  • Judy Greer, Keegan-Michael Key & Johnny Knoxville Board Hulu’s ‘Reboot’

Judy Greer, Keegan-Michael Key & Johnny Knoxville Board Hulu’s ‘Reboot’

Hulu’s forthcoming comedy series, Reboot, has nabbed a trio of all-stars.

It was revealed on Monday that Judy Greer, Keegan-Michael Key & Johnny Knoxville have boarded Hulu’s comedy series, Reboot. Greer has nabbed the leading lady role of Bree Marie Larson, replacing Leslie Bibb. Per Deadline, the reason for the recast is because the writers ultimately took the direction of the main female character in a “different direction.”

Reboot hails from Steven Levitan and 20th Television. Along with creating the series, Levitan will write, executive produce and showrun Reboot for Hulu. The series focuses on Hollywood’s love of rebooting properties, especially for the small screen. Reboot sees a 2000s family sitcom rebooted, forcing its dysfunctional cast back together. Over the course of the series, the cast will need to “deal with their unresolved issues in today’s fast-changing world.”

Key plays the role of Reed Sterling, a fussy actor also on the sitcom. While Knoxville plays Clay Barber, a dark and filthy standup comedian who is most famous for is work on the “sunny” sitcom. As for Greer’s Bree, the character is described as a small-town pageant girl who always dreamed of being an actress and a princess and both somehow came true. The trio joins the previously cast Rachel Bloom, Calum Worthy and Krista Marie Yu.

  • Aubrey Plaza Joins ‘The White Lotus’ Season 2

Aubrey Plaza Joins ‘The White Lotus’ Season 2

Fans of the first season of the HBO Max original series The White Lotus are anxiously awaiting the next entry. The next season is rumored to take place at another White Lotus resort, moving away from the one located in Hawaii with an all-new set of characters. As such, the series might be taking an anthology approach moving forward. Variety is now reporting that Parks and Recreation star Aubrey Plaza will be the next guest, as she officially joins the second season. The actress is set to be a series regular, playing the character of Harper Spiller. Harper is on vacation with her husband and his friends, however, no casting has been made on her supporting cast.

Plaza joins Sopranos star Michael Imperioli, who is set to play the role of Dominic Di Grasso, another guest, who is traveling with his son and father. A while back it was reported that Jennifer Coolidge would be returning from the first season, but it was never confirmed by HBO Max. If she does end up returning, she’ll very likely be reprising the role of Tanya McQuoid. There is currently no set production start and it’s uncertain what the location might be this time around. Mike White, the series creator, is returning to work on the series alongside producers David Bernad and Mark Karmine.

  • REPORT: New Casting Breakdowns for Mai and Ty Lee in Netflix’s ‘Avatar: The Last Airbender’ Revealed

REPORT: New Casting Breakdowns for Mai and Ty Lee in Netflix’s ‘Avatar: The Last Airbender’ Revealed

Production on the upcoming live-action adaption of Avatar: The Last Airbender is currently in motion, as they continue to add new cast members. Just a few weeks ago the project added Yvonne Chapman as Avatar Kyoshi, Maria Zhang as Suki, Casey Camp-Horinek as Gran-Gran, and Elizabeth Yu as Princess Azula. With Azula set to make an early appearance, it seems she won’t be alone, as Mai and Ty Lee may also appear in the world of Avatar a bit earlier than expected.

The Illuminerdi is reporting that the two will appear in the first season and has even shared the first character descriptions for both of them. The production is looking to cast an East Asian actress, who is 15 years old to play Mai. She is described as a “courteous daughter of a politician” who was sent to a private school for children of her political standing. Yet, she is also described as a “brooding teenager who finds her guarded and affluent life tedious.” Mai doesn’t wear her emotions on her sleeve and can often be seen as “quite deadpan.”

