  • Hayley Atwell Teases Her Future With the MCU Beyond ‘Doctor Strange 2’

Hayley Atwell Teases Her Future With the MCU Beyond ‘Doctor Strange 2’

Hayley Atwell has been a mainstay with the Marvel Cinematic Universe ever since the first Captain America film. While she hasn’t had a major role in the films, she got her own TV show with two seasons and was a recurring character throughout the MCU’s Infinity Saga. Many were surprised when she returned as Captain Carter in the What If…? series only to also reappear in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

During a panel at 2022’s Awesome Con, as shared by the Cosmic Circus, Hayley Atwell was asked about her future and highlighted her experience playing her and hopes to grow beyond just being “a minor player” within the MCU. Yet, in regards to her future, she could only share the following:

Well…I haven’t got news for you. But I share your enthusiasm. And I would love to if Marvel did find a home for her; that’s a home that feels worthy of her in terms of her evolution as a character and development as a character:

    Hayley Atwell

There have been rumors that Marvel Studios is considering a live-action Captain Carter project, but it has not been officially unveiled. Plus, it would be quite surprising for viewers that saw her death at the hand of Wanda Maximoff in the Doctor Strange sequel. The multiverse is vast but it could become a challenge if they start introducing characters that don’t exist within the main MCU timeline. Yet, it could also open up many new opportunities to tell stories they otherwise couldn’t.

  • Iman Vellani Shares How She Was Introduced to Ms. Marvel

Iman Vellani Shares How She Was Introduced to Ms. Marvel

Iman Vellani is living the dream. As a superfan of Marvel and the MCU, she now gets to play Kamala Khan, who is also a superfan of the heroes of her own world. She just happens to also gain out of this world abilities to become a superhero herself. On top of it all, she was a Pakistani-American who became an icon for many that wanted to see themselves in comics. That story isn’t too different for Vellani, as she shares in an interview with Variety.

My first introduction to her was through “Ironheart”; she was on the cover of one of the comics and I was like “Who is this brown person?” I just went into a wormhole, falling in love with the character and the creators Sana Amanat and G. Willow Wilson. I watched their TED Talks and all their interviews and I was like “They have the dream job. I want to be them. They’re brown and they’re working at Marvel.”

    Iman Vellani

It became a big inspiration for her, as it seemed like it would be possible for her to find a footing within the industry herself. They were an inspiration for Vellani just as much as the character in the comics.

That was so incredibly eye-opening for me because I didn’t realize there was space for someone like me in the industry — and I know that sounds super cheesy or whatever, but it’s so true. Beyond representation on screen, seeing ethnic names in the credits matters so much. I didn’t know what I wanted to do in high school; I just wanted to try everything behind the camera, because I was really in love with the tech stuff, so seeing these people thriving working at Marvel was so inspiring.

    Iman Vellani

Of course, there’s more to this story. Vellani shared how she connected with the character and how “very close to home” it was reading her stories, as she stands by her moral code as well as how her family and friends were important to her story.

On top of that, Kamala was a Pakistani Muslim superhero fanatic; I was a Pakistani Muslim superhero fanatic. And [the story] wasn’t about her being Pakistani, or about being Muslim, it was about her being in love with superheroes and having this innate desire to want to help people and do the right thing because she has powers. She doesn’t know how to fight — she’s a 16-year-old kid — but she knows that she has to use them for good. She had such a strong moral code and I really admired how her family and friends were also part of her story and her friends. It felt very close to home. It felt like my life, like the comics were written about me, literally.

    Iman Vellani

In a way, Vellani was the perfect choice to bring this character to life, as she connects with her in so many different ways. It’ll be exciting to see what she brings to the experience as the series has now started airing on Disney+ with more episodes on the way.

