book. It’s only about an hour long, and it somehow still manages to be filled with both the worst acting and craziest action sequences ever put to, what appears to be, a camcorder, in history.

Yet, there’s something undeniably charming about the ingenuity behind Slaughter Day. There’s a sense that the cast and crew of this film had no interest in making it big or popular. Instead, it very much feels like a group of friends finding a way to have as much fun as possible over summer vacation. Whether that’s actually the case remains a mystery to most, but at the very least, it injects the project with a certain aura that makes it easier to swallow the fact it also comes off like an over-done class assignment. Like watching a child show someone something they’re proud of, Slaughter Day makes one sit back and gaze on with a smirk that says, “honestly, good for them.”

At a certain point in the picture, the story switches gears and becomes an absolutely bonkers, balls-to-the-wall action flick. This point, maybe twenty or so minutes into the runtime, is when Slaughter Day really comes into its own, and a viewer starts to understand why it received a re-release 30 years later. Cousins and his team pull off the kind of stunts and effects most kids merely dream of doing in their backyards growing up. The amount of effort and creativity put into crafting something like, say, a man folding in half and being sucked into a magic book, is astounding. The camera work is also surprisingly impressive for the limitations of the brother’s technology at the time. Early on, most shots are clearly replicas of ones seen in grander, theatrically released films of the era, but as Slaughter Day plays out, the filming techniques appear to become more complicated and start to leave audiences wondering how two kids from Hawaii might have made them happen.

It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia creator Rob McElhenney has long been a champion for, quote, “making your own stuff.” He argues that, if a person has an idea of what they’d like to see and they can’t get anyone else to make it, they should just do it themselves and see what happens. That’s how Sunny began its remarkable 15-season run, with a micro-budget home video shot on a crappy camera by McElhenney and his friends. It’s a lovely story, and one that seems to be in line with the mentality the Cousins brothers had almost 15 years before Sunny ever aired. The childlike wonderment and originality of Slaughter Day is proof that one never knows what they’re capable of producing until they just do it. It’s an ode to making art with people you love, simply because you all love making art. After all, people never know where their creations might take them. Maybe one day, someone else throws together a little passion project in their backyard, and 30 years after that, it gets its very own Blu-Ray Collector’s Edition.

  • REVIEW: ‘The Rings of Power’ – ‘The Great Wave’ Plants Plenty of Seeds for the Future

REVIEW: ‘The Rings of Power’ – ‘The Great Wave’ Plants Plenty of Seeds for the Future

The Rings of Power has returned, and this time, it’s looking toward the future. Unlike last week’s action-packed entry, this week’s episode – The Great Wave – is focused mainly on setting up arcs that will hopefully pay off later in the season. Galadriel and Elrond anchor two very solid plotlines in wildly differing locations, while Arondir comes face-to-face with a new threat and reconvenes with cohorts in trouble. It’s another wonderous journey into the depths of Middle-earth, supported heavily by more incredible visuals and some truly powerful acting. Like previous installments, the episode leaves the viewer wanting for more, and continues to open doors without closing them on the way out. Luckily for fans, it doesn’t look like The Rings of Power is going to run out of steam anytime soon.

Much of The Great Wave plays out with a sense of foreboding. The episode’s title is literally taken from the visions had by Cynthia Addai-Robinson‘s Queen Regent Míriel, of Númenor’s disastrous fate. The great City of Men, she sees, is destined to be consumed by a great wave and sunk beneath the ocean, if the Queen Regent does not remove Morfydd Clark‘s Galadriel from the island post-haste. This opening scenario sets the tone for the whole shebang, as viewers begin to see similar vibes present in the other two major plotlines happening concurrently. In Khazad-dûm, Robert Aramayo‘s Elrond seeks to continue the bonding process with his old pal, Owain Arthur‘s Dwarven Prince Durin IV, but no matter how chummy they’re able to get, the idea of something more in the works keeps both of them on edge. Rounding out the episode, Ismael Cruz Córdova‘s Arondir is allowed to escape his captivity by Adar himself, but only under the condition he deliver a special message to the human survivors not far from danger.

