  • First Look at Ewan McGregor and Joel Edgerton’s Return in ‘Obi-Wan Kenobi

First Look at Ewan McGregor and Joel Edgerton’s Return in ‘Obi-Wan Kenobi

While we’re still anxiously awaiting a trailer, it looks like we finally got our first look at the upcoming Obi-Wan Kenobi Disney+ series. Entertainment Weekly offered a first look at the series, which not only included the confirmation of an INquiistor but also our first look at Ewan McGregor back in the titular role. The actor does tease however that we’re about to meet a very different man from the prequels.

We find Obi-Wan at the beginning of our story rather broken, and faithless, and beaten, somewhat given up.

So, it sounds like we’ll get a more intimate story with the Disney+ series that promises to fully explore what the Jedi Master had to go through after the Empire took over, while still keeping a close eye on a young Luke Skywalker.

    Obi-Wan Kenobi

He’s not the only returning face, as Joel Edgerton is also going to reprise his role as Uncle Owen, which he briefly played in the prequel trilogy. Deborah Chow, the series’ showrunner had some high praise to give for the actor, who is seen below facing off with the Inquisitor.

The article also hints that the Grand Inquisitor will appear in the series alongside a young Luke Skywalker. To be fair, the latter was to be expected with the return of Uncle Owen. It’s unclear if we’ll actually see him interact with Obi-Wan Kenobi but given how much he changed between this series and A New Hope, who knows if he forgot what the Jedi master looked like. We know he won’t be showing off his lightsaber in front of a young Luke, but the arrival of the Inquisitor might be what forces him to leave Tatooine behind for some time.

  • Moses Ingram Confirmed as Inquisitor Reva in ‘Obi-Wan Kenobi’

Moses Ingram Confirmed as Inquisitor Reva in ‘Obi-Wan Kenobi’

Not too long ago, we’ve heard rumors that the infamous Inquisitors might make their live-action debut in the upcoming Disney+ series, Obi-Wan Kenobi. After a long bout of silence, Entertainment Weekly has not only revealed the first look but also confirmed that Moses Ingram is, in fact, playing Inquisitor Reva with a first look at her design from the upcoming series.

    Obi-Wan Kenobi

That’s not all, as it looks like we’ll also get our first live-action introduction to the Grand Inquisitor at some point in the story, who are part of Darth Vader’s corrupted team of Sith. Going by the promotion, it seems we might also explore Vera as on of the series’ main antagonists. Ingram had the following to say on the connection between Darth Vader, Reva, and the Grand Inquisitor:

They share a common dark-side goal. They’re on the same team.

    Obi-Wan Kenobi

The addition of Inquisitor’s is an exciting expansion of the Star Wars lore, especially in how it continues the trend of the Disney+ series carrying over elements from the animated series into live-action. Plus, who knows if it might also open the possibility of more spinoffs exploring Darth Vader’s attempt to expand the Empire with an Inquisitor trying to save the others after breaking free from the Sith’s influence.

  • ‘One Piece’ Adds ‘Ozark’s McKinley Belcher, ‘Agents of SHIELD’s Jeff Ward, and More

‘One Piece’ Adds ‘Ozark’s McKinley Belcher, ‘Agents of SHIELD’s Jeff Ward, and More

Finally, after a long wait, we finally got some casting news for the One Piece series. So far, we’ve primarily only known the main cast that will bring the Straw Hat Pirates to life, but the series has been surprisingly quiet on its supporting cast. Finally, the wait is over as the official Netflix Geeked account has unveiled the rest of the cast, and there are some interesting additions.

Some Marvel and Agents of SHIELD fans might instantly recognize Deke Shaw actor Jeff Ward. He’ll take on the role of Buggy the Clown, which is quite the role to tackle given his future recurrence. Ozark and The Passage actor McKinley will take on the iconic role of Arlong. Aidan Scott from The Kissing Booth 2 will play Helmeppo while Terra Nova‘s Morgan Davis will play Koby. Queenpin‘s Ilia Isorelys Paulino is playing Alvida while 300‘s Vincent Regan will play the Garp, the grandfather of Inaki Godoy‘s Luffy.

