  • Chris Hemsworth Calls ‘Thor: Love and Thunder’ the “Greatest Thing” He’s Ever Worked On

Chris Hemsworth Calls ‘Thor: Love and Thunder’ the “Greatest Thing” He’s Ever Worked On

Thor star Chris Hemsworth took to social media ahead of the release of the Thor: Love and Thunder official trailer to hype up fans for the drop on Monday, May 23 during Game 4 of the NBA Eastern Conference Finals. Not only does the veteran Marvel Cinematic Universe actor tell fans that the trailer itself will “blow your mind,” but he goes on to say that Love and Thunder is the “greatest thing” he has ever worked on. In his video, he states:

This trailer is going to blow your mind! It is something that I am so so proud of… [the film] is the greatest thing I have ever had the pleasure and honor of working on.

    Chris Hemsworth

That is high praise coming from a prolific actor who—just in the MCU—has starred in 7 major movies between the Thor and Avengers franchises. So, Hemsworth is hyping up Love and Thunder as, in his experience, greater than films like Thor: Ragnarok, Avengers: Infinity War, and Avengers: Endgame. Of course, the marketing push for the fourth Thor film is ramping up, so naturally, the stars and creators are going to say things to get fans interested. Still, it is poised to be quite an interesting film that could live up to Hemsworth’s praise. Check out the actor’s full video below:

Fans will soon be able to decide for themselves whether the official trailer blows their minds, but here are some of the things we hope to see in it.

Thor: Love and Thunder is set to release in theaters on July 8, 2022.

  • Mike Myers Would be Down to Voice Shrek Every Year

Mike Myers Would be Down to Voice Shrek Every Year

Mike Myers has been quite busy lately with his new Netflix series, The Pentaverate. Surprising everyone, we got the, technically, first live-action Shrek in the series once again voiced by Myers. In an interview with Variety, the actor reflects on his history voicing the character and excitement to do more in the future.

The Euro-centric form that is the fairytale is really about classicism,” Myers said. “When I was approached to do ‘Shrek’ I originally did it as a Canadian and then I re-recorded it as Scottish because that seemed to be the most working class [accent]. I also I love the Scottish people. I have Scottish ancestry. I’m mostly English but Liverpool is the pool of life between Scotland, England, and Ireland.

    Mike Myers

While it seems that a Shrek revival is potentially in the works, there’s still no official word on it. Still, it seems that Mike Myers would be down to play the character every year if he could.

There’s an emotional center there. You know the old joke: I wouldn’t want to be a member of a club that would have me as a member. I have always felt that way. The concept of going from a self-loathing ogre to a self-accepting ogre was meaningful to me. I love playing ‘Shrek’. If I had to do one ‘Shrek’ a year I’d be thrilled.

    Mike Myers

Not only was the original franchise quite a financial success, but it also put Dreamworks on the map. Even if we haven’t had an entry for years, the franchise definitely became a milestone for the mem community, which have had quite a lot of fun using the character in whatever way they could. So, no matter what, the franchise will remain a strong one.

  • New ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’ Crew Merch May Further Hint at Mayan Influences on MCU’s Atlantis

New ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’ Crew Merch May Further Hint at Mayan Influences on MCU’s Atlantis

It looks like some more things are finding their way online from the upcoming release of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. Not only did it seem like a blurry image of what might be Tenoch Huerta‘s Namor leak online, but now some crew merchandise has also surfaced online. Now, what stands out is that besides the iconic Wakandan language, you can see a baseball cap with what seems like Tepeyollotl on it, who is the Aztec Jaguar God. Further highlighting the potential Mayan and Aztec influences on the MCU’s Atlantis.

The fact that the Jaguar God is focused on is quite an interesting direction to take the concept. In a way, it would hint that perhaps Atlantis has a similar origin that Wakanda had. A chosen warrior by their feline god gives them the power to protect their kingdom, perhaps a misunderstanding of how the mutation works that Namor inherits. Both cities stayed hidden and developed in a way that the rest of the world could not keep up with.

