‘She-Hulk’ Case Files: Who Is Man-Bull?

Court is now in session and Jennifer Walters is here to reprsent the defendant in the matter of Superhuman law. She-Hulk: Attorney at Law has finally hit Disney+ as the next installment of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and seems to be one of the studios most unique projects yet. With it comes a whole slew of C-listers and D-Lister heroes and villains that have found themselves in legal trouble.

The Prosecution Calls To The Stand: Man-Bull!

Before he was the monstrosity he is now, William Taurens, also known as Bull Taurus, was a goon that worked for Mr. Kline, an android known as MK-9 sent from the future to stop an impending apocalypse posing as a mob boss. Kline had tasked Taurens and his partner in crime, Itch to kidnap random people off the streets to be used as subjects in his testing trials. William and Itch were stopped by Daredevil, but due to their failure, were subject to MK-9’s test themselves in which William Taurens was transformed into the malignant mammal we know today.

This punishment didn’t stop him, however, as Taurens hit the streets yet again, intent on kidnapping more victims. Of course, Daredevil stopped him once more, and he reverted back to his human form.

When in Man-Bull form, Taurens possesses some pretty basic superhuman abilities such as strength, invulnerability and endurance. When in a state of intense rage his adrenaline pushes him into an unstable mood that actually allows him to control bovines through psionic means.

Mann-Bull made his live-action debut in She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, now streaming on Disney+.

She-Hulk: Attorney at Law has finally hit Disney+ as the next installment of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and seems to be one of the studios most unique projects yet. The Prosecution Calls To The Stand: The Porcupine!

First appearing in Tales To Astonish #48 in July of 1963, Alexander Gentry worked for the United States military as a weapons designer. Gentry began developing a porcupine-based battle suit, working long nights to make breakthroughs on his project. As he finally completed the suit he quickly became concerned that the US government would not properly compensate him for his hard work and believed he would be much better off using the suit himself as a means for monetary gain.

Gentry made his debut as the quilled criminal during the grand opening of a supposed “burglar-proof” bank where he went toe-to-toe with Giant-Man and The Wasp. Porcupine faced off against the two heroes a few more times but would eventually be defeated when he attempted to grow to Giant-Man’s size after stealing some of Hank Pym’s growth pills, realizing too late that he’d actually swallowed shrinking pills.

The Porcupine battlesuit allowed its wearer enhanced strength and durability as well as an array of trick quills. Some of the quills were just basic sharp projectiles that could be fired from the suit but others consisted of lasers, rockets, sleeping gas, smoke bombs, tear gas, torches, electricity blast, and concussion bombs.

The Porcupine made his live-action debut on She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, streaming every Wednesday on Disney+.

Court is now in session and Jennifer Walters is here to represent the defendant in the matter of Superhuman law. She-Hulk: Attorney at Law has finally hit Disney+ as the next installment of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and seems to be one of the studio’s most unique projects yet. With it comes a whole slew of C-listers and D-Lister heroes and villains that have found themselves in legal trouble.

The Prosecution Calls To The Stand: El Aguila!

First appearing in Power Man and Iron Fist #58, Alejandro Montoya was a mutant born in Spain who kept his abilities a secret until he took up the identity of the vigilante El Aguila. Inspired by his childhood hero, Zorro, Montoya hit the streets of New York as a modern-day swashbuckling Robin Hood, fighting crime and taking down mob bosses to redistribute the money to the poor of the city. These late-night heroics eventually lead Aguila right to the Heroes for Hire, Power Man and Iron Fist. Ultimately, Montoya teamed up with the duo to save Jeryn Hogarth from would-be assassins.

Aguila’s mutant abilities give him the power to generate electrostatic charges and discharge up to 100,000 volts. He harnessed this power through his rapier as the vigilante was a skilled swordsman as well as an acrobat and master of hand-to-hand combat. Currently, the character remains depowered as a direct result of the M-Day event, losing his abilities due to Scarlet Witch’s altering of reality.

