Marvel Announces New ‘Moon Knight’ Anthology Series

We just got the trailer for the upcoming Moon Knight series heading to Disney+. Naturally, Marvel is using the opportunity to cross-promote with a brand new anthology series, which is the second comic book series for the iconic Marvel character. The four-issue anthology titled Moon Knight: Black, White, and Blood aims to explore the darker side of the titular hero and the one who may replace him.

There are three teams working on individual short stories, such as one being from writer Jonathan Hickman and artist Chris Bachalo. Marc Guggenheim is teaming up with Jorge Fornés while Murewa Ayodele will work with Dotun Akanda. The series is another addition to a series of anthology series with the “Black, White, And” concept. Deadpool, Wolverine, Carnage, and Elektra were the latest series to get an entry in this anthology series. DC also had a similar trend using color naming.

The first issue of the anthology will be made available in April, which is perfect timing, as the Disney+ series will release on March 30th. As the title implies, we might be in for a bloody adventure featuring the Fist of Khonshu and the recently introduced new character of Hunter’s Moon. Even as an anthology, it may offer some additional insight into what the future has in store for Moon Knight.

  • Jensen Ackles Teases Development on a Secret DC Project

Jensen Ackles Teases Development on a Secret DC Project

Jensen Ackles is hot off the success of his long-running series Supernatural. He currently is set to appear in Amazon Prime’s critically acclaimed satire of the superhero genre, The Boys, where he’ll take a very likely antagonistic role. He’s been openly campaigning for a DC role in the past, such as his famous photoshoot as Jason Todd a.k.a. Red Hood. In an interview with Michael Rosenbaum in his Inside of You podcast series, he revealed that he may currently be working on tackling a DC role in the near future.

Well, there’s a DC property that I’m currently developing with Warner Bros. and some other good partners that I’ve got my fingers crossed for, but again I am not going to talk about it. You don’t want to jinx it.

    Jensen Ackles

As he doesn’t give away what exactly they may be adapting, it may be his dream project as the future Red Hood. The Flash is rumored to reimagine the DCEU and it would open up the possibility for Ackles to take on the role of his dreams. The way Rosenbaum asked him, he implied that it was about what role he’s always wanted to tackle and if this project becomes a reality – here’s hoping – he might finally manage to accomplish exactly that.

  • Netflix Developing New Animated Comedy ‘Bad Crimes’, Nicole Byer and Lauren Lapkus to Star

Netflix Developing New Animated Comedy ‘Bad Crimes’, Nicole Byer and Lauren Lapkus to Star

Netflix is bringing in some powerhouse talent for its latest foray into animated comedy. The popular streaming service has ordered a new series titled Bad Crimes from television veterans Greg Daniels, Mike Judge, and Nicole Silverberg. The show, which will star Netflix mainstays Nicole Byer and Lauren Lapkus in the lead roles, will center around the misadventures of two FBI agents who travel across the country to solve grisly murders while juggling their friendship, career ambitions, and a host of romantic suitors.

Bad Crimes will serve as the latest in a long line of successful collaborations from Daniels and Judge, who previously co-created the hit comedy King of the Hill for Fox. This is also not the first time Byer and Lapkus have worked side-by-side, as the pair currently host a podcast together called Newcomers. Every name involved with this project comes backed by an impressive resume.

Aside from the previously mentioned King of the Hill, Daniels is known for developing cultural phenomena on NBC with The Office and Parks & Recreation. Judge is a legend in his own right, having created both Beavis and Butt-Head for MTV and Silicon Valley for HBO and directing the cult favorite comedy film Office Space in 1999. Silverberg is a promising new writer on the scene, fresh off her work on TBS’ Full Frontal with Samantha Bee. As for the voice acting talent, Byer is perhaps most well-known for her hosting gig on Netflix’s Nailed It! while Lapkus gained notoriety for her long-running role on the service’s hit series Orange is the New Black.

  • ‘Fortnite’: Leak Offers First Look at ‘Hawkeye’-Inspired Skins

‘Fortnite’: Leak Offers First Look at ‘Hawkeye’-Inspired Skins

It’s already been a few weeks since Marvel Studios’ last Diseny+ series, Hawkeye, ended its run. We explored the story of Clint Barton and Kate Bishop, as they faced an unlikely challenge in the return of Vincent D’Onofrio‘s Kingpin. It was only a question of time until the new designs of these iconic characters make their way to other media, and it looks like Fortnite had some big plans for the characters that ended up leaking earlier.

@ralisdumb has shared the loading screen for the two new skins, which continues to prove that Epic Games found the perfect animation style for its skins in Fortnite. It seems like they can perfectly adapt any type of medium into the game, as it now includes live-action characters, animation, and who knows what else might get added in the future.

I do love the aesthetic they took to highlight the skins, as it has this neon noir take on the rings. The Disney+ series mostly has a Christmas aesthetic and takes a lot of inspiration from the My Life as a Weapon storyline, which had a flat design. So, the Fortnite take on the design is a great way to not only make the new skins stand out but also give it a unique spin.

  • James Gunn Teases a ‘Peacemaker’ Character Will Return in a “Big DC Movie”

James Gunn Teases a ‘Peacemaker’ Character Will Return in a “Big DC Movie”

Interconnectivity is all the rage when it comes to building your shared universe throughout films and TV series. The DC Extended Universe has been attempting to build one for quite a few years now but has yet to reach the status that other franchises have. Yet, recent rumors hint at a much more cohesive future in store for Warner Bros.’ attempt. Over the past few weeks, we’ve heard rumblings of certain characters popping up in other projects that are set to release within the next few months, and James Gunn has confirmed that to be the case.

