  • Paramount+’s ‘Frasier’ Sequel Series Adds Nicholas Lyndhurst

Paramount+’s ‘Frasier’ Sequel Series Adds Nicholas Lyndhurst

Paramount+ is moving forward with the Frasier sequel series, as they have no cast Nicholas Lyndhurst to star opposite Kelsey Grammar. As such, he’s the firs tone to join the new production, but it’s not the first time these two actors have worked together. They both worked at the English National Opera in Man of La Mancha, so it’ll be a fun reunion for the two actors.

Lyndhurst is set to play the character of Alan Cornwall, who was Frasier’s old college friend who now is a professor himself. He is described as: “british, boozy and larger than life, Alan has an intellect on par with Frasier’s—if only he ever felt like using it. Alan’s mischievous streak might be just what Frasier could use to shake up his routine, while Frasier’s thoughtful guidance might help Alan find some of the direction he’s been missing in his own life.”

So far, not much is known about the series’ overall plot, but the following logline has been released on the series: “Frasier is off to a different city with new challenges to face, new relationships to forge, and an old dream or two to finally fulfill. Frasier has re-entered the building.” Taking the character out of his familiar environment makes for a great set-up and gives the writers of the project some freedom on how to approach the sequel series.

  • TNT No Longer Airing ‘Snowpiercer’s Final and Already Filmed Season

TNT No Longer Airing ‘Snowpiercer’s Final and Already Filmed Season

Warner Bros. Discovery is doing its thing again where they have a finished series or film and just decide not to make use of it in an attempt to save money. Snowpiercer is no longer set to air its final season on TNT, which is especially bizarre considering it was the network’s last remaining original series. Not all is lost though, as the series is set to find a new home on another network.

A spokesperson shared the following statement in regard to this decision:

TNT will not air season four of Snowpiercer,” a network spokesperson said in a statement. “This was a difficult decision, but our admiration for the talented writers, actors and crew who brought Snowpiercer’s extraordinary post-apocalyptic world to life remains strong. We have been working collaboratively with the producers since last year to help the series find a new home where fans can continue to enjoy the compelling story and exceptional visual experience. We look forward to working with them on future projects.

The production behind the series was Tomorrow Studios, who also released a statement in regards to this move. They have purchased the rights to the entire series to ensure they can shop the full project with the final season. CEO Marty Adelstein and president Becky Clements shared the following:

We love Snowpiercer and believe season four completes a story with incredible talent that will entertain viewers while exploring issues of climate change and class warfare. We are so passionate about this series that we have acquired the rights to control the franchise. We hope to find the perfect partner shortly and finish a great ride with the final season.

    Marty Adelstein and Becky Clements

The final season was announced last year in June and highlighted as its last entry. Warner Bros.’ decision to pull another show that is fully filmed is very likely done for tax reasons. It’s been a recurring theme throughout the last few years, as the new leadership mainly focuses on saving money rather than making it to cover their debt.

  • ‘Agatha: Coven of Chaos’ Names Trio of Directors, Announces Cast

‘Agatha: Coven of Chaos’ Names Trio of Directors, Announces Cast

As production on Agatha: Coven of Chaos prepares to get going, the studio has revealed the talent in front of and behind the camera of the streaming series. Head writer and executive producer Jack Schaeffer will serve as one of three directors of the series joining Gandja Monteiro and Rachel Goldberg. Monteiro is coming off of her work on the hit series Wednesday while Goldberg worked on Netflix’s Resident Evil series and Peacock’s A Friend of the Family.

It was also officially revealed that Joe Locke, who is expected to portray Billy Kaplan, Aubrey Plaza, Patti LuPone, and Sasheer Zamata joined the cast of the WandaVision spinoff along with Miles Gutierrez-Riley, Okwui Okpokwasili, and Maria Dizzia. The newcomers join Debra Jo Rupp, Emma Caulfield, David Payton, David Lengel, Asif Ali, Amos Glick, Brian Brightman, and Kate Forbes, who were last seen in the Marvel Cinematic Universe in WandaVision.

The spinoff is slowly turning into an ambitious project that will definitely offer a curious look into the MCU. With the return of the Westview cast, it does seem like we’ll either see more of them than initially expected or they’ll simply have a short role before Kathryn Hahn‘s Agatha ventures out into the titular coven. As production is already set off to release next week, we’ll see what the next Disney+ entry has to offer.

  • Netflix Canceled Animated Series ‘Dead End: Paranormal Park’

Netflix Canceled Animated Series ‘Dead End: Paranormal Park’

It looks like we have one more for the books, as Hamish Steele has revealed that the animated series Dead End: Paranormal Park is no longer moving forward at Netflix. The series recently had a second season released, but it seems it didn’t manage to pull in enough viewers or keep people watching long enough to get the coveted renewal.

