‘Thor: Love and Thunder’ Gets Earlier Release Date in India

It looks like India is getting Thor: Love and Thunder. little earlier than the rest of the world, as the official Twitter account has shared a new visual alongside the confirmation that the film is going to release on July 7th, a day earlier. In a way, it’s the perfect Thorsday gift for those that have been anticipating the next major entry in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

For some time, Europe received MCU films almost a week earlier but that practice has gone down as of late. Nowadays, they are eyeing a worldwide release around the same time, but that isn’t always given, such as Japan famously getting releases a little later. You can check out the official tweet confirming the early release date here:

It’s certainly a nice touch and we’ll see if other countries may also get an earlier release to celebrate the latest MCU entry. There’s a lot of banking on Love and Thunder, as it’s the first fourth entry in any franchise under the MCU banner. Not only that, but Taika Waititi has promised the film will be quite a bit different to offer something a bit more romantic, as they continue to explore new genres and diversify their portfolio while testing out the waters in Phase 4.

It’s unclear how much you can explore, but an adventure mode is something that has been sorely lacking in fighting games. Plus, the visuals overall look quite promising as the combat looks very vibrant and like we truly entered the next gen.

‘Top Gun Maverick’ Director Opens Up on Why Disney Canceled ‘Tron 3’

Joseph Kosinski is currently on top of his game as he’s flying high on the successes of his latest film, Top Gun: Maverick. Getting a chance to work again with Tom Cruise after Oblivion, he’s led to a record-breaking Memorial Day weekend. Now, he’s reflecting back on what would’ve been the sequel to his Tron: Legacy.

In an interview with Vulture, he reveals it would’ve been titled Tron: Ascension. It seems that he had already storyboarded and written the title, it was Disney that killed the project back in 2015. “I got so close. I really tried,” he revealed, as it was meant to invert the concept with the digital characters entering the real world, and how these two worlds “blending” into each other.

But it was a different Disney by 2015. When I made ‘Tron: Legacy,’ they didn’t own Marvel; they didn’t own ‘Star Wars.’ We were the play for fantasy and science fiction. And once you’ve got those other things under your umbrella, it makes sense that you’re going to put your money into a known property and not the weird art student with black fingernails in the corner — that was ‘Tron.’ And that’s okay.

    Joseph Kosinski

He does go on to highlight that he’s okay with his Tron sequel taking on a cult movement similar to the first, while also highlighting that he’s not holding a grudge with what happened, as it also opened another door for him to tackle the Only the Brave. A new third Tron film is on the way with Lion‘s director Garth Davis attached, which will see Jared Leto potentially in the lead.

  • Sony Embraces ‘Morbius’ Memes by Expanding its Theatrical Run

Sony Embraces ‘Morbius’ Memes by Expanding its Theatrical Run

It’s more morbin’ time ahead of us, as Sony has dived into the meme that’s developed around the film Morbius. Jared Leto‘s first attempt at a superhero entry starring the Living Vampire, Michael Morbius, underperformed quite a bit at theaters. It only managed to pull in $163M and is now returning to theaters, as people have been enjoying a few memes playing around with the “Morb” aspect of the name. It even created a very passionate Discord community, and a fan just streamed the entire film on his Twitch.

It’s definitely strange to see a film like this earn its cult status, even if it is mostly ironic. The film will now expand to over 1,000+ theaters in the United States. Sony would let a chance slip by if they didn’t bank on its return to fandom online. While it may never break bank, it could live on to earn a status not too dissimilar from The Room. Touted as one of the worst films made, there are countless fan screenings with in-jokes which even led to Tommy Wiseau seeing a resurgence on YouTube.

Meme culture has given many films a life beyond what one would expect, and it’s always fun to see the unexpected happen in this industry. Only time will tell if Morbius has the makings of joining countless fan streaming as people shout out for a morbin great time while sitting in a theater with other Morbius fanatics. Morbius time has only begun, as a new morbin’ era is upon us.

  • ‘Moon Knight’ Director Teases Arthur Harrow’s True Fate

‘Moon Knight’ Director Teases Arthur Harrow’s True Fate

Moon Knight ended on a high note as Oscar Isaac‘s Marc Spector and Steven Grant finally found some inner peace, leaving their superhero-ing behind them. Yet, the Egyptian God Khonshu had other plans with a third alter, Jake Lockley, still being in his control and seemingly made his arrival known by shooting Ethan Hawke‘s villainous Arthur Harrow. At least, that is what we assumed going by the way the show ended but director Mohamed Diab may have hinted at there being more to this story.

Twitter user @boda16_ was kind enough to offer a translation of a recent Facebook Q&A with Moon Knight director Mohamed Diab. In it, he was asked about how he was able to kill Ethan Hawke’s Arthur Harrow even with Ammit inside him. The question made sense given that even Marc Spector seemingly returned from the dead with the help of his Egyptian god. Well, Diab’s response may awaken some theories on his true fate. His only response was:

    Are you sure he’s dead?

    Mohamed Diab

It definitely would’ve been a shame to not further explore the character of Arthur Harrow, as we never truly got to fully explore his connection with Khonshu. He hinted that he used to be his Avatar, but we never actually fully explored what that meant and maybe how he looked like as his Moon Knight. Perhaps he had a completely different job, and seeing a more unhinged version through the lens of Harrow would be interesting to explore. For now, we can only speculate as there’s no renewal for the series.

  • Iman Vellani Shares What it Was Like Auditioning for ‘Ms. Marvel’

Iman Vellani Shares What it Was Like Auditioning for ‘Ms. Marvel’

Iman Vellani is quite a comic book fan, and had a soft spot for the character of Ms. Marvel after her love for the Invincible Iron Man comic led to her noticing the Pakistani-American superhero. Kamala Khan’s Ms. Marvel #19 was her introduction into the world of this character and now is at a point in her life where she is bringing her to life on Disney+. As we’re only a few more days away from its release, the young actress got a chance to talk bout what it was like auditioning for the role.

I knew exactly which comic books they pulled the scenes from [for the audition sides]. My 10-year-old self is going to hate me if I don’t do it.

    Iman Vellani

She went on to talk about the moment she and her father ended up at the offices of Marvel Studios. There she stood in front of people she admired and was “nerding” out while trying to grab the role of a lifetime.

I was fully nerding out in front of [co-president] Louis D’Esposito and [casting head] Sarah Finn. I wanted to take full advantage of being there because I didn’t know if it was going to happen again.

    Iman Vellani

Vellani also shared that she froze on set when Kevin Feige came to visit, as he’s among the people she looks up to. So, it definitely sounds like getting the role and meeting her idols has been quite the cathartic moment. In a way, she represents everyone out there hoping for a chance to become part of the world of Marvel Studios, and maybe there’s a chance no matter how impossible it seems.