El Aguila made his live-action debut in She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, now streaming every Wednesday on Disney+.

‘She-Hulk’ Case Files: Who is Mr.Immortal?

Court is now in session and Jennifer Walters is here to represent the defendant in the matter of Superhuman law. She-Hulk: Attorney at Law has finally hit Disney+ as the next installment of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and seems to be one of the studio’s most unique projects yet. With it comes a whole slew of C-listers and D-Lister heroes and villains that have found themselves in legal trouble.

The Prosecution Calls To The Stand: Mr. Immortal!

Craig Hollis, better known as Mr. Immortal first appeared in July of 1989 in The West Coast Avengers Vol. 2 #46 and was created by Marvel Comics legend John Byrne. Just moments after his birth, before the death of his mother, Craig Hollis was visited by Deathurge who promised to look after Craig after his mother passed. Deathurge would act as a sort of imaginary friend to Craig, encouraging him to do incredibly dangerous things that would result in the death of his father after setting his house on fire. Deathurge then abandoned Craig until the love of his life killed herself, returning only to promptly leave once more. Craig attempted to kill himself but when his attempts failed numerous times, realized that he was unkillable…perhaps even immortal.

After realizing this, Craig adopted the mantle of Mr.Immortal and jumped into action to foil the plans of some nearby bank robbers, but was quickly shot up by said robbers and left behind. That debacle inspired Craig to put together a team, thus bringing about the Great Lakes Avengers, bringing characters like Flatman, Doorman, Dina Soar, Leather Boy, and Big Bertha to the pages of Marvel Comics.

Mr. Immortal’s abilities are pretty straightforward but come with a catch: his healing factor only kicks in when he faces life-threatening injuries. Simple cuts, bruises, and broken bones heal at a normal rate compared to him being shot, stabbed, gutted, decapitated, drowned, crushed, or any other way to kill a man. On top of all that, his body does not age as normally as others. Upon revival, however, he’s filled with an incredible rage that is difficult to knock out of him.

  • REVIEW: ‘Stargirl’ Episode 3×04, “The Evidence”

REVIEW: ‘Stargirl’ Episode 3×04, “The Evidence”

The previous episode of Stargirl left us with a mighty cliffhanger, as Sylvester Pemberton seemingly lay lifeless while doing some investigating of his own and being attacked by an unknown assailant. Episode 4 furthers the murder mystery in Blue Valley while throwing the spotlight onto a suspect that was thought to have perished towards the end of Season 1, leading the Justice Society to question a recent allegiance and Courtney distracted by a blossoming romance.

‘The Evidence” moves the story ahead in a productive way, but it can feel like it’s spending a bit more time on its b-plots rather than focusing on the premise of the episode. We’re given much more character moments, ones that have felt lacking throughout this season specifically between Pat and Sylvester. The duo had butted heads a bit and had their moments, but it never felt like they got those moments of growth until now, with the once great sidekick known as Stripesy acting as Pemberton’s anchor and helping to guide him towards a new purpose in life.

DC’s Stargirl — “Frenemies – Chapter Four: The Evidence” — Image Number: STG304g_0007r — Pictured (L – R): Luke Wilson as Pat Dugan and Brec Bassinger as Courtney Whitmore / Stargirl, and Joel McHale as Sylvester Pemberton / Starman — Photo: The CW — © 2022 The CW Network, LLC. It felt as if the biggest part of the episode was cast aside and not given attention until the final minutes of the episode. The episode title leads you to believe that they’d found something shocking that’ll push the story on forward more, when in reality, it just sets that up for presumably what is to come in the next episode. A dragon scale at the scene of the crime leads the team to believe that Dragon King could be back in play, hypothesizing that his numerous experiments on himself could’ve brought him back, with others showing their reluctance to trust and immediately throwing the blame onto the newly pardoned Cindy Burman, whom the audience themselves isn’t all that sure they should be trusting either.