It’s quite the cast and there are still some big characters missing from the East Blue Saga, such as Don Krieg, Kuro, and most notably Shanks. There might be some actors they are trying to keep a secret, such as who will end up playing the Pirate King himself, Gol D. Roger. Still, it’s exciting to finally see some names that further solidify this project is truly happening. Hopefully, we get a look at the actors in their costumes.

  • New Rumors Place The Scarlet Witch at the Center of Two Upcoming MCU Projects

New Rumors Place The Scarlet Witch at the Center of Two Upcoming MCU Projects

Elizabeth Olsen spent most of 2020 and much of 2021 inhabiting the role of Wanda Maximoff as the actress moved directly from production of WandaVision into production on Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. After having some time off from Marvel Studios, new rumors point to Olsen’s schedule getting pretty full again in the near future.

According to a scooper MyTimetoShineHello, Marvel Studios is keen to get Olsen back in action in a big way following her next appearance in the Strange sequel. The scooper claims that Wanda stans will get to see the Scarlet Witch in not only an adaptation of Alan Heinberg’s limited series, Avengers: The Children’s Crusade, but also in a solo Scarlet Witch project. Though the scoops indicated both projects are in development, no additional information was given about the order in which they might appear or whether they are intended to end up as streaming series or theatrical releases.

Given the rumors about Wanda’s character arc in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, an adaptation of The Children’s Crusade seems like the perfect handoff for the character. The 9-issue event sees one of Wanda’s sons, Billy, go in search of his missing mother as he starts to realize the full potential of his own, potentially dangerous powers. Billy teams up with his brother, Tommy, and other members of the Young Avengers to track down Wanda who is spending time with one of Marvel’s most wonderful characters: Victor Von Doom. As with most things, MCU, it’s highly unlikely that Marvel Studios The Children’s Crusade would be a direct adaptation of the event.

The Scarlet Witch solo project, should it come after The Children’s Crusade, could take inspiration from James Robinson’s 2016 Marvel Comic’s series, The Scarlet Witch, and take Wanda on a journey of discovery of just what being her generation’s Scarlet Witch entails.

  • BREAKING: Florence Pugh in Talks for Major Role in ‘Dune’ Sequel

BREAKING: Florence Pugh in Talks for Major Role in ‘Dune’ Sequel

Florence Pugh continues to make big moves across the film industry and now, she’s said to be in negotiations to join one of 2023’s most anticipated films. According to Deadline, Pugh’s agents have begun negotiations for her to appear in supermega-visionary-auteur Denis Villeneuve’s Dune Part Two.

According to the trade, should she sign on for the film, Pugh would portray Princess Irulan Corrino, the Bene Gesserit wife of Paul Atreides. The two shared a loveless marriage, as Paul’s heart belonged to Chani Kynes, with whom he would have two children. Following Chani’s death and Paul’s peace out into the desert, Irulan became the guardian of the Atriedes twins.

Pugh’s ascendancy to stardom has been on a steep trajectory since 2019’s Midsommmar. The actress quickly became a favorite of MCU fans following her debut as Yelena Belova in Black Widow, and her return in the role in the streaming series Hawkeye has only pushed her further into the spotlight.

Production on the Dune sequel is expected to get underway in full this summer ahead of an October 20, 2023 release. The film, helmed by the epically revered ubermegatronisionay Villeneuve, will see Timothy Chalamet and Zendaya return to the roles of Paul and Chani, respectively, with the expectation that it will cover the other 1/3 of the book left out of the original.

  • ‘Blue Beetle’ Adds Bruna Marquezine and Belissa Escobedo

‘Blue Beetle’ Adds Bruna Marquezine and Belissa Escobedo

Things seem to be ramping up behind the scenes on Blue Beetle, as the film continues to add more names to its cast. It was just announced that What We Do In The Shadows star Harvey Guillén has joined the Xolo Mariduena-led project in a key role. Yet, they aren’t stopping there, as a few more names have just been announced. The Wrap is reporting that Bruna Marquezine and Belissa Escobedo have joined Blue Beetle. Marquezine is reportedly playing the female lead and love interest to Mariduena‘s Jaime. Her character will be named Penny. Escobedo is set to play Milagros Reyes, Jaimes’ younger sister.

