  • First ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ Synopsis Reveals When the Film Is Set, Teases “Web of Mystery”

First ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ Synopsis Reveals When the Film Is Set, Teases “Web of Mystery”

As the wait for the first trailer for Spider-Man: Brand New Day drags on, a new synopsis for the film has made its way online courtesy of a Penguin Random House book.

The synopsis of “The Art of the Movie” published in association with Marvel Studios. Assuming its accurate, the most interesting tidbit to be gleaned from it is that the events of the fourth installment in the Spider-Man franchise will be set in 2028.

Four years have gone by since we last caught up with our friendly neighborhood hero. Peter Parker is no more, but Spider-Man is at the top of his game keeping New York City safe. Things are going well for our anonymous hero until an unusual trail of crimes pulls him into a web of mystery larger than he’s ever faced before. In order to take on what’s ahead, Spider-Man not only needs to be at the top of his physical and mental game, but he must also be prepared to face the repercussions of his past!

According to the book, Spider-Man: Brand New Day will take place four years after the events of Spider-Man: No Way Home which was set in 2024. With the MCU’s current events as seen in Captain America: Brave New World and Thunderbolts taking place in 2027, the newest Spidey film will be the furthest out narrative thread.

The synopsis also teases a “web of mystery” and a test to Peter’s “mental game” which may well hint at the identity of Sadie Sink’s character.

  • Scorpion’s Mech Suit Revealed as ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ Leaks Continue

Scorpion’s Mech Suit Revealed as ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ Leaks Continue

Nine years after teasing Mac Gargan’s vengeful vendetta against Spider-Man, Michael Mando is returning in Spider-Man: Brand New Day and it looks like hell is coming with him!

Following recent leaks which teased Gargan’s Scorpion suit, a fully detailed look at Mando in his new gear has finally emerged online.

Though it’s not an exact replica, the suit looks to have taken some inspiration from the one worn by the character during the “Big Time” arc of Dan Slott‘s Amazing Spider-Man. Following his time as one of Norman Osborn’s Dark Avengers, Gargan was serving a prison sentence on the Raft. He was broken out by Allistaire Smythe and given an all-new, all-different Scorpion suit and turned loose with other newly-created Spider Slayers to take down J. Jonah Jameson. And of course, Spidey intervened…

Notably, Gargan’s Brand New Day mech suit is represented here without a helmet but rumors and reports that came before the leaked image indicated that one will indeed be present when the character is fully suited up in the film.

  • First Look at Several ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ Villains Emerge Ahead of Rumored Trailer Release Date

First Look at Several ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ Villains Emerge Ahead of Rumored Trailer Release Date

Without even having seen an officially released trailer, fans are starting to believe Spider-Man: Brand New Day will be something special.

It’s long been known that the fourth installment in Marvel Studios and Sony’s collaborative Spider-Man franchise will feature a multitude of villains but in recent days, merchandise and promotional art for the project has emerged, providing first looks of various quality for some of the key antagonists. A backpack teased the designs of Boomerang, Scorpion and the Hulk–all present as shadowy background figures behind a clear look at Spidey. Now, new art has been uncovered, providing a more detailed look at many of the film’s baddies.

Possibly the most impressive reveal comes from what looks to an unfinished shot from the film, providing the first look at  Tombstone, played by Marvin Jones III. Though fans are skeptical, multiple accounts are standing behind its legitimacy.

Additonally, artwork for Brand New Day surfaced revealing the designs for Tarantula, Boomerang and the new-look Hulk, who will reportedly become a big problem for the Webhead.

In other news, fans won’t be waiting too much longer for the first teaser, according to director Destin Daniel Cretton. “I think it’s so funny how people really want a trailer. Of course it’s gonna come. It’s gonna be really good when it comes. It’s coming,” said Cretton in an interview with Majic 102.1.

When will then be now? Insider Cryptic HD Quality, who has long been a reliable source of intel on trailers, shared that he’s heard rumblings of a March release for the teaser.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day is slated to swing into theaters on July 31, 2026.

  • Hi-Res Look at Merch Provides First Look at Troublesome Trio from ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’

Hi-Res Look at Merch Provides First Look at Troublesome Trio from ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’

With just over five months until the release of Spider-Man: Brand New Day, Sony has yet to release so much as a teaser trailer for the all-new, all-different fourth installment in the franchise. Fans have been treated to plenty of photos and videos from the set, however, and now as retailees begin to prepare for merchandise hitting their shelves, a first look at three of the film’s characters has found its way online.

