  • Hasbro Reveals Marvel Legends Wave for ‘The Marvels’

Hasbro Reveals Marvel Legends Wave for ‘The Marvels’

In another universe, Marvel Studios’ The Marvels would be hitting theaters in less than 2 months. In this universe, Disney moved the release date from July 28th to November 11th, but not before the gears on the machine that is merchandising had already been set in motion. Today, Hasbro released the first look at one of the many branches of merchandise associated with Marvel Studios projects: Marvel Legends.

In has to be one of Hasbro’s most hodgepodge waves to date, The Marvels wave of Marvel Legends includes only 3 figures from the film (Captain Marvel, Ms. Marvel and Photon) while the other 4 figures (Commander Rogers, Heroes Return Iron Man, Karnak and Marvel Boy) and the Build-A-Figure (Amadeus Cho’s Totally Awesome Hulk) are all comic based.

While an argument could be made that each of the comic-based figures are Captain Marvel and/or Ms. Marvel adjacent, it’s surprising nonetheless to see Marvel Boy and Karnak get their own figures. Karnak’s inclusion could bode well for fans of Marvel Comics Inhumans as it could indicate that Hasbro may start pushing out individual Inhumans over the next few years.

As for Amadeus Cho’s Totally Awesome Hulk, his connection to Kamala Khan as a fellow member of the first modern-day iteration of The Champions seems to explain his inclusion here. It’s worth noting, however, that Cho was long-rumored to be in The Marvels.

Pre-orders for the wave will go live on June 7th at 1:00 PM ET on Hasbro Pulse, Amazon and other online retailers.

‘WandaVision’s Jimmy Woo Gets His Own Marvel Legends Figure, Available for Pre-Order

The Marvel Studios’ series WandaVision may have ended its run on Disney+ nearly a year and a half ago, but the cultural impact the show has had on the Marvel Cinematic Universe fanbase continues to be evident. Now, a supporting character of the show is getting their own Marvel Legends action figure.

Marvel Legends has made available for pre-order an action figure of Agent Jimmy Woo. Played by Randall Park, Woo first made an appearance in 2015’s Ant-Man before having a larger role in WandaVision. Woo has been a fan favorite in the MCU even with his limited screen time. The Woo figure joins Marvel Legends figures of the Scarlet Witch and White Vision from WandaVision. Little by little, Hasbro’s Marvel Legends Infinity Ultron BAF wave continues to be revealed. The wave, which already includes Kate Bishop, Clint Barton, Moon Knight and Mr. Knight figures based on the Disney Plus streaming series, has now added and MCU-inspired Ms. Marvel figure.

The figure gives fans a great look at Kamala Khan’s Ms. Marvel costume, something that has only been fully glimpsed through set photos to date.

  • Leaked 2022 Marvel Legends Wave to Feature Quake

Leaked 2022 Marvel Legends Wave to Feature Quake

Near the end of 2021, a pretty good-sized leak revealed many of this year’s upcoming Marvel Legends waves. Among the figures mentioned in the leak were Sleepwalker and D’Spayre, who turned out to be part of the Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness wave that was recently revealed. Now, the same leaker, YouTuber Rektangular, has some updated information on another wave.

Rektangular’s original information indicated that a comic-based Avengers wave would be hitting shelves in September of this year. It now appears that wave has been moved up to April, meaning it’ll be available for pre-order soon, and with the move comes more information about which figures collectors can expect. According to Rektangular, the wave will contain the following seven figures:

    Thor
    Iron Man
    Quake
    Blue Marvel
    Speedball
    Madame Hydra
    U.S. Agent

The inclusion of Quake is sure to get fans of Agents of S.H,I,E.L.D. speculating about Chloe Bennet’s return to the role; however, the wave is comic-based and not related to any of Marvel Studios upcoming projects, so this figure should not be taken as an indication of her joining the MCU. Collectors should still be excited though, as this is the first time the character has been made available in the Legends line. Blue Marvel and Speedball will also make their first appearances as Legends, with Speedball joining fellow New Warriors Night Thrasher and Firestar as characters who have recently been produced.

  • Marvel Legends Packaging Provides the Best Look Yet at ‘Multiverse of Madness’ Variant

Marvel Legends Packaging Provides the Best Look Yet at ‘Multiverse of Madness’ Variant

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness will see Stephen Strange explore new territory in the MCU when it hits theaters this May. The recent teaser for the film shows Strange exploring the multiverse and, in the process, running into Variants of himself. Recently, one of those Variants, Defender Strange, was revealed by way of a Target Exclusive Marvel Legends figure. Now a new image, first shared by Twitter user @eljaunleon, gives us our best look yet at the Variant.

