  • Marvel Studios President Teases MCU’s New Saga Will Become Clearer Soon

Marvel Studios President Teases MCU’s New Saga Will Become Clearer Soon

Many have been wondering what exactly the current Marvel Cinematic Universe Saga has been about. Phase 4 of the long-running franchise took a few new turns to keep things fresh while also introducing a variety of characters that seemingly have no direct correlation. Yet, Marvel Studios’ Kevin Feige promises that all will be made clear very soon, especially as Phase 4 is nearing its end.

As we’re nearing the end of Phase 4, I think people will start to see where this next saga is going. I think there have been many clues already, that are at least apparent to me, of where this whole saga is going. But we’ll be a little more direct about that in the coming months, to set a plan, so audiences who want to see the bigger picture can see a tiny, tiny, tiny bit more of the roadmap.

    Kevin Feige

So, not only will we get a look at the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but it also looks like we’ll get an idea of where exactly the current phase is heading. Many arrows are pointing to Jonathan Major‘s Kang being the main antagonist, especially after Loki introduced us to his Variant and the events of the series unraveled whatever will lead to Kang the Conqueror being unleashed upon the multiverse. He also makes for the perfect choice to rewrite the franchise in case they want to reinvent it by going into a new Saga and tackling different kinds of stories moving forward.

  • Kevin Feige Teases New MCU Announcements “in the Coming Months”

Kevin Feige Teases New MCU Announcements “in the Coming Months”

There’s been a lot of questions about where the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe may be heading. Phase 4 has seemingly been the most disjointed, echoing the early days of Phase 1 and 2 where it seemed like these projects were a bit looser in connection. Yet, as the MCU’s Phase 4 is slowly coming to an end with its upcoming releases, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige has teased that we’ll get to see more of the roadmap in the coming months. The time frame would match with San Diego Comic-Con, D23, and Disney+ Day on the horizon. His full quote is as follows:

[…] we’ll be a little more direct about that in the coming months, to set a plan, so audiences who want to see the bigger picture can see a tiny, tiny, tiny bit more of the roadmap.

    Kevin Feige

It’s exciting to know that we’ll get a tease of what the future has in store, but it does seem like we shouldn’t expect any full-phase announcements. It does seem like Marvel Studios has generally moved away from that concept and with the new TV series also trying to build upon smaller announcements to further expand the franchise. So, who knows if Phase 4 truly will end or just continue to whenever thee story is getting a new kickstart into the next stages of the current Saga.

  • Amazon Prime’s ‘Paper Girls’ Eyeing July Release, New Look at Cast

Amazon Prime’s ‘Paper Girls’ Eyeing July Release, New Look at Cast

It looks like the upcoming adaptation of Paper Girls has been steadily building up steam. Not only did we get a first look not too long ago, but now Amazon Prime released a close look at the team while also highlighting that the series is going to release on July 29th. It’s crazy to think how far the project has come that initially started shifting into gear back in October of 2020. The comic explores the story of a group of four young paper girls in 1988, who suddenly find themselves traveling through time.

The previews certainly have teased quite the style for the project and it does seem like a trailer isn’t too far off with a July release. It is curious that they are taking the Netflix promotion route this time by having it showcased this close to its initial launch window. Either way, the adaptation looks quite promising and a time travel storyline is definitely something to grab people’s attention currently. We’ll see if the trailer can also tease the vibe that the comics offered and how they may bring it on Amazon Prime.

  • Yasmeen Fletcher Initially Didn’t Get the Part of Nakia in ‘Ms. Marvel’

Yasmeen Fletcher Initially Didn’t Get the Part of Nakia in ‘Ms. Marvel’

Ms. Marvel is a special kind of series that not only represents something important to a community but also adds a little something special to a franchise. The Marvel Cinematic Universe has been going on for quite some time now, but they still find ways to reinvigorate the world and offer something to its audience. That was one of the appeals to Yasmeen Fletcher, who plays Nakia in Ms. Marvel, as she reveals in an interview with WWD.

I think the first Marvel movie I watched in theaters was ‘Guardians of the Galaxy. And I’d seen a couple at home before then, but ever since then, I was looking forward to every movie on the edge of my seat, trying to theorize, connect different things. I’ve been a huge fan, so this was the dream call, basically

    Yasmeen Fletcher

She also shares how she got the role of Ms. Marvel, especially highlighting that it was a friend of hers that got her into the original comics before she tried to get an audition with the help of her manager.

A friend of mine who’s a huge Marvel fan was, like, ‘There’s this comic series that I think you would really like. I think it’s something that you’d relate to. Then when the rumor for the show came out, I sped to my computer to email my manager and be, like, ‘If there’s any possibility of me being a part of this in any way, please, I would love to be a part of this.