After low-res photos of a backpack made the rounds recently, Twitter user @JuanEditzs provided a higher-resolution look at the bag, which provided clear-but-shadowy first looks at a trip of characters set to cause trouble for Peter Parker in the upcoming film.

Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk, Michael Mando’s Scorpion and Boomerang–recently rumored to be played by Tom Holland‘s brother, Harry–can all be seen by zooming in on the pack.

Mando‘s Mac Gargan–who will return to the series for the first time since Spider-Man: Homecoming–has been rumored to be sporting a suit that’s a mix of the classic comic book Scorpion suit and the one seen in Insomniac’s Spider-Man video game franchise. The tail on the suit from the film can clearly be seen to have some significant mechanical structure to it.

The appearance of Boomerang on the bag confirms the character will appear after he was first reported to be in the film in May 2025. It will be interesting to see if first-time franchise director Destin Daniel Cretton has chosen to the recent relationship dynamic between Parker and Boomerang that saw the two as roommates with Boomerang unaware of Parker’s alter ego.

And as for the Hulk, it’s long been reported that Brand New Day will feature a more savage Green Goliath doing battle with Spidey. A recent Lego set leak seems to have confirmed this and the shadowy appearance of the character on the bag, where he looms behind Spidey, hardly makes the case he’ll be a hero.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day will hit theaters on July 31st!

  • New Rumors Add Even More Baddies to the Cast of ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’

It’s clear that Tom Holland‘s Wall-Crawler will have his hands full in Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Michael Mando will be suiting up as classic Spidey villain Scorpion and Tramell Tillman will be heading up Damage Control’s as the mutie-hating William Metzger, providing plenty of problems for Peter Parker. Throw in crime bosses Tombstone and Fredrick Foswell, Tombstone, Boomerang and Ramrod, along with a rampaging Hulk and, of course, Frank Castle punishing scum and it becomes clear that Brand New Day will be a very different film from any of its MCU predecessors.

First-time franchise director Destin Daniel Cretton looks to be building an entire world around the Webslinger unlike anything that’s been done in the genre to date. And in doing so, he may be preparing to introduce one of the most comic book locations in all of Marvel Comics: The Bar with No Name.

A slew of rumors made the rounds over the weekend, all of which claimed that the already impressive roster of villains in the new film would be further filled out than fans had been less to believe. Baddies such as The Enforcers, Miles Warren–aka the Jackal–and 8-Ball were each name dropped by industry insiders, adding to an already impressive cast of rogues. And with Cretton reportedly sticking close to the comics, The Bar with No Name is the perfect establishment to bring them all together while they lick their wounds.

Though it first appeared in Captain America #318, The Bar with No Name has frequently been seen in the pages of Spidey comics. While rumors of a montage of Spidey fighting villains have circulated for some time, it would be FAR more entertaining to see the hero track one of his foes to the bar only to find himself battling dozens of his enemies.

  • Marvel Studios Reportedly Has Venomous Designs for the New Spidey Trilogy

Marvel Studios Reportedly Has Venomous Designs for the New Spidey Trilogy

After less than a decade of (at best) half-assed efforts to create a Spider-Man Universe without a Spider-Man, Sony finally threw in the towel afterKraven the Hunter hit the screen as a lame duck in 2024. When it was all said and done, the so-called SSU gave fans some of the worst superhero films in the history of the genre; however, an argument can be made that Tom Hardy‘s Venom trilogy provided at least a few highlights.

In the wake of the death of the SSU, rumors that Hardy might jump fully into the MCU as part of a wild King in Black crossover took flight and captured the interest of the chronically online. Whether  that cosmic crossover was ever truly in the cards–Venom franchise creative veteran Kelly Marcel seemed to tease it at one point–those plans took a back seat to whatever director Destin Daniel Cretton cooked up for the fourth installment in Sony and Disney’s collaborative Spidey franchise…which may still include a symbiote.

According to industry insider Daniel Richtman, Marvel Studios has designs on its “own take on the Symbiote for this new trilogy.

Perhaps not coincidentally, in a pair of Instagram stories shared earlier this year, Michael Mando–who is stepping back into the role of Mac Gargan for the first time since Spider-Man: Homecomingteased the potential for Gargan to not only suit up as Scorpion but also become a host for the Venom symbiote.

