  • Kate Dickie Joins ‘Loki’ Season 2

Kate Dickie Joins ‘Loki’ Season 2

Kate Dickie has entered the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Deadline announced today that the Game of Thrones actress secretly, but officially, joined the cast of Marvel Studios’ Loki for its upcoming second season at some point during filming. While exact details surrounding Dickie‘s role are still being kept under wraps, the outlet stated it’s believed she will be playing a villain when she appears in the series. Production on the second season of Loki has already been completed, so the former Tinsel Town star was likely added to the cast quietly several months ago.

She joins returning leads Tom Hiddleston and Sophia Di Martino, as well as Owen Wilson, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Eugene Cordero, and Tara Strong. The only other confirmed newcomers, at this time, are Blindspotting star Rafael Casal, whose role is also still unknown, and Ke Huy Quan.

Loki Season 2 is set to be directed by the duo of Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead, taking over for Kate Herron from the first season, and written by Eric Martin, who replaces Michael Waldron. Plot details for the show’s second outing are sparse, but it’s expected to pick up where the previous season finale left off, with Hiddleston‘s Loki mysteriously stuck in a foreign version of the Time Variance Authority, seemingly run by a variant of Jonathan Majors‘ He Who Remains. It is unknown if Majors will return.

There is no current release date for Loki‘s second season, though it is slated to premiere sometime in the middle of 2023.

  • ‘Nobody’ Producer Confirms Sequel Will Film Next Year

‘Nobody’ Producer Confirms Sequel Will Film Next Year

Bob Odenkirk is back in the butt-kicking business. Last year, the fan-favorite actor starred in Nobody, an original action film by John Wick producers David Leitch and Kelly McCormick and director Ilya Naishuller. The story centered around Odenkirk‘s Hutch Mansell, a former government assassin who is inspired to come out of his dull retirement when a group of mob-affiliated burglars threatens his family. Nobody quickly became a surprise hit with audiences, and in August, Leitch stated he was inspired to work on a script for a potential sequel. That was the last update fans had received on the idea until this week when McCormick revealed Nobody 2 is definitely happening and will begin filming as soon as next year.

The news came while McCormick was promoting 87North Production’s latest project, Violent Night, which is now in theaters. Speaking exclusively with Collider, the producer explained that the hope is for Nobody 2 to start rolling cameras by the end of 2023:

We hope to make it [Nobody 2’s production] next year, so fingers crossed. So our theory is you don’t need to make a good sequel just to make a sequel. We need to make a great sequel. And so it’s about making sure that we get it right. And if we do, I think there’s a lot of hope that we can go next year.

    Kelly McCormick

Of course, McCormick did not spill any information on the sequel’s plot, but it’s safe to say Odenkirk will return to his role and probably kill some more bad guys. Nobody ended with a teaser that hinted Christopher Lloyd and RZA, who play Hutch’s father and brother, respectively, would have bigger roles in a possible follow-up, a plotline that may be too good for Leitch and company to pass up when the time comes.

  • Sofia Boutella Has Wrapped ‘Rebel Moon’ After One Year of Filming

Sofia Boutella Has Wrapped ‘Rebel Moon’ After One Year of Filming

Zack Snyder‘s Rebel Moon is closer to reality than ever before. The next cinematic epic from the Legend of the Guardians: Owls of Ga’Hoole director has officially wrapped filming for its lead actress, Sofia Boutella, and is presumably drawing close to the finish line. Boutella shared the news herself on Instagram, posting an image of the clapper from her final day on set and revealing just how long she spent working on the project. According to the post’s caption, the Kingsman breakout spent 152 days in front of the camera, over the course of a full year. She closed her comments with a simple sentimental message, “I left a big piece of my heart up there,” followed by a series of moon-themed emojis that represent the film.

Rebel Moon revolves around Boutella‘s Kora, a young woman with a mysterious past who seeks out intergalactic warriors to help save a peaceful colony from a tyrannical Regent Balisarius. The movie began as a pitch to Lucasfilm, with Snyder intending for the story to take place in the Star Wars universe. However, the creative’s more mature vision for a galaxy far, far away never made it past the idea stage, and Snyder eventually redeveloped the premise as an original film. Rebel Moon also stars Ray Fisher, Charlie Hunnam, Djimon Hounsou, Anthony Hopkins, Cary Elwes, Corey Stoll, Jena Malone, Cleopatra Coleman, and Ed Skrein as part of its star-studded ensemble cast. It will be given a limited theatrical release before dropping directly on Netflix, similar to the recent distribution of Rian Johnson‘s Glass Onion.