Whatever may lead to a potential conflict between Atlantis and Wakanda may also be played into their origin. Perhaps knowing that they both went through similar things, the eventual conflict could be ended through some form of diplomacy. Of course, it also raises the question if Atlantis’ attack may also be echoed by their beliefs. Fun fact, a panther is commonly referred to a Jaguar or Leopard with black fur.

  • RUMOR: Possible First Look at ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’s Namor Leaked

RUMOR: Possible First Look at ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’s Namor Leaked

Here’s a rather sudden surprise but it looks like a blurry first image of Namor has found its way online, who will make his premiere in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. It’s been long rumored that Tenoch Huerta is taking on the role of the Submariner, even if we never got an official confirmation from Marvel Studios. While the design is very blurry, it does offer a first glimpse at what he might look like, and how they’ll translate it from the comics. The design also seems to match what another leaker, @MyTimeToShineHello has shared not too long ago.

While the blurred image maeks it difficult to make out details, the design does seem strongly inspired by Namor’s original costume design with the green trunks. As per usual with any MCU adaptation, they’ve added some new flourishes like gauntlets on his arms. It does also seem like he has a piece around his neck, but it’s unclear what exactly it is.

The biggest confirmation, if this image turns out to be real, is that Marvel Studios is not shying away from his iconic feet wings. The character is known as one of the first Mutants introduce din the MCU, and that mutation was in the form of him having wings on his feet. While it seems like it could just be an armor piece, we’ll have to see if we get a reveal of some kind in the near future to confirm this comic-accurate detail. For now, we can only speculate.

  • New ‘Black Adam’ Funko Spotted With Hawkman’s Ship

New ‘Black Adam’ Funko Spotted With Hawkman’s Ship

It’s been over a year since we first heard descriptions of Hawkman’s iconic ship making its ways to the live-action Black Adam film. While the first tease didn’t give us a good look at it, a new Funko Pop has been spotted in the wild that includes Hawkman riding his ship. While it’ll likely look quite a bit different in live-action, it does seem like it’s our first look at his ship in the upcoming film.

The other set of Funko Pops we’re first seen a few weeks ago, as we got our first look at the film’s villain Sabbac, alongside the Justice Society of America members and two Black Adam-focused Funko Pops. At the time, the ship wasn’t included, so it’s a nice surprise that they are also releasing one.

There is a chance that he doesn’t actually have his own ship, but the team of the Justice Society is actively using one. They could’ve reused Thanagarian technology, which would be a great way to confirm the origin of this version of the character, while also giving the team a way to keep up with Black Adam, who’ll likely just fly from one location to the next whenever he pleases. For now, we can only speculate.

  • What We Want to See In the ‘Thor: Love and Thunder’ Trailer

What We Want to See In the ‘Thor: Love and Thunder’ Trailer

The Thor: Love and Thunder teaser trailer dropped just weeks ago, and now Marvel Studios is gearing up to release the official trailer for the fourth Thor film this upcoming Monday. While the teaser trailer certainly gave viewers their first look at several things, including Chris Hemsworth’s cross-fit Thor, the guest-starring Guardians of the Galaxy, Tessa Thompson’s King Valkyrie, as well as Natalie Portman’s Mighty Thor… it ended up leaving plenty to be desired.

Some are confused about the tone of the Taika Waititi-directed follow up to Thor: Ragnarok, but the teaser trailer also left out major elements of Love and Thunder, including any hint at the plot. Of course, the official trailer will not give away the entire film, but there are without a doubt certain things that fans are hoping to see most in the Love and Thunder trailer on Monday.

First and foremost, the thing everyone wants to get their first glimpse at is Christian Bale’s Gorr the God Butcher. As the antagonist of the film, getting a good look at him will surely help viewers get a stronger sense of what to expect. More importantly, who wouldn’t be excited to see how the filmmakers ended up designing and creating the Academy Award-winner’s look for the role? Assuming it took any inspiration from the comics, it should be quite the gnarly look for Bale. Past the appearance, it would be great if the trailer gave the villain a little time to be, well, villainous. As a butcher of gods, the guy is set to be fairly frightening, so hopefully the trailer will build him up ahead of Love and Thunder’s July release.

