  • Summer Game Fest: ‘Nier Automata’ 2B Costume Heading to ‘Fall Guys’

Summer Game Fest: ‘Nier Automata’ 2B Costume Heading to ‘Fall Guys’

It seems that the Nier franchise keeps growing in popularity, as it was just revealed that the iconic outfit of Nier Automata‘s 2B is heading to the popular multiplayer game, Fall Guys. We’ve seen various pop culture-inspired costumes throughout its runtime and, at this point, it’s hard to imagine which franchise hasn’t added a reference to Nier at this point. The trailer also seems to tease penguins in the design of the alien machines that invaded Earth in the game with a unique background. It would be great to get a unique level inspired by the game, but t seems it mainly is focusing on releasing the costume.

It’ll be interesting if we get more character design reveals during the upcoming E3 event, as they build up to a bigger showcase of the new experience heading our way. Luckily, @Niandra_ managed to get high-quality screenshots of the character designs.

  • J.J. Abrams’ ‘Portal’ Film Still in Active Development

J.J. Abrams’ ‘Portal’ Film Still in Active Development

Valve has offered some iconic gaming franchises over the years. Yet, as they continue their tradition of avoiding the third entry of their big franchises, they at least seem to be allowing them to continue through other media. During the press day for Super 8’s 4K release, director J.J. Abrams offered some details on his upcoming game adaptation of the iconic Portal franchise. IGN got a chance to talk to the director, who offered a considerable update on the project.

We actually do have a script that’s being written for the Portal movie now at [Warner Bros.]. We’re really excited about the take and the pitch, so it feels like that thing’s finally on the rails.

It looks like the film won’t release anytime soon, but it’s great to know they are still ready to explore Aperture Science’s offices. There are no details if it will take place in the same timeline as the first two entries in the franchise or even re-tell the original’s story. We might even get a closer look at how Aperture fell apart and how GlaDOS took over.

There is a lot of potentials and the film will hopefully stick to the franchise’s ironic sense of humor. Here’s hoping we might even get the return of Stephen Merchant‘s Wheatley from Portal 2. Whatever direction they might take, there is a lot of potential bringing this franchise to the silver screen and hopefully, Abrams will avoid the game adaptation curse we’ve seen throughout the years drag down these projects.

There are some exciting things in the works, and I cannot wait to get my hands on an Omega-Level Threat. We’ve been anxiously awaiting the endgame content that got delayed due to the ongoing pandemic. It’ll be interesting to see what it adds to the game and how it may change the way we tackle these missions with our favorite Marvel heroes. Also, the mention of the implementation of more “Marvel DNA” in the future is an exciting prospect, which I hope they can talk about shortly.
