Disney+ Renews ‘Percy Jackson’ for Season 2

On Wednesday, Disney’s Bob Iger confirmed that Percy Jackson will return for a second season on Disney+. The news came during Disney’s Q1 2024 earnings call. The second season of Percy Jackson and the Olympians will follow the plot of the second book, The Sea of Monsters, and will see the series’ leading trio – Percy Jackson (Walker Scobell), Annabeth Chase (Leah Sava Jeffries) and Grover Underwood (Aryan Simhadri) – embark on a brand new adventure.

Celebrating the news, Rick Riordan, the author behind the bestselling series of books, expressed his excitement over returning for another adventure. “I can’t wait to bring the next season of Percy Jackson to Disney+! Raise anchors. Hoist the mainsail. All hands on deck, demigods. We’re heading for the Sea of Monsters!”

News of the show’s renewal comes a week after the first season’s finale dropped on the streaming service. Per Disney, Percy Jackson‘s first season reportedly generated more than 110 million hours streamed to date, with Deadline previously noting the first episode brought in 26.2 million views alone within its first three weeks. The adaptation was created by Riordan and Jonathan E. Steinberg, who also serve as executive producers on the series.

  • New ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ Set Photos Put [SPOILER] in Bullseye’s Crosshairs

New ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ Set Photos Put [SPOILER] in Bullseye’s Crosshairs

While the addition of Wilson Bethel to the cast of Daredevil: Born Again had fans of Marvel Television’s Daredevil excited, it also portended bad things for some of Matt Murdock’s closest friends. Plenty of set photos have emerged over the last few weeks, including some showing Matt, Karen and Foggy reunited and out on the town. Now, a new batch of set photos has popped up and might be the most spoilery yet. Proceed at your own risk.

After it was revealed last week that a local NYC venue was being converted into Josie’s Bar, set photos from February 5th showed Matt, Karen and Foggy headed into their favorite establishment. After what appears to be a little argument between Matt and Foggy, Matt departs leaving Foggy and Karen by themselves…and shortly thereafter, a masked gunman arrives and does what appears to be some considerable damage before being stopped by Daredevil, sporting a bright red costume.

While it’s a far cry from his classic comic book suit, the masked assassin is clearly Bullseye wearing a suit sort of inspired by comic book artist Marco Chechetto‘s more recent take on the character. Though there are no photos of the aftermath of the shooting, we’ll let you use your imagination as to why the psycho killer was there and how his actions might impact the rest of the show.

  • David Leitch to Direct New ‘Jurassic World’ Movie

David Leitch to Direct New ‘Jurassic World’ Movie

Universal Pictures has set its sights on Deadpool 2 director, David Leitch, to direct its forthcoming Jurassic World reboot. The news was revealed on Monday by Deadline, with the outlet reporting talks are still in the early stages. Should the deal take, Leitch will direct from a screenplay by David Koepp.

Along with eyeing a director for the next Jurassic World film, Universal has also set a release date for the next installment. The untitled film will hit theaters on July 2, 2025. The new movie will be a “fresh new take” in the franchise and will not see any of the stars of Jurassic World or Jurassic Park return.

Steven Spielberg will executive produce through his Amblin Entertainment banner. While Frank Marshall and Patrick Crowley are also on board to produce. Per Deadline, Leitch and Kelly McCormick will also produce through 87North.

The Jurassic World franchise has been a huge box office success for Universal. The first film, which debuted in 2015, went on to earn an impressive $1.6 billion at the worldwide box office. The sequel, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, released three years later, and earned $1.3 billion. The final film in the trilogy, Jurassic World: Dominion, released in 2022 and managed to still bring in $1.1 billion despite COVID-19’s impact on the box office.

