  • ‘Morbius’ Director Talks Michael Keaton’s Return as Vulture

‘Morbius’ Director Talks Michael Keaton’s Return as Vulture

The director of Morbius talks about major spoilers ahead of the film’s release. If you want to remain spoiler-free, only continue at your own risk.

We just published the piece that the director of Morbius, Daniel Espinosa, confirmed that the film isn’t part of the MCU and is part of the same Venomverse we were introduced to in the 2018 film. Yet, it seems that that doesn’t mean we’ll get a crossover between the two franchises, as the director seems to imply that Michael Keaton‘s return as Vulture in the trailers is indeed the version we were introduced to in the MCU. He goes out of his way to confirm that it is indeed the one from Spider-Man: Homecoming and even gives away how he ends up in the film.

So, it seems that No Way Home sent various heroes to other dimensions and accidentally also teleported Vulture in the process. Yet, that makes no real sense as the film was all about sending people back to their respective universes based on the fact that they knew Spider-Man is Peter Parker. It almost would imply that Vulture was already from a different dimension from the get-go, but that was never part of his story when we first meet him.

In a way, it seems like Sony wanted an excuse to have the character return and used the loophole surrounding the spell to explain why he’s part of Sony’s universe. We might expect them to pick and choose whoever landed in whatever universe so they can build whatever they are trying to attempt, but the fact they reveal it ahead of the release makes no real sense. Perhaps they have a trick up their sleeve once the film hits theaters, or they are banking on that connection selling the film.

  • ‘Morbius’ Director Confirms Movie is Not Part of the MCU, Teases Its Own Spider-Man

‘Morbius’ Director Confirms Movie is Not Part of the MCU, Teases Its Own Spider-Man

While there’s still sometime before Sony’s Spider-Man spinoff film Morbius releases in theaters, it seems the director is quite open to spoiling quite a few elements from the film. CinemaBlend has shared a Twitter thread with some curious details about the film from director Daniel Espinosa. With the many discussions surrounding the film’s continuity, most notably due to how many Easter eggs were added into the initial trailers from across all of Spidey’s multiverse, the director has confirmed that it is part of Venom’s universe and not the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Sony has been quite actively teasing that all their projects take place in the MCU, but with Marvel Studios actively talking around the topic it never got confirmed. That was until Spider-Man: No Way Home confirmed that Venom is part of the greater multiverse. He also confirmed that the universe they inhabit has its own Spider-Man, but would not give away which one that is. He only highlighted that “It is my understanding that audiences will discover the answer soon.” So, we might find out once the film either hits theaters or get an announcement from Sony as they try to build their own universe.

The bizarre part is that we did see Michael Keaton‘s Vulture make an appearance in the trailers, which makes you wonder if he is just a Variant that’s exactly the same. If they have their own Spider-Man, there’s likely a chance that they’d want to either nab Tobey Maguire or Andrew Garfield, as their return has been welcomed with quite a lot of fanfare. Just introducing another new actor in the role may be a bit chaotic.

  • Oscar Isaac Offers Update on ‘Metal Gear Solid’ Movie

Oscar Isaac Offers Update on ‘Metal Gear Solid’ Movie

Oscar Isaac has been busy promoting his upcoming Disney+ series Moon Knight, but that didn’t stop IGN from asking him for an update on the long-awaited cinematic adaptation of the popular gaming series Metal Gear Solid. He was cast back in December but we haven’t heard anything since and luckily the actor offered a small update on the project.

We’re searching, we’re searching like Solid Snake. We’re climbing through air ducts, we’re looking for the story.

    Oscar Isaac

It looks like the film is still in its early stages, as director Jordan Vogt-Roberts is getting the script together. He has hinted that the series’ creator Hideo Kojima has also been involved in some capacity, but it’s unclear if he’ll also have a say in the film’s overalls story and script. We also don’t know if they will directly adapt Snake’s infiltration of Shadow Moses, or take a more unique approach to make the adaptation stand out from the original. Still, it’s good to hear that they are still actively working on the project and it seems Isaac is having fun with some callbacks to the game.

  • RUMOR: ‘Blue Beetle’ Will Feature Carapax and an Original Foe

RUMOR: ‘Blue Beetle’ Will Feature Carapax and an Original Foe

The DC Extended Universe is about to get a little bit bigger with the arrival of Jaime Reyes, aka the Blue Beetle. Fans are eager to see the third and most popular iteration of the character make his big-screen debut next year. Sadly, we still don’t know a ton regarding the plot of the project. Details on just who Jaime will face in the film are still scarce, but a new rumor may hint at a rather unknown foe.