The Variant of Strange, who was seen briefly in the teaser, is based, at least aesthetically, on the character as he appeared in Matt Fraction and Terry Dodson’s 2011 comic book series, The Defenders. That series, which ran for 12 issues, saw Strange team up with Silver Surfer, Namor, the Red She-Hulk and Iron Fist and ended, ironically enough, with Strange altering time to prevent the destruction of the universe. At the time it was being developed, Fraction teased that the series would “explain everything that has ever happened in the Marvel Universe”, so referencing it in a film that might attempt to do the same seems logical.

The teaser only shows Defender Strange for the briefest of moments, so there’s no telling what his role in the film is or what other Defenders he might or might not be working with in his universes. To know that, we’ll have to wait to see how things unfold when Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness hits theaters on May 6, 2022.

  • Marvel Legends “Defender Strange” Confirms a Third Strange Variant in ‘Multiverse of Madness’

Marvel Legends “Defender Strange” Confirms a Third Strange Variant in ‘Multiverse of Madness’

For some time now, Marvel Studios has unfortunately allowed the first look at characters from many of their upcoming projects to come from either merchandise leaks or pre-orders. That is again the case for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness as first looks at new wave of Marvel Legends and a Target Exclusive have now made their way online.

Of great interest is the Target Exclusive “Defender Strange” figure. The presence of the figure confirms not only a previous leak relating to upcoming Funkos, but also leaked plot points about the upcoming film. In both cases, “Defender Strange” represents a THIRD variant of Stephen Strange present in the film.

“Defender Strange” joins normie Strange and Strange Supreme (who is reportedly seen briefly in the first look at Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness attached to Spider-Man: No Way Home) as variants of the character that appear as the film explores the multiverse. Strange Supreme was first seen in What If…? and “Defender Strange” seems to be based on the character’s look in Matt Fraction’s Defenders. With a trip through the multiverse ahead, there’s no telling how many variants might appear!

  • New Toy Leak Indicates Sleepwalker and D’Spayre Among the ‘Multiverse of Madness’ Wave Figures

New Toy Leak Indicates Sleepwalker and D’Spayre Among the ‘Multiverse of Madness’ Wave Figures

Very few people cover the future Marvel Legends wave on the level of YouTuber Rektangular. His channel is full of leaks and updates of any kind, which makes it worth a follow if you’re a collector. In his most recent update, Rektangular spilled the beans on what to expect from Hasbro’s Marvel Legends collection for 2022.

Obviously, the further out the waves, the less info that’s available, but Rektangular seemed very certain about what to expect from the first two waves set to launch in 2022. The best part is that both will feature figures from upcoming MCU films.

The first wave of Legends is currently scheduled for a January release and will feature characters from Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. The wave will feature a mix of seven MCU and comic book characters who are currently only known by the following code names:

    • Runes
    • Bleeker
    • Bleeper
    • Stripes
    • Master
    • Sleep
    • Dreamy

According to Rektangular, two of those figures will be comic book sculpts of Sleepwalker and D’Spayre. A digital rendering of D’Spayre, who is a demon and one of the Fear Lords that feed upon the souls of humans for power, leaked some time ago. However, this is the first mention (to my knowledge) of Sleepwalker joining the wave. A relatively obscure character, he has a bit of a cult following and has taken on the Fear Lords, specifically Nightmare, in the comics. Of course, these characters being in the wave is in no way an indication that they will appear in the film.

It’s likely that Sleepwalker and D’Spayre are “Sleepy” and “Dreamy” while the other characters are from the film. Given what we know, it’s possible that Wanda is “Runes”, Strange is Bleeker (a reference to the NYC Sanctum’s location), America Chavez is “Stripes” and Wong is “Master.” That just leaves “Bleeper”, who could be Rintrah. Keep in mind this is the first wave and won’t be spoilery, so Rintrah seems safer than say members of the rumored Illuminati.

April will reportedly see the release of a 7-figure wave featuring characters from Thor: Love and Thunder that we recently covered here. According to Rektangular, the rest of the year will see 6 additional waves released:

    • April: Vintage wave
    • May: X-Men wave
    • June: Classic wave
    • September: Avengers wave
    • September: Black Panther: Wakanda Forever wave
    • October: Avenger wave

It’s likely that characters from Marvel Studios’ streaming series She-Hulk, Moon Knight, and Ms. Marvel will be sprinkled into some of the waves listed above. It’s also possible that additional waves could be planned. Check out Rektangular’s report below and give him a follow if you’re into such things.