  • Old Foes Share a Meal on the Set of ‘Daredevil: Born Again’

Old Foes Share a Meal on the Set of ‘Daredevil: Born Again’

While Marvel Studios has retconned the events of Marvel Television’s Daredevil into the MCU, the Season 3 finale does create some problems that will need to be resolved in Daredevil: Born Again. After dishing out a hellish beating to Wilson Fisk, Matt Murdock revealed himself as the Devil of Hell’s Kitchen and the saw the big man headed off to prison. So how does someone like Fisk end up running forayor of NYC? Presumably those issues will be addressed in the new Disney Plus series and maybe Matt and Fisk will…chat about it over coffee?

A new photo from the New York City set of Daredevil: Born Again might just show that conversation as stars Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio were caught sharing a table at a diner.

X user OT_Tristan caught the stars, and at least one body double, in the Square Diner and it appears the two are at least amicable. Given it’s the middle of the day, Murdock isn’t wearing any of his many possible DD outfits but rather looks like he’s fresh out of the courtroom. We’ll have to wait until 2025 to find out what the two longtime enemies are talking about but hopefully it’s related to their last onscreen chat in Season 3 of Daredevil.

  • Milly Alcock Selected as the New Supergirl

Milly Alcock Selected as the New Supergirl

It’s official. DC Studios has a brand new Supergirl.

On Monday, Deadline confirmed that Milly Alcock had been selected as the new Supergirl for James Gunn and Peter Safran’s new DC Universe. While rumors have suggested she’ll appear in Superman: Legacy, Deadline notes that has not yet been confirmed. Alcock will, however, make an appearance somewhere before ultimately headlining her own solo film, Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow.

Alcock, who is best known as Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen in HBO’s House of the Dragon, managed to beat out CODA actress Emilia Jones and Meg Donnelly. Donnelly, who was said to be among the finalists earlier this month, has previously voiced the character for DC’s animated films, Legion of Superheroes and Justice League: Crisis on Infinite Earths Part One.

Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow was initially announced in November 2023. At the time, it was revealed that Ana Nogueira would pen the screenplay as part of DC’s studio press day. As it stands, there is currently not a director attached to the project.

  • Geraldine Viswanathan Boards Marvel Studios’ ‘Thunderbolts’

Geraldine Viswanathan Boards Marvel Studios’ ‘Thunderbolts’

She joins fellow new addition, Lewis Pullman, who has replaced Steven Yeun who was also forced to depart the project earlier in the month for scheduling conflicts.

Viswanathan’s star has been on the rise since starring in Universal’s Blockers. She’s starred in projects such as TBS’ Miracle Workers, The Beanie Bubble, and Cat Person. She is set to star in Ethan Coen’s Drive Away Dolls and the Amazon comedy You’re Cordially Invited.

  • ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ Set Video Provides First Look at the Mysterious Muse

‘Daredevil: Born Again’ Set Video Provides First Look at the Mysterious Muse

As production on Daredevil: Born Again resumed last week in New York City, set photos flooded social media. While some were more spoilery than others (and other were more spoilery than you know), they combined to give fans a first look at the newly retooled series. One of the more interesting and revelatory BTS pictures confirmed that one of Daredevil’s most psychotic rogues, the deranged serial killer Muse, would indeed be part of the series.

Though the set photo showed some of Muse’s signed street art depicting Wilson Fisk’s Kingpin, some fans weren’t convinced that the psycho killer would show up. However, a set video from X user Finn erases any doubt.

The description of the scene matches a casting call that circulated ahead of filming which called for an experienced graffiti artist to serve as a body double. If some informed speculation is true and the cast hasn’t changed since December 2022, the person in question would be doubling for actor Colin Woodell, who joined the cast in an unknown role ahead of the initial round of production.

While Wilson Fisk is a big enough threat to Daredevil and his allies, Muse throws an entirely different type of threat entirely. A serial killer who uses his victims’ blood and body parts to create art, Muse was first introduced in Charles Soule’s run on Daredevil, which is believed to be one source of inspiration for Daredevil: Born Again. It remains to be seen just how much of a role Muse will play but it’s now clear he’ll be on the streets causing chaos when the series hits Disney Plus in 2025.