Rebel Moon does not currently have a release date.

  • Marvel Studios Has More ‘Daredevil’ in Mind

Marvel Studios Has More ‘Daredevil’ in Mind

As Daredevil: Born Again prepares to go into production in early 2023, Marvel Studios has begun assembling the supporting cast of the project including Michael Gandolfini and Colin Woodell. Casting will continue to make quite a bit of news over the next few weeks leading up to the holiday break as the studio looks to fill at least a half dozen new roles for the series. And as casting gets underway, an interesting bit of information has made its way to us.

Daredevil: Born Again looks to be the most ambitious project Marvel Studios has undertaken on Disney Plus. Production is set to run for nearly 11 months on the project which will consist of an unprecedented 18 episodes. While all actors won’t need to be on set every day of the shoot, some of the principals will be giving up a significant part of their year to the project. That’s a big undertaking for anyone which makes the information here even more interesting.

As these new actors are sealing their deals with Marvel Studios, I’m told that some like Colin Woodell, are signing on for one-and-done contracts. Thinking out loud, that probably means Woodell isn’t playing someone like Bullseye, who would likely be a recurring villain should Marvel Studios choose to use the character. I’m also told that others, like Gandolfini, are closing deals with options for future seasons and appearances in other Marvel Studios properties. That means that Gandolfini is much more likely to be playing someone like Richard Fisk than some no-name mafioso.

Nobody here is privy to the fine print of these contracts and having options does not mean that the characters are guaranteed to return or that another season is already going to happen. For all anyone knows, the options could be for a film like Spider-Man 4, which could see Spidey and Daredevil team up against Wilson Fisk, as all the actors involved have indicated they would be interested in making happen. However, if the contract option are for more seasons of Daredevil, it would certainly seem as though a second season would be quite a ways off, especially if another season were to be comprised of anywhere near as many episodes. There’s no reason to believe another season of Daredevil would have to be 18 episodes and there’s no reason to believe it couldn’t be; however, it seems as though Daredevil: Born Again‘s elevated episode count is due in part to the importance of the series in building the street-level corner of the MCU.

Given how fond Charlie Cox is of the role, the vast library of Daredevil stories in the comics and incredible roster of supporting characters, it would be shocking if Marvel Studios did NOT produce future seasons of Daredevil on Disney Plus. The contracts these actors are signing might just be the first indication to Marvel Studios’ plans.

  • ‘The Flight Attendant’ Star Colin Woodell Reportedly Joins ‘Daredevil: Born Again’

‘The Flight Attendant’ Star Colin Woodell Reportedly Joins ‘Daredevil: Born Again’

Things are starting to heat up ahead of the holidays for Daredevil: Born Again. Following the news that Michael Gandolfini’s role in the upcoming streaming series was confirmed, insider Daniel RPK has shared word that Colin Woodell (The Flight Attendant, The Purge) has joined the series as a yet unidentified villain.

Woodell’s character looks to be set for just a portion of the 18-episode series but is also set to play a fairly significant role. Described as “intense and inscrutable”, it’s possible that Woodell could be portraying Muse, a serial killer who uses his victims’ blood and body parts to create art. The character was first introduced in Charles Soule’s run on Daredevil, which is believed to be one source of inspiration for Daredevil: Born Again.

Muse would make for a fascinating villain in Born Again should they do a little maneuvering with the origins of his powers. In the comics, Muse is a bit of a sensory black hole and thus becomes incredibly hard for Daredevil to pinpoint early on. Should Marvel Studios be so inclined, they could potentially tie the origin of Muse’s powers to Daredevil’s. Star Charlie Cox has teased the potential for Born Again to retell the origin story of the hero and tying Muse’s origin to it might be one reason to do so.

Daredevil: Born Again is tentatively set to stream on Disney Plus in 2024.

  • Star Wars Reveals Hidden Easter Eggs in ‘Andor’

Star Wars Reveals Hidden Easter Eggs in ‘Andor’

Luthen Rael’s Galactic Antiquities and Objects of Interest was a key location in the first season of Andor, serving as a front for Rael’s work with the Rebellion. Though its true purpose was to serve as a meeting place for fellow Rebels like Mon Mothma, Rael was all about keeping up appearances and had some incredible and rare pieces in his gallery. During the season, fans believed they peeped quite a few interesting artifacts in Rael’s collection and now the official Star Wars Twitter account has unveiled some of the goodies stashed away in the store!