He revealed the series is no longer moving forward in an official statement on Twitter, but Steele is hopeful that they’ll be able to continue pushing forward with the project somewhere else. He also reveals that they are working on a third and final DeadEndia book that would’ve been the basis of the third season.

It’s continuing to become a recurring theme over at Netflix, especially when it comes to their animated series. There have been quite a few cancelations as of late, especially going into 2023 with the sudden cancelation of Inside Job. That series especially seemed to have quite the fanbase and ranked quite high in their Top 10 ranks, but they still decided to not move forward anymore.

Netlix has been very specific on what they expect with the series, the only true renewal we have seen recently was Wednesday. They have some big projects set to release this year like the live-action adaptations of One Piece and Avatar: The Last Airbender, which are high-investments series that will require a fittingly high viewing rate. Here’s hoping we see a stronger return for the year.

  • Danai Gurira “Gently Allude” a ‘Okoye’ Disney+ Spinoff May Be In Development

Danai Gurira “Gently Allude” a ‘Okoye’ Disney+ Spinoff May Be In Development

With the release of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever last year, discussions started instantly on what the future of this franchise will look like. One avenue set up from the film is following Okoye on her journey as a Midnight Angel after her dismissal from the Dora Milaje. It has been hinted at in May of 2021 that an Okoye-based project was in the works, but no one hypothetically involved had commented up until this point.

However, while being interviewed on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, actress Danai Gurira referred to the reports of her leading a Marvel Studios Disney+ project. This is what Gurira had to say about the subject:

I have been told that I can gently allude to this possibility. So, I am gently alluding. Just gently.

    Danai Gurira

While not much can be gleaned from this quote about specific details, it’s notable to have confirmation that something pertaining to an Okoye-led project is in development for Disney+. Based on the description of deleted scenes for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever‘s digital release, more direct allusions to the project were almost made in the film.

A logical direction would be to follow Gurira’s Okoye and Michaela Coel’s Aneka as they independently serve tactical missions for Wakanda. The show or special could also dive deeper into the dynamics of the Dora Milaje, especially with Florence Kasumba’s Ayo being a romantic partner of Aneka.

With Letitia Wright confirming that Black Panther 3 won’t be for “a while”,  it makes sense for the stories of Wakanda to continue through the perspective of different characters. Especially with the potential of some sort of invasion of Vibranium happening in the future, it would be important for audiences to see more of the sovereign nation before that sort of project.

  • New Episodes of ‘Phineas and Ferb’ Heading to Disney+

New Episodes of ‘Phineas and Ferb’ Heading to Disney+

Disney+ has become the suprising stand out streaming service of the last year, but mostly for being the one that doesn’t go out of its way of canceling every show it releases or just outright taking content off the site. Now, they are kicking off 2023 strong by announcing that brand new episodes of Hamster and Gretel as well as Phineas and Ferb are on the way to Disney+.

The announcement came through a tweet by the official Disney+ account but no further details are offered on what exactly theplans are. The series are created by Jeff Marsh and Dan Povermire, who are likely to return especially Povenmire who is featured in the official image and is famous for voicing the popular Heinz Doofenshmirtz.

Hamster and Gretel premiered back in August of 2022 and was created by Povenmire, who explored a new take on superhero stories mixed with his usual writing. The big suprrise is the return of Phineas and Ferb, whose series officially ended back in 2015.

They did release a variety of special episodes, but it looks like we are getting two brand new seasons expanded with 20 episodes per season. There’s also still no word on the theatrical film of the franchise, which might have been shelved by now, but it looks like Phineas and Ferb is making its grand return.

  • Marvel Studios’ Kevin Feige Personally Offered Ke Huy Quan to Join the MCU

Marvel Studios’ Kevin Feige Personally Offered Ke Huy Quan to Join the MCU

Ke Huy Quan is back with a vengeance. The actor once made a big splash in films like The Goonies and Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom but was unable to truly land a role for many years. Now, the actor returned to theaters with a stunning performance in Everything Everywhere all at Once, which just recently won him a Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actor in a Motion Picture.

That’s not all he has planned, as the actor is also set to kick off his first franchise role as part of Loki‘s second season. Details are still being kept a secret on who exactly he might be playing, but in an interview with Josh Horowitz‘s Happy Sad Confused podcast, the actor revealed a rather interesting detail.