The titular “Great Wave” quickly becomes a metaphor for the paranoia spreading throughout all corners of Middle-earth. All characters are beginning to find themselves afraid of something. That fear, and the anxiety and greed that come with it, are the fuel that keeps The Rings of Power‘s fourth episode ticking. In a fun change of pace, the Lord of the Rings universe is allowed to feel more like a political thriller than a fantasy epic. Granted, it does still look and sound like a fantasy epic. In fact, this episode contains one of the most bone-chilling sequences of the series thus far, with Sophia Nomvete‘s Disa belting a gorgeously haunting musical number as the Dwarves perform an ancient prayer. It’s the show’s ability to switch so effortlessly between moments of grace and terror that keep it so refreshing week in and week out. On an added note – the grand reveal of Adar, an Elven-looking man portrayed by Joseph Mawle, was also expertly done. The flipping of expectations as to how Adar would appear was a wonderful surprise, and one that instantly makes the villain more intriguing.

If there was to be any concern around The Rings of Power, it would have to be for its pacing. Of course, the Lord of the Rings franchise is not exactly known for its swift storytelling, but one has to wonder how long The Rings of Power will wait before it begins answering any of the multiple questions it’s lobbed into the air. It’s not a problem at the moment, but another episode or two of set up without pay off could lead to some viewers starting to tune out. For now, though, the series remains stellar, and viewers remain excited to see new batches of orcs show up on their screens every week.

  • ‘Constantine’ and ‘Madame X’ Dead at HBO Max, Will Be Shopped Elsewhere

‘Constantine’ and ‘Madame X’ Dead at HBO Max, Will Be Shopped Elsewhere

Back in 2020, JJ Abrams signed a massive deal with HBO Max for his production company, Bad Robot. The deal would give him exclusive access to developing projects from the supernatural side of the DC Universe, specifically Justice League Dark. While numerous projects were announced throughout the years, and one seemed to have secured a leading actor, nothing ever became of the deal. Unfortunately, now it looks as though two projects being developed under the deal are no longer moving forward — at least, not at HBO Max.

Upon today’s news that, after seventeen years, a sequel to the Keanu Reeves film, Constantine, is in the works, Variety confirmed that JJ Abrams and Bad Robot’s upcoming Constantine and Madame Xanadu series will halt development at HBO Max. The plan is for the shows to be shopped elsewhere. It is of note that the decision was reportedly not due to creative issues.

This, of course, shouldn’t be entirely surprising. News of the Constantine sequel noted that Abrams would be involved, which could hint that he may have possibly dumped previous plans with the series and could build his Justice League Dark universe from there.

There is still the matter of the Zatanna film, though, which is currently set to be penned by Emerald Fennel who is best known for her award-winning work on Promising Young Woman. It’s unknown if Abrams is involved in that project at all, but his overall deal with WB would suggest that he is indeed involved.

Abrams will work with the original film’s director, Francis Lawrence, and Akiva Goldsman on the Constantine sequel which will see Keanu Reeves return to the titular role. There is currently no word on where the other series will be shopped to or if anyone at all shows interest in the projects.

  • BREAKING: Keanu Reeves to Reunite With Francis Lawrence for ‘Constantine’ Sequel

BREAKING: Keanu Reeves to Reunite With Francis Lawrence for ‘Constantine’ Sequel

Here’s something you may have never guessed: Keanu Reeves is set to once again take on the role of Constantine in an upcoming sequel. He’ll reunite with director Francis Lawrence who helmed the original 2005 adaptation of the popular DC character. Akiva Goldsman is writing the screenplay and is also producing through Weed Road Pictures. J.J. Abrams and Hannah Minghella are also attached to produce the sequel of a film that was released 17 years ago.

There were rumblings around 2020 that they might be interested in doing a sequel but when Abrams started working on his Justice League Dark universe with its own take on John Constantine it seemed like they moved on from the project. The character has seen a resurgence in popularity with an NBC series starring Matt Ryan who would, later on, join the CW’s Arrowverse, and even with The Sandman‘s Johanna Constantine, who was played by Jenna Coleman.

It’ll be interesting to see what this entry means for Abrams series, as it might have quietly been canceled. There’s also the fact that this once again muddles the “a united DC Cinematic Universe” strategy of Warner Bros. Discovery’s CEO David Zaslav. Without any new leadership to map out the project, it seems they’ve been busy mapping out various projects that have no direct connection with each other.

Either way, this is a great surprise for those that have been longing for a sequel and it’s always great to see Reeves return to a role he loved dearly. There’s no exact window yet on when we might expect the project to release but with Lawrence‘s busy schedule there might still be some time before it releases.