    Yasmeen Fletcher

In a surprising twist, it seems that even after auditioning she didn’t initially get the role. Her manager had to tell her that they passed on her only for two weeks later to get the call where they decided for her to take on the role after all.

After doing the test, I texted my manager and told her how it went and the next day she called me and was, like, ‘So bad news. You actually didn’t get the part. It’s not going for you, they’re still looking, I’m so sorry.’ And that was world ending, devastating,” she says. “So for two weeks, I was completely convinced that I didn’t get the part and it wasn’t going [to] me, and then out of the blue, I got a call from my manager again, saying, like, ‘Hey, in a really strange turn of events, it’s coming right back for you.’

    Yasmeen Fletcher

It definitely sounds like it was a rollercoaster to join the Marvel project, but she highlights how much it meant to her to take on this role in the past. It’ll be interesting to see how her character’s story unfolds in the series as we get a clearer look throughout the next few episodes and how Nakia’s own pursuits may stand out throughout the season.

  • James Gunn Will Tackle ‘Peacemaker’ Season 2 After Wrapping Up ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’

James Gunn Will Tackle ‘Peacemaker’ Season 2 After Wrapping Up ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’

We’ve all wondered when James Gunn may tackle the next season of Peacemaker. The director has been quite busy not only working on Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 but also has the Holiday Special heading to Disney+ on the horizon. He’s also been teasing quite a few other DC properties that he is currently developing. So, it’s no joke when one says that the director is quite busy.

In an interview with Deadline, the director not only teased the upcoming Disney+ special based around the Guardians of the Galaxy but also confirmed that once he’s wrapped up work on these projects, he’ll tackle the second season of Peacemaker. He doesn’t offer a specific timeframe but it does seem like he may tackle the project once he’s wrapped up most of the work on the franchise, which is eyeing a May release next year.

Yes, the Holiday Special is very light and bubbly and fun and just absolutely ridiculous, so I think that’s great. And then we’re going on to do Peacemaker Season 2.

    James Gunn

With a character like Peacemaker, Gunn has all the freedom he needs to create a story that can go in any direction. After saving the world, the former villain may be riding high and has no idea that a new assignment is just on the horizon. He’s haunted by the ghost of his past actions and who knows how that may play into his story moving forward. So, we’ll see what the future has in store for the character once cameras start rolling on the project.

  • TNT’s ‘Snowpiercer’ Set to End After Fourth Season

TNT’s ‘Snowpiercer’ Set to End After Fourth Season

After a successful run on the TNT network, Snowpiercer is set to finish its run with their upcoming fourth season. The show was based off of the critically acclaimed Chris Evans-led 2013 film of the same name made by Bong Joon-ho (which in itself is based off of the French graphic novel Le Transperceneige by Jacques Lob). Set in the same universe, but a few years before the film, the Snowpiercer series followed Jennifer Connelly’s Melanie Cavill and Daveed Diggs’ Andre Layton on the titular luxury train as they deal with the socio-political ramifications of class warfare in the midst of the aftermath of global catastrophe.

In a statement made by a TNT network spokesperson today, they talked about their appreciation for the team behind the show for its successful run on the network.

We can confirm that Snowpiercer will end after a successful, multi-season run on TNT. Its talented writers, actors and crew took an extraordinary premise and brought it to life in thrilling ways. It was critically acclaimed, had a significant impact on the post-apocalyptic genre, and now remains in the hearts and minds of fans forever.

    Turner Network Television

The news of the show’s end comes in line with mass turnover in the way WarnerMedia is handling its entertainment properties since the merger with Discovery and the appointment of David Zaslav as the new President and CEO of the company. A focus to consolidate resources, focus on fewer channels of media (namely the HBO Max streaming service), and emphasize cost effectiveness. With it, a recent edict was in place to end work on any new scripted series for both TNT and its sister network TBS. It remains to be seen the success of this new change, but ultimately the end of Snowpiercer continues to mark an emblematic change in the overall direction of WarnerMedia.

  • ‘Game of Thrones’ Spinoff Centered on Jon Snow in Development

‘Game of Thrones’ Spinoff Centered on Jon Snow in Development

As HBO prepares to launch its first Game of Thrones spinoff series, titled House of the Dragon, the network is looking to grow its Game of Thrones universe even further. The Hollywood Reporter has announced that HBO is currently developing a spinoff series centered on Jon Snow with actor Kit Harington attached to star.

It is of note that, while the project is in development, it hasn’t necessarily been given a series order. Should the project receive an official order from HBO, Harington will reprise his role as Snow from Game of Thrones. While details are sparse regarding the project, the eighth and final season of Game of Thrones saw Snow learn plenty about who he truly was – including his name, Aegon Targaryen. The Jon Snow series will differ quite a bit from the other projects in development, as those stories are focused on unknown stories from the past, while the Jon Snow series would allow the series to revisit fan-favorite characters.