As the trailer and promotional images have made it clear, the Thor movie is about two Thors—Hemsworth’s and Portman’s Mighty Thor. Jane Foster was present as the biggest tease of the teaser trailer, so her presence could be confusing or mysterious to those less familiar with the character from the comics. Even the comics aficionado is pretty much in the dark with respect to how Jane ended up with a pieced-together Mjolnir given where the character left off in Thor: The Dark World almost a decade ago. It would be great if the trailer made her return a bit more understandable and also give her the proper foundation as one of the most important players of the film. Seeing her interact with Thor after all this time could also be quite entertaining.

Considering Waititi has described the upcoming film as a full-blown love story, the trailer could certainly spare to share a bit of the “love” in Love and Thunder. The writer-director also teased that the romantic pairings may not be what viewers expect. The trailer does not need to and will not give away any surprises meant to be revealed in the actual film, but giving away a smidge of the “love story” could also give shape to the film and help set the tone.

Any additional information on King Valkyrie’s role as leader of New Asgard would be fun. We have seen brief shots of her at what looks like some global political council or conference, so an update on how New Asgard has integrated into Earth’s society would be interesting and set up Valkyrie’s role a bit more.

Lastly, of course, where is Miek? We need some Miek.

Thor: Love and Thunder hits theaters on July 8, 2022. You can catch the official trailer on May 23, 2022 during Game 4 of the NBA Eastern Conference Finals.

  • ‘Doctor Strange 2’ Takes ‘Avengers’ 10-Year Record at the Domestic Box Office, Passes $800M Worldwide

‘Doctor Strange 2’ Takes ‘Avengers’ 10-Year Record at the Domestic Box Office, Passes $800M Worldwide

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness may have faced a harsh drop in its second weekend, but it’s seemingly still holding on strong. The film is now the highest-grossing film for the third weekend in a row, as even the new Downton Abbey film not managing to take it down, as it ends the weekend with $18M, even with a strong A CinemaScore. It should be pointed out that Multiverse of Madness had a 50% drop in its second domestic weekend, which is far more common even after the initial drop, highlighting just how frontloaded those Thursday preview screenings were. It’ll wrap up the third weekend with around $30M.

It should be noticed that this is the first time in 10 years that a film managed to hold on to the #1 spot over three weekends in May. The last one was 2012’s breakout hit, the first Avengers film. If you’re wondering why Avengers: Endgame doesn’t count, the film was released in April and was only two May weekends in the top spot before being dethroned in its third by John Wick Chapter 3 – Parabellum. Multiverse of Madness has held on to that spot since its release on May 5th.

That is not all, as the film has now officially passed $800M at the worldwide box office, $803M to be precise, with some incredible holds internationally without some key markets, which probably would’ve pushed it towards a billion. At this rate, the film is likely to end its domestic box office just shy of $400M but should pass $900M worldwide.

With this weekend, it has now also become the highest-grossing film of 2022 so far, as it dethroned The Batman. The DC film pulled in around $768M with a very strong $369M domestically, which saw some strongholds throughout its weekends. As of now, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness may not pass a billion but it certainly saw quite the increase for a sequel of 2016’s Doctor Strange and definitely can be considered a box office success for Marvel Studios.

  • Deborah Chow on Tackling ‘Obi-Wan Kenobi’ as a Limited Series, Makes ‘Logan’ Comparison

Deborah Chow on Tackling ‘Obi-Wan Kenobi’ as a Limited Series, Makes ‘Logan’ Comparison

Obi-Wan Kenobi is the first Disney+ series to get marketed as a “limited series” while others, like Moon Knight, kept it vaguely open in case it got enough fanfare asking for more. While most of the series never really got an announcement, it was a nice surprise when it was confirmed as one. It looks like that was something head writer Deborah Chow also wanted to do with the project, as she wants to use this opportunity to further explore the character of Obi-Wan Kenobi and what he’s going through after the events of Revenge of the Sith. In the press conference, she talked about how this approach excited her for the Disney+ series.

