Production on Spider-Man: Brand New Day may have slowed a bit following Tom Holland‘s concussion but even with the star on the mend, the show went on. Now with Holland back in action, a new batch of set photos has hit social media, revealing one of the film’s villains.
Recent photos from the set revealed a major set piece involving a helicopter that fans believe may ultimately pay homage to a video game scene. While that may be true, the new photos reveal that the chopper is carrying Michael Mando‘s Mac Gargan, who is returning after a near decade-long absence following his appearance in Spider-Man: Homecoming.
Mando’s return to the franchise was revealed by trade reports in August and the actor spent some time teasing a potential monstrous turn for his character shortly after, leading to theories that Gargan will sport both a comic-accurate Scorpion suit and become a host for the Klyntar symbiote left behind by Tom Hardy’s Eddie Brock.
The photos show Mando‘s Gargan in the same white prison scrubs he was wearing in the post-credit scene to Spider-Man: Homecoming. That detail likes up with rumors about a major chase scene involving Jon Bernthal‘s Frank Castle trying to take out Gargan with Spidey acting as an interloper.
