UNTITLED MARVEL which was previously dated on 11/10/23 moves to 11/3/23

No further information was given by Disney as to why the films were moved. While production of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever was briefly delayed, productions on Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and Thor: Love and Thunder have wrapped and The Marvels and Ant-Man and The Wasp Quantumania have, as far as we know proceeded without problems.

The updates mean Marvel Studios will only have 3 films in theaters in 2022. And while they still look to put 4 in theaters in 2023, Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania has now been moved to July, meaning it’s release will now be AFTER Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.

Four films remain on Marvel Studios 2024 slate with flags planted on February 16th, May 3rd, July 26th and November 8th.

In total, one film was removed from the upcoming Marvel Studios slate.

With the changes, the updated release slate looks like this:

    November 5, 2021: Eternals
December 15, 2021: Spider-Man: No Way Home, in collaboration with Sony
May 6, 2022: Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness
July 8, 2022: Thor: Love and Thunder
November 11, 2022: Black Panther: Wakanda Forever
    February 17, 2023: The Marvels
May 5, 2023: Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3
July 28, 2023: Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania
November 3, 2023: Untitled Marvel Studios film
February 16, 2024: Untitled Marvel Studios film
May 3, 2024: Untitled Marvel Studios film
July 26, 2024: Untitled Marvel Studios film
November 8, 2024: Untitled Marvel Studios film

Captain America 4 and Blade were expected to be the next two films to enter into production, and Fantastic Four and Deadpool 3 are believed to be high up on the list as well.

We’ll continue to update this story as it develops.

  • Marvel Studios: Viewing Orders

    Marvel Studios: Viewing Orders

With over two dozen projects comprising the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it’s sometimes easy to lose track of the order through which audiences should experience them. It is, of course, something pretty fluid as personal preferences might have some skipping a couple of projects in favor of their favorite ones. All in all, there are two general viewing orders that contain the entirety of the MCU. A Release Order, which respects the order in which projects were made available through the years, and a Chronological Order, which takes into account when each project’s plot takes place.

Personally speaking, the Release Order should be followed when watching all MCU projects for the first time, with the Chronological Order being something to use on rewatches. This is mostly due to the fact that major plot points would be spoiled if not watching the entirety of the franchise as it was released, similar to the way audiences watching Star Wars for the first time would be spoiled The Empire Strikes Back‘s major plot twist by having previously watched the prequel trilogy.

    CHARACTER VIEWING ORDERS

When it comes to following specific characters, we got together individual viewing orders with their appearances through the years. These can be as a central character to the plot or as blink-and-you-miss type cameos, many on mid or post-credit scenes. Keep in mind this is a work in progress, as new characters will keep being added.

  • EXCLUSIVE: ‘CAPTAIN MARVEL’ Producer Teases Ronan the Accuser’s Possible Return

EXCLUSIVE: ‘CAPTAIN MARVEL’ Producer Teases Ronan the Accuser’s Possible Return

Jonathan Schwartz has been involved in the MCU for over a decade, having served as an assistant to Kevin Feige before tackling the role of producer in a number of Marvel productions. Before Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, he was involved in projects that deal more with the cosmic side of the MCU, having produced both Guardians of the Galaxy volumes and Captain Marvel‘s debut feature. Having similar settings means that there are a few characters that appeared on both IPs, one of the most notable being Ronan The Accuser. This makes Schwartz, a member of Marvel Studios’ Parliament, the studio’s creative committee, a voice to be heard when regarding the Kree warlord.

We saw Ronan’s apparent death in 2014’s Guardians of the Galaxy with the character being brought back in Captain Marvel as that movie’s plot was set 20 years earlier. Being a fan favorite it’s fair to say many would like to see Ronan returning in all his glory. We asked about that possibility and Schwartz had this to say:

I’m a big fan of Ronan. I’m a big fan of Lee [Pace]. And I would say “Never say never.”