Netflix’s looking for the same age and heritage for the actress to play Ty Lee, who attends the same school as Mai. She is described as “cheerful, bubbly, and athletic.” Ty Lee is “an adept acrobat and gymnast” and we may see her actively move around while holding conversations with people, as she can never sit still. As such, she does her utmost to be liked by the people around her. She and Mai are both described as “recurring guest performers,” which hints that we’ll get more of them than initially expected.

No talent has yet to be announced for either role as the series continues production. They may get announced by the studio in a similar fashion to the three previous cast members. For now, we can only wait, as Avatar: The Last Airbender also doesn’t have a release date just yet.

  • HBO’s ‘The Last of Us’ Crew Merch Hints at Potential Season 2

HBO’s ‘The Last of Us’ Crew Merch Hints at Potential Season 2

It’s been some time since we got an onslaught of set photos from HBO’s The Last Of Us. There were many teases that the games are taking elements from across the franchise, such as Joel and Ellie’s hometown being visited that don’t become relevant until the sequel. More set photos have found their way online that seem to hint at some inspirations taken from the Left Behind DLC, but there’s a much more interesting detail at play here.

@TheLastofUsNews shared the video and also noticed the curious detail when zoomed in on the set crew’s sweatshirt. If you take a closer look, it goes out of its way to highlight that this is the production for “Season 1” which commonly means that there are already plans for the next season.

    https://twitter.com/TheLastofUsNews/status/1480635813759262730

It’s not definite, as you never know how things develop after a series releases, but it wouldn’t be surprising that HBO has a lot of trust in this project. Plus, the post-apocalypse world has quite a lot to offer and it wouldn’t be too surprising that they’d plan in multiple seasons especially as development is rumored on a third game in the series. For now, this is our first hint at a potential expansion, but we’ll see if we get an announcement ahead of its release.

  • Sebastian Stan Has “No Clue” What’s Next for Bucky

Sebastian Stan Has “No Clue” What’s Next for Bucky

Marvel Studios streaming series The Falcon and The Winter Soldier allowed Sebastian Stan to showcase his talents and really dive deep into who Bucky Barnes was. By the time the season was over, Bucky had seemingly moved on from the haunting memories of his time as The Winter Soldier and was, for the first time in nearly 100 years, free to move on and purse a life of his own choosing.

Like many of the other characters from the Disney Plus streaming series, it’s clear that there’s another chapter in Bucky’s story waiting to be told, but it isn’t clear when that chapter will be told. While it makes sense the Stan would reprise the character in Captain America 4, there’s hardly been any word on that film, much less its cast. With so many people wondering when we’d see Bucky next and no clear answer, Collider went right to the source, asking Stan when he’d next appear in the MCU during an interview for his next film The 355.

I don’t know. Per usual, I can’t answer that question. I have no clue, but look, I think it’s sort of about seeing what’s next for him, right? To some extent, the show, I felt, really graduated him to another level of experience and taking on his past a lot better and gave him another sense of place and sense of family that he’s found there with Sam. So he’s in a pretty good spot right now. I’d be curious to see what the next interesting thing that we could tell with him would be, and as you well know, that is above my pay grade. There are far wiser men and women who are making those decisions.

Stan did go on to promise that Bucky was not among the multitude of rumored cameos in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Animated projects aside, it doesn’t seem as though Stan has been a part of any of Marvel Studios projects that have wrapped recently or are still filming, meaning it might be until 2023 before the live-action return of Bucky Barnes. But as much as Stan loves playing the character and as much as fans love him, there’s certainly a future in store for him.

  • Leaked 2022 Marvel Legends Wave to Feature Quake

Leaked 2022 Marvel Legends Wave to Feature Quake

Near the end of 2021, a pretty good-sized leak revealed many of this year’s upcoming Marvel Legends waves. Among the figures mentioned in the leak were Sleepwalker and D’Spayre, who turned out to be part of the Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness wave that was recently revealed. Now, the same leaker, YouTuber Rektangular, has some updated information on another wave.

