SDCC: Theory Reveals the Identities of Doom’s Coven of Latverian Witches in ‘Avengers: Doomsday’

Ahead of Marvel Studios’ Hall H presentation at San Diego Comic Con, the studio’s Doomsday display on the convention floor has stirred up a whirlwind of rumors, speculation and theories about a mysterious collection of characters.

On display along with several other costumes from the fifth Avengers film is a “Latverian Witch” costume. When media outlets first saw the display on preview night, a green costume was present. In the two days since, a reddish-brown and purple costume have appeared in the same location. While the appearance of the costumes confirms plot leaks that indicated Doom would have a coven of witches at his side in the film, the changing colors of the costumes have caused a stir as fans have begun to theorize who might be behind the masks. Now, one theory has taken hold and begin to energize a very vocal segment of social media.

The theory in question relates the colors of the costumes to those worn by magic users who have previously appeared in the MCU. It speculates that the green costume will be worn by the Sylvie, the Loki Variant from D+’s Loki series; the purple costume worn by Clea, who made a brief appearance in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness; and the final costume will be hiding Wanda Maximoff, the Scarlet Witch, whose fate was left unclear in the same film.

Doom surrounding himself with and potentially stealing from powerful magic users would be in line with his character and with a theory that he’ll eventually steal Loki’s powers to recreate the universe to his liking.