In an interview with Collider, while promoting Peacemaker, Gunn was asked how the series connects to the greater DCEU and not only highlights the connectivity between this series and upcoming projects but also highlighted that one character, in particular, is already eyeing a future return.

It [Peacemaker] is part of the DCU, I mean they can use these characters… I mean one of these characters, which people have kind of figured out, one of these characters is used in a future big DC movie thats from here. So we are connected to all of this. Who knows what role these characters are going to play in the future? I mean no one know who the Guardians of The Galaxy were, and then all of a sudden they’re massive players in Infinity War [Avengers] and Endgame [Avengers]. So, who knows whats going to happen with Peacemaker in ten years, five years, or whatever.

    James Gunn

Just a few weeks ago we reported on a rumor that Emilia Harcourt would be making her DCEU return much sooner than expected. If rumors are true, she is set to return in Black Adam, which will release on July 29th. Details on her role describe it as a small role towards the end of the film in which she arrives to recruit a certain someone, although this target is unknown.

  • Murphy’s Murmurs: ‘Kraven the Hunter’

    Murphy’s Murmurs: ‘Kraven the Hunter’

Sony’s Kraven the Hunter is currently set to release on January 13, 2023 and it’s been some time since fans have had any updates on the film. Outside of the film’s star, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, and director, J.C. Chandor, details on the film have been hard to come by. That all should be changing rather soon, however, as it looks like things are set to get started on the project.

Production start dates have always been tentative and now, more than ever, it’s important to keep that in mind, but assuming no delays, it sounds like Kraven the Hunter will begin production in the UK next month. Given the film’s January 2023 release date, it’s a very sensible timeline for principal photography, leaving plenty of time for any additional photography, which is always factored into these projects.

Taylor-Johnson has taken his prep for the role VERY seriously. As fans of the comics know, Kraven is a physically imposing specimen, carrying well over 200 pounds on his frame and having enough strength to tangle with dangerous foes even before he was enhanced through the potions of the voodoo goddess Calypso, who is rumored to be played by Jodie Turner-Smith in the film. Should they follow the comics and juice up the character, he’d be superhumanly strong and word is that Taylor-Johnson has done the work to look the part, having gone to great lengths to transform his body for the role.

Fans caught a quick tease of the character in last act of Spider-Man: No Way Home and with the multiverse now in play, it probably won’t be long before one of the Spideys finds himself tangling with Kraven, giving Sony the chance to adapt The Last Hunt, something that has been discussed and teased as long as there’s been rumors of a Kraven film. We’ll see what role Spidey has to play in the expanding Sony universe and which actor will fill that role.

  • ‘Moon Knight’ Trailer Includes First Look at Khonshu

‘Moon Knight’ Trailer Includes First Look at Khonshu

After a long wait, the first trailer has finally dropped for the upcoming Disney+ series, Moon Knight. Oscar Isaac takes the spotlight as the mentally broken man that is about to uncover his secret identity as the titular hero. In the comics, the character suffers from a multiple personality disorder, which made it difficult for readers to know if everything he witnesses is real. Included in that is his own heroic origin as the messenger for the Egyptian god known as Khonshu.

The 2016 comic run introduced a very eerie design, which saw Kohnshu wearing the Mr. Knight outfit but with a bird skull. It was uncertain if the Disney+ series was going to truly jump into that part of his mythology or keep it for the future. Yet, after the first teaser hinted at the inclusion of humanoid Jackals, it gave us some hope that he’d make an appearance in the series. Completely catching us off guard is the fact that Khonshu even shows up in the first trailer for the series.

    Image

While we don’t get a full look, we definitely see the iconic staff and the skull that adorned his face. He’s not wearing the white suit, as he is seemingly wearing the same outfit that Moon Knight is in throughout the trailer. As such, we might assume that once he appears it always reflects the costume. The Disney+ Day teaser included a reference to Mr. Knight, which could also lead to Khonshu wearing that outfit as well at some point. It’s exciting to see Marvel Studios fully embrace the character’s mythology and hopefully play with the viewer’s perception of reality.

  • Daniel Radcliffe to Play “Weird Al” Yankovic in Upcoming Roku Biopic

Daniel Radcliffe to Play “Weird Al” Yankovic in Upcoming Roku Biopic

Not the kind of news I expected but it looks like Roku’s upcoming biopic of “Weird Al” Yankovic has found its leading star. Harry Potter veteran Daniel Radcliffe has joined the project to bring the musically inclined comedian to life. The biopic titled Weird: The Al Yankovic Story, will explore every facet of his life as teased in the film’s description. Yankovic had the following to say on the casting:

When my last movie UHF came out in 1989, I made a solemn vow to my fans that I would release a major motion picture every 33 years, like clockwork. I’m very happy to say we’re on schedule. And I am absolutely thrilled that Daniel Radcliffe will be portraying me in the film. I have no doubt whatsoever that this is the role future generations will remember him for.

    “Weird Al” Yankovic

The piece includes some fun jokes by the talent involved, such as Eric Appel, who co-wrote the screenplay with Yankovic, sharing that he was forced to hear his life story against his will and then decided it was worth telling in a movie. He’s also set to executive produce and to direct the film, which will be made available exclusively on Roku. Funny Or Die and Tango are producing the feature, which is eyeing a production start in February.