Rektangular’s original information indicated that a comic-based Avengers wave would be hitting shelves in September of this year. It now appears that wave has been moved up to April, meaning it’ll be available for pre-order soon, and with the move comes more information about which figures collectors can expect. According to Rektangular, the wave will contain the following seven figures:

    Thor
    Iron Man
    Quake
    Blue Marvel
    Speedball
    Madame Hydra
    U.S. Agent

The inclusion of Quake is sure to get fans of Agents of S.H,I,E.L.D. speculating about Chloe Bennet’s return to the role; however, the wave is comic-based and not related to any of Marvel Studios upcoming projects, so this figure should not be taken as an indication of her joining the MCU. Collectors should still be excited though, as this is the first time the character has been made available in the Legends line. Blue Marvel and Speedball will also make their first appearances as Legends, with Speedball joining fellow New Warriors Night Thrasher and Firestar as characters who have recently been produced.

  • ‘Peacemaker’ Pop Up Offers a Closer Look at More Helmets

‘Peacemaker’ Pop Up Offers a Closer Look at More Helmets

Peacemaker is almost upon us just a few months after his first live-action appearance in The Suicide Squad. He is quite the oddball, on a quest for peace that includes killing anyone and anything that gets in his way, sporting a colorful outfit and a chrome dome that helps him stick out like a sore thumb even more than he did before. His helmet is his most iconic feature, and it seems the Peacemaker series is going to run wild with infinite possibilities as to what these helmets could be.

The past few trailers for Peacemaker have given us a look at a few new helmets in the series. We get a glimpse at Christopher Smith’s base of operations that includes a display case full of unique helmets, which in the comics have different functions. A new pop-up event for the HBO Max series features a display case with a few new helmets that we have yet to see before and gives us names for said helmets.

One of the first helmets is an “Underwater World” that most likely gives him the ability to breathe and see underwater. The next is reminiscent of his early helmets, featuring an obscenely and comically large fin that’s dubbed the “Screwdriver.” His final helmet is called the “Itchy Dan” and is a basic Peacemaker but instead features a forehead of spikes that could prove quite useful in a headbutting match. It’ll be interesting to see if he wears these helmets or if they are simply a closer look at what else his display case includes.

  • ‘Peacemaker’s’ Danielle Brooks Talks James Gunn’s Support of Her Casting: “You Already Fit”

‘Peacemaker’s’ Danielle Brooks Talks James Gunn’s Support of Her Casting: “You Already Fit”

James Gunn‘s much-anticipated Peacemaker series makes its HBO Max debut in less than a week. The series is full of characters that look like they have jumped straight out of a comic book, including John Cena‘s Peacemaker and Freddie Stroma’s Vigilante. The series co-lead, Danielle Brooks, however, recently opened up to Variety some of the anxiety she experienced as someone who didn’t herself fitting into the superhero or comic book world the series takes place in.

The Orange Is The New Black star revealed that Gunn wrote the part of Leota Adebayo with Brooks in mind. When it came to the casting process, Brooks stated:

It’s [] this kind of nerve-racking experience, because you really want to fit in their world. When you audition and you get the part, you know that you were the right choice, but when you didn’t audition, you’re like, “I hope they don’t feel like they made a terrible mistake.”

    Danielle Brooks

Obviously, Gunn and Peacemaker did not make a terrible mistake. When Brooks expressed her concerns to Gunn, the writer and creator made it clear to her that she fit in Peacemaker‘s world:

So we ended up having a meeting, and we just hit it off. I explained to him [that] I’ve never seen anyone like myself in this world. It was really exciting for James to say, “I like you the way you are. I don’t want you to get all this training and try to lose 100 pounds” or all this stuff. He didn’t try to make me fit into his world. He said, “You already fit.” I really appreciated that.