The Cosmic Circus is reporting that the DC villain Carapax will be making his live-action debut in the film alongside what seems to be an original character named Victoria Kord. Of course, that name would seem familiar as that is the last name of Ted Kord, mentor to Jaime Reyes, and the second person to don the mantle of Blue Beetle. Victora Kord reportedly also has connections to Bruna Marquezine’s character, who is only known as Jenny.

Conrad Carapax was an archeologist and rival of Daniel Garret, the first Blue Beetle. He traveled to Pago Island where he found the remains of a lab that once belonged to Jarvis Kord, the uncle of Ted Kord. He was killed when trying to activate a robot but ended up fusing his mind with it. Victoria could possibly have some sort of link to Jarvis, or maybe be a gender-bent version of the character. Jarvis spent his time on the island-building robot he intended to use to take over the world. Victoria being in an antagonist role alongside Carapax could hint at this change.

Blue Beetle is set to hit theaters on August 18th, 2023.

  • David Dastmalchian Won’t Return in ‘Ant-Man: Quantumania’

David Dastmalchian Won’t Return in ‘Ant-Man: Quantumania’

It looks like the Baba Yaga got its hands on Kurt Goreshter, as David Dastmalchian has confirmed that he isn’t returning in the upcoming third entry of the Ant-Man and the Wasp franchise, Quantumania. The actor was asked about his eventual return during his attendance at Moon Knight’s red carpet premiere. There he confirmed that he isn’t in the project.

It doesn’t look like it… But that’s okay. I know they’re making something incredible. I can’t wait to see what Peyton does next. He’s one of my favorite directors…He’s been so busy. I have tried to stay in touch, but he’s making an incredible film right now.

    David Dastmalchian

He’s not the only X-Con member that won’t make a return, as we also learned back in March of 2021 that T.I. will also not be returning for the upcoming film. There were some rumblings regarding multiple sexual assault allegations towards T.I. at the time, but there have been theories that the sequel may have trimmed some of its supporting cast members. The fact Dastmalchian isn’t returning either seems to further support that theory.

For now, the only member of X-Con that hasn’t been revealed yet would be Michael Peña‘s Luis. He was a fan-favorite, especially with how he tends to recap events from previous films. While they shrunk down the cast, he may be the one to join them into the Quantum Realm. It would be hilarious to see him distracting Kang by giving him a recap of Avengers: Endgame with some fun cameos would be a great addition.

  • First Full Look at Barry Keoghan’s Joker Revealed in Newly Released ‘The Batman’ Footage

First Full Look at Barry Keoghan’s Joker Revealed in Newly Released ‘The Batman’ Footage

The Batman hit theaters just a few weeks ago and made waves amongst the community, some heralding it as the definitive Batman film. Towards the end of the film, we saw a bit of setup for the future of the franchise, with a mysterious prisoner in Arkham locked up alongside Riddler, who upon speaking was revealed to be the Clown Prince of Crime, the Joker.

Matt Reeves has shared a new look at Keoghan in full prosthetics, locked up in Arkham asylum and seemingly being interrogated by Batman. We only get a look at the character from the back, but it seems to be somewhat burned with minimal hair. The design looks somewhat like Cameron Monaghan Joker that was featured on Gotham.

That’s not all, as one of the long-rumored scenes that didn’t make it into the film has also been shared.

In a closer look at the character, we get to see the Joker’s full face, featuring the permanent smile that Reeves revealed following the film’s release. This Joker has already found himself a home in Arkham, presumably running into the Bat during Bruce’s first active year on the Gotham project. It would be interesting to see if the character shares a similar origin to what was alluded to in The Killing Joke storyline as he does seem to have some sort of burns on his skin, but it’s hard to miss that smile.

We have yet to hear any official word on a sequel to The Batman but as fans and critics praise it with the box office haul passing $600 million, it seems inevitable.

  • Tom Cruise and Paramount Execs Clash Over ‘Mission Impossible 7’

Tom Cruise and Paramount Execs Clash Over ‘Mission Impossible 7’

Mission Impossible 7 and its sequel are still in active development, as both were postponed at the beginning of the year. Ever since many fans have been wondering why such a seasoned team is running into issues. Of course, COVID-19 protocols, environment hazards, and political events can be looked at as the obvious answers, it seems there may be more than meets the eye. According to reports, Tom Cruise lawyered up due to Paramount’s new release strategies for their films and shows, as they rolled out their new streaming service alongside an ever-growing budget due to COVID constraints and a changing development.