Belissa Escobedo is best known for her role in American Horror Stories and has just finished filming on the sequel for Hocus Pocus 2. Bruna Marquezine has worked on a variety of projects, which include God Save the King and Conquest. Angel Manuel Soto will direct the film with a script from Gareth Dunnet-Alcocer who previously wrote Universal’s Scarface reboot. The film is set to release on August 18th, 2023. Initially, it was a streaming exclusive for HBO Max but was changed to theatrical to the delight of many.

Blue Beetle will follow the third incarnation of the character, Jaime Reyes. The character made his first debut back in 2006 during the Infinite Crisis event before going on to get his own solo title. We know very little about how the upcoming film will adapt the character’s origins, or even if they might mix it up with hints at him getting a mentor in the form of a former Blue Beetle.

  • ‘What We Do in The Shadows’ Star Harvey Guillén in talks to Join ‘Blue Beetle’

‘What We Do in The Shadows’ Star Harvey Guillén in talks to Join ‘Blue Beetle’

Not too long ago, we reported that Blue Beetle is set to begin production soon, as it seemingly was eyeing to potentially kick-off early 2022. We have not heard much on the rest of the casting outside of its titular star Xolo Mariduena. Luckily, the wait has come to an end, as Deadline is now reporting that What We Do In The Shadows star Harvey Guillén is currently in talks to join the upcoming DCEU film in a key role. Sadly, they won’t give away who he is playing as the story remains under wraps.

Jaime Reyes is the third and most popular character to take on the mantle of the Blue Beetle. This iteration started fighting crime after a Blue Scarab of alien origin attached itself to his back. It allows him to manifest exoskeleton armor and multiple types of weapons, which includes sonic emitters and energy cannons. It remains unknown if the mentor and previous Blue Beetle, Ted Kord will make an appearance in the film, but DC Fandome concept art may have hinted at his involvement.

The film was previously set to be one of the first exclusive DC films for HBO Max but a while back had its release strategy switched up. The studio instead decided the film would better fit a theatrical release instead of direct to streaming. Blue Beetle is set to be directed by Angel Manuel Soto, best known for his work on the HBO film Charm City Kings with a script from Gareth Dunnet-Alcocer. The film is currently set to hit theaters on August 18th, 2023.

  • New Evidence May Point To A Daredevil MCU Project In Development

New Evidence May Point To A Daredevil MCU Project In Development

It’s been over a year since Murphy’s Multiverse first reported that Charlie Cox would be returning as Matt Murdoch/Daredevil in the then untitled third MCU Spider-Man feature film. Following his cameo in the record-breaking spidey threequel, as well as Vincent D’Onofrio‘s Kingpin appearing in Marvel Studios’ Hawkeye, it felt like a matter of time until news would surface hinting at a Daredevil-centered project set well within the boundaries of the MCU.

A likely new Marvel Studios production LLC formed a little less than two weeks ago seems to be a hint of just that. Its title, “Blind Faith Productions LLC”, feels like a perfectly condensed summary of two of Murdoch’s most defining characteristics, both physical and spiritual. But this does not mean that a new Daredevil project will debut any time soon as there’s no way of telling if the LLC is indeed for a Marvel project. As for the character of Matt Murdock, and quoting Charlie Cox himself, “expect to see him everywhere” while we wait for him to lead his own project.

Following the take on the character seen in the Netflix shows, there is still a lot to get to in terms of Daredevil storylines. The biggest selling point might be getting to witness his interactions with so many of the characters that have now become available to explore, from Echo to She-Hulk just to name a couple. But smaller details like having him don his iconic yellow suit may very well come into play. Yellow is obviously not the best color to wear while trying to remain unnoticed in the middle of the night while battling criminals (even if you can make the case for it being a great hoodie color) but bringing into the picture how it is meant as a tribute to his late father, besides a cool new look, it will certainly give us yet another layer for the character to expand and grow out from.

Limited liability companies are created to mitigate risk and keep the accounting for each project separate. More often than not, once the LLCs are established, the next step will be finding writers and eventually directors and/or showrunners, so we can only hope that that news will be coming out in the next few months.