With all current Marvel storylines having moved past the point of Ronan’s death, it might be fair to assume that if he does make a comeback, it won’t be the same Ronan we met in 2014. But with Marvel Studios introducing the Multiverse in their projects, with What If…? opening the door for many characters to return to the MCU after being killed off in the main timeline, Ronan should indeed be on the top of the list of characters that could return in order to fulfill their comic book potential on the big (or small) screen.

  • Multiverse Discourse: Exploring 5 Potential ‘What If…?’ Stories

Multiverse Discourse: Exploring 5 Potential ‘What If…?’ Stories

The upcoming Disney+ series, What If…? is set to explore vast new realities in the Marvel Cinematic Multiverse.  It’ll flip the scripts on the many films and stories we’ve witnessed over the years. The show can truly pan out in several unexpected ways, and it’ll leave the imagination to wander in how many ways events could have gone differently. We already know a couple of the scenarios that are meant to take place, like Agent Carter receiving the Super Soldier serum, and Yondu picking up T’Challa instead of Peter Quill. But with an infinite number of realities, there are so many potential concepts and events that this show could explore. This is why we turned to the wonderful people in our Knowhere Discord server and asked them to come up with possible new What If scenarios they would like to see play out in future seasons of the show.

What if Wanda Maximoff Became the Sorcerer Supreme?

In this alternate reality, Wanda Maximoff would have gone through the same journey as Doctor Strange. She sets out to search for Kamar-Taj in hopes of looking for an understanding of her power. Upon finding it and meeting the Ancient One, rather than meeting Tilda Swinton‘s version of the character, it is Agatha Harkness holding the mantle. This is would set up quite the twist on what the audience would normally come to expect. The idea of Harkness defeating the Ancient One and taking her place as the Sorcerer Supreme has many implications. She transformed Kamar-Taj into a new coven to train the next generation of witches. Wanda taking on her mantle and follow in the witch’s footsteps would be quite a fascinating storyline.

What if Mysterio’s Original Plan Worked?

In this particular scenario, we explore a universe in which Quentin Beck’s identity was never figured out by Peter in Far From Home. In this reality, the audience would get the opportunity to see what a world with Mysterio in a position of power, similar to the likes of Iron Man or Captain America, would look like. If his plan had worked, the governments of the world would grant him access to power and weaponry. He would continue his fantasy of being a hero and fight fake enemies all around with illusions and such. As time would go on, however, and given how unstable he was, he could have potentially fallen prey to his own illusions and end up escalating the situation. It could even lead to governments potentially taking nuclear action and plunging the world into potential chaos.

    What if Quicksilver Survived?

This was an idea that had always been played around with since the release of Avengers: Age of Ultron. Given how the MCU played out following the events of the film, it would have been interesting to see what role Pietro could’ve had in Captain America: Civil War. Imagine a scenario in which Pietro joins Tony’s side after understanding his guilt. The idea of Pietro and Wanda being on opposite sides of the confrontation would add a curious twist to the original storyline. And if Pietro continued to survive even into  Avengers: Infinity War, it opens up the question of how he would move on with his life after losing his sister to the Snap. What could he have done in those past 5 years?

What if the Villains Fought Thanos?

Fan-Art piece by Saif Z.K and Leroy Fernandes.

Our Discord very much supported this idea and had many concepts as to how this particular scenario could have played out. In a world where every single hero failed to defeat their proper villain, it introduces a scenario in which each respective villain dominated an aspect of the MCU. Yet, if Thanos threatened the villains’ way of life by continuing with his plan to wipe out half of the universe, it would be an interesting play on the events of Infinity War with all the villains joining forces to ultimately do an act of good, not to save the universe, but save themselves.

What if Coulson Died in Captain Marvel?

One of the pitches from our Discord members centers around an important character when it comes to the formation of the Avengers. If Coulson had died in Captain Marvel, then the ripple effects of this would have led to Fury remaining a lower-ranked SHIELD agent, leaving Earth defenseless against the Chitauri Invasion. As such, Loki becomes the King of Midgard. He would take control of Black Widow, Iron Man, and Captain America, much like he did to Hawkeye in the first Avengers film. Following the battle, Fury would have to take the lead and form an unlikely team consisting of Thor, Hulk, the Ancient One, Ant-Man (Hank Pym), Black Panther (King T’Chaka), and Captain Marvel. It ends up with a battle against Loki and his own team of superpowered villains.