  • Sony Delays ‘Madame Web’ and ‘Kraven the Hunter’ Release Dates

Sony Delays ‘Madame Web’ and ‘Kraven the Hunter’ Release Dates

It looks like we’ll have to wait just a little longer for the upcoming Marvel projects from Sony, as they have now pushed back quite a few releases. While they’ve also updated their upcoming schedule to include a new Karate Kid film, which we exclusively revealed just last month, and the sequel to Searching titled Missing (here’s hoping the third one is named Finding), it seems their various Marvel films have also been delayed.

Kraven the Hunter is now eyeing a release on October 6th, 2023, quite a few months away from its initial January 13th release date that same year. It took over Madame Web‘s original release which is now scheduled for 2024 on February 16th. Both films are set to also screen in IMAX. The delay also affected one of its untitled Marvel films which were initially planned for June 7th, 2025 but it is now a July release. Some have theorized this might be the next Spider-Man MCU entry, but there hasn’t been an announcement so far.

Sony is still moving forward with its projects even after Morbius didn’t quite make it the first two rounds it attempted in theaters. It’s uncertain how their relationship stands with Marvel and what the future has in store for Spider-Man. We haven’t heard anything about a new trilogy or even if the character will appear in Sony’s own universe. There are a lot of unknown variables at the moment and we can only hope that an update isn’t too far away.

  • CONFIRMED: Sony Moving Ahead With a New ‘Karate Kid’ Movie

CONFIRMED: Sony Moving Ahead With a New ‘Karate Kid’ Movie

Back in August, we exclusively revealed that Sony Pictures was moving ahead with a new Karate Kid movie. Now, the studio has officially announced a release date for the untitled Karate Kid movie, which is being called a return to the original franchise. Per the outlet, the new Karate Kid movie will hit theaters on June 7th, 2024. While no further details were made available, it’s expected that the kid will serve as the teacher in this new installment.

From what we could gather, the new film will center on a teenage boy named Li. The young student is said to be small for his age, but tough, smart and scrappy. Li is said to be a skilled fighter and a student in Beijing who finds his life uprooted after his mother moves them to Brooklyn, New York. After meeting Mia, a student from his high school, and her father, Victor, at a local pizza restaurant, he’ll soon find his life has changed yet again – for the better.

It’s interesting to see how The Karate Kid has become a franchise of its own over the years. Netflix has seen a lot of success with the spinoff series Cobra Kai which further explored the characters from the original films by taking a closer look at where they are all these years later. This isn’t even the first remake of the film as Jaden Smith had the leading role opposite Jackie Chan back in 2010, which didn’t pick up as much momentum as the original did.

With Cobra Kai going into its sixth season, it remains to be seen whether or not that series will tie back into the new Karate Kid film. However, with a release date set, perhaps we’ll soon learn more about the newest installment.

  • Marvel Studios “Taking a New Approach” With Shira Haas’ Sabra In Response to Online Backlash

Marvel Studios “Taking a New Approach” With Shira Haas’ Sabra In Response to Online Backlash

Not surprising given the recent releases, the latest Marvel Cinematic Universe film is surrounded by controversy online but this time it’s for a different reason than you’d think. During D23, the character of Sabra was introduced and would be played by Shira Haas in the upcoming film Captain America: New World Order. Given the Israel and Palestine conflict, this has led to quite the controversy in addition to the “New World Order” having been used for anti-semites online.

The controversy took its hold online in certain circles and has now led to an official statement by Marvel Studios through an article for The New York Times. It seems that they’ew highlighting that they are “taking a new approach” with the character of Sabra.

While our characters and stories are inspired by the comics. They are always freshly imagined for the screen and today’s audience, and the filmmakers are taking a new approach with the character Sabra who was first introduced in the comics over 40 years ago

It’s hard to say if this jump may have been an assumption on the character’s comic history and Marvel simply wanted to take an existing character to put it in a better spotlight, moving away from its original rather questionable storyline.

In many ways, this was a lose-lose situation for Marvel even if they tried to pull through with it, as reactions occurred before a single glimpse of the actual story came to light. As they haven’t started production yet, it still gave them a chance to maybe tweak a few elements and this statement also serves to hint at that happening.

There’s more to this controversy given the history surrounding the name. Many have made the connection to the Sabra and Shatila massacre when it was first announced. So, while the name was carried over from the comics, it has become associated with a terrible act that occurred in Lebanon back in 1982. We’ll have to see how they tackle this challenge once more news surfaces.