The biggest revelation of this episode would be Dr. McNiders diagnosis of just what is going on with Sylvester Pemberton and how he’s been able to return after spending ten years six feet under. McNider believes that prolonged exposure to the Cosmic Staff has energized Pemberton’s body, similar to how Jade was imbued with the power of the starheart. This reveal just feels a little murky, feeling like you should be scratching your head a little bit because… that’s it? It just felt like something so important was so casually revealed and could’ve been built up to a little bit more.

Another bright spot of this episode is finally seeing some payoff to the relationship set up between Cameron Mahkent and Courtney Whitmore, something that’s been planted since season one. This episode reaffirms just what kind of person Courtney is because when she sees someone in need, she’s going to jump into action, no matter what else is going on. She can see Cameron struggling with his newfound cryokinesis abilities and feels the need to help him, when deep down we can feel the guilt she holds knowing the true fate of his father, feeling like she owes him while crushing on him at the same time.

To cap it off we get a better glimpse of just what exactly is going on behind the scenes, as the Helix Institute has yet to make its presence known, we got a peek at Mister Bones within a room full of monitors, a much better look at the villain and the series seems to tease his arrival is getting closer and closer. Not a bad episode, but not necessarily the strongest episode of the season.

  • Brec Bassinger May Have Confirmed a Rumored ‘Stargirl’ and ‘Titans’ Crossover

Brec Bassinger May Have Confirmed a Rumored ‘Stargirl’ and ‘Titans’ Crossover

Warner Bros. Discovery is going through a bit of a transitional period as of right now with many projects up in the air for now. Many were wondering if this would also affect shows like Titans, Stargirl and Doom Patrol following the plug being pulled on quite a few projects. Luckily, it seems they aren’t done with these series yet.

With recent news that the fourth season of Titans would premiere in November, Stargirl actress Brec Bassinger teased that she could be making her way to the blue-filtered world. In the past few weeks, we have seen a few rumors hint at a crossover between Geoff Johns‘ series, Titans, Stargirl, and Doom Patrol, which would all come together as a culmination of the past few years. it seems Brec has all but confirmed that.

Below you’ll see a recently shared photo of Bassinger suited up as Stargirl alongside Ryan Potter as Beast Boy, who if you look close enough can see he looks to be wearing an all-new suit and finally shed that dreaded jacket.

Details on this crossover still remain under wraps and it’s unknown just how the Titans cross paths with the citizens of Blue Valley. Seems like the Titans could meet their universe’s version of Courtney, as they head back to San Francisco considering the two shows were confirmed to be taking place on different earths within the new DC Multiverse, which was created following the events of the CW’s Crisis on Infinite Earths event.

It remains unknown just who from the Titans and Doom Patrol cast will appear and just where this crossover will even happen. Both Titans and Doom Patrol season 4 have wrapped filming with Titans set to debut sometime in November.

  • ‘Constantine’ and ‘Madame X’ Dead at HBO Max, Will Be Shopped Elsewhere

‘Constantine’ and ‘Madame X’ Dead at HBO Max, Will Be Shopped Elsewhere

Back in 2020, JJ Abrams signed a massive deal with HBO Max for his production company, Bad Robot. The deal would give him exclusive access to developing projects from the supernatural side of the DC Universe, specifically Justice League Dark. While numerous projects were announced throughout the years, and one seemed to have secured a leading actor, nothing ever became of the deal. Unfortunately, now it looks as though two projects being developed under the deal are no longer moving forward — at least, not at HBO Max.

Upon today’s news that, after seventeen years, a sequel to the Keanu Reeves film, Constantine, is in the works, Variety confirmed that JJ Abrams and Bad Robot’s upcoming Constantine and Madame Xanadu series will halt development at HBO Max. The plan is for the shows to be shopped elsewhere. It is of note that the decision was reportedly not due to creative issues.

This, of course, shouldn’t be entirely surprising. News of the Constantine sequel noted that Abrams would be involved, which could hint that he may have possibly dumped previous plans with the series and could build his Justice League Dark universe from there.