Shortly afterwards, Mando doubled down on teasing the potential monstrous turn for his character, sharing a photo of Scorpion merging with the alien symbiote.

In the comics, Mac Gargan’s tenure as Venom is distinguished primarily by its sheer brutality and a complete lack of the moral “Lethal Protector” code that defined Eddie Brock. Unlike other hosts who viewed the symbiote as a partner or a tool for justice, Gargan experienced a parasitic relationship fueled by the career criminal’s base instincts. This led to a version of the character defined by cannibalism and animalistic savagery; Gargan famously gave in to the suit’s hunger for human flesh, consuming enemies and even Skrulls during his time on the Dark Avengers. This loss of control was often reflected in his physical appearance, as he was frequently depicted as a massive, hulking monster with human eyes visible through the symbiote’s mask, highlighting the terrifying reality of a man being swallowed by an addiction-like bond.

Beyond his personality, Gargan’s Venom was unique because of the biological synergy between the alien and his original Scorpion powers. He maintained his “Scorpion-sense” and enhanced durability, often manifesting a massive, prehensile symbiote tail that allowed him to strike with the lethal precision of his former namesake. This made him one of the most physically formidable iterations of the character, possessing a raw power level that surpassed Brock’s. His unique role reached its peak when he masqueraded as a sinister version of Spider-Man under Norman Osborn’s leadership. By using chemical suppressants to shrink the symbiote’s mass, he was able to hide his monstrous nature in plain sight, serving as a government-sanctioned “hero” while secretly remaining a feral killer.

Of course, there’s always the very good possibility that Marvel will simply wait until Avengers: Secret Wars to introduce its own version of the symbiote, paying homage 1984’s Secret Wars when Peter Parker found himself wearing a new black suit that was revealed to be Venom.

  • Sadie Sink’s ‘Spider-Man Brand New Day’ Character May Have Been Inspired by One of Mark Millar’s Ultimate Creations

Sadie Sink’s ‘Spider-Man Brand New Day’ Character May Have Been Inspired by One of Mark Millar’s Ultimate Creations

Marvel Studios’ Infinity Saga was widely influenced by Marvel Comics initial Ultimate Universe. While the studio famously doesn’t directly adapt anything from the comics–and more recently has prompted its creatives to stay away from them entirely in some instances–the characters that built the MCU shares more than just a passing resemblance with their Earth-1610 counterparts. As the studio prepares to move on from its Multiverse Saga and into the next phase in which it will introduce its own team of X-Men, the Ultimate Universe may once again provide some inspiration.

While the identity of Sadie Sink‘s Spider-Man: Brand New Day character remains unconfirmed by Marvel and Sony, social media insiders have begun indicating that the Stranger Things star will be portraying Earth-616’s Jean Grey. Though rumors have had Sink playing a half dozen different characters, industry insider Jeff “The In” Sneider first pegged Sink as a front runner to play Grey months before she was cast in the new Spidey film. Should that indeed be the case, it’s possible that this iteration of the character may have a little more in common with her Earth-1610 counterpart than with the original Marvel Girl.

Sink‘s character–whoever she ends up being–is clearly a bit of a street urchin who is certainly not on the right side of the law. That’s a far cry from Earth-616’s Jean; however, the original Ultimate Jean Grey, created by Mark Millar, had a little more of a difficult past before joining Charles Xavier’s team of mutant heroes.

Ultimate Jean was far more caustic and contemptuous than the original version and the early emergence of her tremendous powers resulted in her being committed to a psychiatric hospital. Tormented by visions of the Phoenix, Millar’s Jean was much more of a “tortured youth” and that seems to be the case with Sink’s character who, by the way,  appeared to be dressed in Jean’s traditional green and yellow colors when she was seen on set.

Of course, with all the misinformation out there, it does seem as though nobody is quite sure who Sink is playing in the new film. But some things such her knowledge that Peter is Spidey and the shape-shifting abilities (Earth-1610’s Jean frequently invaded people’s minds and made them see her as someone other than who she was) do line up with the possibility.