    Danielle Brooks

It is always great to see that level of support between members on any project, and that will almost certainly be reflected in the series’ final project. Peacemaker’s confidence to bring in characters that challenge the traditional view of what a “superhero” project character can be undoubtedly seems like it will payoff for the series. Still, Brooks also noted the importance of her character to comic books and their stories in other mediums:

I started doing research before getting this part of, like, if I were to ever be asked which [comic book] characters I could play, who do I actually look like? There are a few that look like me, actually, but when they’re reflected on TV or film, they change them completely. Their look does not reflect what you see in the comics. I’ve always tried to manifest doing an action project, because I do feel like a big part of my driving force in this industry is changing the narrative of what leading ladies look like and what plus-size women are capable of doing. Part of that was getting out of my own way. When I had my daughter, I ended up gaining 60 pounds, so I didn’t feel confident. Before, I was doing Spartan races. Like I was out here over 200 pounds, doing Spartan races, and now I’ve gained 60 pounds on top of that, and I just felt like, “Can I do this [show]?” But I knew in the back of my head I could because I had the support of James Gunn, and not someone saying that you need to change any parts of yourself.

    Danielle Brooks

You can see Brooks bring Leota Adebayo to the screen when the first three episodes of Peacemaker drop on HBO Max on Jan. 13.

  • EXCLUSIVE: ‘The Handmaid’s Tale’ Season 5 Eyeing to Start Production Next Month

EXCLUSIVE: ‘The Handmaid’s Tale’ Season 5 Eyeing to Start Production Next Month

There has been quite a lot of anticipation for any news surrounding Hulu’s The Handmaid’s Tale. Its creator Bruce Miller has teased a lot more twists for the coming season, but even after its quick renewal, there was some uncertainty about when it could be expected. This is especially noticeable with rumors hinting at it potentially being the culmination of the entire series that started in 2017, as it may be it’s last. We can exclusively share that the upcoming fifth season is already readying up to start production in early February.

The first episode of Season 5 is currently set to film in Toronto, Canada with Elisabeth Moss, the show’s main star who brought the character of June Osborne to life, will take over directing duties. Series creator Bruce Miller wrote the script for the episode. She has previously directed the third episode of the last season titled “The Crossing”. Not just that, she also directed the eighth and ninth episodes “Testimony” and “Progress” before Liz Garbus took over for the finale.

The story is an adaptation of Margaret Atwood‘s famous novel that explored a dystopian future where a second Civil War led to women becoming child-bearing slaves. The fifth season will follow the aftermath of the actions Moss‘ June takes during the finale of the fourth season, and it’s not going to be an easy road ahead.

  • Netflix Developing a ‘Scott Pilgrim’ Anime Adaptation

Netflix Developing a ‘Scott Pilgrim’ Anime Adaptation

The cult phenomenon that is Scott Pilgrim is once again being primed for an adaptation, only this time it will look a little bit different. Netflix, along with Universal Content Productions, is developing a new take on the fan-favorite franchise in the form of an anime adaptation. The show, which has yet to receive a full series order, is currently being written by Bryan Lee O’Malley, the original artist, and creator of the comic book that started it all. He will also serve as an executive producer on the anime with BenDavid Grabinski, who previously worked as the showrunner on Nickelodeon’s revival of Are You Afraid of the Dark?.

This will be the second major adaptation of the graphic novel series that ran from 2004 to 2010. It follows the life of the titular character, a part-time musician and full-time slacker, as he falls in love with the highly mysterious Ramona Flowers and goes to war with her powerful “seven evil exes”. Acclaimed director Edgar Wright adapted the concept into a 2010 live-action film titled Scott Pilgrim vs. The World, a project which has since become a staple in the genre.

Audiences hold the movie, which starred Michael Cera and Mary Elizabeth Winstead, to a high standard. The bar for a new adaptation will be understandably high, but fans should feel good about the inclusion of O’Malley in the creative process. It’s also worth noting that the pages of the Scott Pilgrim comics feel incredibly well suited to the anime style and should help to deliver a truly unique series for viewers.