    Lord Starkiller’s Helmet

One of two pieces in Rael’s shop that aren’t from a canon project, this appears to be similar to the helmet worn by Sith assassin Galen Marek, the secret apprentice of Darth Vader! Marek wore the helmet as the Sith known as Lord Starkiller in the video game The Force Unleashed.

    Gungan Shield

A Gungan energy shield as seen in The Phantom Menace! Given Rael’s shop is on Coruscant, maybe this one belonged to Senator and Sith Lord Jar Jar Binks!

    Beskar Armor

This beauty might get Rael in some trouble someday unless he bought it and had proof of purchase. Mandalorians aren’t big on being separated from their Beskar armor; hopefully nobody comes looking for it and makes a mess of the shop!

    Padme’s Headpiece

Whether or not the elaborate headpiece actually once belonged to Padme Amidala isn’t revealed, but given its similarity to the ornate pieces she wore and the fact that Rael has it in his collection, it’s a fair conclusion. Afterall, Rael isn’t in the business of having the used headgear of some normie cluttering up his gallery.

    Jedi Temple Guard Mask

The unmistakable and ornate facemask of a guard of the Jedi Temple rests among Rael’s collection. Given that Andor takes place about 15 years after Order 66 was issued and the Jedi Temple was raided, the mask would probably be a rare piece!

    Holocrons

Holocrons first appeared in The Clone Wars animated series and have since become a staple in canon literature such as novels and comic books. Used to store knowledge and accessible only by Force users, both the Jedi and Sith were fond of holocrons. Rael must be a bit of a completist because he has one of each.

    Sankara Stones

The central MacGuffin of Indiana Jones and The Temple of Doom, the stones were gifted to Sankara from Shiva, the Hindu god of destruction and one of three principal deities of the religion. Used to battle evil, the five stones had some pretty interesting powers and two of them were left in the mine that was a central location to the plot of the film…it’s all connected! Nope, it’s just an Easter egg.

Head over to Star Wars official site for more Easter eggs from the shop!

  • CONFIRMED: Michael Gandolfini Boards ‘Daredevil: Born Again’

CONFIRMED: Michael Gandolfini Boards ‘Daredevil: Born Again’

A day after rumors circulated that Michael Gandolfini had joined the cast of Daredevil: Born Again, the news has been confirmed by Deadline. At the time of the rumor, we speculated that the actor could potentially be playing an up-and-coming mafioso, as his character was described as “an ambitious and earnest risk-taker with a very Staten Island-esque persona.” Unfortunately, Deadline was unable to reveal much else regarding his role, although they did suggest his character’s name might be Liam.

Gandolfini, of course, is perhaps best known for being the son of the late James Gandolfini. The young actor portrayed the younger version of his father’s most iconic character, Tony Soprano, in The Many Saints of Newark. He has since appeared in the Paramount+ limited series The Offer, the feature film Cherry and is next set to appear in Apple TV+’s Extrapolations.

Gandolfini is the first new cast member to be announced for the series. Casting is said to be underway, with the show reportedly looking to cast an actress for the role of White Tiger. Rumors have suggested Jenna Ortega has landed the role, although that has yet to be confirmed.

Daredevil: Born Again will star Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock/Daredevil and Vincent D’Onofrio as Wilson Fisk. The series, which will consist of 18 episodes, is set to begin production in New York next year for a 2024 release.

  • ‘The Midnight Club’ Has Been Canceled at Netflix

‘The Midnight Club’ Has Been Canceled at Netflix

Following the news that Mike Flanagan and Trevor Macy were leaving Netflix for Amazon, it was announced that The Midnight Club has officially been canceled at Netflix. The series, which was an adaptation of Christopher Pike‘s book of the same name, focused on a group of teenagers living at a hospice facility who formed the Midnight Club to share spooky stories with one another.

The show, which debuted in October, was heavily promoted by Netflix, and even had a massive panel at New York Comic Con, where Netflix shared the first episode with audience members ahead of its release. Flanagan went on record to say that the show had been developed as a multi-season series, noting that there was still plenty left to use from Pike’s books. He also revealed that, should the series be canceled, he would share the plans for the show’s future on Twitter.

The Midnight Club starred Iman Benson, Igby Rigney, Ruth Codd, Annarah Cymone, Sauriyan Sapkota, Adia, Aya Furukawa and William Chris Sumpter. All 10 episodes are now streaming on Netflix.

Among the many memorable moments throughout the trailer, we get a good look at Rocket hugging his soulmate.