In the interview, the actor revealed that he didn’t actually audition for the role. Rather, Kevin Feige watched Everything Everywhere All at Once and personally asked him if he was interested in joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe. There was a lot of fanfare when he was announced as part of the cast during D23 and it’s even more exciting to find out that Feige personally wanted him on board.

Here’s hoping that the actor has many more roles just waiting for him after his recent success, and we’ll also get a tease on who exactly he is playing once the first full trailer for Loki‘s second season releases. He’s a talented actor and it would be great to see a lot more of him in the future, in more future MCU titles, and any other project he’ll join.

  • ‘The Batman’ Director Wants to Keep the Focus on Bruce Wayne in the Sequel

‘The Batman’ Director Wants to Keep the Focus on Bruce Wayne in the Sequel

Now, the headline is likely to have some wondering how a sequel to the film The Batman wouldn’t focus on Bruce Wayne, but director Matt Reeves has a good reason for that. His approach to the sequel seems to avoid the fact that the franchise’s main character isn’t overshadowed by the villains or members of his rogue’s gallery.

It’s not uncommon for some of the villains to steal the show in the Batman franchise, especially with the Joker in The Dark Knight. As such, he is trying to keep Bruce Wayne at the “emotional center of the story.” In a way, the villains should be there to strengthen the character’s story rather than completely overtake it, as their backstory and central themes become the narrative focus point.

To me, the thing that I really feel is that I also believe that Rob [Pattinson] is so special in the role. My goal has always been to do these point-of-view stories that allow the character to always be the emotional center of the story. Because a lot of times what happens is, after you do the first one, then suddenly other Rogues Gallery characters come in, and they kind of take over, and then Batman takes a backseat sort of character-wise, or emotionally

    Matt Reeves

It’s a great approach to thoroughly explore Bruce Wayne and Batman’s duality in the story. The villains are there to enforce the central message but the emotional journey is always on Wayne. Christopher Nolan‘s take on the franchise tried to keep Bruce’s conflict in choosing which kind of life he wants to live. We’ll have to wait a bit longer until we find out how exactly he plans to anchor the story around Pattinson‘s take on the character.

  • RUMOR: ‘The Flash’ Reshoots Scheduled for This Month

RUMOR: ‘The Flash’ Reshoots Scheduled for This Month

The Flash has had one of the most out-there productions we may have witnessed for any comic book property or even film. Not only was the film in development hell for many years, it got passed on from one director to the next. At one point, it seemed inevitable that they’d skip the project altogether but surprisingly It director Andrés Muschietti ended up taking the helm.

Finally, with a director in place and filming underway, its main star, Ezra Miller, started to gather one troubling headline after another. His actions had many wondering if they could even release the project considering his actions, but even after its merger, Warner Bros. Discovery was keen on getting the project out.

In a new tweet from Big Screen Leaks, it seems like the film may be planning some reshoots later this month. They do point out that this isn’t to change the ending, something some expected might be done to recast Miller with another actor to avoid further drama. It seems like these are some minor pickup shots, which we’ve also seen Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania do recently.

The long-awaited film is set to release on June 16th this year and it does seem like we shouldn’t expect another sudden delay in the production; at least as long as no sudden new headlines make the rounds. Here’s hoping we’ll finally get to sit down and see what DC’s approach to the multiverse is going to look like when it finally releases.

  • ‘Quantumania’ Producer Teases an “Epic Sci-Fi War” in ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp’ Sequel

‘Quantumania’ Producer Teases an “Epic Sci-Fi War” in ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp’ Sequel

Ant-Man is about to wrap up its trilogy in style with the arrival of Kang the Conqueror in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. The film will seemingly move away from the more light-hearted direction the franchise took to include some of its darkest moments, especially going by its trailers.

IIn a new press release for the film, Stephen Broussard, who is the Marvel Studios Vice-President of Production and Development, teased that the film is going to be an “epic sci-fi war movie,” further showcasing that this isn’t going to be your usual Ant-Man adventure. Though, he still calls it “a family adventure first and foremost” but all that changes once they enter the Quantum Realm.

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania’ is many things. It’s a family adventure first and foremost. It’s the story of a family of Super Heroes basically being pulled into an adventure within the Quantum Realm, and within that, 3 it becomes an epic sci-fi war movie and a coming-of-age story. It’s a lot of different things wrapped into one film.

    Stephen Broussard

It’s definitely an exciting prospect to not only see the franchise jump fully into the science-fiction aspects we were teased throughout the Infinity Saga. The Quantum Realm was an important milestone for the Avengers to find a way to reverse what Thanos has done to the world. Now, it seems whatever they did will catch up with the Ant-family.