  • Connecting Imaginary Dots: Jude Law and Shamier Anderson to join ‘The Marvels’

Connecting Imaginary Dots: Jude Law and Shamier Anderson to join ‘The Marvels’

As production continues on the set of The Marvels, little by little, more information regarding the sequel has started to trickle its way out from the set. And thanks to this information, we could potentially see the return of one of Captain Marvel’s adversaries return for the sequel, as well as a brand new addition to the cast. IMDB is always hit or miss, thus the exercise in connecting imaginary dots.

According to an IMDb report of the full cast & crew listing, John Humber, who was part of the production of Captain Marvel, is now reportedly once again working on set as the assistant to Jude Law, who portrayed the character of Yon-Rogg in 2019’s Captain Marvel.

Yon-Rogg served as one of Captain Marvel’s most important mentors before revealing his true nature as the main antagonist to Brie Larson’s Carol Danvers. When we last saw him, he was defeated by Captain Marvel and sent off back to the Kree home world of Hala, no doubt in order to report his failures to the Supreme Intelligence. But in the chronological events of the MCU timeline, that happened nearly 30 years prior to the events of Avengers: Endgame, set in the Summer of 2023. So, with Law returning as Yon-Rogg, it will be fascinating to see what sort of change he has undergone since the events of his first appearance in Captain Marvel.

Another interesting detail on this IMDb cast & crew list is the participation of Samantha Jackson, who has reportedly joined the production of The Marvels as the assistant of Shamier Anderson. Anderson’s role, if the listing is accurate, remains to be seen, but the speculation about him playing another Marvel in a film titled The Marvels is sure to happen. Anderson is currently set to appear in the upcoming John Wick 4 film and has also appeared in projects such as Stowaway, Awake, Wynonna Earp, Goliath, and City of Lies.

Both of these actors, if their IMDB listings are accurate, will be set to join the ranks of Brie Larson, Iman Vellani, and  Teyonah Parris, who will reprise their respective MCU roles once again. They would also join franchise newcomers Zawe Ashton and Park Seo-Joon. Nia DaCosta will helm the film.

  • RUMOR: Monica Rambeau May Appear in ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’

RUMOR: Monica Rambeau May Appear in ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’

Doctor Strange In The Multiverse of Madness will see the return of Benedict Cumberbatch as the Sorcerer Supreme. He will be joined by Elizabeth Olsen, who has been recently embraced as the moniker of Scarlet Witch after the events of WandaVision. So far, we do know that they will be joined by Xochitl Gomez as America Chavez. Now, it seems a familiar face may be joining the sequel. In a report by Full Circle, insider Daniel Richtman has revealed that Monica Rambeau may have a role in the upcoming sequel.

Teyonah Parris introduced the world to an older Monica Rambeau, who was first seen as a kid in Captain Marvel. She returned in the first Disney+ series WandaVision. In it, she played a vital role in Wand’s journey to acceptance and even gained powers of her own. It’s unclear what role she’d be playing in the movie, or if she’d even be suited up as her alter ego, Photon. She is confirmed to return in the now retitled Captain Marvel sequel, The Marvels.

Her addition does raise a few questions. It would hint at the involvement of SWORD in the upcoming film, but she may also become an emotional anchor for Wanda. The after-credit sequence hinted at her finding a way to bring her children back to life. So, it would make sense for a familiar face, who saw what she went through, could help her through whatever journey she might face. It’ll be interesting to see how it all comes together once the film premieres next March.