As of this writing, there are seven Game of Thrones projects in various stages of development at HBO. House of Dragons, the first of the spinoffs, will hit HBO on Aug. 21st and tells the story of a civil war within House Targaryen and is set about 200 years before the events in Thrones. Also confirmed to be in development are 10,000 Ships with showrunner Amanda Segel9 Voyages with showrunner Bruno Heller, and Dunk and Egg with showrunner Steve Conrad. Also in development are three animated titles, including The Golden Empire.

  • Marvel Studios’ ‘Wonder Man’ Series May Be Currently Planned as a Hollywood Satire

Marvel Studios’ ‘Wonder Man’ Series May Be Currently Planned as a Hollywood Satire

The news has just dropped that Shang-Chi director Daniel Destin Cretton is joining forces with Brooklyn Nine-Nine writer Andrew Guest to adapt Wonder Man as a Disney+ series. It’s part of the overall deal he has made with Marvel Studios, and it turns out that there’s one more detail that was kept out of the initial brief. As Simon Williams, the man who would become Wonder Man is an actor, and Variety’s Joe Otterson has pointed out that the series may be planned as a Hollywood satire.

He does highlight that he can’t 100% confirm if that is the direction they are going. Marvel Studios is no stranger to adapting along the way and with it in its early stages, a lot can change once cameras start rolling, which is seemingly already planned for 2023. So, they may have most of the base scripts already mapped out and are putting their team together.

The question remains if Nathan Fillion will be the one to once again give the character a chance. Though, they may use this opportunity to recast and nab someone younger for the role. They have many angles to take, as an older actor could showcase a “trying to get back the glory days” storyline or go with a younger actor struggling to find his footing. Wonder Man offers a great variety of stories and it’ll be interesting to see which direction they take it.

  • BREAKING: ‘Shang-Chi’ Director Developing ‘Wonder Man’ Series

BREAKING: ‘Shang-Chi’ Director Developing ‘Wonder Man’ Series

Here’s a surprise it looks like Wonder Man is the next hero to get his own series, as The Hollywood Reporter has just shared that Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten RingsDestin Daniel Cretton is working alongside Brooklyn Nine-Nine and Community writer, Andrew Guest, to develop a live-action series based on the popular character. Guest is the series head writer while Cretton will exec produce the series. Though, he is likely also set to direct the pilot episode. It’s currently eyeing a 2023 production start.

the project is part of Cretton‘s new deal with Marvel Studios and will head to Disney+ like many Marvel Studios projects before it. Given the team behind it, it’s very likely to follow the comedy format that She-Hulk, Attorney at Law is going to use. That means we might get around nine episodes for a full season, though who knows if they might take a different approach as they adapt to the new format.

Wonder Man almost appeared in the Marvel Cinematic Universe at one point, as Nathan Fillion shot a few scenes as the character. For those that don’t know, Wonder Man is actually an actor known as Simon Williams. He’s the original blueprint for the brainwaves that created Vision in the comics. He also is more an actor than a superhero, who would eventually have various interpretations throughout the years due to his abilities. The potential of a look into Hollywood through the lens of a superhero has been an exciting prospect to explore for some time, something we even pitched a while back.

  • Jonathan Entwistle Teases “Familiar Faces” in Netflix’s New ‘Power Rangers’ Cinematic Universe

Jonathan Entwistle Teases “Familiar Faces” in Netflix’s New ‘Power Rangers’ Cinematic Universe

It’s been some time since it was announced that Jonathan Entwistle was announced as the head behind a new cinematic universe for the Power Rangers franchise. Ever since we’ve heard very little bout the project. Well, that was until now as we finally got an update that Jenny Klein will showrun a Power Rangers series. There are no details on how this project will effectively work or if it may be the central franchise-building others, but it finally moving forward offers an exciting prospect that we might get more details on it sooner rather than later.

Entwistle was just as excited about the news, as he took to his personal Twitter account to share the news as well as tease that it’s a big part of this new cinematic universe. He also went on to confirm that they are establishing a new universe (a curious wording given the multiversal status of the Boom! Comics adaptations). What stands out, however, is that he also teases some “familiar faces” joining.

    https://twitter.com/jonaent/status/1536860133753401345

Not too long ago, we heard from former Pink Ranger Amy Jo Johnson that they haven’t been involved in some capacity with the project. Of course, things may have changed and they were still busy mapping out the concept before getting the original crew involved. There’s also the 30th anniversary just around the corner, which could be the perfect timing to kick off this new universe and how it may connect to the rest. So, here’s hoping we’ll get more insight soon.