  • Iman Vellani on How Brie Larson Helped Prepare Her For Marvel Stardom

Iman Vellani on How Brie Larson Helped Prepare Her For Marvel Stardom

Marvel Studios’ latest superhero is Iman Vellani, who plays Kamala Khan in the Disney+ series Ms. Marvel. Luckily for fans of her performance, the six-episode show won’t be the last time audiences see the teenage phenom from Jersey City. Vellani is set to reprise her role for the upcoming blockbuster film The Marvels alongside fellow returning heroes Brie Larson and Teyonah Parris. The project will act as a sequel to 2019’s Captain Marvel and will see Khan team up with Carol Danvers and Monica Rambeau to fend off a currently-unknown new threat.

In the comics and the show, Danvers’ Captain Marvel acts as somewhat of a mentor and idol to Khan. Speaking to Variety in a recent profile piece, Vellani revealed that she and Larson had very much the same relationship after the former was cast in her current role. She elaborated on the time the two spent together on and off the set:

She was the sweetest. I was really shy and I felt like everything I wanted to ask would have been stupid, but she didn’t make me feel like that. She has such a warm presence and made our Zoom call intimate, telling me all about her experience. She was like, “Seriously, if your mom needs to talk to my mom, we can make that happen. Anything you need.” Any time I had any issue on set, I would text her and she’d make herself so available to answer my questions, as silly or small as they were.

    Iman Vellani on Brie Larson

Vellani continued to explain how the Short Term 12 star helped prepare her for a life after Marvel. Larson was famously targeted by review bombs and sexist remarks following her Marvel Cinematic Universe debut, and the actress evidently felt it was important to make sure her young protégé had someone on her side should the heat of fame start taking it’s toll:

She really wanted to be there for me, because even though she was already an established actor, being in Marvel changed her career forever. The sheer amount of attention you get being a Marvel actor is completely unmatched to anything else in this industry, and she wanted to prep me for that mentally and hold my hand throughout it.

  • New She-Hulk Merch Teases a Split Personality and Comic-Inspired Outfit

New She-Hulk Merch Teases a Split Personality and Comic-Inspired Outfit

She-Hulk is only a few months away from releasing. While the first trailer was met with some controversy, the series is still seemingly eyeing its initial release. We haven’t gotten anything outside of the trailer release, and it seems that we may have to wait until next month for more updates. Luckily, it seems that Fathead has released a few murals and designs inspired by the upcoming Disney+ series that highlight Jennifer Walters’s upcoming struggle between her daily life as a lawyer and superhero. What stands out however is one of the murals. is titled “Split Personality.”

There are also some that offer a good look at her updated costume, which she’ll be wearing as She-Hulk. We only initially saw it from behind but it seems that they went with a very comic-inspired look that has some small updated detailing. Of course, it’ll be interesting to see what it looks like on the show.

One more mural includes a full look at her costume, as well as showcasing the general theme of her duality. She-Hulk is described as her “Alter Ego” in the title of this mural which normally just hints at her “superhero” self. It could also hint at an inner conflict with this new personality of hers. So, it may be more than just Walters getting Hulk powers.

We may get an emotional arc of She-Hulk facing the challenge of embracing her newfound powers and potentially it adding to a subconscious she wasn’t even aware of. While Bruce Banner’s main focus has been his inner rage, she has a different dormant emotion that leads to the alter ego that is She-Hulk. It’ll be interesting t see if this series also explores that very dynamic.

  • EXCLUSIVE: ‘Ms. Marvel’s Powers Were Changed To Connect to Other MCU Stories

EXCLUSIVE: ‘Ms. Marvel’s Powers Were Changed To Connect to Other MCU Stories

Easily the most divisive element of Marvel Studios’ Ms. Marvel is the altered powers of Kamala Khan as the creators behind the series changed Kamala’s origin from an Inhuman who has her powers awakened one fateful night to a normal teen who receives a magical heirloom. Her powers are changed from a form of elasticity called embeginning to very visual, crystalline energy powers akin to Green Lantern.

While it remains to be seen how it will all work out within the context of the show, series executive producer and character co-creator Sana Amanat explained in a conversation with us why the power was changed in the first place:

I talked to them a little bit and gave some feedback but I do know from my understanding that it was something that was important to connecting powers to other MCU stories and the next phase. At the same time, it was connecting it to her lineage and identity. My favorite part of how they evolved her powers was the idea that it was connected to her own life and her family’s experience.

