‘Scream 6’ Is Officially Happening

Scream kicked off 2022 with a bang as it brought audiences back to the fictional town of Woodsboro. The fifth installment in the horror franchise was a smash hit at the box office, garnering praise from both fans and critics. It seems fans won’t have to wait too long for another meta-fueled slasher flick as Paramount is already in development on the sixth film in the series.

Deadline is reporting that Paramount and Spyglass Entertainment has greenlit the next Scream film. Tyler Gillet and Matt Bettinelli-Olpin will return to direct the film with James Vanderbilt and Guy Busick co-writing the screenplay. Vanderbilt, Paul Neinstein, and William Sherak will produce the project with Kevin Williamson, Chad Villella, Gary Barber, and Peter Oillataguerre serving as executive producers on the project.

“Working with such a wonderful and talented family of creators – and in the lineage Wes and Kevin so expertly built – has been the thrill of a lifetime and we’re so excited to bring the next chapter in the ‘Scream’ saga to life,”

Work on the project is already set to begin this summer with plot details still under wraps. No casting announcements have been made just yet so it’s unknown just who will return from Scream.

We are tremendously grateful to the fans around the world who enthusiastically received our film. We can’t wait for audiences to see what Radio Silence, writers Jamie & Guy and Project X have in store for our Woodsboro family”