  • ‘Fantastic Four’: Marvel Studios Gives the Writing Duo behind ‘Rosaline’, ‘Daisy Jones & The Six’ a Pass at the Script

‘Fantastic Four’: Marvel Studios Gives the Writing Duo behind ‘Rosaline’, ‘Daisy Jones & The Six’ a Pass at the Script

As the world waits on the answer to the most important question inhistory–who will make up Marvel Studios’ First Family?–an interesting tidbit of news about the script for Fantastic Four has emerged.

Working in tandem, Reddit’s DCEU Leaks and insider Daniel RPK have learned that the writing duo of Scott Neustadter and Michael Weber have been brought into “touch up” Josh Friedman‘s script. Friedman, who wrote Avatar: The Way of Water and Snowpiercer, was brought on in March 2023 to take over scripting duties from Jeff Kaplan and Ian Springer.

Neustadter and Weber have worked together on several projects included Daisy Jones & the Six, Hulu’s Rosaline and The Disaster Artist. According to the report, they have not been brought in to rewrite the script from page one but simply to take a pass at it. Given their filmography, it seems likely they’re adding some comedic touches to Friedman’s sci-fi script.

  • Matt Murdock, Foggy Nelson and Karen Page Take a Stroll in a New BTS from ‘Daredevil: Born Again’

Matt Murdock, Foggy Nelson and Karen Page Take a Stroll in a New BTS from ‘Daredevil: Born Again’

As one might expect, filming a highly anticipated Marvel Studios streaming series on the streets of New York City can draw quite a bit of attention. As was the case when Hailee Steinfeld was first spotted on the NYC set of Hawkeye in NYC in December 2020, production on Daredevil: Born Again has borne significant set photo fruit. Already, fans got a peek at a Kingpin mural signed by psycho killer Muse and their first look at what’s almost certainly costumed vigilante White Tiger. Now, fans of Marvel Television’s Daredevil got their money shot…

A BTS video of an early evening shoot in New York City revealed the first look at star Charlie Cox reuniting on set with Elden Henson and Deborah Ann Woll. After originally being either left out or appearing in a greatly reduced role in the series, Henson and Woll were brought back as Foggy Nelson and Karen Page, respectively, after a creative retooling on the series.

The video shows the trio walking out of the law office of Nelson, Murdock and Page, the firm the first named on a napkin in the Daredevil series finale.

A recent rumor indicated that Woll’s role in the series would be limited to a 3-episode arc. With baddies like Muse and Bullseye on the prowl, it’ll be interesting to see if either of them is behind her character’s short stint in the series.

Some episodes of Daredevil: Born Again are expected to stream on Disney Plus in 2025.

  • (SPOILER) Possibly Revealed in New ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ BTS Video

(SPOILER) Possibly Revealed in New ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ BTS Video

It has long been rumored that Daredevil: Born Again would feature another costumed vigilante and a new video from the New York City set of the Disney Plus series may have given fans thier first look… though it may not be exactly what rumors led many to believe.

    POTENTIAL SPOILERS AHEAD

The video, shared by X user @porgomomics shows a costumed character standing just inside an NYC store. Dressed in white with black stripes all over the suit and helmet, it’s very possible this is the first look at White Tiger.

While.its hard to make you anything for certain, it does appear as though it may be a male inside the suit which would lead to the assumption that Daredevil: Born Again will feature Hector Ayala, the first character to take on the mantle of White Tiger in the comics.

Rumors that White Tiger would appear in Daredevil: Born Again date back to November 2022, though those rumors often proposed that a female had been cast in the role, leading fans to expect an appearance by Ava Ayala, Hector’s niece in the comics. Another rumor that surfaces recently indicated that the series was set to adapt the Marvel Comics The Trial of the Century arc in which Matt Murdock represented Hector Ayala who was on trial as White Tiger for murder. This, of course, lines up neatly both with what little is seen in the set video/photo and with Wilson Fisk’s anit-vigilante platform in hisayoral campaign.