There is still the matter of the Zatanna film, though, which is currently set to be penned by Emerald Fennel who is best known for her award-winning work on Promising Young Woman. It’s unknown if Abrams is involved in that project at all, but his overall deal with WB would suggest that he is indeed involved.

Abrams will work with the original film’s director, Francis Lawrence, and Akiva Goldsman on the Constantine sequel which will see Keanu Reeves return to the titular role. There is currently no word on where the other series will be shopped to or if anyone at all shows interest in the projects.

  • REVIEW: ‘Stargirl’ 3×03: “The Blackmail”

    REVIEW: ‘Stargirl’ 3×03: “The Blackmail”

A period of change can be incredibly stressful for any person, whether you’re trying to find a new job or if you’re uprooting your entire life. You never know where it might lead you. Yet, what happens when that big period of change is being buried alive? Well, Sylvester Pemberton is living that very nightmare and Stargirl has certainly flipped the veteran hero’s life upside down.

The episode dives deeper into the suspects on the board that was set in the last episode. This time around it shifts its focus onto the Crock’s, as the team finds out that they’d been blackmailed by the Gambler for months. A little more of the Crocks is never a bad thing though, one of the best choices they could’ve made was bringing back Neil Hopkins and Joy Osmanski for season 3. The two just have great chemistry together as they somehow have this perfect harmony when interacting with each other.

The reintroduction of Starman has been a surprisingly classic fish out of water story. Joel McHale works incredibly well as an out-of-touch, grizzled hero who just doesn’t know what his place in the world is anymore. The parallels between him and Courtney, as well as how they choose to act with the power of the Cosmic Staff gives the show an interesting balance.

Fans will also find some enjoyment in a perfectly choreographed fight sequence within a grocery store. With that worryingly impulsive nature, Starman takes things into his own hands to confront the Crocks, leading to an dynamic and incredibly pleasing scuffle between him and the duo of Sportsmaster and Tigress.

The stunt team for this series deserves some insane recognition for what they managed to put together. It’s one of the best aspects of the show that they continously improve upon and push the limits of whats possible for these characters. The dual style that Sportsmaster and Tigress have mastered truly makes this sequence pop the way it does.

The best way to watch this season is to get into the mindset as if you’re watching an experiment unfold, seeing how these characters continue to coexist as if they’re reactive materials that could easily lead to an explosion at any time. In a way, it feels like a whole new way to enjoy the veteran show on CW.

  • Brendan Fraser Calls Cancellation of ‘Batgirl’ “Disappointing”

Brendan Fraser Calls Cancellation of ‘Batgirl’ “Disappointing”

We’ve found ourselves smack in a Brendanaissance as Brendan Fraser makes his triumphant return to Hollywood. The actor has been making quite the comeback in the past few years like with DC’s Doom Patrol and has been receiving quite a bit of praise for his work in the upcoming Darren Aronofsky film The Whale. Fans were excited to see Fraser return to the DC Multiverse in an antagonist role for Batgirl, but sadly Warner Brothers Discovery decided to throw a wrench into the plans and cancel the film.

In an interview with Variety, the actor shared his disappointment in an interview with Variety in regards to the decision, even going as far as to call out Warner Bros. Discovery’s CFO for downplaying the recent events.

Well stop talking about it because Gunnar Wiedenfels does not want people thinking about this, thats what I read. Its disappointing, the fans really wanted to see this film made. I was there, Leslie Grace is a dynamo, like she’s like a power q-tip, she just goes for it, she looks great in the outfit, the movie itself was shot and conceived for a smaller screen and in this age that we’ve come out of now, between streaming service vs theatrical release, it wound up being the canary in the coal mine. So, what can we learn from this? Work with trusted filmmakers, like Darren [Aronofsky].

    Brendan Fraser

Fraser was set to play Firefly, a violent arsonist who’d been let down by the system and turned to a life of crime in order to support his family, taking his fiery rage to the streets of Gotham City in order to make ends meet. We can only hope that one day the film somehow sees the light of day, but for now, fans will have to get their fill of Fraser in the DC Universe with Doom Patrol, with a new season coming soon.
