  • ‘Nobody’ Producer Confirms Sequel Will Film Next Year

‘Nobody’ Producer Confirms Sequel Will Film Next Year

Bob Odenkirk is back in the butt-kicking business. Last year, the fan-favorite actor starred in Nobody, an original action film by John Wick producers David Leitch and Kelly McCormick and director Ilya Naishuller. The story centered around Odenkirk‘s Hutch Mansell, a former government assassin who is inspired to come out of his dull retirement when a group of mob-affiliated burglars threatens his family. Nobody quickly became a surprise hit with audiences, and in August, Leitch stated he was inspired to work on a script for a potential sequel. That was the last update fans had received on the idea until this week when McCormick revealed Nobody 2 is definitely happening and will begin filming as soon as next year.

The news came while McCormick was promoting 87North Production’s latest project, Violent Night, which is now in theaters. Speaking exclusively with Collider, the producer explained that the hope is for Nobody 2 to start rolling cameras by the end of 2023:

We hope to make it [Nobody 2’s production] next year, so fingers crossed. So our theory is you don’t need to make a good sequel just to make a sequel. We need to make a great sequel. And so it’s about making sure that we get it right. And if we do, I think there’s a lot of hope that we can go next year.

    Kelly McCormick

Of course, McCormick did not spill any information on the sequel’s plot, but it’s safe to say Odenkirk will return to his role and probably kill some more bad guys. Nobody ended with a teaser that hinted Christopher Lloyd and RZA, who play Hutch’s father and brother, respectively, would have bigger roles in a possible follow-up, a plotline that may be too good for Leitch and company to pass up when the time comes.

  • Sofia Boutella Has Wrapped ‘Rebel Moon’ After One Year of Filming

Sofia Boutella Has Wrapped ‘Rebel Moon’ After One Year of Filming

Zack Snyder‘s Rebel Moon is closer to reality than ever before. The next cinematic epic from the Legend of the Guardians: Owls of Ga’Hoole director has officially wrapped filming for its lead actress, Sofia Boutella, and is presumably drawing close to the finish line. Boutella shared the news herself on Instagram, posting an image of the clapper from her final day on set and revealing just how long she spent working on the project. According to the post’s caption, the Kingsman breakout spent 152 days in front of the camera, over the course of a full year. She closed her comments with a simple sentimental message, “I left a big piece of my heart up there,” followed by a series of moon-themed emojis that represent the film.

Rebel Moon revolves around Boutella‘s Kora, a young woman with a mysterious past who seeks out intergalactic warriors to help save a peaceful colony from a tyrannical Regent Balisarius. The movie began as a pitch to Lucasfilm, with Snyder intending for the story to take place in the Star Wars universe. However, the creative’s more mature vision for a galaxy far, far away never made it past the idea stage, and Snyder eventually redeveloped the premise as an original film. Rebel Moon also stars Ray Fisher, Charlie Hunnam, Djimon Hounsou, Anthony Hopkins, Cary Elwes, Corey Stoll, Jena Malone, Cleopatra Coleman, and Ed Skrein as part of its star-studded ensemble cast. It will be given a limited theatrical release before dropping directly on Netflix, similar to the recent distribution of Rian Johnson‘s Glass Onion.

Rebel Moon does not currently have a release date.

  • RUMOR: Marvel Studios Long-Rumored ‘Scarlet Witch’ Spinoff Not Happening After All

RUMOR: Marvel Studios Long-Rumored ‘Scarlet Witch’ Spinoff Not Happening After All

There have been rumors after rumors on Wanda Maximoff getting her own project at some point. WandaVision was Marvel Studios’ first venture into Disney+ and has seemingly spawned two spinoffs with Agatha: Coven of Chaos and the recently reported Vision Quest. Yet, according to The DisInsider’s latest Rumor of the Week–this time shared via an article rather then their usual podcast–it seems that the long-rumored Scarlet Witch spinoff project is not currently in any form of development.

As they shared, it’s a “Rumor of the Week” and it could still be in an early form of development. Of course, they may want to simply focus primarily on the current projects that are already continuing the story set up in WandaVision, especially after Wanda was seemingly killed off Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. We know that it’s very unlikely and DisInsider’s Derek Cornell does hint that Elizabeth Olsen may appear in at least one episode of Agatha.

He also believes she’ll be back in Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and Secret Wars. So, perhaps one of the spinoff projects will lead into her return and we find out what happened to the Scarlet Witch after the events of that film. They have many possibilites in how they expand the Marvel Cinematic Universe and there’s always a possibility to return to this project at a later point. She’s an important part of the multiverse concept in the comicsa, and the Multiverse Saga has just begun.

  • CCXP: ‘Indana Jones 5’s Title Finally Revealed

CCXP: ‘Indana Jones 5’s Title Finally Revealed

There have been a lot of theories on the web about what exactly might be the subtitle for the latest entry of Indiana Jones. For quite some time, Lucasfilm and director James Mangold have simply referred it as Indiana Jones, which is a possibility given how some film continuations simply share the same title as the first entry, such as the new Scream film. Yet, it seems that during CCXP 22, we’ve finally gotten a title.

It seems the film will go with Indiana Jones: Dial of Destiny. What exactly that “dial” is will haunt our theories until it releases in theaters, but it’s great to see the naming trend continue for the franchise. Destiny is also a fitting addition if you consider that this story will explore events from Jones’ use connect with the return of the Nazis now in the middle of the Space Race. Perhaps that dial could be the answer to who wins.

  • Mena Massoud Offers an Update on ‘Aladdin 2’

Mena Massoud Offers an Update on ‘Aladdin 2’

After the live-action take on Aladdin proved to be yet another success for Disney, a sequel was officially announced as being in development back in February 2020. Unfortunately, since then, things have been relatively quiet regarding Aladdin 2. While promoting his latest project, Amazon Freevee’s Hotel for the Holidays, Mena Massoud, who plays Aladdin, was asked to provide an update on the project, and it seems as though the sequel has stalled out a bit.

“I don’t know that there is movement. There was a change with the writers, and they are working on a brand new draft. That’s all I know. If ‘Aladdin 2’ happens, that’s fantastic. I think it should happen,” he said. “Dan Lin and Jonathan Eirich of Rideback Productions, who do the “Lego” movies and “Aladdin,” want to make sure they get this right. So if we do see “Aladdin 2,” it’s not going to be based off the animated version at all. This is going to be a brand new original story.”

The Aladdin sequel doesn’t appear to be the only project undergoing changes. Billy Magnussen revealed back in May that the Disney+ spinoff centered around his character, Prince Anders, was still in development but undergoing rewrites. “It’s in development. We are in the stages of rewrites right now, and it’s still moving forward,” the actor revealed at the time.

Aladdin, which was a misfire among critics, was a box office success for Disney having earned $1.05 billion at the worldwide box office. The film, directed by Guy Ritchie, starred Massoud, Naomi Scott and Will Smith.