    Sana Amanat

Fans have theorized that the powered heirloom Kamala receives in the series has to do with the upcoming The Marvels, a film slated to be her next appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. That corner of the Marvel Universe has featured objects of similar power such as the famous Quantum Bands so it wouldn’t be surprising if that ties into it. Whatever the heirloom ends up being, it’s pretty clear that the figureheads over at Marvel Studios wanted the heroes of The Marvels to have a unifying visual identity as Carol, Monica, and Kamala all have similar energy-based powers.

  • ‘Ms. Marvel’s Costume includes “Cultural Prints” to Reflect Kamala Khan’s Heritage

‘Ms. Marvel’s Costume includes “Cultural Prints” to Reflect Kamala Khan’s Heritage

Marvel Studios has been on a hot streak in creating some of the franchise’s best costumes as of late. Not only did they manage to translate Sam Wilson’s iconic Captain America costume into live-action but Moon Knight gave us one of the most interesting costumes that embrace the character’s Egyptian background. They are doing something similar with Ms. Marvel, as during the press conference Iman Vellani got to talk about the costume she wore while bringing the character to life.

Our wonderful costume designer Arjun Bhasin had incorporated so many beautiful cultural prints into the fabric and then we have the dupatta that’s kind of the scarf.

    Iman Vellani

The co-creator of the original comic run, Sana Amanat also expanded upon what it was like adapting the costume from the comics while still somehow staying true to what came before, her heritage, and making sure it has a South Asian feel.

What was really fun about this was adapting the comic book design into something that felt like a super-suit, that felt very Marvel but also very authentic to what the comic did and her heritage. And also updating overall the whole design a little bit. If you look at the detailing there’s a lot of cool textures in it that Arjun incorporated that feel South Asian in a very subtle way.

    Sana Amanat

She went on to highlight that this was one of the first costumes created “in-house” with Vellani highlighting that there were “lots of fittings” to make sure she can get the costume down, especially as they had to be careful with its dress design gets in the way with how she moves around. We can’t wait to see the costume in action and perhaps we’ll even see how she

  • ‘Ms. Marvel’ Iman Vellani Tried to Sneak in a Lockjaw Easter Egg

‘Ms. Marvel’ Iman Vellani Tried to Sneak in a Lockjaw Easter Egg

The reviews have finally arrived for Ms. Marvel (of which you can find ours by clicking here) and it looks like many are excited about the young Pakistani-American superhero’s journey into live-action. In an interview with CinemaBlend, Iman Vellani who takes on the role of Kamala Khan talked about how she tried to sneak in an Easter egg to the Inhuman dog, Lockjaw.

I’ve been trying to get a Lockjaw Easter egg and it did not happen. But Season 2, if there’s a Season 2.

    Iman Vellani

So, it sadly looks like Lockjaw won’t be appearing in the first season in any capacity, as many believed that the show might skip the Inhuman aspect altogether. Still, the giant puppy has played an important role in Kamala Khan’s story and it would be a shame to not explore their relationship. It’s great to see that Vellani personifies her character as much as she does.

We did recently get the return of Anson Mount as Black Bolt, but he is part of the multiverse. Lockjaw made his live-action appearance in the infamous Inhumans series. We still don’t know if that aspect of her origin makes it into the series, as they could be playing the long con with their introduction especially as the Mutants are also making their way into the franchise.

  • EXCLUSIVE: Marvel Studios Open To A Lighter, Fun ‘Daredevil’

EXCLUSIVE: Marvel Studios Open To A Lighter, Fun ‘Daredevil’

With a Daredevil project looming on the horizon, fans have wondered what kind of show to expect. Marvel’s run on Disney+ so far has resulted in shows of various tones from the quirky Wandavision to the high-action octane of The Falcon and The Winter Soldier to the dark fantasy Moon Knight.