The movie was originally filmed in Northern Italy, which got impacted hard during the early stages of the pandemic, with Tom Cruise contracting the virus. To add to the issues, Paramount+ is expected to get films 45 days after their theater debut, half of what the Hollywood norm is. As a result, the film’s star has reportedly gotten his lawyers involved due to the change. The argument is apparently on hold until MI:7 finished production, which has seemingly been purposefully been pushed out as they started work on the eighth entry.

Add in the countless other issues like the film’s multiple shutdowns over COVID-19 infections, needing to move shooting locations multiple times, dealing with an insurance company due to those moves, and an inflating budget, MI:7 just can’t seem to catch a break. Hopefully, the dispute over the film’s runtime and budget are resolved and we get to see the film hit its new targeted release date, but we may need to wait three months to stream the movie because of it.

  • BREAKING: ‘Moon Knight’ Writer Sabir Pirzada to Adapt a ‘Nova’ Project for Marvel Studios

BREAKING: ‘Moon Knight’ Writer Sabir Pirzada to Adapt a ‘Nova’ Project for Marvel Studios

After being one of the longest rumored characters to get a solo project, Deadline has finally revealed that Richard Rider, better known as the intergalactic hero Nova, will be getting his own project. Marvel Studios is developing the adaptation but there are no details if this will be a Disney+ series or a solo film outing. As per usual, Kevin Feige will take on the producing role while Moon Knight writer Sabir Pirzada is attached to pen the project. The project has been teased for quite some time, and many rumors made the rounds on a potential project being in development. Deadline’s Justin Kroll did highlight that sources seem to indicate this is very likely a limited series heading to Disney+.

While the article highlights Richard Rider as the potential main character, there’s a chance that it’ll focus on Sam Alexander. As the name implies, he is part of the Nova Corp but unlike the others we’ve seen in Guardians of the Galaxy, he has superhuman abilities. A special helmet was passed on to his son after his apparent demise, which gave him the same abilities as his father. With the Young Avengers on the horizon and the apparent destruction of the Nova Corp, they may skip straight to the legacy aspect of the character similar to what Ant-Man did when it focused on the second generation holder of the mantle.

  • James McAvoy Swiftly Shoots Down any ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’ Rumors

James McAvoy Swiftly Shoots Down any ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’ Rumors

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness‘s name already comes with high expectations, as it seems like the multiverse opens up the franchise to countless potential cameos. The final trailer including the voice of Patrick Stewart just further sparked that potential, as now people are wondering who else might appear. Nicolas Cage recently denied that he would have a potential appearance in the upcoming MCU film, but it looks like we can add one more legacy actor to the list.

James McAvoy was asked during an Instagram live stream if we can expect him also to return as Charles Xavier in the upcoming MCU sequel. Yet, he swiftly shot down any theories with a loud “No” before moving on with the topic. So, it seems we might only expect one version of Charles Xavier to make his debut in the MCU with the upcoming film, even if even Stewart had some fun denying that the voice clip was from him before finally confirming.

It’s kind of funny rewatching the video in just how fast he responds to the question. While it’s a shame, it does make sense they might not want to stuff the film with every single character that was ever shown in a past Marvel film. While we’re excited about the potential, the film’s core narrative should remain its main focus. It’s uncertain what we can expect but the wait won’t be too much longer as the film finally releases on May 6th.

  • REPORT: ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’ Runtime Is Among MCU’s Longest

REPORT: ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’ Runtime Is Among MCU’s Longest

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness has been hyped up as potentially being one of the “biggest” MCU films of all time. The sheer scope of the multiverse and the endless possibilities that could stem from it are enough to draw quite an audience to the 28th Marvel Studios film.

The Doctor Strange sequel has been tight-lipped with respect to many of the film’s key features including plot, antagonists, and possible cameos. While cameos are normally not discussed so heavily prior to a film’s release, Multiverse of Madness has stirred up countless rumors about which characters or universes might make an appearance. With all of that going on, it was easy to think that the film could have a particularly long runtime.

According to the Brazilian ticketing website Ingresso, Multiverse of Madness will clock in with a reported runtime of 2 hours and 28 minutes. If true, that makes the sequel one of the top five longest MCU movies. At 148 minutes, it would boast the same runtime as Spider-Man: No Way Home, but be shorter than Avengers: Infinity War, Avengers: Endgame, and Eternals.

While a film’s runtime tends to spark curiosity as to the contents of the film itself, it’s worth noting that a two and a half hours-long superhero flick is no longer seen as particularly long. This runtime places the Doctor Strange follows up as the shortest MCU film since Shang-Chi but is well shy of The Batman’s three-hour event.

Fans can learn all of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness‘s secrets when the anxiously-awaited film is released on May 6.