  • Fan Favorite Netflix Defenders-verse Character Reportedly Joins the Cast of ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’

Fan Favorite Netflix Defenders-verse Character Reportedly Joins the Cast of ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’

Following the creative retooling of Daredevil: Born Again‘s first season, the Netflixification of the MCU’s street-level storytelling on Disney Plus was underway. Deborah Ann Woll, Elden Henson, Wilson Bethel, Jon Bernthal and Ayelet Zurer all took on major roles AFTER the overhaul and the back half of the series started down a dark and familiar path that will continue in what’s begun to sound more like Daredevil Season 4 than Daredevil: Born Again Season 2, especially with the return of Krysten Ritter as Jessica Jones.

Bernthal‘s Frank Castle playing a major role in Spider-Man: Brand New Day marks the first time that a Marvel Netflix character will feature in a Marvel Studios film. The powers that be have made it clear that this version of The Punisher won’t be quite as bloodthirsty as fans have grown accustomed to (they’re saving that for The Punisher Special Presentation) but he also won’t be the only Netflixer making an appearance.

According to insider Daniel Richtman, Rosario Dawson will appear as Claire Temple, aka Night Nurse, reprising her role from the Netflix Defenders-verse projects.

Fans are already beginning to believe that Dawson’s appearance will be part of a recreation of a scene depicted in Marvel Comics Civil War #5 in which Castle saved Spidey from an ambush by Jack O’Lantern and the Jester before rushing him to the hospital for medical assistance.

After patching up Matt Murdock in Daredevil Season 1, Dawson’s Night Nurse  popped up in Jessica Jones Season 1 and Daredevil Season 2 before taking on a much larger role in Luke Cage Season 1, Iron Fist Season 1 and The Defenders. In the past, Dawson has shared her willingness to return to the role and fans will certainly be happy to have her join and already jam-packed installment in the Spidey franchise.

  • One of Spidey’s First Foes Reportedly Joins the Fray in ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’

One of Spidey’s First Foes Reportedly Joins the Fray in ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’

Principal photography may have wrapped on Spider-Man: Brand New Day and as the project moves fully into post-production, news is likely to continue to emerge. And on that front, an insider who has dished out plenty of reliable information about the next installment in the Spidey franchise has come through with another interesting tidbit.

According to insider Daniel Richtman, one of Spider-Man’s first foes, crime boss Frederick Foswell, will join the long list of baddies set to torment Peter Parker in Spider-Man: Brand New Day.

Known as the Big Man, Foswell first appeared in 1963’s Amazing Spider-Man #10, running New York’s criminal underworld from the shadows while working as a reporter at the Daily Bugle. While Big Man never rose to the same heights as Wilson Fisk, his presence went a long way in establishing street-level criminals as key players in Spidey’s story.

Foswell will join Tombstone and Scorpion in antagonizing Parker, who will also have to deal with Tramell Tillman‘s DODC director, Frank Castle’s brand of vigilante justice and a rampaging Hulk in addition to Sadie Sink’s mystery character. While it hasn’t been confirmed yet, it would seem as though Season 2 of Daredevil: Born Again might end with Wilson Fisk removed from his position as the Kingpin of Crime, leaving a power vacuum for characters such as Foswell and Tombstone to fill.

  • ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ to Feature One of Marvel’s Most Fascinating Secret Societies

‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ to Feature One of Marvel’s Most Fascinating Secret Societies

As was the case with Spider-Man: No Way Home, Spider-Man: Brand New Day is shaping up to be one wild ride. While it doesn’t appear as though director Destin Daniel Cretton is adapting any one particular story arc or beloved Spidey comic, he seems to be pulling from the character’s greatest hits.

From what can be gleaned about the film from set photos and well-sourced reports, Tom Holland’s Spidey will be overwhelmed in the film, dealing not only with a slew of street-level thugs and crime bosses but also with a bloodthirsty Frank Castle and a rampaging Hulk. And now…undead ninjas.

Following up on previous reports that a horde of ninjas were involved in a prison break scene filmed some time ago, insider Daniel Richtman has confirmed the identity of the group and they are who we thought they were: The Hand.

One of Marvel Comics’ most well-declveloped and fascinating secret societies, The Hand played an overarching role in Netflix’s Defenders-verse series, though they weren’t portrayed particularly true to their comic book counterparts. Given Cretton’s ambitious approach to Brand New Day, it seems likely that will be rectified. Richtman’s report indicates that they’ll be decked out in their traditional red shinobi shōzoku in the film, which will be a big jump from barely being able to see them on screen in Daredevil. But, who’s in charge of the occult assassins these days?