In our conversation with Ms. Marvel’s co-creator and executive producer Sana Amanat, the discussion briefly turned to the Man Without Fear. Amanat, an editor on Mark Waid’s groundbreaking Daredevil run, chimed in on whether a brighter, more upbeat Matt Murdock was adaptable in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

I don’t see why not! Mark Waid’s run was pretty seminal. We’ve never seen that kind of story and I love the spin on that and it was such an unexpected take on the character. In the same way, I wouldn’t be surprised if they did something like that in the MCU. Why not? We like to take risks and this is the fun part of exploring multiple stories. So maybe.

    Sana Amanat

Contrary to what the Netflix shows and Miller/Bendis comics have established, Daredevil was, at several points in his 50-year publication history, a bright swashbuckling hero. His most recent outing as the upbeat, swashbuckler was Waid’s 2013 run. Waid’s work along with artist Chris Samnee, won several prestigious awards for their unique, distinguished take on the character as they took Matt Murdock to places he’d never been in and fought foes he’d never crossed in a long time. And given the MCU’s knack for doing the unexpected, it wouldn’t be surprising to see them take a bolder direction for the Man Without Fear.

  • ‘Ms. Marvel’ Creators on Choosing the Right Music to Reflect Kamala Khan’s Cultural Background

‘Ms. Marvel’ Creators on Choosing the Right Music to Reflect Kamala Khan’s Cultural Background

Music is an important creative landmark that reflects our personalities and even cultures. So, it makes sense that Marvel Studios’ first Pakistani-American superhero has a soundtrack that reflects Ms. Marvel‘s own cultural heritage. As such, the upcoming film will include music that has a South Asian background, and head writer Bisha K. Ali got a chance to highlight how they chose the songs together with the character’s co-creator Sana Amanat.

The music is such an integral part of it. Honestly, I agree, it’s just a banger after banger on the soundtrack. Me and Sana had a back-and-forth, we had such a clear vision of what the songs should be.

    Bisha K. Ali

Amanat goes on to highlight how they chose music from South Asia, especially highlighting bass-heavy and diaspora music, which also reflected what she heard throughout the years. Not only that but also curating a playlist ever since she was first asked to join the production.

There are so many great artists, I think South Asian music and South Asian diaspora music is probably some of the best music in the world and it’s such a great platform. The studio and Kevin [Feige] were so excited and gracious about hearing different kinds of music and celebrating that in the show. So, I have been curating a playlist since Kevin called me.

    Sana Amanat

It’s great o also see that Kevin Feige and his team were excited for them including music that reflects the cultural heritage that’s highlighted in the series. We’ve seen it as well with Moon Knight, where specific key moments included Egyptian music highlighting director Mohamed Diab‘s cultural background and also reflecting the character’s complex connection to a literal Egyptian god.

  • ‘Ms. Marvel’s Directors Would Reshoot the Disney+ Series if They Could Add Shah Rukh Khan

‘Ms. Marvel’s Directors Would Reshoot the Disney+ Series if They Could Add Shah Rukh Khan

Ms. Marvel will be an important milestone for representation, as a Pakistani-American superhero, Kamala Khan, takes center stage. Iman Vellani will bring the character to life and many elements in the series reflect the culture they represent. The early episodes also include some fun nods to Bollywood, such as a reference to superstar Shah Rukh Khan.

SRK is also known as the “King of Bollywood” and it seems that the team would be willing to reshoot the entire series to include sequences starring the Bollywood icon. Directing duo Adil El Arbi and Billal Fallah talked about how they would tackle it if the actor would decide to join their production during the Disney+ series’ official press release.

If he wants to, we would shoot again. We’d reshoot some scenes with Shah Rukh Khan.

Adil El Arbi & Bilall Fallah

Everyone was excited about the prospect of the Bollywood icon potentially appearing in the show. So, if they potentially get multiple sequels or even a film made, perhaps Marvel Studios can find a way for Shah Rukh Khan to find his way into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. That way, the team isn’t forced to reshoot what they already worked on this shortly before the series is officially released on Disney.

Still, it’s fun to see everyone’s excitement regarding the Bollywood actor and opening the door to what could be in the future. Maybe they can get at least Kumail Nanjiani’s Kingo to appear as a fellow Bollywood star that is showing the United States off to his actor friend. There are a lot of fun ways they could make it work.