  • ‘CAPTAIN MARVEL 2’ Filming Next Week Under Working Title “Goat Rodeo”

‘CAPTAIN MARVEL 2’ Filming Next Week Under Working Title “Goat Rodeo”

There was an unfortunate mix-up a couple of weeks ago, with a previous report that the working title of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania was “Goat Rodeo.” It’s been discovered recently, however, that this is incorrect. LRM Online posted on March 16th that “Goat Rodeo” is actually the working title of Captain Marvel 2. I’ve done some research and found ample evidence of my own to back up their claim. We’ve also recently learned that Captain Marvel 2 (aka Warbird II Productions) will be briefly filming some aerial shots in New Jersey next week under the working title “Goat Rodeo.” It’s important to note these are likely establishing shots or VFX work and that no actors will be present.

With Captain Marvel 2 going by “Goat Rodeo”, we can also confirm that Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania is using the working title “Dust Bunny.” Both productions are expected to begin principal photography this summer with Captain Marvel 2 scheduled for a November 11, 2022 release.

  • ‘Judas and the Black Messiah’s Cinematographer Sean Bobbitt Joins ‘Captain Marvel 2’

‘Judas and the Black Messiah’s Cinematographer Sean Bobbitt Joins ‘Captain Marvel 2’

Here’s an interesting detail that found its way online but somehow flew under everyone’s radar. Thank you to @GemBiscuits for bringing it to your attention. Cinematographer Sean Bobbitt has left quite an impact in the industry with his work on projects like The Place Beyond the Pines, Shame, 12 Years a Slave, and the recently released Judas and the Black Messiah. It looks like the industry veteran has set his sights on his next major project, as he seemingly has joined Nia DaCosta‘s untitled Captain Marvel 2 sequel. In two separate interviews, he pointed out his involvement with the project. When BTL was asked about recording from COVID, he revealed his involvement.

I’m hoping to get back. I’m sort of signed up to shoot Captain Marvel II, so that will be a real change for me. It’s a very different type of film to what I usually make, and I’m very excited to be part of that.

He also confirmed his involvement with the sequel in the GCS Podcast. As he points out, it is quite a departure from his usual projects. Captain Marvel‘s sequel will probably continue the more space-focused story. Bobbitt has pointed out that the CGI world he is about to enter might be his biggest worry, as he wants to keep the focus on the people. It looks like the upcoming sequel might be a departure from the previous entry that can take Brie Larson‘s character to new highs and add a unique visual style that Marvel Studios has yet to truly explore.

So far, we know that Teyonah Parris is reprising her role from WandaVision as Monica Rambeau. Iman Vellani will also play Kamala Khan following her Ms. Marvel Disney+ series. Zawe Ashton has also joined the project in a villainous role, which is still being kept a secret. The project is shaping up to be quite an interesting addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe and we cannot wait to see what the sequel has to offer.

  • RUMOR: Michael Korvac to Appear in ‘Captain Marvel 2’

RUMOR: Michael Korvac to Appear in ‘Captain Marvel 2’

Marvel Studios seems to be quite busy casting for its upcoming Captain Marvel sequel. We got the reveal that they are currently looking to cast the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s version of Blue Marvel. Now, we got another revelation about an iconic Marvel character joining the film that kind of conflicts with the before-mentioned Blue Marvel reveal. That Hashtag Show believes that the role, which is described as a supporting male role between 20 to 30 years of age, will turn out to be Michael Korvacs.
They reference that the casting looking for a Michael B. Jordan or Jon Boyega type actor also included Timothy Chalamet for reference. As such, they’ve heard that the character will be one of the multiple villains, like Zawe Aston. He will have a supporting role throughout the film before turning out to be the main threat, Michael Korvac. It looks like he was part of the original script written by Anna Boden, Ryan Fleck, and Nicole Perlman before Megan McDonnell rewrote it.
In the comics, Korvac was from the alternate universe Earth-691, where he was turned into a cyborg by the alien race Badoon. They are the same race that we saw alongside Ronan in Guardians of the Galaxy. His transformation has given him the ability to absorb any energy. He even absorbed Galactus’ cosmic energy at one point, which made him a dangerous existence in the multiverse. He would make for a formidable foe for Captain Marvel to face, as we haven’t seen her get pushed to her limits yet. It does conflict with the Blue Marvel news, so we’ll have to take it with a grain of salt for now.