I was really excited of the idea to do a limited series for one. Just because you get to tell a bigger story, but you also get the time to really get into the character. I think first and foremost, I was the most excited about doing a character-driven story and really kind of having the opportunity to get more depth, and have more time to really get to know the character.

    Deborah Chow

She also highlights films like Joker and Logan, which take the iconic characters out of the bigger franchises and further explores their place in that world. In a way, the series is closer to Logan which took a look at its main character suffering from the events that led to them losing everyone they cared about.

In a similar way, it’s a different tone, but something like Joker and Logan. Where you take one character out of a big franchise and then you really have the time and you go a lot deeper with the character. That, to me, seemed really exciting to do in Star Wars.

    Deborah Chow

There’s definitely something really interesting about taking a closer look at the character’s storylines without the weight of the entire franchise having to continue its story. The Mandalorian’s big draw was this isolated story within a galaxy far far away. perhaps this also opens up the possibility to explore other storylines from characters we’ve come to love over the years.

  • Ariana DeBose Offers Update on ‘Kraven the Hunter’

Ariana DeBose Offers Update on ‘Kraven the Hunter’

Hot off of her success with West Side Story, Ariana DeBose has joined her first major blockbuster production. While many Marvel fans were hoping to see her as part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it was Sony that ended up casting her first in the role of the voodoo priestess Calypso in their live-action Kraven the Hunter movie.

Not much is known about how they’ll adapt her character into live-action, but she did offer a small update on how far the production is coming along in an interview with Deadline.

It’s cool. It’s going well. I mean, for as much as I believe I’m allowed to say about it, I think it’s going swimmingly.

    Ariana DeBose

She also talked about what it’s like being part of a franchise as large as Marvel, highlighting her excitement on being involved with the role but also what her focus is when taking a role, no matter what project it is.

Yeah. I’m proud of them. I think all of these franchise pieces, it’s all about your growth. And it’s exciting to be a part of something that feels like it’s taking a step in a different direction. I feel like they’re just allowing this to live in whatever world it needs to live in, which is kind of cool. I don’t like work experiences, period, where I feel like I’m asked to fit a box, because my job is to discover the box and to define the box. That’s my job, in my opinion. I mean, it is 2022.

    Ariana DeBose

As it’s another Spider-Man spinoff without the iconic wallcrawler, there are many questions on how they might adapt the character’s origin story and how it may fit into the overall world they are building. Morbius‘ post-credit sequence hinted at a potential Sinister Six team featuring a dimension traveling Vulture, but at this point, it’s difficult to say what the future has in store for Sony’s Marvel franchise.

  • ‘Mission Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One’ Trailer Seemingly Leaks Online

‘Mission Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One’ Trailer Seemingly Leaks Online

Here’s a rather surprising leak, as it seems that the trailer for Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part 1 has seemingly found its way online. Even as the film is eyeing a 2023 release, it seems that a two-minute trailer was found online and shared by Twitter user @AceyMainman. It’s quite curious that a high-quality version of this trailer found its way online, as it almost looks like a version that possibly was showcased during CinemaCon.

    https://twitter.com/AceyMainman/status/1528124222190460928?s=20&t=sH71ROxvGlyTfosulCU5cA

The trailer is definitely showcasing the exciting action that we’ve come accustomed to with a Tom Cruise-led film, especially in the Mission: Impossible franchise. Christopher McQuarrie once again is taking the lead on the project. He has been directing the franchise since Rogue Nation back in 2015 and has a long history of working with Tom Cruise on various projects, including writing Edge of Tomorrow, Valkyrie, Jack Reacher, and even The Mummy.

The film is now the seventh entry and will act as the first of two parts. Its leak would hint that they may be potentially releasing it at some point given the high quality, but it’s strange considering the film won’t release until July 2023. Its sequel won’t even hit theaters until June 2024, as there’s been a bit of an internal conflict between Cruise and Paramount. So, we’ll see what the future has in store but it does seem like they may want to bank on Tom Cruise‘s star power with the release of Top Gun: Maverick.
